Ukraine is increasingly reliant on drone warfare. "The war is a drone war, and this is really the robotic war," one operative tells CGTN’s Iolo ap Dafydd. "The most effective will be the side in this war which uses technologies."

00:00Undercover, a powerful engine is being fine-tuned.
00:05As soon as it's serviced, it'll be driven back to the front line.
00:09In this makeshift workshop, tanks and armored vehicles are patched up by teams of mechanics.
00:15They repair old Soviet machines to use in today's conflict.
00:21Elsewhere, conscripts are put through their paces.
00:24A few kilometers behind the front line, they rest and repeat their training exercises.
00:31There are different duties. We have guiding tasks, holding positions, and there are anti-drone officers tasks.
00:38We use anti-tank javelin rockets. There are many tasks for the soldiers to perform here.
00:45They say they engage Russian soldiers often.
00:48This generation is taught similar skills to those who fought in the big wars of the last century.
00:54We train every day, and it's very necessary. The team is good, and everyone supports each other.
01:00We help as much as we can. The first battle is scary, but you have to do it.
01:08This is another front line, a different kind of war.
01:13One aspect of this conflict that the Ukrainians have innovated is the use of drones.
01:17Not just in the field, but there are thousands of workshops across the country that assemble and build them for the army.
01:24Drones are modified and assembled by volunteers for specific army brigades.
01:30It's quite difficult because there are specific requirements, and it's challenging to complete them.
01:36Put it this way, everyone who can, does. Some people do more, some less.
01:41Some can build one or two drones a day, others are more skilled.
01:45They're all paid for, and we deliver them ready to use.
01:49It's a civilian workshop, funded by donations, to arm soldiers with weapons that are cheap, but deadly.
01:55Some companies in Kharkiv, in Kiev, in other cities, like taxi networks, for example,
02:03are gathering money for drones from every trip.
02:07Just a few days ago, one of the Kharkiv taxi companies started this program, and we are thankful about it.
02:17Ukraine's military buys and supplies what's called FPV, or first-person view drones.
02:22It's compact in size, carrying a battery, a camera, and an explosive device.
02:27It transmits wirelessly, and is controlled by a soldier wearing goggles, or via a smartphone, to record and attack.
02:36Now the war is a drone war, and this is really the robotic war.
02:42The most effective will be that part, or the side, yes, of this war, which we use technologies.
02:51So Ukraine now produces a lot of different high technologies.
02:59Battles between Ukrainians and Russians are evolving,
03:02and how these unmanned small aircraft are utilized is revolutionizing war in the 21st century.
