00:00Shot was blocked by Dylan Tate, the Falkirk, as you say, they do like to play an expansive brand of fast-paced attacking football.
00:10They're a good team, Rory, they really are. You know, make no mistake about this, they've won 100% record, five games out of five in the league, and there's a reason for it, they play good football.
00:21It's neat between Yeats and Miller.
00:27Fouling James Forrest, they'll know each other well.
00:30Yeah, you can see here a nice touch from James Forrest, just a clash of the knees there perhaps that brought James Forrest down.
00:43But Calvin Miller, obviously formerly of Celtic, he's a big player for Falkirk, and he's going to have to have a big game here today if Falkirk have any hopes of getting anything out of the game.
00:55He'll be directly going up against long-term pal Anthony Ralston.
01:05Atati, now Luis Palma.
01:11Callum McGregor.
01:13Now Stephen Welsh, a first start for him since the victory over Feyenoord in the Champions League last season.
01:21Bernardo back to Forrest, he gives it shortly, what a save from Nicky Hogarth.
01:27Celtic flexed their muscles for the first time, but Hogarth was up to it. Fingertip save from the goalkeeper.
01:34Well, it looked like it was destined for the top corner, it really did.
01:37Lovely little bit of interchange between Paulo Bernardo and James Forrest, and it just looked like he was going to clip it at that far corner.
01:44You see it here, great angle, and Hogarth gets his fingertips to it, to push it past him, behind for the corner kick.
01:53Celtic's first corner goes front post, Mackie will knock it out and there will be a quick chance for a second.
02:05Hogarth had a battle with Sam Long for the number one jersey last season, but he's very much made it his own after another goalkeeper departed from Bromley.
02:15Palma, Forrest at the front post, what's a bit untidy in the six-yard box, and Volkert will eventually get it clear through Brad Spencer,
02:24who did take a bit of a bump in the process, but there were a few hearts fluttering in the away end there.
02:31Yeah, well it's just a little bit scrappy, it's McIver here with the header, and I think he's almost ducking it away with a shout from the goalkeeper at the same time.
02:41There's the save again, James Forrest is caught under his feet, and you can see exactly, that's a great angle, what a save that is.
02:49Nicky Hogarth there, that was a difficult one from Forrest because it caught under his feet, he's trying to dig it out, find the far corner, he did very well.
03:01Curling away from the keeper, and he had to be quick and alert and athletic to get over there and get his hands on it.
03:12Bernardo, another neat touch to Forrest, now Ida in behind, Hogarth has to be alert here, and is.
03:19Well I think we can see, already in the game, there is no let up from Celtic, they are right after it.
03:27The eight changes that have been made, there's still a continuity in regard to the way that they play.
03:33The system doesn't change either, players come in and slot to those positions, fully aware of what is expected from them, from this guy, Brendan Rodgers.
03:42His side are in fine form, and there is real competition for places now.
03:48The European exploits during the week, obviously takes a lot out of the team, but he's able to freshen it up.
03:57It's a first start for the man signed from Sheffield United.
04:02Now Ralston into Bernardo, goes Tate, bundles him over.
04:08Bernardo was probably one of the, for the unfortunate, one of the most difficult players to work with.
04:15He's got a lot of experience, he's got a lot of experience, he's got a lot of experience, he's got a lot of experience.
04:22Tate bundles him over, and Bernardo was probably one of the, for the unfortunate, one to drop out of this Celtic side.
04:30He was excellent in the derby against Rangers, but the record-breaking signing of Arne Engels, and the way that Engels has eased into that team,
04:39well, has more than eased, he's come in and made quite a splash.
04:44He really has, he just looks like top class addition for Celtic, and you're right, Bernardo was unfortunate.
04:50I've got to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed last season.
04:54You could see that he's not a bad player by any stretch, but I was surprised that Celtic lasted as long as they did in terms of going after Bernardo.
05:03But the moments I've seen this season, I think there's been a big improvement, even in the few games that he's had this season alone.
05:10And you're right, in the derby against Rangers, I thought he was outstanding.
05:13His best game in a Celtic jersey.
05:16And when you add it to the mix, the addition of Luke McCown as well, who obviously cup-tied today, but there is real competition in the middle of that bar.
05:25Forrest, Bernardo, then it's a bit loose from Forrest, who can only pick out Yeats, and now McKeever to Miller.
05:37Miller straight to Welsh.
05:39Slack, that needs to be better.
05:41You know, moments like that where they've got Celtic on a counter-attack, Calvin Miller's got to be more accurate with the pass there.
05:50Because you gift the ball away, you get a turnover to Celtic, and you look what happens.
05:55There's two passes and they're almost running through on your own goal.
05:59Brendan Rodgers actually gave Calvin Miller his debut back in 2016 against Partick Thistle.
06:07Visions of converting him into an attacking left-back.
06:11A position that was occupied by Kieran Tierney at the time.
06:14Here's Alex Valle, Celtic's latest recruit in that area.
06:19Signed on loan from Barclays.
06:21This is his first start of the season for the Honduran.
06:27Kicked off his Celtic career in fine form before just dropping off a level in the second half of last season.
06:37He's got to be a bit more aggressive.
06:40He's got to be a bit more aggressive.
06:43He's got to be a bit more aggressive.
06:46He's got to be a bit more aggressive.
06:48He's got to be a bit more aggressive.
07:19Plays that off Henderson. Some faint claims for a handball.
07:23The flag does go up in any case.
07:32He's a different option though, Ida, isn't he, to Kiyoko?
07:37Yeah, I mean, obviously there's a clip there of him running behind,
07:39which is something that Kiyoko just thrives on, playing on the shoulder of the defenders.
07:43But the physicality that Adam Ida brings clearly has a different dynamic to the side,
07:49and John McGlynn, I'm sure, will be mindful of that.
07:53But he's still very, very athletic.
07:56You can see here, willing to go and chase and harry the opposition,
08:00which is a hallmark of this Celtic side.
08:03Well, Miller lifted that one, trying to get Keelan Adams into the play.
08:08There was space there for him to attack.
08:13Come on!
08:23Kasper Schmeichel keeping his place in the side of Charleston,
08:26that sends that straight to Mackie.
08:29And Tate.
08:31Mackie's continuing his run forward.
08:32Aggemann with a bit of space out wide, and Bailly does well.
08:36But McKiever to strike!
08:38What a goal from Ross McKiever!
08:41What a moment for the striker.
08:43What a moment for Falkirk.
08:47Celtic fall behind.
08:51Delirium in the away end.
08:54The moment those supporters have come for.
08:57John McGlynn and Falkirk celebrate as they lead 1-0 at Celtic Park.
09:03And what a hit it was from Ross McKiever.
09:06They'll not be forgetting this quickly, that's for sure.
09:10A sensational strike.
09:13Drops to him and he's got one thought in his mind.
09:15Exactly that.
09:17He knows he's taken it on, he's got plenty of time to think and pick his spot.
09:22Celtic slow to react.
09:24Ross McKiever certainly is not, and Kasper Schmeichel is nowhere near it.
09:27You see Tate here, it wasn't the worst ball,
09:29it looked as if Aggemann was going to get in.
09:31It drops to McKiever and bang!
09:33What a goal.
09:38You know, talking about Falkirk and the side, the good side that they are,
09:43I don't think anybody was expecting that they'd have been taking the lead inside
09:50ten minutes in the game here at Celtic Park.
09:55But you can see already, they are not scared to take the lead.
09:59You can see already, they are not scared to get the ball and pass and probe.
10:04They're not wasteful.
10:06They really have a good balance and understanding of how to play the game
10:10and that's a credit to the manager John McGlynn.
10:13Now Celtic have got a different challenge.
10:17They're behind.
10:18How do they react?
10:20Well Celtic will throw everything at this to try and get back level
10:24as quickly as possible.
10:25Paolo Bernardo to take the corner kick and Welsh challenges with Hogarth
10:30that will just be the goal kick.
10:33But for Ross McKiever, his fifth goal of the season.
10:37Do you know what?
10:38He scored 18 times last season and in the PFA team of the year
10:43there were ten Falkirk players plus Romain Barel
10:47and Ross McKiever was the one to miss out.
10:50Outrageous.
10:51After scoring 18 goals as well.
10:55Maybe this just makes up for that.
10:58I've seen quite a few times this season already
11:02Ross McKiever and I like him.
11:06He's just another asset that Falkirk have
11:10and this is a side full of young Scottish talent.
11:16John McGlynn has got an eye for the talent.
11:18He's on the chase there.
11:19He releases Aguiman as well and Aguiman for two.
11:23But he never got the purchase on the shot
11:25and that will send further alarm bells around Celtic Park.
11:30Well, there's a real edge to the game, isn't there?
11:32You know, Celtic, clearly, a team full of ability
11:36and they're going to go after Falkirk here.
11:39But they need to realise that, as I said earlier on,
11:42Falkirk are a side who have got pace and energy
11:45and they'll be looking to do to Celtic what they're trying to do to them
11:48and break and counter it quick.
11:53There's an identity to this Falkirk team.
11:56You can see that there.
11:57McKiever's got an all-round game that's pretty good
12:00and he's got good awareness.
12:01You see this ball played over the top.
12:03McKiever knows exactly what's happening.
12:05He knows that his teammates are running through there.
12:07It's a lovely flick round to Aguiman.
12:10Just difficult in the end under the pressure from Trusty
12:13for Aguiman to be able to get anything on target.
12:18Look here, this is a side, Falkirk, they look to build.
12:20They're not just going to thump the ball away.
12:22They're going to keep looking to pass and probe.
12:29Well, they talked about that in the build-up to this game
12:32that John McGlynn's team have their way of playing
12:34and he won't change it, no matter who they're playing against.
12:38He's just picked up the Championship Manager of the Month for August.
12:41Of course, he was an employee here at Celtic,
12:44his first team scout in 2015-16.
12:47Worked with Brendan Rodgers.
12:49There's a great mutual respect between the two men.
12:52John McGlynn has said that Wraith Rovers and Falkirk
12:55have been the beneficiaries of that knowledge
12:58that has been passed down from Brendan Rodgers.
13:04Obviously, he's flagged offside there,
13:06but I don't really know why Aguiman didn't go and attack it.
13:09It doesn't matter as it was offside.
13:12That comes initially from this man, Liam Henderson, on the ball.
13:15He plays a lovely pass into Emaki in front of him
13:18so he can build the momentum and drive forward.
13:23Celtic, if they weren't aware before the game,
13:25they certainly are now that they're in this game.
13:28They've got a real opposition against them here.
13:31He's called Donalds with the ball forward to Finn Yeats,
13:33who's onside for now.
13:35Yeats all alone now, awaiting support,
13:38and Trusty gets across well to deal with him.
13:41And now the flag does go up.
13:46Trusty's obviously saying,
13:48why did the flag not go up earlier?
13:50But that is the way the game is.
13:52It gets played out.
13:54It's a great example, though,
13:56that this Falkirk team have positive momentum
13:59coming off the back of an unbeaten League One season
14:02coming into the Premier Sports Cup.
14:04They did lose away to Air United in the group stages,
14:07got through, though, at the cost of Dundee United.
14:10Five wins in a row, plus the victory against Chelsea.
14:14Plus the victory against Hearts in round two of this competition.
14:18It must be a great place to be around,
14:21after so long in League One.
14:23Five seasons.
14:25The key to this is there's substance behind it.
14:28It's not just that they're winning games
14:30and there's no real plan or identity.
14:32This is a side that know what they're doing.
14:35You can see there, even when Finn Yeats is running through,
14:39he's flagged offside.
14:41But that ball from Caldon, it's not a thump up the park.
14:43He's passing that into Yeats,
14:46who's running through in behind the Celtic defence.
14:49They've got patterns of play,
14:51and they've got good balance,
14:53and it's a side that are going to cause Celtic problems here this afternoon,
14:58as they've already been doing inside this opening 15 minutes or so.
15:03It's very interesting as well when you talk about that, the identity.
15:06This is a team that is built full of players
15:10who were once very, very promising.
15:12Tip for the very top Scotland under-19s,
15:1421s at some of the very big clubs in the country,
15:18and John McGlynn is now the man to be getting the best out of them,
15:21much as how Brendan Rodgers has done with many players at Celtic.
15:25Yeah.
15:27There's Paolo Bernardo on the reverse ball.
15:30I said this before, a team full of young Scottish talent
15:33that John McGlynn has obviously had an eye on throughout his career.
15:37As you see this driving run from Paolo Bernardo,
15:40he's unfortunate there, it's a good run.
15:42Just runs in behind the defence,
15:46a little bit too much weight on it, it gets away from him,
15:49but there needs to be an awareness there.
15:51I think it was Spencer he ran off the back of,
15:53you see him trying to pass on to his defenders.
15:56But John McGlynn deserves a lot of credit,
15:58recognising their talent and their ability,
16:01that they've just not made the grade at their first club.
16:05Perhaps they've made a couple of moves since then,
16:07but he's still recognising what he wants out of his side
16:11and how these players fit into that system that he wants.
16:15And when you talk about changing, and he says, well, why?
16:18Because see if you play this way and you play it well,
16:20it's very much the same vein as Celtic
16:22and the big debate about doing something different in Europe.
16:26When you play at the intensity that Celtic play at,
16:29it doesn't matter the level, that intensity is the key.
16:33And Falkirk have that as well.
16:38Here comes Celtic looking for the response.
16:41Luiz Palma steps inside.
16:48Callum McGregor will look to take this game by the scruff of the neck
16:52and drag his team back level.
16:55Haven't experienced going behind yet this season,
16:59only conceded now three times.
17:03As Liam Henderson knocks it out for another corner kick.
17:08Well...
17:10I mean, you picture Henderson and his centre-half partner,
17:13the captain, Paul Dawson, are going to be busy, you know that.
17:16Celtic are going to ask them a lot of questions
17:18and it's going to take a lot of concentration
17:21from those centre-halves in particular.
17:29Bernardo again, he whips them in with real pace and curl.
17:33Well, Hogarth was a little deceived,
17:36it comes off Adams for another corner.
17:39That's a dangerous ball in.
17:42Not particularly convincing there from Iggy Hogarth.
17:47As you said, he gets away with one.
17:51A very dangerous ball from Hullo Bernardo there.
17:57He'll look to try again, the Portuguese midfielder.
18:02Outswinger this time towards Welsh, but again Volker
18:06defend that six-yard line well.
18:18McGregor, Palma, offers it short.
18:24Ross is in the vein of Dylan Tate.
18:27Welsh to trusty.
18:32By eight.
18:34And Bernardo!
18:36Lashes Celtic level.
18:40The perfect connection from Paulo Bernardo.
18:44And Falkirk's lead is wiped out.
18:50Sometimes you've just got to take your hat off to the opposition
18:54and Falkirk will be looking at that and wondering
18:56what could have been done better.
18:58Not a great deal, this is a wonderful game.
19:00This is a wonderful goal.
19:02Look at the run here off the defender for Valle.
19:05Wonderful pass from Hattati and that is a sensational finish
19:08from Paulo Bernardo.
19:10Look at that clip ball, inch perfect.
19:12The knockdown from Valle and the finish from Bernardo.
19:17Sublime, it really is.
19:21Everything about that move is just top class from Celtic
19:25and very little Falkirk can do to stop it.
19:31First goal since signing permanently from Benfica
19:35over the summer.
19:37Last coming in is loan spell in March, Joanne Livingston.
19:50How often do you see that for Celtic?
19:53The full backs, whether it's on the outside or the inside channel,
19:57constantly looking to run in behind and penetrate the opposition.
20:02Good pass from Tate to Mackey,
20:04it was just behind Miller who looks to pick up now.
20:12Quickly taken by Falkirk, they're not sulking
20:15at the concession of that equaliser.
20:18Spencer picks up now Tate.
20:22Caldonaldson.
20:24The skipper.
20:26Moves it forward, Yeats.
20:28Aguiman.
20:30And Yeats!
20:32And it's just the side netting the ripples as Falkirk threaten again.
20:36Well, you see the finish from Paulo Bernardo
20:39and there was a similar opportunity here for Finn Yeats,
20:42he just gets a little bit too close to the ball.
20:45Here goes Palma up the other end, this game is relentless.
20:50It's wide open as well.
20:52Very entertaining, Aguiman's in.
20:56Schmeichel will come off his line.
21:00Really, really entertaining here,
21:02credit to Falkirk, Celtic getting themselves back level,
21:05but they're still showing that willingness
21:08and understanding of how they can go and hurt Celtic here.
21:13Finn Yeats had a great opportunity there.
21:17Mbappé infield to Tate again,
21:20looking for that run from Aguiman,
21:22who will pick up now.
21:25The angle closed off by Yeats.
21:28And then McGregor gets in just ahead of Dylan Tate
21:32and Eder will race on to this,
21:35he's not got much support work to do,
21:37he's got to get the ball back.
21:39He's got to get the ball back,
21:41he's got to get the ball back.
21:43He'll race on to this, he's not got much support work to do
21:46for the Republic of Ireland international.
21:49Holds it up really well,
21:51and Palma will surely fancy a shot on goal here.
21:58Just that first touch from Palma,
22:00he really needed to get it out his feet and forward
22:03so that he would have been in front of the retreating Falkirk player,
22:07and he would have been able to get a shot off perhaps
22:10five yards closer towards the goal.
22:14It's Welsh again, Eder's the man who's on his toes,
22:28but he'd actually just put the dummy run in
22:31and it was Welsh that was fooled by it.
22:35I think it just became a little bit telegraphed
22:37and you could see what Stephen Welsh was trying to do,
22:40and Liam Henderson had already read the pass,
22:42hence why I think Eder was wanting to stop the run.
22:45This is great play from Falkirk.
22:48McKeever to Miller and then Aggeman.
22:53Baye getting stuck in as well.
22:55Yeah, good defendant from Baye.
22:59He's got to be on his game here,
23:01because you can see early on,
23:04Aggeman is willing to make plenty of driving runs
23:10to stretch the game down that right-hand side.
23:13Barcelona alone, he's going to have to...
23:16You know somebody with that technical ability
23:19will throw back, they're going to want to get forward
23:21and involved in the game,
23:22but he's got to be concentrating on his defensive duties as well.
23:35Here's Palma, drifts away from Adams.
23:39He's not giving up the fight though.
23:42Now Aggeman gets in ahead of the Spaniard.
23:49That was better for Luis Palma, being direct.
23:54Good defending from Keelan Adams as well.
24:01Baye.
24:03Bernardo for Palma.
24:07Henderson repels it.
24:09Celtic will just come straight back to launch another attack.
24:14McGregor, Hatate.
24:16Ralston, crisp passes from Celtic.
24:20Trying to open up Falkirk again.
24:22James Forrest.
24:29Bernardo.
24:31Hatate.
24:37Falkirk.
24:43Looking for a patient approach for now.
24:46Ralston.
24:48Forrest, Hatate comes to.
24:50He doesn't mean to get the shot away,
24:52but it was good strength from Liam Henderson.
24:58Celtic are so good at that, pinging the ball in tight areas
25:01and finding little gaps.
25:03Injecting pace in with a quick passing.
25:07Getting the ball into Ida's feet,
25:09and he's seven, eight yards from goal.
25:13Good defending from Liam Henderson there.
25:17That was your touch.
25:20Does manage to get it away.
25:23Hatate steps in.
25:25Bernardo to Callum McGregor.
25:29Slightly challenged from Yeats now.
25:31Hatate again has the ball into the middle, blocked off.
25:34Falkirk can't get out right now,
25:36but they will have spells like this.
25:38It's inevitable.
25:39Of course, I mean, look,
25:41we've seen this season that Celtic have been
25:45so impressive.
25:46The speed of their play,
25:48territorially dominating the game,
25:50but still finding the ability to be able to stretch the opposition
25:53in tight areas.
25:56Of course they're going to be forced onto the back foot.
25:58Just got to show a little bit of patience in their game
26:01and recognising that.
26:03And know that they have that counter-attacking ability
26:07to be able to break at pace and hurt Celtic.
26:13Miller.
26:14Blocked off.
26:15That was excellent from Ralston.
26:18Hatate.
26:19Ida.
26:21And always rising over the top from Adam Ida.
26:29Just on his left foot.
26:30Yeah, just on his left foot.
26:31It just looked as if he was slightly off-balance
26:34as it was rolling across his body there.
26:49Donaldson.
26:51Now McKeever, and again they
26:53like that out-ball looking for
26:55argument against Valle.
27:01Held up now by the Spaniard.
27:05Last touch comes off
27:07of the Aggie man.
27:09Celtic get the goal kick.
27:11Well stuck to the task by Alec Valle.
27:13It really was an intriguing battle over there.
27:17You can see it's
27:19something that will continue to unfold
27:21as the game plays out.
27:23But certainly with Alec Valle
27:25doing very well in that moment there to
27:28close down Aggie man,
27:29not let the ball get into the box.
27:33Then there's another intriguing battle on this side.
27:36Ralston and Miller
27:38obviously know each other very well.
27:46Forward from Tate.
27:49Well it's proposed.
27:51Michael.
27:57Valle.
28:23Ralston will catch that.
28:24McKeever will get there first.
28:28Now Fornest.
28:31Gets away from Tate.
28:32Still James Fornest.
28:37Henderson asks for calm in the back.
28:39Miller gives it away.
28:41Trying to feed the pass into Dylan Tate.
28:48Tate's getting very tight to
28:49Cam McGregor.
28:51Well you've got to.
28:52You can't let him get away.
28:54You can't give space to
28:56the quality of Cam McGregor
28:58and expect that things are going to be OK.
29:01Referee judging that he was fouling him there though.
29:21Fornest and Ralston.
29:23Fornest and Ralston.
29:27Now trusty.
29:32Palma for Bernardo.
29:34The Celtic goalscorer.
29:35That's well won back by Dylan Tate.
29:37On loan from.
29:39Or he was on loan from Hibernian last season.
29:41That move's been made permanent.
29:43Aguiman's got a
29:45tough ass squad.
29:46And well Palma comes back.
29:48Makes a sliding challenge.
29:49Managed to knock it off Aguiman.
29:53Obviously the linesman was right on top of it.
29:55And Luis Palma was claiming for it straight away as well.
29:58Not too many complaints from Aguiman.
30:00I mean it takes a lot of
30:02fitness and energy
30:04to be able to continue to play that way
30:06when you're playing at the intensity that Celtic are.
30:09It's going to be a difficult afternoon for Falkirk
30:11to keep that up.
30:13But it's key that they do
30:14for as long as possible.
30:16Palma on the other end now.
30:17Comes back for
30:19Colin McGregor.
30:20Now the delayed flag
30:22goes off as McGregor clips the outside
30:24of the post.
30:34Marginally.
30:38The right call in the end.
30:50Who else wins it back for
30:52McGregor.
30:53And now it is open.
30:54But Zatate was just
30:56ahead of him.
30:57Palma playing it first time.
30:59He could see where the danger was.
31:03That's good play.
31:04Falkirk again.
31:05They've got nice balance in the middle of the park.
31:08They're able to build the game pretty well.
31:10But Aguiman's
31:11been a threat on the right.
31:13Just looking for a wee bit more from Calvin Miller
31:15over on this left.
31:16He's got real pace
31:18and he's powerful as well.
31:19He needs to really
31:21get those 1v1s
31:23and drive his team forward.
31:32Aguiman
31:33knocks it off.
31:34Valle.
31:35The Falkirk corner.
31:48Who else?
32:04Calvin Miller.
32:05Donald's in the target.
32:07Aguiman will
32:09look to keep it alive.
32:14Knocks it off for us for the throw.
32:19Van Yeet
32:21over the top and no takers.
32:38Zatate.
32:42Trusty for
32:44Valle.
32:49He's got it.
32:58Forrest-Nieple into
33:00Paulo Bernardo but he had three around him.
33:02Broke the way of Ralsson.
33:04Ida.
33:05And now Palma picks up.
33:10McGregor wants it on the edge.
33:14It's going to be back into the possession of Forrest
33:16after keelan adams got the brief touch on the ball
33:36the greger nice touch into hatate will break for
33:39bernardo ida making sure he got out of the way as bernardo was crashing
33:44through the bodies there just looked like for a split second he was
33:47going to be able to get through on goal he called on us and just clearing these
33:52lines
33:56and the difficulty for folk because that as the game wears on you know that
34:00celtic are dominating the ball it takes a lot of concentration to continue to
34:04be running around closing the gaps and then looking to
34:08spend a bit of time on the ball when you do get it
34:12ross's ball is overhead
34:18certainly up until this point john mcglenn will be
34:21really proud of his team they're in the game
34:25they'll be thinking can we get through at halftime
34:29getting to the changing room level
34:32but brendan rogers is there's not too much he's going to be disappointed with
34:35i mean they've played with a good intensity
34:38they've moved around they've walked into some dangerous areas
34:43you can't say that they've missed a barrel load of chances either
34:48that's probably the one thing you need to try and work nikki holgarth a little
34:51bit more
34:54so
35:10we'll have one eye on the halftime whistle
35:15a long way to go before that though
35:24so
35:41i think you can see already just a little bit of
35:44lethargy creeping in for volkert when they win this year
35:47ross mckeever not able to drive forward too quickly and offer it
35:54a pass there for his teammates almost looking at agumon thinking
35:57on you go alfie go and get us up the park
36:00managing to get a free kick which is a no bad thing for them just to get a
36:03little bit of a breather
36:08agumon on the chase again
36:24so
36:38that's good play you know you heard john mcglenn talking about the counter
36:41press from celtic it's exactly what folk have done you
36:44that ball goes up takes in then you see yeats and as
36:49well goes down a little bit easily there to be honest but you can
36:52see straight away they've got plenty of bodies forward
36:55there's been a turnover but they're not retreating they're going
36:58quickly to go and win that ball back
37:02and they've won themselves a free kick here
37:06spencer will leave it for calvin miller
37:13miller takes that should be gasper's michael's ball it is
37:19it was too high too much loft on the ball
37:24becomes an easy one for the the goalkeeper to be able to come out and
37:27collect
37:42trusty but that's read by adams miller looks for adams again trusty
37:48hoping to have the opportunity to make up for that stray pass he will be
37:53unable to prevent the corner though yeah he knows he needs to really wrap
37:59that into the white man it's a classic rotation from celtic
38:03with a throwback stepping in field just to open up
38:07the pass to the white man but for the center half to play they've got to play
38:11it with a lot of pace so that it takes a throwback out and
38:15they get that one v one plays it a little bit short
38:18just allowed keel and adams to step on it and win the turnover
38:24just don't spell this for falkirk another corner
38:29for miller to try to drive into that six yard box
38:33and ask questions of the celtic defense it's a good delivery
38:38and he was fouled it's either he or welsh that was impeded
38:45that was a far better ball though from calvin miller
38:48very dangerous steven welch just taking a knock there
38:52hopefully he'll be okay but it's far better a lot flatter in a dangerous area
38:58i've got gross i'm not sure there's too much of a fill there liam henderson
39:01looked like he was going up for it inevitably you're going to get a coming
39:06together of players and just looked as if steven welsh had
39:09clattered into the back of his teammate didn't look like there was any
39:12obvious shove from liam henderson
39:19it's falkirk now managing to box celtic in
39:22not allowed to take the throw in quickly from
39:27where dylan tate wanted to i'll tell you what though rory
39:30falkirk have put a lot of top flight teams to shame
39:33you know you look at how john mcglenn is set up here
39:36they're not parked the bus they've not just come here and expecting that
39:39they're going to lose they're coming here and making a fist
39:43of it they're coming here and being aggressive in their play they're being
39:47attacking in their play so let's just blow that myth out the
39:51water in terms of you've got to defend in numbers yes you
39:56do but that doesn't mean you can't attack
39:57and it doesn't mean you don't be aggressive look at the number of players
40:00falkirk have got forward here you defend from that front look win
40:05over win the turnover that's exactly what
40:07they've done here and miller with the shots
40:10as michael holds on the yeats have done brilliantly to win that back for
40:15falkirk high up the pitch just exactly what you were saying michael
40:31well halftime's approaching and falkirk will be feeling good about themselves
40:35they've they've navigated this first half pretty
40:39well here's ida though he's got forest ahead
40:43of him
40:46what can ademir come up with having to hold it up to buy some time
40:52for his teammates
40:55talk about you know the importance of defensive structure even when you're in
40:59possession and falkirk have that there's a quick turnover but they've got
41:02the bodies in place so even when they're getting countered on
41:06they've not got gaping holes that celtic can go and exploit
41:17two minutes left at the moment there will be
41:20the plan of one further additional minute at the end of the half
41:29so
41:32palma back to trusty
41:36lots of the ball but unable to penetrate that
41:40very well organized and disciplined falkirk rear guard when they don't have
41:45the ball but then when they do get it they're
41:48more than happy to stride forward in numbers
41:51yeah falkirk they're a unit as well and that ball was
41:55getting played back from celtic told don't us in the captain center half
41:59he's pushing his whole team forward he's squeezing the game up
42:04elida's done really well against adams there
42:08looked like he was chasing a lost cause and he has won a throwing out of it
42:17quickly taken
42:20tatty closed down by miller
42:26he's got tate ahead of him
42:29great play absolutely brilliant
42:36you see here the pressure from falkirk winning the turnover
42:39dropping to calvin miller problem there is he's so predominantly left-footed
42:43almost like the james forrest chance early on we are caught under his feet
42:47and he's trying to shift his body to create the angle
42:51it ends up being too direct at the goalkeeper
43:02and the another thing that's great to see with falkirk as we've spoken before
43:06about this this is a young scottish side it isn't a
43:10side that's littered with the you know foreign
43:14players young scottish talent
43:17fends off his man and at the back post
43:21take the lead and it's been yeats
43:25quite incredible at celtic park falkirk lead for the second time
43:34those supporters cannot believe it
43:39yes well look at this
43:45ball into the back from agumon phineas coming in and he makes no mistake he
43:49had the chance before but look at that just passes it with the head guides
43:54into that bottom corner casper spiegel has no chance
44:01forget going level at halftime joe mcglenn's men
44:05they're going to be going in two one up that's a great finish from phineas it
44:09really is
44:12well it's only a second goal for falkirk the 20 year old in his 97th
44:17appearance the other goal coming in the challenge cup as well so
44:23var will have a look at this
44:28that possible foul in the build-up or possible offside in fact but
44:35that has been dismissed the goal stands falkirk lead again and
44:42it's no less than they deserve well i mean look they've posed the
44:48threat right throughout the first half they've shown that
44:51celtic have dominated the ball but when falkirk have had it they've not given it
44:55away cheaply they've showed an attack and desire
45:00and uh what a game we've got on our hands really it really is an intriguing
45:04encounter this there's no more than they deserve that's the phrase isn't it
45:07caught him the wrong way around well the first team to score twice
45:13against celtic this season and it's championship
45:16falkirk ross mcgyver got the first that was cancelled out pretty quickly by
45:23paulo bernardo but finneas on the stroke of halftime
45:28puts falkirk 2-1 up and celtic the major favorites
45:35to claim this trophy have it all to do in the second half the falkirk fans
45:40absolutely loving it at celtic park because at the break it
45:44is celtic one falkirk two
46:01emin gregor and opens up for the
