00:00And as the UN General Assembly is underway, we welcome special envoy Jorge Gestoso to
00:05bring us the latest updates and analysis of this first day of the general debate.
00:09Let's listen.
00:15First day here at the United Nations in New York about the general debate and as is tradition
00:21since the United Nations has been created in 1948, the president of Brazil is the one
00:27who speaks in the first time.
00:29This case was President Lula who put special emphasis in the need of the world to work
00:36in multilateralism and also he put pretty emphasis in how much the need to fight against
00:44hunger is absolutely necessary.
00:48He mentioned that 738 million people in the world is having hunger.
00:55In Brazil, since he took over the presidency, at least 30 million people went out of the
01:03poverty and the hunger.
01:06After that, President Joe Biden of the United States, also a tradition immediately after
01:10Brazil comes the U.S., put emphasis that in the two crises that for the U.S. are very
01:16important.
01:17We're talking about the conflict in Russia with Ukraine and also in the Middle East,
01:22especially in the Middle East.
01:24He mentioned that Russia failed in his conflict with Ukraine in the case of the Middle East.
01:32He mentioned that definitely they have to put an end to the war with Palestine because,
01:40according to his word, it's total responsibility of Hamas.
01:44And also he mentioned the situation in the south of Lebanon with Hezbollah, that they're
01:50going to say that they're going to fight hard.
01:54Put special emphasis in the area of intelligence, artificial intelligence that is said that
02:00is definitely a challenge for humanity.
02:04And after that, one of the speeches that was very important was the one of the president
02:09of Turkey.
02:10We're talking about President Erdogan, who was using very, very hard words against Israel,
02:19so much so that he mentions that I compared Benjamin Netanyahu with Hitler.
02:25And he said that as it did happen with the case of Hitler, it has to be an alliance of
02:32humanity to finish the situation in this attack of Israel regarding Palestine and the cases
02:42of genocide in Gaza.
