00:00A positive day at Kingston Park for Newcastle United Women, as they defeated
00:04Trefield United Women by two goals to nil. The action came mostly in the first
00:08half, and started early as Beth Lumsden acrobatically volleyed home after just
00:12six minutes to open the scoring. Then, just before half-time, Shania Hales
00:16won it too, when she headed home at the near post.
00:20After the game, Newcastle manager Becky Langley reflected on the win.
00:23Yeah, I think we always want to start games on the front foot, you know,
00:26excite our fans from the off, and I thought, yeah, we started really
00:31brightly, got quality in wide areas, especially today with, you know,
00:35Sian and Beth, both really good technical players, so, yeah, I felt like we
00:39hurt them on that left-hand side in the first 20 minutes of the game.
00:42There was moments of vulnerability, definitely, and I think they threatened
00:46and attacked in numbers in that first half, and there was a few transitional
00:49moments that, yeah, we had to manage well, but I thought Deanna and Claudia
00:55and Loyce Jewell, especially on that right-hand side, did really well.
