00:00Later that year, the phrase Cool Britannia began popping up in the press
00:04after Newsweek pronounced London the coolest capital in the world.
00:08For the first time since the swinging 60s, British culture was hot.
00:12I don't think we all felt suddenly tremendously cool.
00:15I think we were all reading that we were supposed to be.
00:19But I do think that it coincided with Trainspotting.
00:22That was almost a unique fusion of film and music at that point in time,
00:28and that was exciting.
00:29I mean, Cool Britannia came out of the music business,
00:31and Polygram came out of the music business,
00:33which I'm sure that's not a coincidence.
00:35I think that they managed to capture what I think we're missing,
00:38which is the sort of independent spirit and passion
00:41that we have in the music business here.
00:43And it seems to me they kind of locked onto that
00:45and carried it through into movies.
00:47It was very cool.
00:48No one else had done it like that.
00:50No one could believe we would advertise in market films like that.
00:53It was just on that edge,
00:55and we were right there on the top of that wave.
