00:00Liverpool has become the world's first accelerator city for climate action
00:04under UN Climate Change's Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action Programme.
00:08The title comes in recognition of Liverpool's impressive commitment to
00:11innovation and smart regulations to rapidly decarbonise the live music and
00:16TV and film production sectors, both vital parts of the city's economy,
00:20following several years of developmental work by ACT 1.5, an artist-led research
00:25and action effort, and climate scientists from the Tyndall Centre for Climate
00:29Change Research. This work builds upon the groundbreaking project commissioned
00:33by the band Massive Attack and developed over the past four years. As an
00:37accelerator city, Liverpool, which has just announced huge plans for the future
00:41of its music sector, will expand on this use of policy, technology, infrastructure
00:47and transport practices to pilot and then embed decarbonisation methods into
00:52the fabric of the city, extending the scope of this work to include national
00:56film and television institutions.
