00:00So we're here at Shrewsbury Abbey and Bridget, a bit of an event going on, just fill us in on who you are and what's happening today.
00:06Yes, we're Shropshire WI and we have got our show, so we're showcasing all our members exhibits.
00:14We've got all the WI's in the county have been asked if they'd come and show what they do.
00:22How many WI's are there roughly in the county?
00:24We've got 103 WI's. Wow. Yeah and did you want to know when WI started? Yeah that'd be, yeah what's that?
00:32It was started on the 16th of September 1915. Yeah. This is why we celebrate WI day around this time of the year.
00:43So this is a bit of an annual event here at the Abbey isn't it? This is our second year now.
00:47Fantastic and it obviously went well last year because you're here again.
00:51It's great and there's some interesting stuff in there in the exhibits.
00:55So is the idea just to kind of a celebration of what you do and just to kind of inform you know
01:01people because not everyone knows what the WI is about. If I was to say to you what is kind of,
01:06what is the WI about? Why should I get involved? What do you get out of it yourself personally?
01:12I love WI, it's probably taken over most of my life I think. Yeah. I get so much out of it and
01:19I think a lot of other WI ladies do as well. Plus I've made an awful lot of friends through WI.
01:26So a massive social network side to it. So how long have you been involved yourself then? Go on.
01:32I joined WI in 1973. Yeah. Which was your local branch then? I lived in Suffolk at that time
01:43although I was born and bred in Pondsbury. Yeah. So I started in a WI called Claire in Suffolk.
01:52Yeah. So you found the light and came back to Shropshire? I did. It's a beautiful place isn't it?
01:58It's lovely. Well enjoy your day and thank you for inviting the Shropshire Star Down Bridget.
02:02Thank you. Okay thanks very much.
02:14Saw a train, second night on the mine. I stopped and leaned on the smoky green.
02:28Dirty old town, dirty old town.
02:36Cows are drinking their broccoli. Calfs are farting on their knees.
02:50Slaves the girls in the street are coming. Dirty old town, dirty old town.
03:05You can give him anything, just for the camera.
