00:15Right at about 155, we got notification from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office that
00:21a suspect was heading our way.
00:23They gave us a vehicle description, the tag description, operating under the assumption
00:28that he had fired at the president.
00:29We picked that car up, right at about the mile marker 92 and 995, and then followed
00:36it.
00:37It came into our county, I'm sorry, and then we followed it for about two miles, and then
00:42using what we call a pit maneuver or a pinch, we forced the vehicle to a stop on 995 and
00:50made the arrest.
00:52You would expect this person maybe to put up some order of a fight, and it seems like
00:56he just went very easily with you guys.
00:58We were somewhat taken aback.

01:01I got there just right after the stop.
01:03He was as casual as if he was going to a late night or an early Sunday night church service.
01:08He never asked why he was being stopped.
01:10He offered no explanation, didn't ask what were all the police doing out there.
01:15I mean, we had 30 deputies, lots of long rifles, 995 closed in both direction, helicopter overhead.

01:25That's what made me think when I saw that, I said, he knows what time it is, and he knows
01:28exactly why he's being stopped.
01:31There must have been a lot of pressure on you guys to make sure it got done correctly,
01:37given what had happened two months earlier.
01:39Well, we had a lot of pressure.
01:41Certainly, he wasn't getting out of this county, that's for sure.

01:44We would have done anything we had to to stop him, and then, of course, the pressure on
01:49releasing information.
01:50I knew that the public was hungry for information, and so I have not tampered it down.
01:58I released it the same.
01:59We had the suspect, the person of interest, and that he was in custody.
