00:00From national security to global corruption, this is the Muckrakers on today's news talk,
00:07TNT.
00:08Now, I don't know, I want us to focus today on US politics and the extraordinary scene
00:13that we had, the finally long debated discussion between Harris and Trump.
00:21Did you both have a chance to see some of it, if not all of it?
00:24Yes.
00:25Yes, yes.
00:26Yes, definitely.
00:27And I know, Basil, you managed to see some sort of highlights, I couldn't stand sitting
00:30through the whole thing, which is interesting.
00:31But what I loved about it was this is the first time, and Harris, I have to say, was
00:36a little bit better than we were expecting her to be.
00:39Let's first of all have a look then, because there was a long time coming this debate.
00:44And basically they engaged in their first presidential debate, focusing on topics such
00:47as the economy, trade policy and abortion rights.
00:51What was interesting with the debate rules, and I don't know if you know much about this,
00:54but there were basically discussions about muting the microphones, whether they should
00:58be muted when it's not a candidate's turn to speak.
01:01And both basically Harris's and Trump's campaign, they had different conflicts.
01:05And you'd be surprised about this, because basically Harris's team advocated for live
01:09mics during the exchange, while Trump's team pushed for muted mics.
01:13And Trump's normal debating tactic is to bam, blast the speaker, but he didn't in this particular
01:19one.
01:20The debate lasted 90 minutes with two commercial breaks and they were anchored by two ABC anchors,
01:25David Muir and Lindsay Davis.
01:27There was no audience in the room.
01:30The other rules was there's going to be no opening statements and there was a two minute
01:32closing statement.
01:33There was a restriction on props, no props, no pre-written notes and no candidate to candidate
01:39questioning.
01:40And it all took place in the National Congress Constitutional Center in Philadelphia, a critical
01:45swing state.
01:47What was your general reaction?
01:49Let's start with you, Errol, to that debate.
01:51Well, it was obvious that I think Trump did a fine job, as fine as he could.
02:01It was clear that Kamala Harris had a lot of acting or rather the training to make the
02:09replies that she did.
02:12They were very rehearsed and I'm inclined to think she was even asked the questions
02:16by the same moderators beforehand.
02:21In other words, it wasn't the first time she saw those moderators.
02:24I'm pretty sure of that.
02:25It's very unfair, very crooked, the whole thing very crooked.
02:29The other thing that I noticed is that she's wearing the new audio earrings, which you
02:34can buy.
02:35I saw that.
02:36I saw that on the internet.
02:37There was a little meme about it.
02:38They showed the shot.
02:39Yeah.
02:40They have the antenna and everything.
02:41Yes.
02:42Yeah.
02:43I've seen them.
02:44I've seen them before.
02:45It's a hearing aid.
02:46They can talk to her.
02:47She was, how do you call it, helped through the whole thing with a bit of prompting, I
03:02imagine.
03:03On the other hand, on top of that, as a woman, she spoke all right, but let me put it like
03:10this.
03:11There are volumes written about men having an argument with a woman or trying to argue
03:18with a woman.
03:19The bottom line is this.
03:21Men have an innate desire to make sense with their argument, whereas women have no such
03:28desire.
03:30That's the bottom line of all arguments between a man and a woman.
03:35It's simple.
03:36Men have a desire, a strong desire to make sense.
03:41Women have no such desire, but at any rate, I thought it was all right.
03:45I think clearly, from my point of view as a businessman and knowing the background of
03:52this woman and everything and knowing that it was all rehearsed and so on, obviously,
03:57it didn't do anything to move me in terms of who I would rather see in government.
04:05I'd like to see this new Republic Party in power there for certain, to get rid of all
04:12the people that are homeless and stop all this incredible mess that's going on in America
04:20and all around the world.
04:22We follow the United States.
04:25We also know here that if Donald Trump gets in, in South Africa, it will lift us as well.
04:31We know that.
04:32It will lift us out of, you could say, almost depression or recession.
04:39It is very interesting.
04:40I'm very keen to have a look at that sort of stuff.
04:42You raise a very interesting point about the earrings.
04:45I've seen this reported online together with photos.
04:48There are pictures of, apparently, you can receive little earrings, little antenna and
04:52things like that.
04:53You can receive messages.
04:54Definitely.
04:55There's no doubt about it.
04:56There's absolutely no doubt about it.
04:57They are the earrings that you use for that purpose.
05:01It's not maybe.
05:02It's definitely no question about it.
05:05It's amazing to me that these earrings, people know about them.
05:10They blatantly didn't worry about it.
05:12They just didn't worry about it.
05:15It is extraordinary.
05:16Well, they should be looking into that.
05:18I always say, look, here on the Mugbreakers, our only mission is to find the truth.
05:22I put it out to ABC.
05:24If that were the case, do come on and let us know.
05:26Let us know if you check those earrings.
05:28So anybody on Kamala Harris's party come forward and confess if that's the truth or tell us
05:34all about it.
05:35Show us those earrings.
05:36We'll have a look.
05:37And it has been a presidential campaign all about ears from the appalling assassination
05:42attempt and that sort of stuff to Kamala.
05:45That's how you pronounce her name with her earpiece.
05:47I think Donald should come on with it with little earrings as well next time.
05:50I think that will be good.
05:51So he can have his people.
05:52We're going to take a quick break.
05:53We're going to take a quick break when we come back, we're going to do a deeper dive
06:02into what they actually discussed.
06:04Don't touch that dial.
06:09This is the Mugbreakers on today's news talk, TNT.
06:15What a very warm welcome back to the Mugbreakers with me, Andrew Yvonne, joined by Basil Valentine
06:19and my new best mate, Harold Musk over there, comparing all sorts of notes about cars and
06:24earrings and other things.
06:26I was mentioning just before the break, or actually Errol brought it up about these earrings.
06:29There we go.
06:30Well, this is an ad for these.
06:31You can have a look at that.
06:32I think the gallery can pick them up.
06:35They're called apparently the Nova H1 Pearl earphones.
06:40And somebody claims that Kamala cheated the debate with these.
06:45I do want to do a deep dive into that.
06:47If anybody who's watching at the moment has a pair of these Nova H1 Pearl earphones, do
06:53let us know.
06:54I'll wear them in the next episode.
06:55We can get some of those and we'll try it out, which is good.
06:59It's been an absolute delight, as always, Basil.
07:02Thank you very much for joining me yet again, Errol.
07:05Always a pleasure.
07:06We'll compare notes on cars continuously before we get you back on next time.
07:10The rest of you, I will be back again tomorrow, same time, same place.
07:14Do whatever you can to support TNT and the wonderful mission.
07:18Our quest, our unwavering quest, is to keep and uncovering the truth.
07:22With your help, we can continue to do that.
07:24I've been Andrew Ebourne.
07:25You've been great.
07:26Thank you very much for joining us.
