00:00Oh, check it out. There's me, in all my fabulousness. I am so awesome.
00:11See, guys like this. No, wait, no. Not guys like those. Those guys were ugly as fuck, but...
00:28I would stop at nothing to reduce every single one of you.
00:34I've been doing a lot of thinking about how sad and unfair my life has been. All because girls haven't been attracted to me.
00:52The man you're looking at is 22-year-old YouTuber Elliot Rodger.
00:56This video is one of many he recorded lamenting his obsession with his love life, or lack thereof.
01:02Although his growing anger went ignored, there were countless other red flags throughout Elliot's life that he was plotting something horrific.
01:10But no one could have ever predicted just how disturbing his true thoughts were.
01:15Well, this is my last video.
01:18Or how far he would go to seek his retribution.
01:21Tomorrow is the day of retribution.
01:25But if you think you knew just how disturbing his thoughts were, think again.
01:30Through since-removed homemade videos, many that have never been seen before, you'll soon learn the rabbit hole goes deeper than you think.
01:38In the infamous case of Elliot Rodger.
01:429-1-1, what's the address of the emergency?
01:45I'm at Ivy Valley.
01:47You're dialing somebody else's on the line.
01:50I don't know what just happened.
01:52Were you injured?
01:53I was shot.
01:54Okay, where are you?
01:56Somebody else's. We're at Ivy Valley in Isle Vista.
01:59Okay, you're at Ivy Valley and somebody's shot?
02:02Yeah.
02:03Okay.
02:04What happened?
02:05The frantic 9-1-1 call you've just heard was made after someone witnessed a terrifying encounter at a local restaurant in Santa Barbara, California.
02:13Minutes before, the well-known eatery was filled with hungry college students set on having a late night snack.
02:20But unbeknownst to the customers, a vicious and diabolical killer was heading their way, who would soon haunt the vulnerable college town.
02:28Hey, Elliot Rodger here.
02:36Just took a nice walk in the park.
02:38Check out that sunset.
02:42Today I'm at the golf course, though I don't actually play golf.
02:47I only come here to admire the whole beauty and serenity of the place.
02:53That's one of the few places where I can come and truly have a sense of escape.
03:00It's my place of refuge.
03:02The sunlight's about to fade, so I'll end this video soon.
03:10Yeah.
03:13Childhood.
03:22It all has to come to this.
03:26I'm 22 years old, and I'm still a virgin.
03:30I've never even kissed a girl.
03:36You forced me to suffer all my life, and now I'll make you all suffer.
03:41I've waited a long time for this.
03:44I'll give you exactly what you deserve.
03:49All of you.
03:50All you girls who rejected me and looked down upon me, and all of you men for living a better life than me.
03:59All of you sexually active men.
04:01I hate you.
04:02I hate all of you.
04:04I can't wait to give you exactly what you deserve.
04:09To truly understand how he came to commit such an atrocity, we have to start at the beginning.
04:14Before moving to America, the Rogers lived a simple life in London, and they embarked on thrilling trips around the world.
04:21Elliot recalled his childhood as memories of happiness and bliss, recollections that would soon be overshadowed by anger and indignation.
04:30He enjoyed activities typical that of a young boy, skateboarding, video games, playing outside, and reading.
04:37So how did this seemingly normal kid transform into a vicious mass murderer?
04:43Elliot Roger here.
04:45And here I am at Sarania Park, the most significant place of my childhood.
04:51I wish I could be a kid again.
04:53Those were the happy years.
04:55And I could just live my life without realizing how cruel the world really is.
05:00According to Lee Chen Roger, Elliot's mother, Elliot was a withdrawn and shy child growing up who enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family.
05:10My mom just ordered me the book I've been waiting for for so long.
05:15This is so awesome.
05:18I'm going to read it now.
05:19He would often write down what he wished to say rather than speaking aloud, possibly indicating that Elliot had developed social anxiety from an early age.
05:28After moving to America at the age of five, Elliot's parents enrolled him in a private school where he made his first friend in the States, a young girl in the same class.
05:38Looking back, it was very ironic that his first friend after the move was a girl, considering that she would quickly become everything that Elliot despised.
05:48My parents used to always take me here when I was a kid.
05:52Back when my life was happy and fair.
05:56Back when I thought the world was fair.
05:59How naive I was.
06:02I was only an innocent child.
06:04Although Elliot would come to hate many people, his love for his family would remain.
06:09However, a few months after Elliot's seventh birthday, he was saddened to hear that his parents would be getting a divorce.
06:16Following the split, Peter Roger, Elliot's father, introduced Elliot to a woman named Sumaya, his soon-to-be stepmother.
06:23Although Elliot thought it was very sudden that his father had found a new girlfriend, Elliot admired him for acquiring a fresh relationship as quickly as he did.
06:32This is when Elliot's mindset switched.
06:35He came to believe that being attractive meant you would achieve more in life, something he would continue to believe for the rest of his life.
06:43At the age of nine, Elliot developed strong feelings of jealousy and envy.
06:48He would become angry if one of his friends played with someone else and did not like the idea of sharing.
06:54Although this can be typical of young children, these intense emotions would eventually dictate Elliot's state of being for the remainder of his life.
07:02This is my usual sunset spot, mainly because there's rarely any young couples here that I would get jealous of.
07:10He craved attention and thought that if he dressed in fashionable clothes and bleached his hair, that his status in the so-called hierarchy would ascend.
07:19But as time went on, Elliot found himself to be an outcast.
07:24I've been cast out. No one likes me. No one accepts me.
07:30All my life I've been struggling to fit in with the popular kids. I've been struggling to get a girlfriend.
07:38No one, no one has ever accepted me.
07:43In an attempt to help the young child, Elliot's parents began taking him to psychiatrists.
07:48These visits became routine throughout Elliot's life, but unfortunately, no one was able to prevent the horrific events to come.
07:58Hey, Elliot Roger here. I'm sitting in my car, making another entry in my collection of V-logs.
08:10Ever since I hit puberty, I've wanted girls. I've desired girls. I've been sexually attracted to girls.
08:19But they've never shown any attraction back to me.
08:24Elliot stated that his joyful existence came to a halt during his ascendance into puberty, in which he claimed to have begun his prolonged vendetta against the female species.
08:35Identifying as the invisible kid in school, Elliot began acting out to gain attention, to which he undoubtedly succeeded.
08:43He was teased by his fellow classmates, and remembered one girl in particular that would regularly berate Elliot with her friends.
08:50Elliot began to hate all girls because of this.
08:53Regardless, his entire existence from here on out revolved around one goal, acquiring a girlfriend.
09:00Although he possessed a strong hatred for the young classmate, he believed that having a girlfriend would make him happy.
09:07But as he grew older, the promise of accomplishing such a task seemed to become almost impossible.
09:12Elliot went on to use this fact as a twisted justification to commit an unthinkable crime.
09:18We cannot draw any conclusions regarding the likelihood that Elliot had a personality disorder, but his intense desire for attention is a key feature of narcissistic personality disorder.
09:29You denied me a happy life. You deprived me of ***.
09:34And I will take great pleasure in denying you life.
09:40It's only fair.
09:43Elliot became depressed into his teen years due to the fact that he transferred through multiple schools and was continually bullied at each one.
09:56Not long after, his parents resorted to homeschool.
09:59His social anxiety worsened, and he was prescribed Xanax and Prozac, but stopped taking them after a year.
10:07It came to a point that at the age of 16, he broke down at a family friend's dinner and confessed that he wished to commit ***.
10:15This was due to the fact that one of the girls at the dinner had invited her cool friends, as Elliot referred to them.
10:21He was unable to cope with the thought that he was not a part of the cool kid group.
10:26Additionally, he grew upset about the lack of attention from girls that he desired and felt disgusted when he would see others in relationships.
10:35I've concluded that females have a very flawed and perverted form of *** attraction.
10:44After high school, Elliot attended Pierce Community College, where his behavior became increasingly aggressive.
10:50Remaining an outcast, he was supposedly attacked by fellow students, including an incident where four young men threw eggs at him while Elliot was walking back to his mother's house.
11:01Elliot retaliated by throwing an egg at their car, causing the men to initiate a fight.
11:06He was armed with a knife and brandished it to scare the boys off.
11:10After this incident, he felt powerful and would soon invoke similar acts.
11:15Elliot maintained a few friends throughout his college experience, but his extreme views on women and the world had put a strain on their relationship.
11:24Elliot felt even more slighted by this.
11:27He eventually dropped out of Pierce and enrolled at Moorpark, but then transferred to Santa Barbara City College where he studied history and geography, although his focus remained on his anger towards other people.
11:39While attending Santa Barbara City College, Elliot moved into an apartment in Isla Vista and soon began exploring his new surroundings.
11:58He would frequent the local Starbucks, where, inevitably, he often witnessed couples waiting in line.
12:04On one occasion, he supposedly became so infuriated at a specific couple that he followed them out of the establishment before splashing them with hot coffee.
12:13He apparently did the same to two girls on a separate occasion that didn't show him the attention he thought he deserved.
12:20Elliot felt triumphant after his unprovoked attacks and quickly realized that he was capable of doing much more.
12:27I am so angry right now.
12:30I was enjoying a peaceful time at this beach park, and what comes to sit in front of me?
12:37A young couple, a guy with his hot girlfriend.
12:41I mean, who do they think they are?
12:43Coming here, sitting in front of me to make me feel jealous?
12:47This is the reason why I hate the world.
12:51This is getting too out of hand.
12:53I can't go anywhere anymore without seeing these young couples getting jealous and having them remind me of what I'm lacking in life.
13:05Narcissistic people are extremely hypersensitive to criticism and rejection and can become angry, spiteful, and violent towards anyone whom they perceive as mistreating them or not giving them the special treatment they feel they deserve.
13:18This is not only due to the narcissist's fragile self-esteem, but also because they feel they are special and unique and should therefore be accepted, welcomed, and admired by all those they interact with.
13:31Undeniably, this seemed to be the case for young Elliot.
13:35He was still very intent on having a girlfriend and thought that becoming rich would make him more attractive to girls.
13:42Using the monthly allowance from his parents, he spent this on high-end clothes, including brands such as Armani and Hugo Boss.
13:50Right now I'm wearing my Hugo Boss shirt. It's one of my favorite button-down shirts.
13:56This is a shirt I wore to the premiere of The Hunger Games.
14:04It looks fabulous.
14:07And yeah, I did walk on the red carpet on that premiere, which was quite an experience indeed.
14:16He strived to look of extreme wealth and felt that he was superior to all other men when doing so.
14:22He even spent $700 on lottery tickets and took multiple trips to Arizona to purchase them but failed to win.
14:29He felt hopeless about his life, and it was around this time when Elliot considered the idea of carrying out a deadly act of revenge.
14:37He deemed it the Day of Retribution.
14:40It's truly a beautiful day, but as I've always said, a beautiful environment is the darkest hell if you have to experience it all alone.
14:57And sadly, I've been alone for a very long time.
15:01I do everything I can to appear attractive to you.
15:06I dress nice. I'm sophisticated and magnificent.
15:12I have a nice car, a BMW. Well, it's nicer than 90% of the people in my college.
15:22You know, I'm polite. I'm the ultimate gentleman.
15:28And yet, you girls, you never give me a chance.
15:34I don't know why.
15:37You know, I put a lot of effort into dressing nice.
15:43These sunglasses here were $300.
15:49Giorgio Armani. So I put them on.
15:54See?
15:55I'm the guy you should be going for, not those obnoxious slobs you love so much.
16:02I don't know why you're not attracted to me. I don't know what you don't see in me.
16:07But I'll make sure you all pay for it.
16:10Elliot's speech and mannerisms are similar to that of individuals with developmental delays,
16:15specifically autism spectrum disorder.
16:18The dialect can be recognized as monotone and flat,
16:21but in some cases it can be exaggerated with the use of very formal vocabulary,
16:27as is the case with Elliot.
16:29You've deprived me of love and affection all my life.
16:34And that's a declaration of war.
16:37If it's war you want, then war you shall have.
16:41Adults with autism spectrum disorder sometimes speak and behave in a manner
16:45that mimics a favorite TV or movie character.
16:48Elliot seemed to have been doing this as he appeared to be impersonating the words
16:52and facial expressions of an evil villain.
16:55It would later be confirmed that Elliot was diagnosed with Asperger's disorder,
16:59which is now known as autism spectrum disorder.
17:02But in no way does this correlate with his actions.
17:06I'm going to show you all a short little tour of this college town called Isla Vista.
17:16Every time I drive through this place I am overcome with rage.
17:21Here it is. I'm approaching a street called Del Playa.
17:27So many beautiful girls walking around here.
17:32But they would never give me a chance.
17:34See, look at that one. I just passed one.
17:37Here we go. Look at this.
17:40Groups of hot young sluts who would just reject me.
17:46And these, look at these douchebags right here.
17:49These assholes. These obnoxious little slobs.
17:55Those are the kind of guys that girls like instead of magnificent gentlemen like myself.
18:02Hold on, let me check if I'm getting some good footage.
18:06Am I?
18:08To fuel his rage he would also scour the streets of Isla Vista at night,
18:12hoping to find couples and beautiful young women to chastise from his car.
18:17You're an asshole.
18:20You're mine.
18:22This further indicates Elliot's sense of grandiosity,
18:26as he likely felt a surge of confidence while stating the insults.
18:30It's noteworthy that he makes these comments from the safety of his car,
18:33rather than confronting the ongoers face to face,
18:36giving him the feeling that he had the upper hand.
18:39Here I am, Elliot Rodger.
18:42Beautiful, magnificent gentleman.
18:46Though the girls around this town don't see it.
18:54This world does not make sense.
19:00This revulsion for people and relationships compelled Elliot to share his thoughts in online forums,
19:06one of them being bodybuilding.com, where he writes,
19:10it's been my life's struggle to get a beautiful white girl.
19:14Along with this, authorities located several other posts written by Elliot
19:18that continue to expound his fury for women,
19:21such as, women don't deserve rights,
19:24and they are evil, sadistic beasts who whore themselves out to degenerate men
19:28and ignore the men who actually deserve them.
19:31There were about 28 pages filled with similar rhetoric,
19:35each post more hostile than the last.
19:38Look, that's the house I got beat up at,
19:42when I walked in on the party.
19:47That was about, almost a year ago now.
19:51The beating that Elliot referred to happened during the summer of 2013.
19:55While at a house party, Elliot was jumped by a group of college kids
19:59before being pushed off of a 10-foot balcony.
20:02He stated that they were trying to hurt him without reason,
20:05but the truth was later revealed that Elliot had attempted to shove multiple girls off of the balcony,
20:10after making gestures to imitate shooting a gun towards the partygoers.
20:15A group of young men intervened, and of course,
20:18Elliot lied about what happened to his family, and the police.
20:22Once again, he was furious that the girls didn't take an interest to him,
20:26and violently retaliated.
20:28The violent party event would be Elliot's last straw.
20:32You see guys like this,
20:34right now, not guys like those.
20:37Those guys were ugly as fuck, but...
20:39You see, look, look here.
20:42A house party.
20:44Beautiful girls talking with their...
20:48with their frat boys.
20:50I hate them all.
20:52They think they're better than me.
20:54They'll never accept me as one of them.
20:57Those girls would never go for me.
21:00During the later months of 2013, Elliot received two new roommates,
21:04students at UCSB, who he greatly disliked.
21:08Their arguments seemed to be a daily occurrence,
21:11Elliot even reported one of the young men to the local authorities for stealing his candles.
21:16The two friends found Elliot to be strange and obnoxious,
21:19and planned to report him to their complex manager.
21:22The tension would continuously rise,
21:25but unfortunately, the pair would eventually meet a cold and cruel fate.
21:30The girls are not...
21:34attracted to me.
21:37There's a major problem with that.
21:40A major problem.
21:43That's a problem that I intend to rectify.
21:49In preparation for the unforgettable day,
21:52it was discovered that Elliot read books on mass murderers and serial killers at the library,
21:57but would never actually take the literature home.
22:00I will not let this fly.
22:04It's an injustice that needs to be dealt with.
22:16He would also research various torture equipment, such as Spanish Inquisition torture devices,
22:22but it was later revealed in a recovered document just how far he was willing to go to attain his satisfaction.
22:28Following Elliot's chilling preparation,
22:31the day had finally come for the twisted mind to take his revenge.
22:35Well, this is my last video.
22:39It all has to come to this.
22:42Tomorrow is the day of retribution.
22:47The day in which I will have my revenge against humanity.
22:52Against all of you.
22:54Well, this is it.
22:58This is my last video.
23:03It all has to come to this.
23:07Tomorrow is the day of retribution.
23:10It's evident here that Elliot is bordering on delusion with this bizarre performance.
23:15It's possible that his off-putting personality, so to say, is exactly what ostracized him from his peers,
23:21but Elliot's vindictive persona would propel him to organize a horrific attack.
23:27Before his day of retribution, it was discovered that Elliot had sent a disturbing email to his parents,
23:33therapists, and acquaintances entitled My Twisted World.
23:37This would later be known as Elliot's Manifesto,
23:40where he detailed his anger and frustrations toward the world, specifically women.
23:46Not only that, but the killer also went into chilling detail about what he really had planned
23:51for the vulnerable town of Isla Vista.
23:54Minutes ago, I finally checked my email, I saw this letter.
23:57It's from Elliot Roger, who's a Santa Barbara City College student.
24:00It's 141 pages.
24:03So when you get to the end, which is where I went to immediately, page 134,
24:08it's a very detailed attack based on what I'm taking in Isla Vista,
24:12including shooting people and driving in a car to intentionally run over pedestrians,
24:17and then shooting themselves.
24:19You girls have never been attracted to me.
24:22I don't know why you girls aren't attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it.
24:27It's an injustice, a crime, because I don't know what you don't see in me.
24:33I'm the perfect guy.
24:35And yet you throw yourselves at all these obnoxious men, instead of me, the supreme gentleman.
24:46I will punish all of you for it.
24:50Elliot's maniacal laugh almost sounds forced, like he's an actor playing a part,
24:57and his smile is likely feigned.
25:00Fake smiles are one of the most common nonverbal lies in body language,
25:04and only includes the mouth, compared to genuine smiles, which involve most of the face.
25:09Elliot also wrote that he planned to kill his younger half-brother, Jazz, and stepmother, Sumaya.
25:15He accredited this decision to his hatred for how Sumaya would supposedly mistreat him,
25:20and even though he mentioned that he and his half-brother had grown closer over the previous year,
25:25he could not bear the thought of having someone else live the life that he wanted.
25:30What are you doing, Jazz?
25:32Elliot wrote that Sumaya would allegedly chastise him,
25:35saying that Jazz would go on to become a successful actor.
25:38He'd have lots of friends, whereas Elliot would not.
25:42I'll be a god, exacting my retribution on all those who deserve it.
25:49And you do deserve it, just for the crime of living a better life than me.
25:54All you popular kids, you've never accepted me.
25:59All I've ever wanted was to love you, and to be loved by you.
26:06I've wanted a girlfriend.
26:09I've wanted sex. I've wanted love, affection, adoration.
26:16You think I'm unworthy of it.
26:21That's a crime that can never be forgiven.
26:24These thoughts are indicative of severe antisocial personality disorder.
26:29Based on the contents of the email, his desire for revenge,
26:32and his willingness to harm others in such a callous and vicious manner,
26:35indicates a complete lack of empathy and poor moral conscience.
26:39Although it was never expected that he would take his anger so far.
26:44Next, it would be uncovered that the original day of Elliot's retribution
26:48was previously set for April 26, 2014.
26:52This was due to the fact that he knew of his father's scheduled business trip,
26:56which guaranteed his absence.
26:58Elliot was sure he would be able to successfully complete the murders
27:01of his step-mom and step-brother,
27:03without worrying if he would have to kill his father.
27:06But two days before his arranged day of carnage, Elliot fell ill with a cold,
27:11and his dad arrived home from his trip earlier than expected.
27:15It seemed, in Elliot's murderous mind,
27:18that it wasn't of the right timing to commit his so-called revenge,
27:21as he so desperately wanted things to be perfect.
27:25He would then reset the date for May 24, almost a month later.
27:29But instead, for an unverified reason,
27:32the horrifying incident would occur the night prior,
27:36perhaps suggesting that Elliot assumed his retribution
27:39would last into the early morning hours.
27:42And in turn, I will deny all of you life.
27:49It's only fair.
27:52I hate all of you.
27:55Humanity is a disgusting, wretched, depraved species.
28:01While unaware that his future plans would be unexpectedly put on hold,
28:05Elliot released multiple YouTube videos one week prior to April 26, 2014,
28:11showcasing his frustrations with life.
28:14However, he wouldn't release his final video until the day of the shooting,
28:18which puts into detail just exactly what he intended to do.
28:22Although he does not speak of his set plan in the initial videos,
28:25it goes to show how his enraged mindset grew with each day.
28:31Oh, check it out.
28:34There's me.
28:36In all my fabulousness.
28:39Oh, yeah.
28:41Elliot Rodger.
28:45I am so awesome.
28:51When Elliot made these videos, he likely didn't imagine where they might end up,
28:55in the last place someone with a fragile ego would want them, Reddit.
29:00A participant located some of Elliot's videos,
29:03which many of the users described as disturbing and unpleasant to watch.
29:08One of them being a student at UCSB,
29:11who would then go on to confirm the deadly event to their fellow online peers.
29:16Many of the comments regarded Elliot's awkward mannerisms,
29:19some even predicting that he would go on to commit a terrible act.
29:23But others would shockingly side with Elliot,
29:26expressing their synonymous feelings of loneliness.
29:29Some of the accounts wished that they had warned police
29:32when they initially viewed the troubling content,
29:34but it was later revealed that the authorities had a chance to prevent the attack
29:38well before the memorable day.
29:41This world,
29:44it's so twisted.
29:47It's so cruel.
29:50And you girls make it cruel.
29:53You girls have starved me of
29:56and enjoyment and pleasure
29:58for my entire youth.
30:01You've taken eight years away from my life.
30:05Eight years I'll never get back.
30:08Elliot's mother came across the uncomfortable videos soon after they were posted,
30:12while researching her son's name,
30:14fearing that he may have been transported to a nearby hospital.
30:18The worried mother hadn't heard from Elliot in three to four days,
30:21and was feeling very uneasy regarding his whereabouts.
30:24After finding the alarming content,
30:26she immediately contacted mental health officials,
30:29who alerted the local authorities.
30:31Officers then began to look for Elliot,
30:34and found him in his apartment before proceeding to ask about the videos.
30:38When conducting the check, police surmised Elliot to be an extremely polite young man,
30:42that did not seem to be acting in a concerning manner.
30:46The 22-year-old convinced the authorities that he was completely fine,
30:49stating that he would not hurt himself or anyone else.
30:53Compared to the bold presence Elliot portrays on camera,
30:56in reality, he was very withdrawn and quiet.
31:00While the officers may have thought Elliot to be a normal resident of the college town,
31:04they never would have guessed that they were talking to a cold-blooded killer,
31:08who could have been stopped.
31:10Yes, yes, I'm a shy, quiet guy,
31:15but I have good qualities to myself.
31:17I'm a gentleman.
31:20You know, I'm sophisticated, I'm polite.
31:24I have good values.
31:28And I can be fun too, if they just give me a chance to open up.
31:33But girls never give me a chance, because they're evil and cruel like that.
31:38Although Elliot talked about his plan for the Day of Retribution in his most infamous video,
31:43he left out the horrific agenda that was supposed to take place one day before the actual attack.
31:49This included his idea of kidnapping, tormenting and killing his victims within his apartment.
31:55He admitted that in order to do so, he must eliminate his two housemates,
31:59so he can utilize the space for his diabolical activity.
32:03Next, he schemed to lure people in one by one,
32:06to which he alluded that monstrous acts would be performed.
32:10Unsurprisingly, Elliot stated that he would torture those he deemed attractive first.
32:15He detailed how he would pour boiling water on their bare skin,
32:20along with flaying, stripping and cutting their flesh before removing their heads.
32:25Finally, Elliot wanted to disperse the severed body parts amongst the city streets,
32:30while simultaneously executing his bloody rampage.
32:34You will finally see that I am, in truth, the superior one.
32:40The true alpha male.
32:44To begin his day of terror, Elliot attacked and killed 19-year-old George Chin, a friend of his roommates.
32:54He left his body in the fetal position, surrounded by blood-ridden paper towels in the apartment bathroom.
33:01The autopsy report would identify that George had been stabbed approximately 94 times.
33:07Elliot then took out his rage on his two roommates, 20-year-old Zuihan Wang and Chen Hong.
33:13He attacked and killed them in one of the bedrooms,
33:16leaving their bodies face down with bed sheets and clothes over them.
33:20They, too, died from multiple stab wounds.
33:24Hours after taking the lives of his first three victims, Elliot took his evil plan to the streets of Isla Vista.
33:32It's unknown what exactly he was doing in the time between killing his roommates and when he was spotted next.
33:38He was apparently seen at approximately 4.40 in the afternoon on May 23rd, 2014, while boarding a local bus in Santa Barbara.
33:48Bizarrely, two young girls were also walking in front of him, visibly shaken up.
33:53They sat very close together, once in their seat, while Elliot sat directly behind them.
33:58He supposedly whispered,
34:00''Don't look back,'' while his hand rested in his backpack, suggesting a gun was in his possession.
34:06He was apparently sharply glaring at the pair and looked very angry.
34:11The girls seemed like they were being held hostage by Elliot and possibly intimidated into getting on the bus with him.
34:17Unfortunately, it's unclear as to what may have happened to the individuals before and after this.
34:24Around 9.15 p.m. Elliot made his way to the Alpha Phi house in Isla Vista, California,
34:29where he planned to kill every girl that resided in the well-known sorority.
34:34He knocked on the large wooden door for three minutes straight, but the tenants refused to answer.
34:40Luckily for the girls, a code was required to enter, something apparently Elliot didn't know,
34:45although it was later discovered that he'd been stalking the sorority for quite some time.
34:51His inflated sense of self-esteem may have led him to think that someone would open the door for him without question.
34:57In his mind, he was an extremely attractive and well-dressed young man.
35:01Why wouldn't the girls open the door?
35:04Fortunately, the sorority sisters were able to dodge the determined Elliot, but others weren't so lucky.
35:21On the day of retribution, I am going to enter the hottest sorority house of UCSB.
35:34About 30 seconds after the pounding at their front door stopped,
35:38the young women immediately heard gunshots ringing out from the nearby surroundings.
35:42When they peered out of their windows, they were horrified to see three young women laying along the sidewalk and grass.
35:49When police responded to the scene, they found 19-year-old Veronica Wise and 22-year-old Katie Cooper deceased,
35:57resulting from multiple gunshot wounds.
36:19Both girls were part of the Tri-Delta sorority at UCSB
36:46and were simply walking to their intended destinations before being viciously shot and killed by Elliot.
36:52The third gunshot victim could be heard yelling,
36:55I'm going to die repeatedly while speaking to her mother on the phone,
36:59but it was later reported that she survived the horrific ordeal.
37:03Next, at approximately 9.27 p.m.,
37:06officers responded to numerous gunshots being heard from the area of Embarcadero del Norte and Pardal Road.
37:13After arriving, police spotted a couple of local college kids standing on the corner and asked about the tumultuous sounds.
37:20The students claimed that it was merely fireworks,
37:23but the officers would soon come to understand that it was far from anything celebratory.
37:29Humanity is a disgusting, wretched, depraved species.
37:34If I had it in my power, I would stop at nothing
37:40to reduce every single one of you to mountains of skulls and rivers of blood.
37:46After speaking with the college kids,
37:48police noticed a black BMW parked near the Isla Vista Deli, a local diner.
37:53Seconds later, they identified a young male frantically running to the vehicle before fleeing eastbound on Pardal.
38:00Little did the officers know, the man would turn out to be Elliot Roger,
38:04the prime murder suspect in this harrowing case.
38:07911, what's the address of the emergency?
38:10I'm at Ivy Deli.
38:12You're about to meet somebody else who's on the line.
38:15I don't know when this happened.
38:16Okay, were you injured?
38:18Were you injured?
38:19Somebody shot.
38:20Okay, where are you?
38:21Somebody else's. We're at Ivy Deli in Isla Vista.
38:24Okay, you're at Ivy Deli and somebody shot?
38:27Yeah, I don't know when this happened.
38:30Okay, I understand. Okay, I'm getting help started. Do you know how many people are hurt?
38:35I don't know.
38:37Okay, this is the police.
38:40Hello?
38:44Yes?
38:4634.
38:48Okay, I'll let you talk to them.
38:51Soon, the police heard screaming from inside of the deli and began making their way to the traumatized bystanders.
38:57Inside, they found a young man profusely bleeding while lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his chest.
39:04He would eventually be identified as 20-year-old Christopher Martinez, a student at UCSB.
39:10Initially, it was reported that Christopher could be seen breathing when police first arrived.
39:15But soon, one of the officers provided CPR as his breaths were no longer visible.
39:21Unfortunately, the first aid was to no avail.
39:24But Elliot's murderous rampage was far from over.
39:28Gunshot wound right in the belly.
39:3114-year-old medic, 23, got a gunshot wound.
39:36Elliot continued driving around the town of Isla Vista while simultaneously shooting the civilians and hitting them with his car, where he injured multiple people.
39:45During this time, numerous police officers responded.
39:48Some were forced to engage in shootouts with the killer.
39:52I was shot at from a BMW.
39:55Went down from Alamo to Dallas.
39:58Keep going, father.
40:01Keep going, father.
40:03We got another gunshot.
40:06Shots fired. Shots fired.
40:09The first shootout took place on Del Playa Road, where Elliot fired his weapon at one of the authorities from his BMW.
40:16Taking shelter between two parked cars, the officer was forced to shoot back in defense, but was unable to stop him.
40:23Next, Elliot traveled along Sabado Tarde Road while shooting his handgun out of his window at passing citizens.
40:30Fearing for their lives and those around, multiple officers amongst the area opened fire on the car, with only one round confirmed to have entered the vehicle.
40:39The bullet wounded Elliot on his upper left thigh, but unfortunately could not bring the ambush to a stop.
40:46All those popular kids who live such lives of hedonistic pleasure while I've had to rot in loneliness for all these years.
40:54They've all looked down upon me every time I tried to go out and join them.
40:58They've all treated me like a mouse.
41:01Well, now I will be a god compared to you.
41:05You will all be animals.
41:08You are animals.
41:10The horrific incident would eventually come to an end at approximately 9.35 p.m., when Elliot subsequently crashed his vehicle into the back of a parked black Jeep on Del Playa Road.
41:21Officers rushed the scene, where they found an additional victim that had been thrown off of his bike after being hit with Elliot's car.
41:28The authorities placed him in handcuffs, unsure if the person had been involved with the shooting.
41:34Quickly, they established that the individual was an innocent victim, and immediately provided medical treatment for his wounds.
41:43I am so godlike.
41:49The shooting lasted a harrowing eight minutes, but in that time, the community of Isla Vista would be drastically altered in the most sickening way.
41:58Police immediately began to investigate how someone could commit such an atrocity, and eventually found a shocking piece of information.
42:06My name's Sean Covey. I'm a property manager at an I.V. apartment.
42:10And I know something's going on in I.V.
42:13I just got an email from one of the residents, and it's, like, really disturbing.
42:21Okay, there's been a shooting in I.V.
42:25No, no, I understand that, but I got an email from a resident, and it's, like, 141 pages long, and it says, like, the life of Elliot Rodger.
42:34Okay.
42:35And at the end, it talks about killing people.
42:37Okay, yeah, we actually have somebody else. What's your name?
42:40Following the shooting, police once again made their way to Elliot's apartment, where they uncovered the bodies of his roommates, Weehan Wong and Chin Hong, and their friend, George Chin.
42:51The horror continued to unfold as law enforcement searched Elliot's room, where they found disturbing pieces of evidence, indicating that he had been planning the attack for an extensive amount of time.
43:02This included a small sledgehammer, one 18-inch blade machete, a zombie killer fixed blade knife, a folding knife, lottery tickets, a book entitled The Art of Seduction,
43:13various handgun cases, a printout of his 137-page email, personal journals, a hand-drawn picture of a person being stabbed by multiple knives, along with several additional items.
43:26The journal looked like it had been torn apart, but the latest entry, on May 23, 2014, read,
43:33I had to tear some pages out because I feared my intentions would be discovered.
43:37I taped them back together as fast as I could.
43:40This is it.
43:41In one hour, I will have my revenge on this cruel world.
43:44I hate you all.
43:46Die.
43:47Additionally, one of Elliot's button-up shirts and a pair of denim jeans were entangled in his bedsheets.
43:53A majority of the clothing was suffused in blood, most likely the outfit that Elliot wore while killing his roommates and their friend.
44:01Officers then noticed lengthy slashes and cuts that had been made to the bed, which suggests that Elliot may have been practicing how to use the deadly weapon before turning it on his first three victims.
44:12But, most eerily of all, authorities discovered Elliot's computer resting atop his sheets, open with the words,
44:19Your video has been uploaded, written across the screen.
44:23The ominous video would come to be Elliot's final, and most notorious, YouTube log,
44:28detailing the chilling and unimaginable plan to enact his revenge on the people of Isla Vista, entitled,
44:34Elliot Rogers' Retribution.
44:36Unfortunately, these items were found much too late, after Elliot had already carried out the truly evil act.
44:44To this day, many consider Elliot to be a glorious incel hero, but to most, he is known as a cold-blooded killer.
44:52Some claim that Elliot has provided them with inspiration, including the mass murderer Alec Manassian, who killed 11 people in 2018.
45:01Unfortunately, Elliot is still highly regarded as a hero to his cult following.
45:07Before authorities were able to ensure that Elliot faced the necessary consequences, he had completed his structured plan.
45:14Within Elliot's car, police found a Sig Sauer pistol, several loaded magazines, and a mix of unidentified prescription drugs.
45:22They also discovered Elliot's iPhone 4, containing 200 selfies, along with his infamous vlogs.
45:29The autopsy would later confirm that Elliot ended his life.
45:33But most would argue that the so-called incel hero took the easy way out, while so many had to endure the worst kind of suffering and pain.
45:43Within the short period of time, he would go on to injure 14 people, and viciously murder 6 innocent victims.
45:51Do you know how much misery you've caused me?
45:55I'm such a nice guy, why won't you give me a chance?
