00:00Manila and Manila Water will implement changes to the water supply after the MWSS Regulatory Office approved its foreign currency differential adjustments.
00:11Clay Zalpardilla is in the center of the news. Clay.
00:14Yes, Anjuli. The Metropolitan Water Works and Sewerage System Regulatory Office has already approved the foreign currency differential adjustments of Manila and Manila Water.
00:26The FCDA is looking into how to recover the lost foreign currency from the movement of Pesos Contra Dollars.
00:35This is also what is being sold to return to consumers the excess water companies.
00:42Manila will implement a reduction of Pesos Contra Dollars of P29 per cubic meter on its average basic charge.
00:51This is equivalent to P30 less than P20 per cubic meter and P6 less than P30 per cubic meter.
01:03Manila Water's customers will feel the increase. The increase in the basic charge is P85 per cubic meter.
01:11This will increase the bill from P8 to P16 for consumers of P20 to P30 cubic meters of water.
01:21Consumers, Anjuli, will pay to the water concessionaires for their projects so that they can provide sufficient and clean water.
01:32This is also what Atty. Patrick P, the chief regulator of MWSSRO, said.
01:38That's right. MWSSRO is assessing the application of both Manila Water and Manila. Based on our findings, there is an increase and decrease.
01:50Because Pesos were devalued compared to Dollars, there is an increase in Manila Water customers.
01:59But in Manila, they are Yen-denominated. That's why there is a rollback because Yen appreciated Pesos compared to Yen.
02:14Anjuli, MWSSRO clarified that it is exempted or there is no increase or decrease in the bill of lifeline customers.
02:26Those are the poorest families in Metro Manila who are consuming 10 cubic meters of water.
02:34That's the latest. Let's go back to you Anjuli.
02:37Yes, Clayzel. Pesos increased again. Two Pesos compared to U.S. Dollars. Does this mean that they will adjust again in the next week or month?
02:53The good news Anjuli is that this will not happen every month, but quarterly. We will wait for other adjustments if it will have an effect on the next quarter.
03:04That's the latest, Anjuli.
03:06Thank you very much, Clayzel Pardilla.
