00:02Hence, it is scrambling to get its ballot forms and registration changes up to speed

00:08with the latest Supreme Court stunner ruling out the island province of Sulu as part of

00:13the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

00:23After the Supreme Court decided that Sulu is not part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region

00:27for Muslim Mindanao or BARM, the Commission on Elections decided to take action on the

00:33changes to be made for the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2025.

00:38According to COMELEC, the elections will still proceed as scheduled.

00:42However, they moved the filing of the Certificate of Credences for the parliamentary elections

00:48from November 4 to 9.

00:49This does not affect the COC filing for the national and local elections.

01:17That's why for Sulu and all other areas in the country, the filing will still take place

01:23from October 1 to 8.

01:25Even the local positions for BARM will still proceed with their COC filings on October

01:301 to 8.

01:31The changes will only directly affect the 10,000 members required per regional political

01:36party based on the election code and the Bangsamoro Organic Law because based on the list acquired

01:42by COMELEC, each regional party has members from Sulu.

01:46That's why they will be giving each party the chance to fill out the vacant slots with

01:50ample amount of time as they seek to soon release guidelines on this.

02:17Meanwhile, the COMELEC explained why it did not approve the proposal of Congressman Bienvenido

02:23Abante Jr. to move the COC filing from December 1 to 8 for the whole country.

02:46On the other hand, the COMELEC sees the possibility of Sulu ultimately being subsumed or included

03:00in Region 9 or the Zamboanga Peninsula.
