00:00The Elite Men's and Women's National Squash Championship was officially held this weekend.

00:06But what helped this kind of competition for the Cayote, Philippines National Squash Team?

00:13This is Paolo Salamatin's report.

00:17New athletes will also be able to discover.

00:20This is one of the goals of the Philippine Squash Academy

00:23in organizing the just-finished Elite Men's and Women's Division I and II

00:27Philippine National Squash Championship this week at the National Squash Center in Malate, Manila.

00:33The Junior Squashers, like Carl Carillo and Lyra Trasmil,

00:40who were champions in the Division I and Division II categories, showed off their skills in the competition.

00:43Aside from the juniors, the new champion of the PSA National Championships

00:48is the Filipino Squasher, Raymarc Begorna.

00:51Meanwhile, Squasher Jemai Caribado maintained her crown as the Women's Elite Champion of the competition.

00:59It's a huge thing for me to help my PSA ranking

01:03and it's a huge chance for me to participate in bigger tournaments.

01:09For example, I participated in the PSA satellite 3K event.

01:15Those are the points that will help me improve my ranking.

01:21The new foreign head coach and former World No. 5, Wewern Low,

01:26also enjoyed the performance of the National Squashers in the competition.

01:30You know, for them to have someone new, it takes some time for them to trust me.

01:35So I think we are working towards that and we're starting to see a little bit more results with the players.

01:41For now, the competition will continue as preparation for the next two competitions next month.
