00:00It's the Colmore Food Festival, I've been hosting it for 11 years and I'm here to host
00:06the 11th Food Festival back here in Victoria Square.
00:10What makes this event so special is it's Birmingham businesses, many of which are within the heart
00:16of the Colmore Business District and they come here and showcase what they do best.
00:21It's food, it's drink, it's Michelin star chefs, there's lots for kids and also the
00:26live entertainment on stage, an array of artists from jazz to acoustic musicians down
00:32to bands later on this evening.
00:34The Colmore Food Festival started 11 years ago here on Victoria Square.
00:38It's a showcase of food and drink venues from the city centre.
00:41We've got 26 traders here today from Colmore Business District and the wider city.
00:46We bring the community together, we do free face painting, free craft sets for children
00:51and this time we've had an amazing kids hour with Aditi on stage, bringing all the children
00:56together having a nice sing and dance.
00:58This festival is really, really unique and special, again because of the family element
01:03of it.
01:04We look at the cost of living crisis, we look at the economy, we put price caps on things
01:08so it's affordable for everyone.
01:09If you don't want to come and buy food and drink, you can come along for free and just
01:12enjoy the entertainment and we really think about how we can entertain and educate the
01:17children of the city by providing free books and free craft sets.
01:20So I just think that's what makes it so unique.
01:22We've seen the businesses come out and we've seen families come in.
01:25I think since Commonwealth Games, the city was booming, it was busy, it was alive, but
01:31we need to keep that consistence.
01:33So now the city's been alive, everyone's been together, it's just been a really fun, fantastic
01:38two days.
01:39Jamaica offers food ranging from chicken, we've got vegetarian options as well, mostly
01:44rooted from Jamaica, so it has the jerk spices and all the flavours.
01:48Yeah, it's been lovely being here, the music's beautiful, the people are so nice and it's
01:52nice vibes.
01:53So just knowing that people are coming around here just to see what's going on and enjoying
01:58the food and they can hopefully come in and be customers.
02:01This is our first year of trading, so obviously we're really excited to be here, see what
02:05it's all about, you know, and expose our brand to the city of Birmingham.
02:09It's a great community spirit, I think everyone being here, you know, we wanted to showcase
02:12obviously our products and everyone sort of understand what F1RK does in terms of food
02:17and drink, as well as our simulation experience as well.
02:21So yeah, it's really good to see people in and around, trying the food, trying the drinks.
02:26It's great, it's so lovely to see so much happening in Birmingham that it's very up
02:30and coming and quite a special place to be as well.
02:34It's lovely, we love a food festival, so to see all the higher end ones from Birmingham
02:40is really nice.
02:41We stayed here last night and we were just heading back to the station and fell upon
02:46it and we love it.
02:47It's a great food, great atmosphere as we said.
02:50We've missed quite a few trains now.
02:53By staying here, yeah, it's lovely, the food, the people, it's really, really nice.
