CSU head coach talks rivalry with CU.

00:00You know, when you talk about the rivalry, look, you were really authentic about that,

00:03man.

00:04It is real and there is no love lost and there's bad blood.

00:07When you've got guys like that, when you've got players like that, do you want them to

00:10kind of detach and stay within themselves or do you want them to lean into it and convert

00:15that into fuel?

00:17Because you can't pretend it's just another game because it's not.

00:20What do you tell your guys?

00:21It's not.

00:22And it's, it's never been here in this state.

00:24You know, I don't know how many people are familiar with this rivalry, but it's been

00:27JJ, JJ.

00:28Let me jump in on you.

00:29Explain the rivalry for those who don't understand, this is a national audience.

00:33Explain the rivalry.

00:34We play for, we play for a trophy.

00:35It's centennial cup for many years.

00:37This game was played in mile high stadium or in, or in Boulder.

00:42And so they never really allowed the, you know, little, little step brother to have

00:47the game at home.

00:48And so we have the game at home.

00:51It was supposed to be played in our new stadium a couple of years ago and because of COVID

00:54it was canceled.

00:56So there's been a lot of anticipation to show off our new stadium, to show off our

01:03campus nationally.

01:05And this is a national game.

01:06It's national TV.

01:08A lot of people saw us play last year.

01:10I mean, almost 10 million people watched the game last year.

01:14Double overtime game is a great game.

01:17And so it's just, it's an awesome opportunity for our campus and our kids and you know,

01:23And then we're not going to play this game until 2029 again.

01:27So the rivalry disappears for years.

01:30And so it's just very, it's a very unique opportunity for our program.

01:36And there's been a lot of bad blood over the years for whatever reason.

01:40And this year will be no exception, but, but let's, let's, let's not get it twisted.

01:45The game's going to get played on the field at 530 and nothing I say or nothing anybody

01:51else says or social media is going to change that.

01:55And, and we'll be waiting on them and we'll be ready.
