00:00I haven't even been with three basketball players in the same month,
00:02like let alone day. I like to, you know, I space them out.
00:09Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most unforgettable
00:14instances when celebrities were caught completely off guard or made uncomfortable
00:19during talk show appearances.
00:20I've gone through a lot in life and I'm looking forward to actually just taking time from me.
00:24Mm-hmm.
00:29You can't make a joke of it.
00:30I just want to, I just, I don't, I'm not joking.
00:33You're not doing that. We're not doing that.
00:34Number 10. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Oprah Winfrey Show.
00:39You know there's a new rumor that's recently surfaced that has really upset you, right?
00:43You know the one about eating.
00:45In 2004, teenage twin stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen appeared on the Oprah Winfrey
00:51Show to discuss their booming careers. At the time, there were rumors that Mary-Kate had an
00:56eating disorder, but Oprah Winfrey's couch was probably the last place both sisters expected
01:01to be grilled about them.
01:03Yeah, you know, people are gonna write what they want to write. We try not to read the
01:07good or the bad because it just kind of comes with the territory.
01:11Yet Winfrey dives right in, urging them to comment on the gossip. Ashley tries to brush it off,
01:17but Winfrey prods further, asking the siblings point-blank about their size.
01:22What size are you, by the way?
01:24Size?
01:24It's an oddly inappropriate line of questioning, especially coming from Winfrey,
01:29who has openly discussed her own weight issues. And it's even more uncomfortable considering
01:34Mary-Kate entered rehab later that year for an eating disorder.
01:39Number 9. Mark Summers and Burt Reynolds. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
01:43Who told you you were a neatness freak?
01:46Yeah, I just say that because your back is to me and I was just talking to her back.
01:50No, no, I can talk to you too, Burt.
01:52Watch out, he's got scissors.
01:54Though they both worked in the same industry, Mark Summers and Burt Reynolds excelled at
01:59completely different areas. Summers was a pro at hosting kid shows, while Reynolds was the
02:05ultimate tough guy on screen. Their paths probably never would have crossed had they not both been
02:10booked for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on the same night in October 1994. Reynolds was already
02:16cranky after Leno joked about his divorce, so when Summers made a similar wisecrack,
02:21Reynolds wasn't having it.
02:23You know, I was just wondering who told you that?
02:24Because my wife tells me that often.
02:26She says, good morning.
02:27I'm still married, as a matter of fact.
02:29Yes, well you are.
02:30Oh!
02:40What followed was a showdown involving cups of water and a humiliating pie fight.
02:50Safe to say, neither of them anticipated ending up in a pastry war when they left their houses that day.
02:56One, two, three!
03:00Number 8. Drea Michelle, The Wendy Williams Show.
03:07Talking about your sex life can be awkward enough,
03:09but imagine doing it on national TV in front of millions.
03:13Do you ever feel like, um, by putting your reputation out there like that,
03:17that nobody, no reasonable man would ever want to marry you?
03:21That all you are would be a trick? I mean, you know what I mean.
03:24I mean...
03:25That was the cringeworthy situation reality TV star Drea Michelle found herself in
03:30when she appeared on The Wendy Williams Show in 2011.
03:34Without warning, Williams put Michelle in the hot seat,
03:37asking her how many basketball players she'd been with.
03:40How many basketball players have you been with?
03:42I know that's, I know that's, if you don't watch the show,
03:45that seems like, Wendy, you're crazy.
03:47But she's been, she, this girl has gotten around,
03:51and I appreciate you being honest about it.
03:53Even she realized how bold her question was,
03:56and tried to justify it by implying that Michelle had an active romantic history.
04:00From there, the interview spiraled into one wild moment after another,
04:05with each of Williams' statements being more shocking than the last.
04:09There were words on the show that you had been with three basketball players in one night,
04:12like passed around.
04:14The discomfort was clearly written on Michelle's face,
04:17yet she kept her cool through it all.
04:20Number 7
04:21Vince McMahon
04:22On The Record With Bob Costas
04:24How many times did Bob Costas interrupt Vince McMahon before he let him answer the question?
04:28WWE bigwig Vince McMahon has dabbled in almost every sport imaginable.
04:33But perhaps his most spectacular flop was the short-lived XFL Football League,
04:38which barely limped through a single season before petering out with little fanfare.
04:43This debacle was thrown back in McMahon's face
04:45during a 2001 chat with sportscaster Bob Costas.
04:58The interview got off to a tense start, with Costas firing off questions,
05:03covering everything from the XFL's crash landing,
05:06to the rather unsafe practices at the WWE, and barely giving McMahon a chance to respond.
05:12By the end, McMahon was very close to kicking Costas' butt,
05:16which he later admitted he might have done if the host wasn't physically smaller than him.
05:26Number 6
05:27Lindsay Lohan
05:29Late Show With David Letterman
05:36By now, it's no secret that Lindsay Lohan went through a rough patch
05:39during the late 2000s and early 2010s. She was still dealing with these issues when she
05:44appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman in 2013 to promote an upcoming film. But if Lohan
05:50was expecting to only talk about the movie, she was definitely in for a surprise, as Letterman
05:55immediately dived into questions about rehab, which wasn't on her pre-approved list of topics.
06:01While Letterman and his audience seemed to find this amusing, Lohan was visibly uncomfortable and
06:12unsuccessfully tried steering the discussion towards the film. At the end of the segment,
06:17though, Letterman praised Lohan for enduring his jokes, which made her tear up.
06:29Number 5
06:30Tom Selleck
06:31The Rosie O'Donnell Show
06:33Rosie O'Donnell is no stranger to confrontation, but back in 1999, when she hosted her variety
06:39talk show, her image was more warm and fuzzy, which made what happened in this interview
06:44quite surprising. The segment, which was meant to promote Tom Selleck's movie The Love Letter,
06:55was filmed in the aftermath of the Columbine tragedy. Selleck, a known NRA supporter,
07:01found himself in the hot seat as O'Donnell veered off-topic to grill him about the organization's
07:06stance on gun control, a topic they had supposedly agreed to avoid.
07:16The interview quickly descended into a fiery exchange, with Selleck trying to defend his
07:21position and O'Donnell interjecting at every turn. Ultimately, neither party walked away
07:26feeling heard or understood. Number 4
07:36Jennifer Aniston – Late Show with David Letterman
07:46Celebrities often appear on late-night talk shows to plug their latest
07:50projects, and Jennifer Aniston was no exception when she graced The Late
07:54Show with David Letterman in 1998. Aniston was there to promote her film,
07:59The Object of My Affection, but hardly said a word about it when the interview took a rather
08:03disturbing turn. In the middle of their conversation, Letterman suddenly drew
08:08closer to the actress and sucked on a strand of her hair. Aniston was laughing
08:19throughout the encounter, but it was clear that this invasion of her private space made her very
08:24uncomfortable. When asked if the experience was traumatizing, Aniston replied with an enthusiastic
08:30yes, because honestly, who wouldn't be? Number 3
08:42Mariah Carey – The Ellen DeGeneres Show
08:51Talk show hosts love getting the scoop on celebrity news, from the celebrities themselves.
08:56Ellen DeGeneres, however, devised a particularly crafty method of doing this when it came to
09:02singer Mariah Carey. In 2008, rumors were swirling that Carey was pregnant. Although the buzz was
09:08true, Carey wasn't ready to share the news due to a previous miscarriage. She tried avoiding
09:14DeGeneres' question, but the host then whipped out a bottle of champagne, nudging her to drink
09:26and thus confirm the speculation. Carey ended up faking a sip, which was all DeGeneres needed to
09:32erupt in cheers. While it may seem like a funny moment, the exchange left Carey feeling uneasy.
09:38She sadly suffered another miscarriage shortly after.
09:44Number 2 Tom Cruise – Today
09:56Tom Cruise's 2005 press tour for War of the Worlds was nothing short of legendary.
10:01Besides his unforgettable couch jumping on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Cruise also had a fiery
10:06interview with former Today Show anchor Matt Lauer. The conversation started off smoothly,
10:11focusing on the film and Cruise's then-girlfriend Katie Holmes. It then took a bizarre turn when
10:17Lauer caught Cruise off guard with questions about his criticism of Brooke Shields for using
10:23medication to treat postpartum depression.
10:25What Adderall is, do you know Ritalin? Do you know now that Ritalin is a street drug?
10:30Do you understand that?
10:31The difference is, this was not against her will though.
10:34But this wasn't against Brooke's will.
10:36Matt, I'm asking you a question.
10:37Cruise quickly grew frustrated, passionately defending his stance and lecturing Lauer on
10:42the history of psychiatry and the dangers he believed antidepressants posed.
10:47You should do that also, because just knowing people who are on Ritalin isn't enough. You
10:51should be a little bit more responsible in knowing-
10:54I'm not prescribing Ritalin, Tom.
10:55This intense face-off between two unyielding parties
10:59remains one of the most contentious interviews in the show's history.
11:02You're telling me what's worked for people I know, or hasn't worked for people I know,
11:06and I'm telling you, I've lived with these people. And they're better.
11:11So you're advocating it?
11:12I am not. I'm telling you, in their case-
11:15I quit seeing certain men.

11:311. Joan Rivers-CNN Newsroom
11:34I tell the truth. I'm sure I say the same things that all your viewers say to their friends
11:39sitting next to them on the couch.
11:41It was no small task taking Joan Rivers by surprise.
11:45The legendary comedian always seemed ready for anything.
11:48But when she appeared on CNN Newsroom in 2014 to promote her new book,
11:53Diary of a Mad Diva, Rivers probably wasn't expecting to be quizzed about her style of
11:57comedy and choice of attire.
12:00Sure enough, those were the questions host Frederica Whitfield lobbed her way,
12:05calling her out for being mean and interrogating why she was wearing fur on her book cover.
12:10Even with your fashion critiquing, while it's very mean in some ways-
12:14It's not mean. It's not mean.
12:16Really? It's not mean?
12:17Rivers was not amused by this line of questioning.
12:20You know, this whole interview is becoming a defensive interview.
12:23No!
12:24Are you wearing leather shoes?
12:27Yes! No, I'm- You know what I mean?
12:29She wasted no time in putting Whitfield in her place, then abruptly cut the interview short,
12:35proving that Mad Diva wasn't just a title, it was a state of mind.
12:39You know, I'm going. I really am going because all you have done is negative.
12:43All you have done is negative. I haven't heard ne-
12:47I made people laugh for 50 years. I am put on earth to make people laugh.
12:51Which of these interviews shocked you the most? Let us know in the comments.
12:55This is not supposed to be a personal affront, and it's not. I don't say that you-
12:58Well, it's certainly very entertaining. Look at the audience. They're just laughing and having a great time.
