00:00It was a baking hot summer on the island of Sodor.
00:06The sun was shining brightly.
00:09James and Toby were taking the children to the seaside.
00:13It was a wonderful job.
00:15All the engines liked seeing the children's happy faces,
00:19and they loved hearing them cheer when they saw the sea.
00:24Thomas wished he was taking the children to the seaside,
00:28but Thomas was taking a big tank of raspberry syrup to the ice cream factory.
00:36Down on the beach it was very hot,
00:40and the ice cream lady had run out of ice cream.
00:45So when Thomas arrived at the ice cream factory,
00:49the factory manager was waiting for him.
00:52We have to make lots more ice cream, he cried.
00:55You must go and get the cream, the chocolate and the strawberries.
00:59Thomas was disappointed.
01:01He had lots to collect, and he wanted to take the children to the seaside.
01:06If we get everything in time, said Thomas' driver, we can still take some children.
01:14So Thomas rushed to the dairy.
01:19He collected the cream, and he puffed quickly away.
01:28Next, Thomas had to collect some strawberries,
01:31so he raced through the countryside to Farmer Macomb's.
01:37Then Thomas had to stop for James.
01:40Out of the way, snorted James.
01:43Passenger train coming through.
01:45James' carriages were full of laughing children.
01:49They were going to the seaside.
01:51Why does James get to take the children? moaned Thomas.
01:57At last the crossing was clear, and Thomas puffed away.
02:07If I'm quick, I can still take some of the children, he puffed.
02:12So Thomas raced as fast as he could.
02:18Soon Thomas arrived at Farmer Macomb's.

02:25The farm workers loaded his trucks.
02:28Before long they were filled with plump ripe strawberries.

03:23Then he had to wait while Toby was waiting.
03:27Then he had to wait while Toby went past.
03:31Toby was taking more children to the seaside.
03:34They were having a wonderful time.
03:38Everyone gets to take the children except me, moaned Thomas.
03:47At last the signal man changed the points.
03:52Thomas reversed back onto the track.
03:57And soon he was on his way once again.
04:09When Thomas arrived at the chocolate factory, it was very late.
04:15Hurry up! cried Thomas.
04:18If I'm quick, I might still get to take some children.
04:21The workmen loaded Thomas' trucks as fast as they could.
04:25They were soon filled with heaps of chocolatey cocoa powder.
04:30Thomas was ready to go.
04:33But the shunters hadn't released the brakes on the trucks.
04:37Thomas pulled as hard as he could.
04:40But the trucks wouldn't move.
04:42I have to hurry! puffed Thomas.
04:45He heed, he huffed and he puffed.
04:48And at last the coupling broke.
04:52Thomas shot forward. Cocoa powder flew everywhere.
04:57Now I'll never get to take the children, puffed Thomas.
05:04After a long time, Thomas' trucks were ready.
05:10The yard manager had released the brakes.
05:13And Thomas chuffed carefully out of the yard.
05:23Finally the track turned left past the old church.
05:30Thomas arrived at the ice cream factory.
05:33He thought his job was nearly done.
05:35But he was wrong.
05:37The factory manager was waiting for him.
05:40The ice cream will soon be ready, he said.
05:42You must take it to the seaside for me.
05:45Thomas was very disappointed.
05:48He wished he could take the children to the seaside instead.
05:52He wanted to hear them cheer when they saw the sea.
05:58Thomas puffed along the coast to the seaside.
06:01I wish I was taking the children, sighed Thomas.
06:07Percy was waiting at the seaside station.
06:09And so were lots of children.
06:13They all cheered as Thomas pulled into the station.
06:17Thomas was surprised.
06:19Why are all the children cheering, puffed Thomas.
06:22They're cheering for you, laughed Percy.
06:25They've been waiting for the ice cream.
06:27The children were delighted to see Thomas.
06:30And delighted to eat the ice cream.
06:33Thomas loved seeing the children laugh and cheer.
06:37The fat controller was waiting with the children.
06:40Today you have worked extra hard, said the fat controller.
06:44You are a really useful engine.
06:47Delivering ice cream is a fun job after all, puffed Thomas.
06:52He was very happy.
