00:00This exhibition is about the greatest painter of the 20th century and perhaps of all the history of art.
00:11A painter that everyone wanted to destroy last year because he was too mythological, too strong, too great.
00:19And then, in the meantime, I discovered that this very powerful painter started his life during 40 years as very vulnerable.
00:35His life was exactly the opposite of what people thought because he started as a foreigner in France,
00:42at a time when France was a wounded country, and Picasso, as a foreigner, as an anarchist, and also as an avant-garde artist,
00:52was thrown out of the French museums by the Academy of Fine Arts.
00:57This means that his life in France was not easy.
01:00Behind Picasso's monumental history, there is a beautiful, moving story of a fragile character
01:09and an exhibition that starts as a very hard thing and ends with a victory.
01:16It is an exhibition of joy, an exhibition that teaches everyone that the city must be open,
01:23open to diversity, open to the other, open to the foreigner, instead of closing it.
01:30It is an exhibition that changes you.
01:33You go through moments of anger, of surprise, of joy, and you walk with Picasso, and two hours with Picasso.
01:46It is rare.
01:47There is the voice of his mother, there is the voice of his Catalan companions, there are voices in different languages,
01:53there is the voice of the police.
01:55So it is a competition that gives you the experience of being a foreigner in Paris.
02:00Behind every artist there is a social condition that determines, which is very important in works.
02:09You see in the exhibition the identity card of Picasso as a foreigner in 1931, where he is a face of a criminal.
02:20And on the other side, you see a work of art that does, the same year,
02:25Minotaur blind, guided by a child in the dark.
02:29And exactly what he felt.
02:32He felt powerful, strong, rich, but vulnerable.
02:37And he said it with this image that is to die for beauty.
02:44Because he could not express himself in France.
02:49If he said what he thought, he was expelled.
02:52So he said it, between art, between Minotaur, the mythological figure is beautiful.
