00:00Hello, movies in short here. Today for you we are working on a resume of an American horror movie called The Boy. Pay attention to spoilers.
00:08A woman named Greta Evans travels to Great Britain where she gets a job as a maid by a rich family.
00:14On her arrival, she at the same time takes off her clothes and looks around the villa because the owner is not there.
00:19She is surprised by the arrival of a man named Malcolm. Malcolm is a local delivery man who often comes back.
00:25Malcolm offers Greta a tour. Not long after, the old woman comes, that is, Mrs. Hellshire, who is the wife of the owner of the house.
00:33Mrs. Hellshire asks where Greta's clothes are. Greta shows where she took them off and she is surprised because they are not there.
00:41Mrs. Hellshire mentions that this is the part of her son. Then Mrs. Hellshire calls Greta to meet her husband, Mr. Hellshire.
00:50Then she introduces him to the boy she should protect. But to her surprise, it turns out that this boy is a porcelain doll called Brams.
00:59She laughs, thinking it's a joke, but Mrs. and Mr. Hellshire look serious.
01:05Mrs. tells Greta that a lot of money has been announced for the job, but Brams returned them because they are neither young nor beautiful.
01:12She teaches Greta how to protect Brams, that is, she leaves a list of strict rules to follow.
01:17This includes reading Brams in a loud and intelligible voice, playing loud music for him, leaving leftovers in the fridge,
01:24placing mice traps and giving Brams a kiss for a good night.
01:28Mrs. Hellshire tells Greta that Brams is very shy and only moves when no one is looking at him.
01:34Mr. and Mrs. Hellshire then ask Brams about Greta. Greta feels strange with those who are watching.
01:41Mr. Hellshire closes the door to have privacy.
01:44Then the two of them go out and tell Greta that Brams likes Greta and wants her to protect him.
01:49Greta calls her sister to tell her about the experience in the house.
01:54The next day, Greta hears Mrs. Hellshire being very angry and it turns out that Brams is in her room.
02:01Then Mr. Hellshire comes in, saying that they are going to rest, leaving Greta alone with Brams.
02:07Mr. Hellshire shows Greta some of her list for the next few days.
02:12After they leave, Greta begins to ignore the rules, leaving Brams alone.
02:16Greta is awakened by strange sounds in the middle of the night, and she at the same time tries to find the source of that strange sound.
02:23While in front of the picture...
02:31Suddenly, a hand comes out of the wall to choke her.
02:34It turns out that it was a nightmare.
02:36Then Greta checks Brams' room and sees how his tears flow out of his eyes.
02:40When she checks a little better, it turns out that the water is leaking from the ceiling.
02:44That night, Greta gets a call.
02:46But when she picks up the phone, no one talks.
02:49In the morning, Malcolm comes to deliver the supplies and Greta asks him a few questions about Brams.
02:54Malcolm replies that Brams was once a real boy and that he was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Hellshire.
03:01But then, one day, their house caught fire, and Brams failed to escape in time and died that day.
03:07The doll is simply a copy of the family mechanism to make it easier for them to cope with the pain.
03:12Malcolm then calls for a date that night.
03:14Greta answers.
03:15Greta gets ready for a date.
03:17While on the phone with her sister, Greta sees that Brams is watching her, and then closes the door.
03:23Greta is suffocating.
03:24However, she is surprised when she sees that her hair is cut and that her braids and curls are gone.
03:30Then Greta tries to find her, but she is tied to the roof by strange sounds.
03:35She climbs up the shelf, and suddenly the shelves on the roof close by themselves.
03:40Greta is locked inside.
03:42Malcolm comes to pick her up. Greta calls for help, but Malcolm doesn't hear her.
03:46And instead, he leaves.
03:48Greta then tries to find another way out.
03:51Then, all of a sudden, a big shadow appears in front of her face, scaring her.
03:55And she faints.
03:56In the morning, when Greta wakes up, she is mysteriously left outside.
04:00She tells Malcolm what happened last night.
04:03It turns out that the shelves can be lifted and lowered by themselves.
04:06Greta asks Malcolm about Brams again, and he points out that they have two voices about Brams.
04:11There are some people in the city who feel sorry for him because they remember him as a good boy,
04:16but on the other hand, some claim that the boy was evil.
04:19Later that evening, Greta calls her sister again.
04:21Her sister tells her that her violent boyfriend, named Cole, is trying to find out where she is.
04:26Greta hates Cole.
04:28Greta suffered a seizure after being pushed aside by Cole.
04:31Greta then gets ready for bed and brushes her teeth.
04:34Just after she stops brushing, she hears strange sounds coming from Brams' room.
04:39She comes to the room.
04:41Brams' room is very messy, with a lot of old, rotten papers.
04:44She fixes Brams' head, which is twisted, and suddenly the head moves by itself.
04:49But that's just one more night at sea.
04:52The next day, Greta goes to Brams' room and sees that Brams has changed his position.
04:57He sits with her desk next to him, just like asking Greta to listen and do everything as it is written on the desk.
05:04Greta, who is shocked, at the same moment runs out of the room and tries to call her sister.
05:09Suddenly, her phone rings.
05:11While Greta is calling on the phone, the children's voices are heard and Greta says that she respects the rules.
05:16Then Sienna appears under the door and the children's voices are heard.
05:19Greta now realizes that Lutka has a lot more secrets in her than she could have thought.
05:24Lutka is alive.
05:25Greta then opens the door and sees the plate with the sandwich that Brams made.
05:29At that time, Greta has mixed feelings.
05:32It turns out that Brams does not want to hurt her, and he just wants her attention.
05:36She then calls Malcolm and tells him about it, but Malcolm does not take her seriously.
05:41Sienna later discovers how Mrs. and Mr. Hellshire write a letter to Brams that says,
05:46We can not afford to live with what you have become.
05:49The girl is now yours.
05:51After writing this letter, Mr. and Mrs. Hellshire fill their hoods with stone and commit suicide.
05:57Greta now realizes that Brams is just a soul of an innocent little boy to worry about,
06:02and she begins to be good to Brams and does the things that are told to her.
06:06The next day, Malcolm comes with a letter from Mrs. and Mr. Hellshire.
06:10He also asks Greta to go for a walk that evening.
06:13However, Greta now feels responsible for Brams and rejects Malcolm's invitation.
06:18Disappointed, Malcolm leaves.
06:20Greta is then surprised by Brams, who can move things by himself.
06:24The next day, Greta asks Malcolm to come to prove that Brams is actually alive.
06:29At first, she fails to prove it because Lutka only moves when no one is watching her,
06:34so she then leaves Lutka alone and moves.
06:37Eventually, Malcolm believes her.
06:39That night, Malcolm stays with Greta.
06:41The two of them spend time together,
06:43but their activities are stopped by Brams, who is probably tired.
06:47Then the two of them have a conversation in the kitchen.
06:50Malcolm realizes that Greta has begun to care for Brams,
06:53and he warns her by discovering more details about the story that surrounds Brams' death.
06:58According to what he knows, when he was a child,
07:00Brams was playing with another girl of his age called Emily Krebs.
07:05On Brams' 8th birthday, Emily left to play with Brams in the villa and never returned.
07:11Her body was later found in the woods, and her head was twisted.
07:15When the police arrived at the villa to interrogate the young boy,
07:18she was already burned, and Brams was later found dead.
07:21With this, Malcolm concludes that Brams' soul, which had moved to Lutka, could probably be evil.
07:26In the morning, Greta's violent ex-boyfriend Cole appears in the villa,
07:30with the intention of forcing Greta to return home.
07:33For Greta's safety, Malcolm stays nearby.
07:36At night, Greta asks Lutka for help.
07:39Cole wakes up and sees a message written in blood that tells him to leave.
07:43Believing that Greta or Malcolm did it, he gets even more nervous.
07:47Realizing that Brams did it, using the blood of Stakor,
07:50she tries to explain it to him, but refuses to believe her.
07:54Eventually, Malcolm ends up joining them,
07:57and he also tries to convince Cole that there is something much more than Lutka herself.
08:02Cole breaks the film, and he breaks Lutka into pieces.
08:05This is the moment when the lights in the house begin to tremble.
08:08The house begins to shake, and they hear sounds behind the walls.
08:11Cole tries to figure out where the noise is coming from.
08:14Then, all of a sudden, the glass explodes. Cole falls.
08:17From the hole behind, a man appears who pretends to be a real,
08:20and now grown-up Brams, who wears a porcelain mask identical to Lutka's face.
08:25Brams hits Cole and kills him.
08:27Greta and Malcolm discover Brams' room.
08:30In the room, they find Lutka made of Greta's lost scarf,
08:33hair, and a jacket that stands on Brams' bed.
08:36From that room, Brams has been watching Greta all this time.
08:39Greta also finds a letter from the Hellshire family,
08:43revealing their plan to leave Greta as a partner for Brams.
08:47Then, Brams finds them.
08:49Brams knocks out Malcolm, threatening to kill him if Greta leaves.
08:53Greta manages to escape from the house, but returns to save Malcolm.
08:57She arms herself with a screwdriver and remembers the rules,
09:00forcing Brams to go to bed.
09:03He asks her to kiss him goodnight,
09:05and when he tries to kiss her, she kicks him.
09:08Brams tries to choke her, but she pushes the gun deeper, and he falls.
09:12In the final scene of the film, Brams can see how Lutka's work is made,
09:16suggesting that he is probably still alive.
09:19From all of this, we can conclude that Brams never even died.
09:22He has always been a spoiled little child,
09:25who ended up killing Emily Cripps on her eighth birthday.
09:28In order to protect him from the world,
09:30his parents set their own house on fire and lied about his death,
09:34hiding him in the walls of their villa.
09:37This is also reflected in the reason
09:39why Mr. and Mrs. Hellshire committed suicide.
09:43Possibly, their guilt overshadowed their love for the child,
09:46and they decided to end their own suffering.
09:49Also, there were a few hints thrown through the length of the film,
09:52and it all led to a lot of knowledge.
09:55At the beginning of the film, when Mrs. Hellshire talked about Greta,
09:58about the rules of the house,
10:00she made it clear that Brams loves loud music.
10:03This suggests that since Brams lives in the walls,
10:05the music or something that is read had to be loud,
10:08in order to reach the walls.
10:10The Hellshires were also specific
10:12that they did not want damage to the house.
10:15They emphasized that she should clean the mice cages
10:18so that no one could enter the walls of the house.
10:21Mr. Hellshire also told her
10:23that they keep all the unused food,
10:26and it is very obvious that all the food goes to Brams.
10:29Mrs. Hellshire told Greta that Brams is shy
10:32and only moves when no one is looking at him.
10:34This shows that in fact,
10:36Lutka never even moved by herself.
10:38She was moved by the real Brams,
10:40who lives in the walls.
