00:00In Colombia, President Gustavo Petro denounced that a coup d'etat is being plotted against his government.
00:06The president noted that the allegations against him are a reflection of a coup d'etat that is being plotted by illegitimate administrative entities.
00:14Petro is being accused of allegedly having surpassed the expenditure savings in the electoral campaign that led him to office.
00:22Petro stated that the target of such claim is to remove him from power by means of an assassination or a political destitution in the next three months and replace him with the president of the Senate, Efraín Zepeda.
00:34In this way, he denounced that there are economic interests to produce a political process of destitution of the legitimate president of the country.
00:42The Bolivarian Alliance for the People's of America-People's Trade Treaty, ALBA-TCP, issued on Friday an official communique regarding the recent warning made by Colombian President Gustavo Petro about a coup d'etat and magnacide attempt in progress against him.
01:02The document, read on videoconference by the bloc's secretary, Jorge Arreaza, expressed the group's concern about the Colombian president's allegations and reminded that Latin America and the Caribbean have been during the present year a scenario of multiple destabilization attempts and continued attacks on the institutions of several countries and of direct threats against democratically elected political leaders.
01:26Arreaza highlighted the group's conviction that all these cases were connected, so urged the international community about a planned strategy carried out by internal and external powers that be the objective to undermine peace in the region.
01:40The text warned that the Colombian president has been the target of aggressions since he took office to prevent him from carrying out his sovereign and progressive project.
01:50The bloc's member states stressed that they will continue to follow up closely the development of these events and expressed their hope that the Colombian people, led by their president, will manage to neutralize these actions and warranty peace in that country.
