00:00The Department of the Interior and Local Government, or DILG, along with the Philippine National
00:05Police, or PNP, presented to the media a notorious child trafficker who was arrested in the United
00:12Arab Emirates, or UAE.
00:14Teddy J. Moheka Mejia, a major child sex trafficker, arrived in the country today after being apprehended
00:21with the assistance of the UAE government.
00:25The investigation revealed the victims, minors, were allegedly forced to appear in obscene
00:30videos which were then sold illegally online.
00:34Particularly on the dark web, PNP Chief General Romel Francisco Marbil admitted the Philippines
00:41remains a target for such abuses due to the authorities' limited capability to combat
00:46these criminals.
00:47In response, the PNP and the DILG have coordinated with other nations to strengthen and expand
00:53the police's ability to fight cybercrime and similar offenses.
00:58DILG Secretary Benjamin Ben-Hur Abalos, Jr. assured the public that justice will be served
01:04for the victims and anyone proven to be involved will be held accountable under the law.
01:10We have an agreement with the UAE that they will help us build our own internet capability,
01:18our application to really look into the dark web and exploit those who use online, online
01:24sexual exploitation.
01:25You can count on the Philippine National Police with the help of our SILG and other countries
01:31that we will be better at chasing such criminals.
01:35It is worrying because these are minors who have no enemies.
