00:00Previously we said hello to these guys. Maddie and Charlotte, the youngest team
00:06we've ever had on the block. Are you nervous? Yes. Yeah, we're all the feelings.
00:09Well don't be nervous. It's just the block. Yeah, just the block. And the girls first
00:14full week is a doozy. We are doing kitchen. Kitchen week is probably the
00:20most important. They say that kitchens sell houses. The heart of the home, they
00:24say. Then I dropped this on them. Behind me is the Woolamai Surf Club. A clubhouse
00:29is about 20 years old and needs a bit of TLC. An epic four-day charity reno
00:35challenge. This is a meeting room. It's a hangout room. It's a dining room. There's
00:39a bar and a kitchen. It's also a training facility. And I called in a couple of
00:44all-stars to help out. But some of the blockheads were feeling less charitable
00:50than others. We're actually the only ones here. We haven't, I don't know if the
00:54other team's thrown the towel in or? We, uh, this is, this is by red. No one at all on
01:00Tuesday? No one at all. No one at all? No. Tonight, as kitchen week
01:06continues, it's a rough trot for newbies Maddie and Charlotte. I don't want to be
01:11here. I'm like trying to backtrack from five weeks and like do a million things
01:15so I'm overwhelmed. It's just not for me. I would have wanted things to end. And at the
01:22challenge, Foreman Keith reaches his limit. We've got a day and a half before
01:27reveal. They've literally done nothing in this area. I'm going to go back to the
01:31block and be the blockinator again.
01:52Today marks 41 days on the block. 41 days of pre-start meetings. Morning. Morning.
02:00Morning. Morning.
02:09And if there's one thing that our season Christian has learned in the past 41
02:15days. Please clean up as you go. It's that you want to be first in line for
02:27coffee, post meeting. That's pretty much it.
02:37Have a good day, stay out of the rain. See you tomorrow.
02:45Cripped in. Unlike Christian, the sisters Maddie and Charlotte in house one, today
02:55marks only their seventh day on the block. The girls were subbed in for
03:01Jessie and Paige last Wednesday.
03:05My name is Maddie, hi. And I'm Charlotte. Oh my gosh, I feel sick.
03:19Hello ladies. These Sydney sisters might be the youngest team we've ever had on
03:25the block. We literally grew up watching the block, like we loved it and we got so
03:30invested. But they shouldn't be underestimated because they've already
03:34got multiple renos under their belt.
03:41Guys, we just saw Nelly. Honestly, what, six days to do a room? Easy. Easy. Walk in a park.
03:51And it hasn't exactly been a walk in the park, especially with Jessie and Paige's
03:57original builder who they inherited, Zach. I'm scared to talk to the carpenter.
04:03He's going to bite my head off. Don't f***ing count me on TV or else I'll just f***ing pull the bin and walk off, eh?
04:16Things are looking up this morning because of friendly faces arrived.
04:21Our carpenter and friend from home, Jack, arrives. Jack has been working with the
04:27girls for years on all their different reno projects.
04:33We had planned to bring him down anyway, because we work with him.
04:37From the beginning. Yeah. Before we even said yes. And we were just trying to figure out logistics
04:40and stuff and we were going to bring him down to work underneath Zach as just an extra carpenter.
04:45G'day mate, how are you? Dan. This is Jack. Nice to meet you. Okay. Partner or what's he got there?
04:52Friend? Yeah, it's our friend and carpenter. Oh, it's carpenter. We were like, we'll just get you
04:58inducted and you can just come and have a look. So that's what he did. He came and we told him
05:01some of our plans and we show him around the house. Yep. So this is the kids' room that they did.
05:07This is the other room they did. This is our master. Oh, it looks so different.
05:12The first room that we did. Oh, that's a little bit bougie. And then we introduced him to Zach.
05:17Zach, meet Jack. Charlotte, Jack.
05:22Jack. Carpenter extraordinaire. Nathan. Yo. Meet our other Jack, our second Jack.
05:28Did you talk to Zach about Jack prior to Jack's arriving on Wednesday?
05:33Yeah, I spoke to Zach a couple of times just to let him know the situation, give him a heads up,
05:40being like, hey, I know that this is unique and a bit odd. I can only imagine that as a,
05:46you know, the head of a project, you're running the show and someone that you don't know that has
05:50a relationship with, I guess, your client comes in, that's got to be intimidating. That's not
05:57always going to feel great. And there could be some insecurity, which is why I was open with
06:02Zach from the get go and just reassuring and being like, hey, this is the situation. He's
06:06going underneath you. You are the boss. You are like running this project. He's just a carpenter.
06:12Does Jack like Zach? I think so. They had a brief interaction.
06:20Hopefully there's no problems in the pecking order.
06:27It's full steam ahead on the Blox kitchens with the site chock full of the crew from Kingsman,
06:36who've got the phenomenal task of installing five kitchens in three days.
06:42That makes me laugh. Frantic paces. What makes you laugh?
06:45That we're installing kitchens in three days from Wednesday.
06:53That's pretty epic, that amount of kitchens. I can't even begin to
06:56imagine how you would coordinate and get that all done in that time.
06:59Shout out to Bryce. It just happens. It's like magic.
07:05There's more magic happening over at Carly and Brad's house four,
07:08with the High Pages crew rocking up too. Carly and Brad pull the High Pages lever on Monday.
07:19Done. Let's go. Let's go.
07:22We discussed with Scotty when we pulled the lever that we wanted to be a bit more strategic about
07:27the money that we were given by High Pages and how we're best to utilise it.
07:31Are we looking at plastering? Yeah.
07:33Yeah, look, we're definitely going to need to chop out for some plastering, I think.
07:36Okay, well, I can post for plasterers. Carly and Brad's grand plan is to get the
07:41High Pages boys to plaster the ceiling of their kitchen. But now there's a problem
07:46with having to share the space with so many trades. But luckily, Foreman Dan has a plan.
07:51All right, Brad. Dan.
07:54So it's evident we can't do the ceiling above the kitchen because we need Kingsman in there.
07:58We understand you pulled the lever this week. Yeah.
08:01So we want to help you as much as we can. We're going to allow you
08:05to fully plaster all that hallway area and let's get all that done.
08:09It hasn't been a week allocated to do hallways this season and the Blockheads have to get it
08:14done between everything else. So getting a head start in there isn't the worst idea.
08:20And High Pages are here to help. Better than nothing.
08:23Thanks, Brad. Thank you.
08:25As much as it's not really the area I wanted to be working on,
08:28at least we're working on something.
08:37A couple of weeks back after parting ways with their original builder.
08:40So, mate, look, I want to say thanks for everything.
08:42Ricky and Hayden flew in someone special.
08:46This bloke.
08:57To know that we've got an ex-contestant and an all-star, the celebrity Dunk on our side,
09:03the guy that knows the Block inside and out, we feel is going to be huge for our team.
09:08But for Dunk and the boys, it was never meant to be more than a short-term relationship.
09:13It's three to four weeks, he said. So for three to four weeks, I think I'll come down
09:18and experience being the builder for a contestant. I've never done that before.
09:22The only thing I didn't want to do is paint.
09:30Earlier in the week, Dunkin came up with a potentially game-changing idea.
09:35It's a big space and the kitchen, dining that are joined onto each other have a large section
09:39of subfloor, and Dunk's plan is to build that subfloor out of steel by TruCore,
09:44because TruCore's making steel frames on site, which is all free.
09:48So unlike the other teams who are using timber, the boys are using TruCore for their floors.
09:53We'll put joists in and you're done. It'll be super easy.
09:59This is it. This is the TruCore subfloor.
10:04And look, look how straight it's going to be.
10:08That's exactly why we love Dunkin. He knows that you've got to play the game
10:14tactically in order to win and to get any sort of advantage that you can.
10:17He's moved to build the subfloor out of steel this week,
10:21saving us 10k, has potentially got us a room win, more or less.
10:27And with Dunk having become such an asset to the team,
10:30best mates Ricky and Hayden have decided to ask him to become their permanent builder.
10:35You know, there comes times in a man's life when you're just, you're sure about something.
10:41And, you know, the first five weeks of the block, I haven't felt like this before.
10:47Um, so me and HMD, we've been working on the subfloor for the last five weeks.
10:54Um, so me and H have been having a bit of a chat.
10:57Oh, yeah.
10:58And we're wondering if you might entertain coming out for dinner with us tonight.
11:02Oh, tonight?
11:03Yeah.
11:04Lovely.
11:04I think, you know, we've got to make something official.
11:07You know, block life's just too short and you don't want to let that slip through your fingertips.
11:12So we'll take you out.
11:13All right, lovely.
11:14We just wanted to talk about a couple of things.
11:15Wonderful.
11:16Is that all right?
11:16Yeah, absolutely.
11:16It's a date?
11:17Yeah, absolutely.
11:19Ricky's asked me out for dinner. I'm thinking it's two things.
11:22I'm thinking it's either, thank you, Duncan, for your services.
11:26We no longer require you for the rest of the block, which is very possible.
11:29Or maybe it's to say, hey, will I stay on?
11:32I don't know.
11:33I don't know.
11:34But put it this way, it'll be lovely to go out to dinner with them anyway.
11:36Regardless, maybe it's just to have a dinner.
11:39Maybe.
11:40Nervous?
11:41Will there be a camera guy there?
11:43Because if there's a camera guy there, it's probably something they're going to say that's of interest.
11:48So now I'm nervous.
11:51Yeah, it's good.
11:52Bye, Duncan.
11:55Have a good one.
11:58The guys are well and truly under control on site.
12:01Duncan and the guys have got a good plan.
12:03They don't really need us too much.
12:06So from our perspective, it's just making sure they've got everything they need.
12:10And then apart from that, we're just going to send it at this challenge and give it everything.
12:21This week, along with delivering their kitchens,
12:24the teams have a four-day challenge to renovate this joint.
12:28The Wollemi Surf Club.
12:29Volunteer non-profit organisation.
12:32They are a fantastic organisation that has performed countless rescues,
12:36saved thousands of lives along the way.
12:39And helping them get the reno done are these guys.
12:44Who's that?
12:46Kyle and Cara.
12:47Stop it!
12:48Kyle and Cara.
12:50Stop it!
12:58Taking on the east side of the surf club, which is the dining area and the bar area,
13:02are Ricky and Hayden, Brad and Kylie, and Kyle and Cara, who have been dubbed the island team.
13:10The ocean team, which is Grant and Courtney, Christian and Mimi,
13:15and newbie blockheads Maddie and Charlotte,
13:17are taking on the function space and lounge area on the western side of the surf club.
13:24All hands on deck.
13:25We've got Kyle and Cara smashing out the surf club.
13:28Do you want a hand with that, bro?
13:29Do you want me to grab that one too?
13:30I know I look weak, but I've got this, bros.
13:33Oh, Ricky and I, we got on like a house on fire yesterday.
13:37We did some good work.
13:40We knocked out all these carcasses and started getting it all screwed together.
13:44And, mate, we got a fair bit done.
13:46So, yeah, he's a good little apprentice, actually.
13:50The island team are getting along like a house on fire
13:53on their side of the surf life-saving clubhouse challenge.
13:56Up with less than two days to go, the same can't be said about Team Oceanside,
14:06who have barely bothered to show up since the challenge began.
14:10I didn't spot any of the other team there, which was concerning,
14:13because it didn't look like much had gone on in their space in two days.
14:16I don't know what the other team are doing.
14:18No one's showed up again.
14:21To be honest, I think it's a bit disrespectful to the project as a whole,
14:25because it's not about winning the challenge, really.
14:27It's about the block and the block community
14:31giving back to the Wollemiah Phillip Island community.
14:34So, I don't know.
14:35They've literally done nothing in this area.
14:36We've got a day and a half before reveal.
14:39And I'm getting really annoyed,
14:40because we're going to let the Wollemiah surf life-saving club down if this isn't finished.
14:45And it's starting to look that way.
14:47I'm actually getting very, very grumpy with the ocean team.
14:50And I'm going to go back to the block and be the blockinator again.
15:10Oh, Keith, they're going to kill you.
15:20The flooring guys are going to kill you.
15:22You're walking on their sanded floor.
15:24Oh, no.
15:25Where have you guys been?
15:26Sorry?
15:27Where have you guys been?
15:28We've been here, and we're going to be at the challenge tomorrow.
15:30Today, sorry.
15:31Today.
15:31You're actually going to turn up?
15:33Yeah.
15:33That'd be great.
15:34So, I know when Kitchen Week happens, you guys don't really have a lot to do.
15:38Well, it's not that bad.
15:38The island team are powering ahead, looking magnificent.
15:43It's not about how you start, it's about how you finish, Keith.
15:46And the thing is, we have to finish this for the community.
15:48Keith, we're going to finish.
15:49Mimi and I were shopping all day yesterday for the club.
15:51So, it's not like we're not there.
15:52That'd be great.
15:53I hope you do.
15:54Yeah, we will.
15:55Hopefully, I'll see you today, hey?
15:56Yeah.
15:56See ya.
15:58If there's a problem, Keith, let's talk about it on Thursday afternoon,
16:01if we don't deliver the challenge.
16:03But until then, it's up to us to manage our time.
16:05Keith, you go back to being foreman.
16:09I don't care what Keith says.
16:12We're revealing tomorrow afternoon,
16:14and they literally haven't done a thing on their side of the room.
16:16I'll keep on them then, mate.
16:18Okay, well, Christian's up there now, pretending to look busy.
16:20Yep.
16:21Let's get him down, hey?
16:22Oh, Christian.
16:23G'day.
16:26When are you going to show up at the life-saving club?
16:28Yeah, we're going at 12 o'clock today, and we're going to smash it out.
16:31I thought you guys were going to paint last night.
16:33Yeah, we'll get it done.
16:35So far, you guys have done literally zero, nothing.
16:39So when are you planning on arriving?
16:41We've got just a bit of work here to do, and then we'll get there at 12 o'clock.
16:44Okay, mate, you better rock up.
16:45I'll be there.
16:46I'm getting worried we're not going to finish.
16:47I'll be there, TV.
16:50Yeah, I mean, Keith obviously had a point,
16:51because we literally hadn't stepped foot in there since the Monday.
16:55That's a him problem.
16:58Don't be on the side.
16:59Anyway, we'll get down there, and we'll get cracking straight away.
17:02Do you reckon we can go and get a start?
17:04Why? Are you concerned?
17:05You're worried about what Keith said, aren't you?
17:07No, no, I don't care what Keith said.
17:08I'm just...
17:09We'll get it done.
17:09We'll get it done, but I'm just saying, how under the pump are you there?
17:12There'll be another hour, and then we can go.
17:18Great.
17:19Roughly how long do you reckon?
17:21Half hour?
17:21Done.
17:22Is that all right?
17:22Yeah, and we'll go straight away?
17:24Yeah.
17:27How you going?
17:29Sorry?
17:29How you going?
17:30Good.
17:30Yeah.
17:31Almost done.
17:35Mmm.
17:37I was waiting for Grant to go to this challenge,
17:39and he's taking his sweet ass time.
17:49Oh, now he's sweeping.
17:51Come on, man.
17:52Oh, relax, Christian.
17:58Grant's getting some painting poles,
18:00because there's a really high ceilings there.
18:02Where are you going now?
18:03I'm trying to find another one, or you just want this one?
18:11Yeah!
18:13And with that, the T-Motion boys finally set out for the surf club challenge.
18:19After lunch, of course.
18:33At least the Ireland team are charging ahead.
18:36With the help of the supercars, they've been on the challenge for hours.
18:40So I am prepping this wall, giving it a good sand,
18:44giving it a clean prep coat, and then colour.
18:47There was a bit of back and forth about this wall.
18:49The other team wanted it light.
18:51I wanted it dark.
18:52Didn't see them at all yesterday.
18:54Made the decision to go dark.
18:57And apparently, Kylie has just said the other team are happy with it dark,
19:02as long as I do it.
19:03The text was, you can go with your colour as long as you guys paint the wall.
19:08So this is the line where our wall ends and the other team's wall starts.
19:12But I'm just going to take this down now.
19:14I just haven't seen them at all.
19:15It doesn't really mean anything to me.
19:17I'm just going to keep painting.
19:19I am looking at all their walls, thinking there's a bit of work in the prep here.
19:22I'm getting a bit worried.
19:23But yeah, we'll just see how we go.
19:26I might end up painting their walls too, we'll see.
19:29Um, should we get painting?
19:32I think we've got a bit to do.
19:33From our friend.
19:33Out of control, we're back.
19:35Oh, they're here.
19:36Oh, they didn't notice.
19:39Was that them?
19:40Was that the other team that just walked past?
19:42I'll introduce you when you get back.
19:42I forgot what they look like.
19:51Grant and Christian might just be getting started on the challenge.
19:54Out across town, block newbie Maddie has been at it for hours.
20:01Hello.
20:02Hi, how are you?
20:03I'm Maddie.
20:04Hi Maddie, I'm Jackie.
20:05Nice to meet you.
20:05You too.
20:06I'm JB.
20:06High five if I had to pick up a TV, a speaker, Nintendo Switch, some games.
20:12Hey, perfect.
20:13I think we have everything.
20:14Amazing.
20:14Time to go.
20:15You haven't overspent today because we gave you such a good deal.
20:18You did give us such a good deal.
20:20We're very blessed.
20:20Thank you so much.
20:21You are welcome.
20:22That was fun.
20:23It was fun.
20:24I'll be back for all this stuff at my house.
20:27Yeah.
20:27Awesome.
20:28We can't wait to see you again.
20:30It's a charity.
20:32Nothing like spending other people's money.
20:34I know, honestly.
20:35It's quite a wild experience spending other people's money.
20:38I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself when I get home.
20:41Maddie might be having a ball with the block credit card.
20:45Tensions are running a little hot with the girls' builder, Zach,
20:49and his chippy, Nathan, who they inherited from Jessie and Paige.
20:53After the girls introduced their carpenter mate, Jack, into the team this morning.
21:00Yeah, supposed to be working with us.
21:03We'll just see how that dynamic goes.
21:05See if that's what happens or not.
21:06He seems to be designing it all and everything with them taking that.
21:11So I'm like, huh, right.
21:14Yeah, I'm supposed to be the one that is running it for them.
21:19That's why I got picked by Jessie and Paige.
21:22To help them run the show.
21:25And it's a completely different dynamic.
21:29You can't ever expect it to be the same with the same people.
21:33But yeah, I'm very much on the outside of things.
21:40How are things going with Zach?
21:43Zach had finished the sub floor and was going out to do stock take
21:47and kind of telling me that we need to clean up the house because it looks like a brothel.
21:52Like, I don't actually reckon it's too bad.
21:54Like I said, once half of it's cleared.
21:56Too bad?
21:57It's not, Zach.
21:58It's a brothel.
21:59That's what it is.
22:00What I'm saying, once the cabinetry is cleared, it won't be so daunting.
22:03Everywhere.
22:04Like, I'm just being realistic.
22:05There is everywhere.
22:07And I was like, OK, I'll clean it.
22:10I will do that tonight.
22:11I guarantee it.
22:12And then Zach walks off in a half.
22:20Are you all right?
22:22Nah, not really.
22:23Why, what's wrong?
22:23Because I try to have direct conversations with you and you just turn and just speak to Nathan.
22:27And it's quite rude.
22:29Was I?
22:30Yeah, it's been happening since Monday.
22:34OK, I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that.
22:35Yeah, like even just before, just there.
22:38Like I directly asked you and you turned your whole body and spoke to Nathan.
22:42So here is the exact moment Zach is talking about.
22:46And if you can do a bit of a stock take too, so we know what we do have, what we don't have.
22:49Yeah.
22:50Write a list.
22:51I've made a start.
22:52A, B, C, X, Y, Z of all this.
22:54That's only got halfway through that.
22:56Nah, good chat.
23:00Apparently, I turned my body towards Nathan and not Zach.
23:09And I was like, OK, well, I don't know why.
23:11I didn't even really think too much of it.
23:13Like I was completely went over my head.
23:15Me going to Nathan more over Zach is probably true in the sense
23:20because I find Nathan a bit more approachable.
23:23And he will also give me an answer where sometimes Zach doesn't give me an answer.
23:28So I probably do go to Nathan more.
23:31It's quite rude and I really don't appreciate it.
23:33OK, well I had no idea I was doing that.
23:34If I'm just going to be a glorified labourer, like I don't want to be here.
23:38Well, you're not a glorified labourer.
23:40You're a carpenter.
23:40That's what it feels like at the moment.
23:42Why does it feel like that?
23:43There's just nothing's getting run.
23:45I'm just, I'm out of the loop with everything.
23:47So am I.
23:48Like absolutely everything.
23:48I'm out of the loop of everything too.
23:50Like you're doing all this stuff and I'm just like out of it.
23:54Unless you guys are all over it.
23:55I'm still learning what has the process on what things have to be done.
23:59OK, so it's just like a normal house build.
24:03But I haven't done a house like this before.
24:05That's unfair to put that on me.
24:06Yeah, but don't you flip houses?
24:08Yeah, but I have somebody who helps me with this and we're doing it on a long period.
24:12And then I'm coming in like late.
24:14Yeah, and we're here to help you with this as well.
24:17You're telling me like if you need something,
24:20then you need to come to me and be like,
24:21Charlotte, I don't know where the pens are.
24:22Speaking to you, I'd like to be spoken to and not turn and spoke to Nathan.
24:26It's been happening for the last few days.
24:27OK, well, I wasn't aware of that.
24:28I apologize.
24:30It's OK.
24:31And like we're trying to help.
24:32Like we're trying to clean up everything because we're way behind.
24:35But you're just going around saying it's a brothel.
24:37And we can jump in.
24:37That's not helpful.
24:38Like you can't do anything.
24:40Like you can't clean up now because there's 10,000 people doing kitchen.
24:43But you're going around being negative and saying it's a brothel.
24:45It is a brothel.
24:46It is.
24:47It is **** from arsehole to breakfast.
24:48Yeah, but guess what?
24:49I didn't order any of this stuff.
24:51Yeah, and so we're trying to clean it all up.
24:53Let us go and organize all this.
24:55You don't have to do everything.
24:56Yeah, but we can't afford because we're already in the red.
24:59Yeah, something's got to be done.
25:01It's not your problem.
25:03Yeah, it's not.
25:04But when I've got to work in it, it does become my problem.
25:07Well, it doesn't really seem very helpful because it's like,
25:09it seems like you're just getting angry at me
25:11and not even coming and addressing it to me.
25:13I try to address stuff to you and you speak to Nathan.
25:16I didn't even know that because if you're all there,
25:19I'm not, I'm addressing all of you.
25:20Am I not?
25:21No, you're not because you're physically turning and addressing Nathan.
25:24But Zach, you have to understand.
25:25Nathan's saying the same thing.
25:27When I'm speaking to you, you turn to him.
25:30Because Zach, you are more, but Nathan is like a,
25:34I find you a bit more intimidating than I do Nathan.
25:38I don't know why.
25:39But if I come to you with a thing
25:41and you're getting angry at me for coming to you.
25:43I'm not getting angry.
25:44Then I'm like, well, I'm not going to come
25:45and ask you a question, I'm going to go and ask Nathan.
25:48I'm going to go home.
25:49We're going to come back in the morning with a better attitude
25:52and move on and see if we can work together and get this done.
25:58Okay.
25:58Because this is just going around in circles at the moment.
26:00Okay.
26:00It's not productive.
26:01Okay.
26:02Thanks for your work today.
26:02Appreciate it.
26:03We'll see you in the morning.
26:04Hopefully it's a clean slate.
26:05Bye.
26:07Pretty over it at the moment.
26:09Yeah.
26:10Yeah.
26:11Yeah.
26:12What are you going to do now?
26:14Go home and try to relax and yeah,
26:16come back tomorrow and hit it again and see how we go.
26:20I guess we'll just go from here and hope we have a better day tomorrow.
26:27I mean, that's all you can do, right?
26:29Yeah, because I'm like trying to backtrack from five weeks
26:32and like do a million things.
26:33So I'm overwhelmed.
26:36But...
26:38Getting out of here might be exactly what you need.
26:41Yep.
26:41Thanks.
27:41Yeah.
27:43Taking on the block is one of the hardest things you can do.
27:51Being thrust into it five weeks into the process would be even harder.
27:59And for our youngest team ever, it's been a pretty rough start.
28:03I went to the Surf Lifesaving Club for the challenge after my conversation with Zach
28:09and Scotty was there waiting for me.
28:11Do you need a hug?
28:13Come here, come here.
28:17I'll be fine.
28:18Yeah, I know you will be, you're tough.
28:20Is it between you're like Jack and Zach and the girl, you two?
28:25No, I think it's, I mean, it probably didn't help Jack came today,
28:28but I think Zach's just, I mean, he said it was all week.
28:31So it was before Jack even came.
28:33I think he was just a bit frustrated with,
28:36apparently I go more to Nathan than Zach.
28:40With questions and stuff, but yes.
28:45Well, remember I said I'm going to be your temporary dad for eight weeks?
28:47Yeah.
28:47I don't like to see you crying.
28:50Okay, because I have a daughter the same age.
28:52If you need any advice about Zach or you want me to talk to Zach, I can do that.
28:57No, don't, don't.
28:58Okay, all right, I won't, I won't, I won't.
29:00Scotty told me that he was going to put his father boots on and go and talk to Zach.
29:05And I was like, no, don't do that.
29:07Don't talk to him.
29:08Because last time I talked to him, I got in trouble for it.
29:11Well, see, he shouldn't have done that.
29:14It's fine.
29:14We'll work it out.
29:15Rightio.
29:16We'll work it out.
29:16Well done.
29:21He was really lovely and good to have his support as well.
29:33Renovating this surf lifesaving club is more than just a lick of paint on the walls.
29:38It's also about the heart and soul that hangs on those same walls.
29:44Luckily, Graeme has gotten in contact with one of the surf club's oldest members.
29:48Hello.
29:49Hey, Graeme.
29:50How are you?
29:50Good mate, how are you?
29:51Good to see you.
29:52Graeme, nice to meet you.
29:53Courtney.
29:54How are you?
29:54We met with Graeme.
29:55Yeah, and he takes care of all the memorabilia that's stacked in an old storage shed in New Haven.
30:01This is it.
30:02Oh, wow, there's a lot of stuff.
30:04It's been 60 years of stuff.
30:05I love it.
30:06Oh my God, okay.
30:07I love it.
30:08And he said to us, he's like, we've been trying to, there was this one surfboard,
30:11he's like, we've been trying to find a home for this for a very long time.
30:15He had some really amazing stories too behind each of the pieces.
30:18See the one on the top there?
30:20Oh, yeah.
30:21That's ideal.
30:22It's an old rescue board from the 50s and we restored it and had it painted by a kitchen man.
30:28Oh, mate.
30:29And it's in the club colours.
30:30Oh, yes, this is perfect.
30:32Yes, that's perfect.
30:33So we've got some of those really important pieces out
30:36and we're going to display them in the surf club.
30:42Oh, wow.
30:43That's pretty cool.
30:44Yeah.
30:44Yeah, wow.
30:45Definitely.
30:46He mentioned twice that he'd kill me if I damaged anything.
30:48So that made me a bit nervous.
30:50He was so cute.
30:51It was funny the first time.
30:52The second time I was a bit nervous.
30:54What is it?
30:54A little red one.
30:551975.
30:57Yeah, 75.
30:59Well and truly off by now.
31:01There's a little bit left.
31:02Who wants to have a try?
31:08Grant might have his contacts, but I have mine.
31:11And I've called in my mate Christian Cole to sort out a bar top for the island team.
31:20Special delivery, Scotty.
31:22Oh, wow.
31:24Nice work, mate.
31:29No, actually, we don't like it, mate.
31:30Take it back.
31:30Take it back.
31:32It's out of an old chook pen.
31:35Got all feathers all over it.
31:36Got some nice tractor stools here for you, too.
31:38Oh, the ones you make?
31:40Yeah.
31:41So you can sit along there.
31:47It's got even lots of bum safe in it.
31:51One Carlton, one Northern, thanks, Cobb.
31:53Go, the sand crabs.
32:20After another massive challenge day,
32:22a moment of truth is approaching for Ricky and Hayden on their date with Duncan.
32:27Were you guys nervous?
32:29Definitely a lot of nerves leading up to the chat with Dunk.
32:32I knew I was going to have to make some sort of speech,
32:34so I was drawing back from the challenge, like rehearsing what I was going to say to him.
32:39Dear Dunk, roses are red, violets are blue.
32:46We need a builder.
32:48Will it be you?
32:49Come on.
32:51Stupid.
32:52What happens if he says no?
32:53What happens if he's busy?
32:54Or we don't mean the same to what he means to us?
33:03We invested a lot of time in making sure we had the right outfits.
33:21Hey, mate.
33:25Wow.
33:26You're very formal.
33:27Good to see you, mate.
33:27Yeah, me too.
33:29It's all about time, location, you know, and he's the right, he's the builder for us.
33:34There's no questions about that.
33:36You spend your whole life searching for the right person.
33:39You know, it's one of those things like you don't really,
33:41you don't really know until you know.
33:44Like, you know, I think from the moment you landed from that helicopter, mate,
33:49it was sort of like our lives sort of slowed down for a minute.
34:02I think from that moment on,
34:05me and Hayden knew that our lives had changed forever.
34:13We've got to ask you one important question, mate.
34:19Dunk.
34:26Sir Duncan, will you be our builder?
34:29Will you be our builder and join team Ricky and H?
34:33Guys, don't say no.
34:37I have to say yes.
34:39I have to say yes.
34:40Put the glasses on, Dunk.
34:42Please put the glasses on.
34:45The hat, wow.
34:47Please, if you would.
34:49Wow.
34:52When he put that hat on and the brim was down and it came up and it went
34:57and you saw the sunnies, man, that suits him.
35:05Man, does he look good with pit wipers and a Balzac hat on.
35:11It's the happiest moment of my life.
35:13We're on now.
35:14We are on.
35:15Cheers.
35:16Here's to winning this week.
35:17Absolutely.
35:19Yeah, we've got to be the super team, haven't we?
35:21Let's get pole waxed.
35:28Once we returned from the challenge on Wednesday,
35:31I noticed a lot of progress in our kitchen had been completed, thanks to Kinsman.
35:35Check this out.
35:40Secret goodies.
35:43Stash it.
35:43That is the golden pocket.
35:45That is the gold.
35:49The girl's kitchen is coming together, but after the run-in between Charlotte
35:56and their inherited builder, Zach, earlier this morning,
35:59their building team may be falling apart.
36:03He's like, don't worry.
36:04I think he's feeling just insecure today.
36:07And like, he's obviously stressed.
36:10Stressed, they're doing nothing.
36:12Jack.
36:15It's okay.
36:16Let's hope that he's woken up on the right side of the bed tomorrow.
36:19I think we're going to give him the benefit of the doubt and just like,
36:23maybe he was just having an off day.
36:25So you want to keep working with Zach at the moment?
36:27Yes, we want to keep working with Zach at the moment.
36:30That's the plan.
36:31Stan?
36:45Morning.
36:59There's still a lot of crap in the houses.
37:02A lot of rubbish and a lot of just tidying up could be done.
37:08After a turbulent day yesterday with their builder, Zach,
37:11block newbies Maddie and Charlotte in house one
37:13are still wondering if he's going to show up today.
37:17On Thursday morning, I was at pre-start and he wasn't there.
37:22I was like, oh, maybe there's a no-show.
37:23Uh, it's PPE as per usual.
37:26And then he did show up like during pre-start.
37:33And I was like, okay.
37:35And then he said, hey, can you go and get Madeline?
37:38We need to talk.
37:39And I was like, oh, okay.
37:43So I've had a bit of a think about it all yesterday after all that.
37:48What's all that?
37:49After all of what happened yesterday in regards to Charlotte.
37:54Okay.
37:56Now, I get you might feel intimidated.
37:59I can be blunt and very straight to the point about things.
38:03That's the way I work.
38:04And that's the way we get stuff done.
38:06Um, I feel like I can't come to you guys
38:08without you turning around saying that I'm being intimidating.
38:12Um, I don't appreciate being called intimidating.
38:15I'm not, I'm quite an approachable bloke.
38:17I'm just straight to the point with the way I speak about things.
38:21I don't, I'm not going to beat around the bush.
38:23He was stuck on the point of like,
38:26he did not like the fact that we had,
38:28when asked how we felt about him, we'd called him intimidating
38:32or said that we felt intimidated.
38:34He was quite stuck on that point.
38:37He didn't like that because I don't think he believes that he's intimidating
38:41or that his communication style is intimidating.
38:45And I think I said, it's just my personal opinion.
38:47I can understand like the environment and like,
38:49you've got to be straight to the point and all that kind of stuff.
38:51And like, I appreciate that you are so good at what you do.
38:55Like, and that part of that looks like running like a tight ship and stuff.
38:59But like, there is an element of like,
39:02when you speak to someone, telling them how it is,
39:05like I get it, but that is intimidating.
39:08And it doesn't necessarily mean that you're not intimidating.
39:11I can understand how you feel it might be intimidating for you guys
39:13because you're like, oh, wow.
39:14Yeah.
39:15But that's how it's got to be.
39:16It's not going to, I'm not.
39:17Can you understand that there's sometimes the way that you come across
39:21is a little bit aggressive and a little bit intimidating.
39:24And maybe we're like weak and maybe we're sensitive to that.
39:29But like for us to work as a team, we need to meet halfway.
39:32And yes, there's some things we're just going to have to go with the fly and go,
39:35you know what?
39:35It's stressful.
39:36We understand that.
39:37But what do you need from us to communicate better or to work as a team?
39:41We need to work as a team.
39:42But what does that look like?
39:43You need to run stuff with me, be there.
39:45But aren't we not doing that?
39:47What did you do with Jack yesterday when he first rocked up?
39:49Showed him around the house.
39:50Showed him around the house and then ran through the design of all of this,
39:53of all of that, of everything like that.
39:55We don't have a design.
39:56We were going, this is maybe what we think.
39:58We got to check with Zach if we can actually do this kind of stuff.
40:00Yeah, so this is the stuff that you've run through.
40:02We literally have been here all of seven days.
40:05And I have nearly next to no designs.
40:07I'm not trying to do things behind your back or anything like that at all.
40:12Like, I want to work with you.
40:13I want to talk through things.
40:15I want to like, you know, slow it down at times.
40:18And I know we have to move past this fast.
40:19But like, I want to have these discussions.
40:22But I need to know.
40:22I'd like to as well.
40:23Because I don't feel like I can come to you guys with anything at the moment.
40:25How come?
40:26Are we intimidating?
40:27No, you're not intimidating at all.
40:28Then how come you can't come to us?
40:29Because you just turn around and say, you're intimidating.
40:32I said that.
40:33It's been said quite a few times now.
40:34Charlotte said it directly to my face in front of the camera yesterday.
40:36Well, yesterday, do you think that you were being kind to her?
40:39Kind.
40:40My behavior has not been off at all.
40:44Okay, so you think your tone to her yesterday was kind or nice?
40:47I'm sorry that you can't handle the way that I talk.
40:50And that I've got a bit of a tone.
40:52That's not an apology.
40:54But I'm not changing the way we were.
40:57No, I'm not asking you to change the way you were.
40:59I think your work is great.
41:00I'm not asking you to change that.
41:01I'm asking you to see that maybe the way that you were speaking to her yesterday was not...
41:06That's not a friendly way to talk to somebody.
41:09And that's why I go to Nathan.
41:10Because you tell me you want me to ask questions.
41:12But then every time I ask you questions, I feel like you're talking down on me.
41:15Yeah, you can ask questions.
41:16Well, we can't ask questions, that's the point.
41:18I can ask questions, but I can't get an answer.
41:20So then what's the point of asking questions?
41:22All right, I think this is a mad decision.
41:24I think we're going to be out.
41:26We're not going to no longer work here with you guys.
41:29This team dynamic isn't going to work.
41:32I'm sorry, guys.
41:33Okay.
41:34Well, yeah, we're sad that that's how this is resolved, but...
41:38Back it up, man.
41:40Yep.
41:41We need the keys for the boxes, please.
41:45I'm sorry, I didn't want it to end like this.
41:48That's all right.
41:48No, all the best moving forward.
41:50And you're actually really brave.
41:51Should be all right.
41:52No, you guys are going to be all right.
41:54Smash through it.
41:55Get done and shouldn't have any dramas.
42:07It's just not okay.
42:09I wouldn't want things to end.
42:12I don't understand why people can't have reasonable conversations.
42:16Like...
42:17I think being kind goes a long way.
42:21I'm not asking for the world.
42:23I'm just asking just to be, you know, respected.
42:29And...
42:31Yeah, it's not a lot.
42:33Like, it's not hard.
42:34Yeah, well, I better go find a new builder.
42:38Look, I kind of knew from the beginning that it probably wasn't the greatest fit.
42:42And I was trying to hold on because I wanted to give them a chance to,
42:46you know, for us to all get to know each other.
42:48And I wanted to have grace for the fact that it was a big change for them too.
42:52And you cannot get work done with someone that you don't feel comfortable talking to.
43:13All over the country, our brave surf lifesavers
43:17do the remarkable job of keeping us all safe on Aussie beaches.
43:22It's mostly volunteers on the beat every single day.
43:36Which is why it's so important to give back when we can.
43:43Good kitchen.
43:44Apparently needs a new dishwasher.
43:47Probably a Barbie as well.
43:48I'm going to ring me mate, Rob Sinclair.
43:51From E&S Trading.
43:55Rob Sinclair.
43:56Hey, Rob. Scotty Cam here, mate.
43:58Hello, Scotty. How are you, mate?
44:00I'm terrific, pal.
44:01I'm at the Warm Eyes Surf Club and we're doing a little bit of a makeover here.
44:06Mate, I was hoping you could give us a hand.
44:09We need a new dishwasher in the commercial kitchen here.
44:14Yeah, beautiful. No, there'll be no problems at all with that.
44:16So let's just consider it done, Scotty.
44:18We'd love to be able to help out.
44:19Thank you, mate. Good on you, Rob.
44:21Rob from E&S Trading. He's a champion.
44:24See you, pal. Bye.
44:29G'day, buddy.
44:35So I've sorted out the kitchen.
44:38The nine and six crew are busy taking care of the outdoor barbecue area.
44:45Uh, how are you going? The barbecue going well?
44:47Not too bad. We're going all right at the moment.
44:49So, yeah, we should have it done by the end of the day. We'll be close.
44:52You're a champion. And you haven't got much on.
44:54Oh, not at all. Odo's just had to run back quickly.
44:57Has he?
44:57Yeah, and then he's coming back. He needs to chop out, so.
44:59Yeah, right. Good on you. Thanks, mate.
45:01Thanks for helping. He's got heaps on, but he's helping us out.
45:06Combank are not only sponsoring this challenge,
45:09but they are literally rolling up their sleeves and helping out.
45:13The team from the local branch are in charge of the bunk room makeover.
45:19How are you all going?
45:20Hi, how are you?
45:21Good. Doing a good job here.
45:23Thank you. They're pretty tough bunks to get apart after all those years.
45:26Yeah, they have to help a lot of people over a lot of years.
45:28I'm from Flooring Extra. I've come to get you to pick the flooring.
45:31Oh, perfect. Fantastic.
45:33Thank you. What have we got?
45:35So these are all laminates. They're all waterproof.
45:37Just got to work out which one you think will be the most practical in this room.
45:41Yeah, I quite like this one for beach. It's got that beachy feel to it.
45:46Yeah, and it's not too dark, but practical.
45:51The timber look floors that the Combank team have chosen
45:54fit in with the new bunk beds from B2C Furniture,
45:58creating a beachy and laid back retreat for the life saving crew.
46:03Yeah, perfect.
46:16Oh, it's the Combank crew.
46:27Hello, ladies.
46:29Lisa, is that right?
46:30Lisa.
46:31Yes, and you're the local branch here on Phillip Island, Combank.
46:35How fantastic. So this means a lot to you, this club?
46:38Oh, significantly. We're just so happy to be part of the community and be able to assist
46:44the block to help, and it's just such a major part to our community, the Surf Life Saving Club.
46:51Well, thank you, girls. That's unreal.
46:53You're putting a few more to put together.
46:56And you're here for the day to help us.
46:57Yes, we are.
46:58High five from the Combank. Bang, bang, bang, bang.
47:02Sponsoring this challenge for us and sponsoring the block as well.
47:09Meanwhile, my mate Shelley Craft is across town on her own mission for the clubhouse.
47:14With help from local artist, Christy Cargill.
47:17Well, hello.
47:18Hey.
47:20Having to burst into your workspace. Oh, my goodness. Check this out.
47:24OK, so this week's challenge, the contestants are revamping the Kate Wollemi Surf Club for the clubbies.
47:32It needed a little bit of love, needed some attention.
47:35And then word got to us that you were doing an artwork of the exact same building.
47:40Kirsty, I don't want to put any pressure on you,
47:42but we all love supporting Surf Life Saving around the country.
47:45I don't suppose you would be thrilled to have this hanging in the new revamped clubhouse.
47:51Oh, I would love nothing more, Shel.
47:54OK, so here comes the tricky part.
47:55We're actually doing the judging and the reveal tonight.
47:58And a lot of the clubbies and the locals are going to come down, putting on a barbie.
48:01OK, any chance it will be ready?
48:05Bit of a deadline, but I can make it happen. Definitely.
48:07Really?
48:08Yeah, for sure.
48:09Thank you so much. This is going to be so special.
48:11Thank you, Kirsty. Back to work.
48:29They packed up their tools, they left.
48:35And we were like, OK, because the last few days have been chaotic with the challenge,
48:39we have to give this day to the challenge.
48:40That's our priority. It ends today.
48:42Off we go.
48:45We go to the challenge.
48:46It's all hands on deck, really.
48:49Like, stuff just has to get done.
48:51We are cleaning, we are like unboxing things.
48:54Yeah, don't pull.
48:56Paintings on the wall, finishing off painting, setting up TVs and furniture.
49:01And then we look over and we're like, oh, that could make cars over here.
49:09Oh, maybe we could ask Kyle to be our builder.
49:15It's a very, very, very long shot,
49:17but we might as well throw out the line and see if anything bites.
49:22No harm.
49:23After their builder, Zach, and his crew called it quits this morning,
49:40Maddie and Charlotte have decided to ask Block All-Star Kyle
49:44to consider becoming their new builder.
49:47Hello.
49:47Hello.
49:48I feel like this is a very official meeting.
49:50This is a very official meeting.
49:53Thanks for the coffee.
49:54Oh, you're so welcome.
49:55So tell me, what happened this morning?
49:56I heard your builder bailed on you guys.
49:59I don't think he meant to be mean.
50:00No.
50:00Or anything like that.
50:01I think...
50:02Just maybe we're just...
50:03Maybe just the...
50:04Maybe we just weren't the best fit.
50:06I don't think he wanted to hear what we had to say.
50:09Yeah.
50:09Like...
50:09So he just up and left?
50:11He was like, yeah.
50:12Did he take... and he took his crew with him?
50:14Yeah.
50:14I feel for the girls because they've had, like, a builder walk out on them.
50:18So, you know, you want them to be successful in their relationship with their builder.
50:23And you want it to go somewhat, like, smoothly for them to work together as a team.
50:29So I feel sad from that, you know, that hasn't worked out.
50:31But...
50:31So, yeah, basically, we're in a position where we need, like, a new team.
50:36And maybe...
50:37Maybe for a week or two, you can help us.
50:40But we also understand you have two little kids and a wife at home.
50:43So it's not something that...
50:44Well, my wife's here.
50:45She's...
50:45I mean, well, yeah.
50:47What we were thinking is that it's really good surf in Phillip Island.
50:50And you wanted a holiday.
50:52And your kids needed a holiday.
50:53Yeah.
50:54I'll talk to the big boss.
50:55We all know she calls the shots.
50:57That's so fair.
50:59We don't want to get on the wrong side.
51:00I'll come back to you guys.
51:02Hopefully, I can be part of the team.
51:04We hope so.
51:04But if I can't...
51:06That would be, like, a dream come true.
51:08It's like you're, like, this, like, famous little person that we, like, saw on...
51:13Wait, how long ago were you on the show?
51:14Like, 10 years ago?
51:1510 years.
51:15We were little kids watching.
51:17Like, isn't that crazy?
51:18Our Pinterest board is literally...
51:1922, and I just turned 25 yesterday.
51:25The thought of coming back as a builder for another set of contestants is, like,
51:29you know, it's exciting.
51:30And I'm very, like, you know, flattered by the offer.
51:34But, you know, being the block and, you know, I know how much it takes.
51:38I know how much you've got to sacrifice.
51:41I just need to work out whether I can literally reshuffle some things at home
51:46to help the girls out.
51:55Kitchen Week on the Block, proof that a lot can happen in just two short days.
52:10And just like that, it's delivery time.
52:41And the deliveries just keep on coming.
52:57The Cosettino stone, how good's that, hey?
52:59It just, it's just finishing it off.
53:09And the boys have picked an unbelievable island bench,
53:12and it just really hits you when you go in.
53:16The judges have to like it.
53:17This has to be the boys' week.
53:21It has to be the boys' week.
53:31Back at the Wollemi Surf Club,
53:34Annie and Charlotte have just asked Kyle to consider becoming their new builder.
53:38What we were thinking is that it's really good surf in Phillip Island,
53:41and you wanted a holiday, and your kids needed a holiday.
53:44You know, it's exciting, and I'm very like, you know, flattered by the offer.
53:50You want to do it, don't you?
53:51Of course I want to do it.
53:52I want to help them out.
53:55Where's all the tables?
53:58Hey, you know the girls have asked Kyle to be their chippy?
54:04Like, actually?
54:05Just then.
54:06Wow, I mean, he's good.
54:08Oh, yeah.
54:09But do you reckon he will?
54:10Yeah, yeah.
54:12You reckon Duncan was good at playing the game?
54:15Kyle never lost anything.
54:20He might not even say yes, but f*** off.
54:23He's here for a reason.
54:25We're in the block bubble at the moment.
54:27Yeah, go.
54:27We are in block bubble.
54:29I want to stay in the bubble.
54:33Zach should have stayed on longer.
54:35Yeah.
54:37Kyle's the new girl's new builder.
54:39Who?
54:39Kyle.
54:40He is?
54:41I think so.
54:42Really?
54:42Yeah.
54:43Let us ask him.
54:44It's done.
54:45It's done.
54:46It's done.
54:47Let us ask him.
54:50Really?
54:51So, Duncan's steroids.
54:53Oh, f***.
55:06Kyle is fast.
55:08He's an animal.
55:09And never loses.
55:10No.
55:11Not to mention Kyle.
55:14He's a beast.
55:14On tap.
55:16Just on.
55:19Kyle, a recommendation.
55:20Yeah.
55:21Yeah.
55:23If that's true, that'll be hard to beat.
55:33Tomorrow night.
55:34Block's a tough game, isn't it?
55:35Oh, it's tough.
55:36Bit knackered?
55:37Yeah, a bit knackered.
55:38Tough enough.
55:39You've got one hour to go, boys.
55:40Race is on to end the surf club challenge.
55:43One hour.
55:45Tools down.
55:47And a special guest judge drops by.
55:49Mr Neil Whittaker.
55:58The team that I think has really made the biggest impact on this build
56:03would have to be...
56:07And then the big question is finally answered.
56:10Will House One recruit a super K as their new builder?
56:14Look, me and Kara have had a chat.
56:17If I can re-juggle a few things and make it work, I would love to stay.
