00:00The culture of having a hobby in the country is alive and well.
00:04This is proven by various brands and products that are proudly Pinoy-made, but world-class.
00:10Niko Wahe has a report.
00:15Kaikat, luka, or slip-on.
00:23Color? There are many choices.
00:26This is Lakat Sustainables.
00:28Lakat is an Ilonggo word that means walk.
00:34Did you know that pineapples on the feet are colorful?
00:37From Pina and made by Pinoy.
00:39This is made out of pineapple blend, which we processed the thread itself.
00:45We got our pineapple from Negros, also our cotton is from Negros.
00:51Then we process it into a yarn.
00:54Once it is made into a yarn, we send it back to our partner weavers in Negros.
01:01And then they weave it, and then after that we assemble it here in Manila.
01:06The locally made shoes are around Php4,000, depending on the class.
01:10This is included in the exhibit at the 14th Lekhang Hobby Market Fair in Makati City.
01:15There are also clothes, shoes, bags, and more.
01:19Monica was given a dress and top that was also made by Negros.
01:24This is from Oringao, and then this is from Caban, Calan.
01:27And then the hand-woven trim is hand-woven by the Marana weavers of Lanao del Sur.
01:34When we started the fair, it's really to have an opportunity for the weaver to get to market.
01:41And we want to help the small grassroots weavers.
01:45The culture of weaving is no longer considered as dyeing.
01:59One of the things they are promoting is the use of natural dyes in textile fabrics.
02:14To achuete, to achuete like turmeric also.
