00:00who were also keen to keep their 100% record intact
00:03as they took on Motherwell at Petaudry.
00:08Jimmy Tolleen's Christine Aberdeen are joint top of the Scottish Premiership
00:13after a perfect front nine.
00:15Tough opposition today inside Petaudry.
00:17Three state victories for Stuart Kettlewell's Motherwell
00:20who are picking up a bit of momentum of their own.
00:23Two teams with good feelings
00:25and managers who feel there is a lot more to achieve for their clubs.
00:31Aberdeen make two changes from their victory against Ross County
00:34before the national break.
00:36Shinnie and Sockler move out with the former out of the squad altogether.
00:40Palaversa and Nisbet make their first dawn starts
00:43with Nisbet looking to build on his late winner in Dingwall.
00:46Leighton Clarkson returns from a shoulder injury and is on the bench,
00:50and he could make his first league appearance of the season.
00:54It's an unchanged Motherwell team after those three straight victories.
00:58Dan Casey was crucial in attack in the last one against St Johnstone,
01:02Stuart Kettlewell has loaned depth in attack with Tony Watt,
01:06Jack Vale and Gerard Tavares from Hibbs.
01:08He could make his Motherwell debut.
01:16Drives it forward, Nisbet caught the touch, McGinn is across.
01:21That's another question.
01:22His own defence there, Nisbet holds up, Keskin in, quick play, Jamie McGrath!
01:28And it just trickles past the post.
01:32A delicate strike from Jamie McGrath.
01:36He's recovered from the head-knock against Ross County a couple of weeks ago.
01:40He's just trying to angle into the side netting.
01:45And you can't come much closer than that.
01:51Lovely move from Wilson.
01:53He's passed another.
01:56Tawanda Mazwanisi.
02:00Played it behind.
02:02Ian Wilson.
02:04Zdravkovsky.
02:07There's a couple of pulls at Jamie McGrath.
02:10Aberdeen's support not happy.
02:13And the referee...
02:15Not impressed with the aftermath either.
02:20Nielsen getting back to his feet.
02:23That was Zdravkovsky.
02:26He was floating.
02:28The referee wouldn't take his name down on the yellow card book there.
02:53Expertly taken by Guy.
02:56And he rushes away.
02:59Patagay!
03:01It's a stunning finish!
03:06Are we going to see the dance moves again?
03:11There we go.
03:15He's sailed away from Davos, Zdravkovsky.
03:19A crowd of Motherwell players around.
03:22Look at that.
03:23Starting from his own half.
03:27Leaving a trail behind.
03:30A stunning finish, in off the post.
03:33Aston Oxford with no chance.
03:35And it's Aberdeen 1, Motherwell 0.
03:48Motherwell looking to inject here.
03:51Molloy's headed away.
03:53Clipped over.
03:54Tony Watt's there!
03:56And Mitov pounces on it at the second attempt.
04:00That's much better from a Motherwell perspective.
04:04They've tested the Aberdeen stopper there.
04:08The substitutes breathing some new life into the team.
04:12It's a stunning finish.
04:13Tony Watt
04:15looking
04:18to get
04:20his Motherwell goal account restarted.
04:31Morris, there's three waiting at the back.
04:35Cut back from Morris!
04:37And it's a stunning finish.
04:39And it's a stunning finish.
04:40Three waiting at the back.
04:42Cut back from Morris!
04:44And headed in by Papaguay!
04:48Another double!
04:53What a story!
04:57Aberdeen moved the ball well.
04:59Morris has looked tricky yet again.
05:01That time he found the space.
05:03Devlin
05:04voided enough to score.
05:07The hands of Oxburgh not strong enough.
05:10And it's Papaguay
05:12who's capitalising.
05:14Moving in towards the post.
05:16His first with some effort.
05:18That one
05:19a lot easier.
05:23It's a standing ovation
05:25for Papaguay.
05:27Five Premiership goals
05:28in four starts.
05:31Another double this afternoon.
05:41They'll
05:42cut back for Tony Watt.
05:44Abiy is there
05:45to turn it in.
05:47There's looks towards the assistant.
05:50But the goal
05:51is awarded.
05:54And Moses Abiy
05:56who struck in injury time
05:58against St Johnstone
06:00for a Motherwell victory
06:02has given the Steelmen
06:04some late-life
06:06in this game.
06:07Here against the Dons.
06:09That worked on the right side.
06:11It was Watt
06:13who directed the ball
06:14into the six-yard area.
06:16Aberdeen maybe just
06:17standing off for the first time
06:19this afternoon.
06:21Abiy in the spot.
06:38Scrappy as Aberdeen
06:40take their eye off it.
06:42Miller.
06:43Tavares
06:45floats it over.
06:47And it's helped to the back.
06:48Abiy is there!
06:51Harmlessly wide in the end.
06:55And Moses Abiy
06:56looking to come up with a double
06:59of Motherwell's own
07:01applying the late pressure.
07:05Nice move to turn it
07:06onto the left foot.
07:08But he just couldn't.
07:13Miller delivers.
07:15And it's clawed away
07:16by Dimitar Mitov.
07:19What a crucial save
07:20that is.
07:22Casey rising.
07:23And Mitov maybe took
07:24a step too far.
07:26But leaning back
07:27he gets the fingertips to it.
07:30And Aberdeen
07:31have to remain alert.
07:37That is full time.
07:39It's 10 out of 10
07:41for Yemi Tilleen.
07:44Aberdeen keep up
07:45their 100% record.
07:49And Yemi Tilleen's
07:50Don's juggernaut continues.
07:53It finishes at the tawdry.
07:56Aberdeen 2
07:57Motherwell 1.
08:00So it was exciting
08:01to learn what football should be.
08:02But we were lucky
08:04and still a
08:05good team performance
08:06to win the game.
08:07And
08:09also the atmosphere.
08:10It was so many people here today
08:12and celebrate together
08:13with them.
08:14And the spirit they gave us
08:15to
08:16make these sacrifices
08:17in the end to win the game.
08:19Well we were coming to
08:20arguably one of the most
08:21difficult places you could
08:22come to at this time
08:23given current form.
08:25And I don't think
08:26we shamed ourselves
08:27but I just spoke to the players
08:28there about us having
08:29a greater belief
08:30at the start of the game
08:31and kind of starting the game
08:32the way that we finished it.
08:33And I think if we do that
08:34I think that we probably
08:35spook Aberdeen more than
08:36what we did in the first half.
08:37And I think we carve out
08:38more opportunities.
08:40We think game by game
08:41so of course we should
08:42also celebrate
08:43the good things.
08:45And tonight we can
08:46enjoy this victory
08:47but then we have to
08:48stay humble
08:49and
08:51take training by training
08:52a good week now.
08:53Prepare for the cup game
08:54and
08:55focus on the right things.
08:58A tenth consecutive win
08:59in all competitions
09:00for Aberdeen.
09:01They are absolutely flying.
09:03It's a great wee habit
09:04to have that isn't it Craig?
09:05Just winning all the time.
09:06It is.
09:07Do you know what's incredible?
09:08It took Aberdeen
09:09until the 20th of December
09:10last year
09:11to get to 15 points.
09:12Is that right?
09:13They're on 15 points already.
09:14So that tells you
09:15how well they've done
09:16and what they went on
09:17about the game.
09:18Everything about them
09:19the hunger,
09:20the togetherness
09:21is clearly led by the manager
09:22but the supporters
09:23the real unity
09:24at Aberdeen.
09:25You can tell by the crowds
09:26over 17,000 for a game
09:27against Motherwell.
09:28A couple of seasons ago
09:29you wouldn't have heard of that.
09:30So great from that point of view
09:31good for the league
09:3214 points above hearts
09:33if you're sitting
09:34at the bottom of the table.
09:35So it's all good
09:36up in the Granite City.
09:37It certainly is.
09:38Papa Gay
09:40what a revelation he's been
09:42since the start of the season
09:43that was his fifth
09:44well fourth and fifth goals
09:45today
09:46and five appearances
09:47in the league.
09:48Unbelievable
09:49two totally different
09:50types of goals
09:51but this is just amazing
09:52individual goal
09:54from Papa Gay.
09:55Once he gets into his stride
09:57he looks so quick
09:58he looks so powerful
09:59and still a lot to do there.
10:00I think everybody
10:01including the goalkeeper
10:02thought he was going to
10:03shape it far side.
10:04Yeah because I think
10:05Drakowski
10:06I think it's lazy
10:07defending from him
10:08I think he needs to
10:09match him down the line.
10:10In case he's got to
10:11maybe show him his left foot
10:12but absolutely top drawer
10:13from Papa Gay
10:14to give everyone the eyes
10:15and then off the post.
10:16And this one
10:17I think this one
10:18will please him
10:19in terms of
10:20the poachers goals.
10:21I mean these are
10:22the Mioski goals
10:23that you're thinking
10:24Aberdeen might not be getting
10:25with losing him
10:26in the summer.
10:27So to have a striker
10:28that's capable
10:29of the top goal scorer
10:30in these types of goals.
10:31Yeah but you think
10:32of a player
10:33completely rejuvenated
10:34because of the change
10:35in management.
10:36It cost him
10:37£500,000.
10:38You can't just
10:39write that off.
10:40You have to try and
10:41get the best out of someone
10:42that just shows you
10:43the mannerisms
10:44the management skills
10:45the calmness
10:46the composure of the manager
10:47to get the best out of him
10:48and suddenly now
10:49he's trusting himself
10:50he's believing himself
10:51and he's looking
10:52a real handful.
10:53You know you're talking
10:54about the manager there
10:55I mean Jimmy Tolleen
10:56I don't think even him
10:57and his wildest dreams
10:58could have thought
10:59of a better man
11:00but what has he brought
11:01to the club
11:02for both of you?
11:03Yeah well I was one
11:04that thought
11:05why don't they try
11:06and get him in earlier
11:07so that he gets to know
11:08the players
11:09gets to know the club
11:10and he hits the ground running.
11:11I mean how could you
11:12hit the ground running
11:13anyways?
11:14Absolutely amazing
11:15and with Spartans at home
11:16next week in the quarterfinal
11:17Chance to get into
11:18the semi-final
11:19to be at hand.
11:20I think it's just
11:21a different way of managing.
11:22He never seems flustered
11:23he seems always quite calm
11:24his team seem quite calm
11:25I mean the last 10 minutes
11:26they were under
11:27a little bit of pressure
11:28but when you listen
11:29to him speaking
11:30and I've heard him speaking
11:31before at half-time
11:32when they haven't been
11:33playing well
11:34and he said after
11:35I was calm
11:36I just reminded him
11:37what they're good at
11:38what we've worked on
11:39who we are
11:40who we're trying to be
11:41and I think fine
11:42you don't need to manage
11:43getting in and shouting
11:44and screaming
11:45completely manages
11:46a different way
11:47and that's a skill to have
11:48and he certainly got it.
11:49I think the meet-off save
11:50is crucial
11:51in terms of
11:52it's the type of goal
11:53they've been losing
11:54in the last few years
11:55goalkeeping departments
11:56maybe not what it quite was
11:57but that's an extra
11:58two points he's brought
11:59to Everdeen.
12:00From a Motherwell
12:01point of view
12:02Stephen
12:03they didn't seem
12:04too despondent
12:05Stuart Kettlewell
12:06there at the end
12:07of the match
12:08they wanted to have
12:09a better goal
12:10at the start of the game
12:11they definitely improved
12:12as the game went on
12:13the subs had a bit
12:14of an impact as well.
12:15I think he summed it up
12:16perfectly
12:17that they lacked
12:18a little bit of punch
12:19in the first half
12:20they lacked a little
12:21bit of belief
12:22and trust in themselves
12:23now they were going
12:24there on the back
12:25of three wins
12:26and that shows you
12:27the problems you can cause
12:28so I'm sure that's the
12:29evidence he'll use
12:30for next week
12:31Friday night against
12:32Dundee United
12:33quarterfinal of the cup
12:34huge game at Farr Park
12:35with a big crowd
12:36start the way you
12:37finish this game.
12:38St Johnson travelled
12:39to the capital
12:40to face Hibernian
12:41who were looking
12:42for a first win
12:43of the season
12:44under new manager
12:45David Gray
12:46at Easter Road.
12:47Hibernian have failed
12:48to win any of their
12:49first four league games
12:50for the first time
12:51in 22 years
12:52and it's 39 years
12:53since they went five
12:54without victory
12:55and that's the tag
12:56David Gray's Hibs
12:57are seeking to avoid
12:58this afternoon.
12:59It's not often a Hibs
13:00team has been named
13:01without Joe Newell in it
13:02but he misses out
13:03because of a hernia
13:04operation.
13:05Lewis Miller and
13:06Martin Boyle drop to
13:07the bench
13:08in come Nicky and
13:09Chris Cadden
13:10and Eli Yuan makes
13:11his first league start
13:12of the season.
13:13Craig Levine's
13:14without Adama Sidibe
13:15and now Jack Sanders
13:16due to suspension
13:17so Aaron Essel
13:18drops back into
13:19defence.
13:20Cammy McPherson
13:21makes way as fellow
13:22midfielders
13:23Sven Sprengler
13:25Smith
13:27and Malotnikov
13:28is nipped in
13:29and he's got
13:30Nicky Cadden
13:31in support
13:32it's Cadden
13:34well that wasn't
13:35a million miles away
13:36from Nicky Cadden
13:39an early sighter
13:40for the Hibs man
13:43Jason Holt
13:44done here
13:45by Malotnikov
13:47kept the shot low
13:48but couldn't find
13:49the bottom corner
13:52well how David Gray
13:53could do
13:54with that first
13:55league win
13:56as the permanent
13:57Hibs head coach
14:00here's Nicky Clark
14:04well he struck this
14:05pretty sweetly
14:06Nicky Clark
14:07but Bursic
14:08was never really
14:09troubled
14:17and Kimpioka
14:19dispossessed
14:20but has it back
14:24drives forward
14:28work to the other
14:29side now
14:30and Smith
14:32Smith pulls
14:33the trigger
14:35harmless
14:36in the end
14:37from the St. Johnson
14:38midfielder
14:42Bursic probably
14:43had it covered as well
14:44he dived across
14:46got to hit the target
14:54Smith
14:55looks for an option
14:57and it's intercepted
14:59and here come Hibs
15:01wide for Cadden
15:03he's got space
15:04to cross
15:06and he tried
15:07to pick out
15:08a teammate in the middle
15:09Kourevic was in there
15:10Hibs still have it
15:11it's Kwon
15:12shapes one
15:15well you could see
15:16what Kwon Hyuk-kyu
15:17was trying to do there
15:20he had the keeper
15:21flat footed
15:23initial
15:24cross cut out
15:25from Cadden
15:28and Kwon just trying to
15:29bend this into the bottom
15:30corner
15:32not a million miles away
15:38Kwon's header
15:39Malotnikov
15:41Kourevic
15:42and that is going to be
15:43a handball against
15:44Jason Holt
15:47who looks rather
15:48remused at the decision
15:50that's right at him
15:53and there's the two minutes
15:54of added time
15:55at the end of this first half
15:58it's floated in
15:59by Niki Cadden
16:00Ek-Peteta gets off
16:01and there's Kourevic
16:05and there is the opening
16:06goal for Hibernian
16:14and the Hibs fans
16:16enjoy
16:17some life from their team
16:18at the end of this first half
16:21there's been precious
16:22little go mouth action
16:25but Hibs capitalise
16:26on a set piece
16:27good header across
16:28from Ek-Peteta
16:29and Kourevic just gets
16:30the merest of touches
16:31on this
16:32ahead of Ross Sinclair
16:38Junior Hoylett
16:39the half time sub
16:40ready to arrow this
16:41to the back post
16:42Ek-Peteta's touch
16:43St Johnston
16:44sclaff at him
16:45here's Kwon
16:48and he knows
16:49that was a poor effort
16:52that wasn't an easy
16:53chance this for Kwon
16:55delicately waited in
16:56from Hoylett
16:57St Johnston
16:58don't deal with a set piece
16:59again
17:00he's got to keep it lower
17:08that drops for Hoylett
17:09uses his body well
17:10and he's teed up
17:11Molotnikov
17:12good save
17:13Ross Sinclair
17:17now St Johnston's
17:18number one
17:20and he proved his worth
17:21here
17:22it's just a route one
17:23ball
17:25Hoylett reads it well
17:26picks up the scraps
17:28nudges it to Molotnikov
17:29he does everything
17:30right really
17:35Hibs have already
17:37dropped four points
17:38from winning positions
17:39in the Premiership
17:40this season
17:41they could really do
17:43with adding a second goal
17:44as St Johnston
17:46search for an equaliser
17:47but that's careless
17:48from Kempioka
17:49and Boyle will spring
17:50the counter-attack
17:52comes back to him
17:53and he's laid it on
17:54brilliantly for Kuharevic
17:57but Ross Sinclair
17:59read that really well
18:02rapid off his line
18:04and he absolutely had to be
18:06bail St Johnston out
18:07big time here
18:11Kempioka
18:17Ekpeteta
18:18for Ahura
18:19captaining the side
18:20in the absence of Newell
18:21this afternoon
18:23Cadent
18:24takes that nicely
18:26and now he's put
18:27Martin Boyle away
18:28Martin Boyle's into the box
18:30and makes it 2-0
18:35it's a sumptuous
18:36dig from Martin Boyle
18:41and Easter Road celebrates
18:43because this could be
18:44a massive goal
18:46in the tenure of David Gray
18:49and it's what Martin Boyle
18:50is all about
18:51raw pace
18:52and he's got the composure
18:53at the end to match
18:58Hebb's still pressing
18:59Obita
19:01and that's going to be
19:02kept in
19:03here's Campbell
19:05Boyle
19:07still going Boyle
19:08he's got the ball
19:11most of Easter Road
19:12thought that was sneaking
19:13into the bottom corner
19:17he's in the mood
19:18Martin Boyle
19:19starting on the bench
19:20this afternoon
19:21he's come on
19:22and made a real impact
19:24and he just
19:25did really well to
19:26ride a couple of challenges
19:27here
19:28just wide
19:32Kempioka
19:33will go after this
19:35Ekpeteta
19:36with the tackle
19:38Ekpeteta
19:39and that's rash
19:40from Kempioka
19:42and Nick Walsh
19:43the referee
19:44takes his time
19:45and flashes the red card
19:46Benjamin Kempioka
19:49and it is the third
19:50week in a row
19:51that Saints have had
19:52someone sent off
19:53in the closing stages
19:56it's pure frustration
19:59it's high
20:00it's reckless
20:02and it's poor
20:03from the Saints striker
20:09and there it is
20:10the first
20:11Premiership win of the season
20:12for David Gray
20:13and Hibberdian
20:14a fourth defeat on the spin
20:15for Craig Levine
20:16Saint Johnston
20:17more smiles at Easter Road
20:18Hibs 2
20:19Saint Johnston 0
20:21delighted with the three points
20:22you know it's something
20:24we've not had this season
20:25we've had
20:26been close
20:27but we've seen progression
20:28in all the games we've played
20:29and like I said
20:30before the game
20:31I'm seeing it in training all the time
20:32it's up to the players now
20:33to try and get that onto the pitch
20:34and I thought especially
20:35second half we'd done that
20:36so delighted with the three points
20:37it felt relatively good
20:38in the first half
20:39and you know
20:40I think it was a real body blow
20:41to go in
20:42behind
20:43after
20:44I considered it would be
20:45a good first half
20:46a good first half performance
20:47away from home
20:48in the Premier League
20:49but the second half performance
20:50wasn't good enough
20:52we need to do much better than that
20:55David win
20:56for Hibs today
20:57at Easter Road
20:58Stephen again
20:59they needed that
21:00didn't they?
21:01yeah that's what it was all about
21:02today for Hibs
21:03and David Gray
21:04you speak about strikers
21:05new strikers getting their first goal
21:06David Gray
21:07I know he's been the caretaker
21:08and he's led Hibs to league wins
21:09but
21:10there was a lot of noise over
21:11this game today
21:12and could Hibs go and win
21:13they were the favourites to win
21:14and could they go and get
21:15their first league win
21:16as the permanent manager for Hibs
21:17and
21:18he'll enjoy that today
21:19it just takes a wee bit of
21:20the pain off doesn't it?
21:21the clean sheet
21:22yeah
21:23a risk free defence
21:24which has been their downfall
21:25they've been the masters
21:26of their own downfall
21:27when you look back at their goals
21:28they've conceded
21:29they've been involved
21:30in so many of themselves
21:31their own mistakes
21:32so that will be huge for the manager
21:33and it's just that pressure
21:34has just started to evaporate
21:35was it the perfect day
21:36perfect performance
21:37sorry
21:38it wasn't the perfect performance
21:39it was the perfect day
21:40to get three points
21:41it's something to build from
21:42it gives you a solid base
21:43they do have to be better than that
21:44but
21:45you think with the players
21:46they still have to come back
21:47they will be
21:48let's take a wee look
21:49at the goals
21:50Kukerevic and Boyle
21:51with a lovely finish
21:52at the end of the game
21:53but Kukerevic first
21:54well we're talking about
21:55Hibs conceding
21:56poor goals
21:57St Johnston
21:58and goalkeepers unfortunately
21:59haven't covered themselves
22:00in glory
22:01it was Josh Ray
22:02up at Tannadice
22:03it was Ross Sinclair
22:04in this game
22:05again it's just a simple
22:06ball into the box
22:07you don't win the first one
22:08and then
22:09whether it's goalkeeper
22:10hesitant
22:11whether it's Kyle Cameron
22:12being a little bit hesitant
22:13it's just such a soft ball
22:14to give away
22:15he's just going to take command of that
22:16for me
22:17Mitov keeps that out
22:18this is the biggest positive
22:19I think on the day
22:20for Hibs
22:21this is Martin Boyle
22:22he's absolute best
22:23I thought he had a
22:24major impact
22:25when he came on
22:26and he can transform Hibs
22:27I think
22:28probably last season
22:29was maybe one he's poorer
22:30I tell you what
22:31that's some pass through
22:32to him right enough as well
22:33he's in that form
22:34and he's as sharp as that
22:35you just feed the grass
22:36and he gets on to it
22:37and everyone's thinking
22:38you wouldn't have liked
22:39chasing him
22:40Craggs would you?
22:41No I wouldn't have chased him
22:42but that just shows you
22:43that Martin Boyle
22:44has lost his confidence
22:45a little bit
22:46he hasn't looked the same
22:47playing probably the last year
22:48but that game suited him
22:49St Johnstone
22:50trailing by a goal
22:51they're having to push up
22:52the pitch
22:53there's lots of space
22:54for him to play in
22:55he now has to bring
22:56that kind of form
22:57into his starting game
22:58and you're talking about
22:59St Johnstone
23:00scoring that first goal
23:01that's four times
23:02this season
23:03they've conceded the first goal
23:04which means they have to open up
23:05and teams can catch them
23:06in the counter attack
23:07and I'm going to bore you
23:08with stats
23:09no one in the premiership
23:10this season
23:11no one
23:1229 games played
23:13has conceded the first goal
23:14and come back to win a game
23:15so that shows the importance
23:16of getting the first goal
23:17in the Scottish Premiership
23:18it means you can sit in
23:19and change your game
23:20Yeah for St Johnstone
23:21it's three straight defeats
23:22they've got three
23:23very tough games
23:24coming up actually
23:25they're away to county
23:26then Celtic
23:27then Rangers
23:28maybe going to be
23:29a rough patch
23:30this for them
23:31Do you think they've got
23:32enough in that squad
23:33that Craig Levine's built
23:34to come out the other side
23:35and start to build
23:36and are they going to be
23:37struggling for the rest
23:38of the season
23:39in your opinion?
23:40I'm uncomfortable
23:41with a lot of aspects
23:42of St Johnstone at the minute
23:43I covered the game
23:44a couple of weeks ago
23:45and I thought there was
23:46a real lack of leadership
23:47within it
23:48I'm uncomfortable
23:49with the goalkeeping department
23:50having lost Mitov
23:51I think both goalkeepers
23:52have come in
23:53and looked really shaky
23:54I don't like
23:55the club captain
23:56being a lone player
23:57I'm really uncomfortable
23:58with that
23:59when you think
24:00of some of the leaders
24:01they've had
24:02over the years
24:03as a Premier League club
24:04as a real solid
24:05Premier League club
24:06and I think
24:07the whole day
24:08was summed up
24:09with Kimpioka
24:10Well let's take a look
24:11at his contributions
24:12shall we say
24:13he didn't have
24:14the best of days
24:15I mean when a team starts
24:16this is
24:17I know
24:18the modern player
24:19they don't really like
24:20the old big shin guards
24:21they try and keep
24:22but starting without
24:23the equipment
24:24putting a delay
24:25to the game
24:26and then this
24:27this is just
24:28this is just
24:29like a lash out
24:30it's not going your day
24:31the team's
24:32it's not going right
24:33for the team
24:34I'm just going to get
24:35myself suspended
24:36on top of the
24:37Sidibe suspension
24:38where are the leaders
24:39in this team
24:40who is
24:41who's grabbing
24:42their teammates
24:43and saying
24:44we need to get better
24:45we need to stick together
24:46as a team
24:47Do you both think
24:48it's a red card for us
24:49Yeah yeah
24:50I mean you can take
24:51your pick
24:52it's excessive force
24:53and he's out of control
24:54He's definitely
24:55out of control
24:56He's endangering
24:57the safety of the opponent
24:58It was just chaos
24:59some ridiculous decisions
25:00players
25:01doing crazy things
25:02It has been a crazy week
25:03and there have been
25:04a lot of managers
25:05looking at their players
25:06and saying
25:07what's going on
25:08so it looks
25:09on that form
25:10it's going to be
25:11a long season
25:12for St Johnson
25:13Kempioka's now
25:14going to probably
25:15miss three games
25:16Sidibe's still missing
25:17three games
25:18McKenzie Kirk
25:19is out with an injury
25:20so that's three strikers
25:21and a team that's
25:22struggling
25:23If you're a manager
25:24and you're managing
25:25a team
25:26and you lose Sidibe
25:27at the very start
25:28of the season
25:29people were sort of saying
25:30St Johnson look as though
25:31they've got a wee bit more
25:32about them up top
25:33this season
25:34a wee bit more threat
25:35The black to cut the edge
25:36suddenly
25:37The indiscipline of the players
25:38is now costing them
25:39When you're playing well
25:40you need your best players
25:41but you can maybe
25:42when you're playing
25:43with confidence
25:44you can maybe afford
25:45the odd suspension
25:46the odd injury
25:47They need everyone
25:48and together
25:49they're in a bad place
25:50at the minute
25:51and they need everyone
25:52to be chipping in
25:53They can't be losing
25:54players to suspensions
25:55Much like Hibbs
25:56Ross County were searching
25:57for a first premiership
25:58win this afternoon
25:59Their opponents today
26:00in the Highlands
26:01were the second highest
26:02scorers in the league
26:03Dundee
26:07A windy afternoon
26:08in the Scottish Highlands
26:09as winless Ross County
26:10play host to the top scorers
26:11in Scottish domestic football
26:12Dundee with 33 goals
26:13in their nine matches
26:14in all competitions
26:15this season
26:16Three changes
26:17for Don Cowie's side
26:18following their narrow defeat
26:19to Aberdeen
26:20two weeks ago
26:21Campbell makes
26:22his first start
26:23with Chelbers
26:24preferred to Denham
26:25in midfield
26:26while White returns
26:27to the starting line-up
26:28to partner Hale
26:29in attack
26:30Tony Daugherty
26:31makes three changes
26:32to the team
26:33which threw it home
26:34to St Mirren
26:35a fortnight ago
26:36Ingram
26:37Mulligan
26:38and Palmer Holden
26:39come in to the side
26:40with McGee
26:41Braybrooke
26:42and Main
26:43dropping to the bench
26:44High goes from Cameron
26:45and an early free kick
26:46to Dundee
26:49A follow from
26:50Kasper Lopata
26:56and it comes from Cameron
26:58headed away
27:01Nice first touch
27:02from Ronan Hale
27:04in that
27:05tussle with the
27:06Dundee defender
27:07but plays it away
27:08to Chelbers
27:10Brown takes over
27:12hanging ball in
27:13Jordan White is there
27:15and just couldn't finish
27:18Chelbers
27:20seems to have the
27:21beating of Ingram
27:24Referee judging that
27:25to have came off
27:26the Dundee defender
27:32Chelbers
27:33sent it in deep
27:34up goes right
27:36and Akil White
27:37gets it
27:38and it's in
27:39and it's in
27:40and it's in
27:41and it's in
27:42and it's in
27:43and it's in
27:44and it's in
27:45and it's in
27:46Akil White
27:47puts Ross County
27:48into the lead
27:53the defender getting
27:54his first goal
27:55in Scottish football
27:58A brilliant delivery
27:59from Noah Chelbers
28:00Wright just peeled off
28:02at the back towards
28:03timed his run
28:04to perfection
28:06got the better of
28:07Ingram and
28:08powered at home
28:16Power-holding.
28:21Cometeo.
28:23Finds Simon Murray.
28:25Real chance! And Simon Murray finds the net!
28:29But hang on a minute.
28:31Murray denied a goal on his return to Dingwall by the offside flag.
28:37Get a chance to see it again here.
28:44Cometeo, fantastically weighted pass, but Murray just a yard offside,
28:50slightly overeager to make an impression on his Dingwall return.
29:02Here's Wright.
29:04He rides the challenge really well into Captain Connor Randall.
29:10And he had so much time and space in the area.
29:13Maybe too much time and space.
29:16Not known for his goal-scoring prowess as Connor Randall.
29:20But certainly a good chance.
29:23Found space in the box and just pulled the shot wide.
29:30Real chance for County to double their lead.
29:35Tussle in the area, but play allowed to continue with Chilvers.
29:40And it's a Ross County corner.
29:47Chilvers to take the set-piece, having set up County's first goal
29:51from a similar situation.
29:55Referee Grant Irvine just bringing proceedings to a halt
29:59as there is a VAR check for a potential penalty.
30:03We may get a better look at it here.
30:07And you just see Ethan Ingram with his hands all over Jordan White.
30:12Down the County striker went and it's over to the monitor for the referee.
30:24A real handful or two hands full of County jersey.
30:32And it is a penalty kick.
30:34A huge opportunity for Ross County to double their lead.
30:39They've had two penalties already this season.
30:43Neither converted.
30:45But it's Jordan White who tucks it away and makes it 2-0 in the Highlands.
30:56Profe missed one a few weeks back, as did Ronan Hale against Aberdeen.
31:00But Jordan White making no mistake.
31:04Just gave him a crack in the eyes, wrong-footed him,
31:07and confidently tucked it away.
31:21Larkesh driving into the area, down he goes.
31:26But the decision goes the other way.
31:29He will be looking for the French full-back after the tango with Brown.
31:35Positive play from the left-back.
31:38I think he may be looking for that.
31:42Scheller.
31:44McGee.
31:48Murray.
31:50In goes Laffata.
31:52Murray goes down.
31:55And the Dundee players are absolutely furious.
31:58Laffata.
32:00Murray.
32:02Scheller.
32:04McGee.
32:06Murray.
32:08And goes Laffata.
32:10Laffata won the first challenge, and I tell you what...
32:16There may have been a foul in there.
32:19You see the leg left in by Laffata over Murray Wendt, but no penalty.
32:30Here's Jordan White with a chance to line one up.
32:34He was aiming for that top corner, but...
32:37McCracken.
32:38Sharp reflexes to deny the striker.
32:42McCracken away on international duty with Scotland just last week.
32:47Showing all his quality there.
32:50Plenty of power on the effort from White, and McCracken there to meet it.
32:56Bartalas.
32:59Braybrooke.
33:01Slides one for Adewumi.
33:03Inviting ball across, and...
33:05Simon Murray making a good run towards the back post, but...
33:09Just couldn't quite get there.
33:14All of a sudden, Adewumi, a late loan signing from Burnley in the window.
33:19Almost making a big impact off the bench.
33:29Here's Randle.
33:31Camelot County find a third.
33:34Good hands from McCracken.
33:36Swept away by Cometeo.
33:39Greaves.
33:42Less one fly, but...
33:44Just too central.
33:53And it's all over in the Highlands.
33:55Ross County pick up their first win of the Premiership campaign.
33:59And bring to an end Dundee's unbeaten start
34:02for the season.
34:04Final score ending 1-1, Ross County 2, Dundee 0.
34:09We worked extremely hard, again, out of possession.
34:12We limited Dundee to very few opportunities.
34:15And that's the fundamentals, that's the base that we want to work from.
34:19And then we managed to get the two goals, so absolutely delighted.
34:22To lose the goal right on half to 47th minute, I think, before we go in.
34:26I was just saying to the staff, if we're in here at 1-0,
34:28we regroup, we get them together and we'll be OK.
34:30We lose that second goal, and I've got to question it.
34:32Again, it's a VAR intervention, because there's nobody in the pitch
34:35claimed for that, not one person.
34:37And I think Ethan Ingram goes up and he wins the header.
34:40And then he's way down, he does grab.
34:41There's no doubt about it, he does grab.
34:43Jordan went, does that affect the play?
34:45Does that affect what happens in the direction the balls went?
34:47And I would question that.
34:49I've come out and I've said I'm an advocate of VAR,
34:51but I think that was the wrong decision today.
34:53And it contributed to us going 2-0 down.
34:57As a unit, I thought they were excellent.
34:59We were really disappointed in the way we defended away to Rangers.
35:03And we've really worked it over the last three, four weeks
35:06in terms of being tighter as a unit.
35:09And I think you've seen that against Aberdeen,
35:11and I've seen it even better again today.
35:13So really happy with what they're doing.
35:16Ross County get their first win of the season,
35:19with an impressive win, it has to be said, in Dingwall.
35:22Shall we just go for one more VAR intervention before the night's out?
35:25I mean, we're running out of time, so we might as well crush another one in.
35:28Tony Docherty clearly doesn't think that this warranted VAR getting involved.
35:32What's your thoughts on it, Gareth?
35:34Well, I have to say, Tony Docherty's explanation is understandable,
35:38that Ethan Ingram wins the header, he does grab Jordan White,
35:42doesn't impact the play, doesn't impact the ball at all.
35:45I have to question the wisdom of Ethan Ingram.
35:48Why do you want to pull him down then?
35:50Why are you giving the referee and VAR an opportunity
35:53to have a look at something of pulling a jersey with inside a box?
35:56That's the bit I can't fathom out.
35:58That's it. You associate pulling someone back,
36:00if maybe they get a run on you at a corner and you pull them back,
36:03maybe prevent a goal or prevent a goal-scoring opportunity,
36:06but there's absolutely no need.
36:08And with VAR in play, he's given the referee...
36:10It looked to me like he was kind of falling,
36:12and he was just holding on to him for balance,
36:15to keep himself from falling to the ground.
36:17Well, that's how you think it looks, but VAR doesn't think that way.
36:19It doesn't think, well, he's maybe trying to protect himself.
36:21They look and think, is he impeding the opponent?
36:23Is he pulling the jersey clearly with two hands?
36:25Yes, he is.
36:26So that's a big frustration, and Tony said right on half-time,
36:28which would have meant one dollar half-time,
36:30they probably would have fancied their chances in the second half.
36:32But you've got to say, well done, Ross County.
36:34100%.
36:35The last three games there, lost away to Spartans in the Cup,
36:37lost at Hampden Park and lost that 97th goal against Aberdeen.
36:40That would have been a long international break.
36:42They'd have been desperate for this game today,
36:44and their appetite showed they were ready for it.
36:46It'll give them a huge boost, won't it?
36:48Don Kelly and the rest of the team, to get that first win.
36:50And you need to turn those home games into a place
36:53where teams are going to hate going to Dingwall.
36:55Yeah, and Stephen touched on it, I thought,
36:57losing that late goal just before an international break,
37:00falling on from a real heavy one at Rangers,
37:02the Spartans, Don Kelly obviously,
37:04his first full season in there, how are they going to react?
37:08And he'll be so proud of what they gave today.
37:11Really well worthy of their win today,
37:13and delighted with the clean sheet.
37:16OK, let's have a wee look at the table, will we?
37:20Celtic's win keeps them top on goal difference from Aberdeen.
37:23St Mirren's point has them in seventh place.
37:26Hibson County on the same points, just behind,
37:29and its hearts at the bottom with just one point from five games.
37:34Lots of football to come this week, as ever,
37:36starting tomorrow with the Dundee native Rangers game on radio,
37:39that's at 11.45.
37:41Off the ball, well, that'll follow it at three o'clock.

38:14Thanks to the Stephens for joining me on a day that VAR reminded us
38:18that it hasn't gone away.
38:20Goodnight.
38:45Back the gate.
38:47Oh, it's a stunning finish.
