00:00If we are flipping over to the AL here, the standings, looks like we're going to have
00:08a matchup in the playoffs that's going to come right down to the wire.
00:12If we're just focusing here on the AL top teams, the Yankees, Guardians, Astros, we
00:16don't think anybody's going to challenge them.
00:18But my goodness, the Detroit Tigers here, Craig, today, half game out of a playoff spot
00:23surging up the standings.
00:25The Royals are falling back.
00:27The twins are trying to hang in there.
00:28The Baltimore Orioles look like they're going to the playoff, but we have some fun left
00:32in the tank in the AL.
00:34Who gets in, Craig, here?
00:35Who are those final spots?
00:37Yeah.
00:38Yeah.
00:39This is the time of the year where people stop paying a lot of attention to baseball,
00:42unfortunately.
00:43But if you are paying attention and you're watching the teams that are hot, there's certainly
00:46a chance that a team like Detroit not only gets in, but also goes far.
00:51You really have to monitor this sort of stuff.
00:54I may take a shot here on them getting to the ALCS or even further than that.
01:00The odds are just so long at this point, but there's no team playing better baseball.
01:04And the team that is hot at the end of the season generally goes the furthest.
01:08Now, again, it doesn't apply to all teams here, but the Tigers right now are playing
01:12phenomenal baseball, pitching incredibly.
01:14They're dominating right-handed pitching also.
01:16Riley Green has done well.
01:18Kerry Carpenter has done well.
01:20So I kind of like what I'm seeing with the Tigers.
01:22They may not even make the playoff.
01:24Certainly that's possible, too.
01:25But if I'm placing bets on anything, give me the team that is the hottest, that's a
01:29game or two out, and I'll ride with them to see how far they go.
01:34Detroit 18-7 since August 22nd, when they were four games below .500.
01:40The Tigers trying to stop a decade drought from postseason baseball.
01:43It would be their first playoff berth since 2014.
01:47Craig Donnie asked you for the American League who gets in.
01:51I ask a similar question in the National League.
01:53The Mets and the D-backs tied for the final two spots.
01:56The Padres in front by two and a half games for the top spot in the wildcard chase.
02:00And the Braves now a full two games back.
02:03Are the three wildcard teams currently in those spots, or will this look different in
02:09about 10 days' time?
02:11Yeah, this one is a little silly to handicap because you have the Mets and Braves playing
02:14each other next week.
02:15So it's, you know, we'll be back on the show.
02:17That's when we can really break this all down.
02:19You have a juicy head-to-head matchup.
02:23One team wins three.
02:24The other team loses three.
02:25That team's getting in.
02:26I mean, there's only going to be three games left after that point.
02:28So I think we should probably reset this one and touch on that series next week because
02:32that's going to determine it.
