As crime rates continue to rise, are we doing enough to tackle the issue? We hit the streets to ask the public whether they feel the government is prioritising safety. What measures do people want to see in place to make our streets safer? And should more funding be directed towards fighting crime, even if it means other issues take a back seat?

00:00Well I think crime as far as I know it's gone down in some places I think it's
00:05very much dependent on where you are like obviously I think obviously we're
00:09in Birmingham gonna be a bigger crime rate a lot more of a population a lot
00:13more like people at risk I think like targeting high areas of crime or like
00:21you know the pipe obviously high areas would be probably more beneficial for
00:25everyone so I think if you want to track for the causes of crime a lot
00:29easier if you want to track to tackle the symptoms of crime as I say use
00:33technology as much as you can I would prefer fewer people in prison because I
00:39think that's using my taxes in the way I don't want and I don't want more
00:44prisons built I for example think the use of tags where people can be
00:48monitored is far more effective for example those university students who
00:51were who were put in prison for protesting against oil putting them in
00:56prison is ridiculous
