00:00From his $48 million Miami mansion to hell on earth where chaos reigns.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at the latest developments
00:08surrounding the arrest of Sean Diddy Combs following a grand jury indictment.
00:13Warning, some of the information contains distressing details.
00:16Combs has pled not guilty. Those were the only words he ordered in court yesterday.
00:21Hell on earth prison conditions.
00:23The music mogul who once traveled by private jet to all those mansions
00:27is now in a jail that is notorious for its bad living conditions.
00:32Following his arrest for racketeering, trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion,
00:36and transportation to engage in relations for money, rapper and music magnate Sean Diddy
00:41Combs is being held in Brooklyn's notorious Metropolitan Detention Center,
00:45commonly referred to as the MDC.
00:47I've had clients describe MDC as hell, as the worst conditions they've been in.
00:53The facility has long been infamous for its troubling conditions,
00:56which include rat infestations, rampant violence, and understaffing.
01:00And violence is not the only issue. Accusations of medical neglect,
01:04staffing shortages, smuggling of drugs, some allegedly facilitated by employees.
01:10There have also been instances of falling concrete,
01:13freezing temperatures, and quote, busted cells.
01:16Moreover, the prison has seen its share of inmate deaths,
01:19including incidents of prisoners taking their own lives.
01:22It is a horrible, horrible place.
01:25Despite multiple reports of human rights violations,
01:28the MDC remains a primary holding facility for high-risk detainees, housing up to 1,600 inmates,
01:35including the likes of cartel kingpins and other dangerous criminals.
01:39It's so out of control inside that four federal judges
01:42are reportedly refusing to send any more prisoners here.
01:46Diddy is hardly the first celebrity to be locked up at the MDC,
01:50as past high-profile detainees include Ghislaine Maxwell, R. Kelly,
01:54pharma bro Martin Shkreli, and NXIVM cult founder Keith Raniere, among others.
01:59Combs' lawyers have argued that the facility is not fit for pre-trial detention,
02:04specifically citing the recent string of detainee deaths.
02:07Now arguing for him to be moved to a prison in New Jersey in the lead-up to this trial,
02:12citing the prison's poor conditions, violence, and deaths.
02:15Denied bail twice.
02:17Look, he has limitless funds. He can hop on his plane. He can go anywhere in the world.
02:21The defense says, look, he gave up his passport. He came to New York willingly.
02:25Despite the poor conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center,
02:28the rap mogul will remain detained there.
02:31This after a judge denied his appeal for bail for a second time.
02:35So this is the second judge, his second attempt to get bail,
02:37and he offered all kinds of things that I haven't heard before and still got turned down.
02:41On September 18th, 2024, Judge Andrew Carter upheld the previous decision to deny bail,
02:48rejecting a $50 million bond secured by Combs' team.
02:52The judge cited the disgraced businessman's history of violence,
02:55substance use, and the potential for witness tampering.
02:59Prosecutors successfully argued that Combs is also a flight risk,
03:02and alleged that the victims identified so far
03:05represent only a small portion of a much larger operation.
03:09They also accused Combs of coercing victims through violence,
03:12such as, quote, slamming their heads into car windows,
03:16and claimed he has recently attempted to contact individuals connected to the case.
03:20The fear is that he would continue to do these things.
03:23They couldn't prove that he's not a danger to the community,
03:26and that he couldn't corrupt the case by trying to reach out to victims,
03:31something that the prosecutors have said he had tried to do multiple times.
03:35Combs' defense team had proposed strict conditions for his release,
03:39including oversight by a private security team and restrictions on female visitors.
03:44But the judge found these measures insufficient.
03:47Following the ruling, Combs' lawyer Mark Agnifilo expressed disappointment,
03:52saying, quote,
03:52things did not go our way today.
03:55However, he vowed to continue pushing for Diddy's release along with a speedy trial.
04:00Outside the New York City courthouse, his lawyer defiant.
04:03He believes he's innocent.
04:05I believe he's innocent.
04:07And we're going to fight this case with all of our might
04:09until we don't have to fight any longer.
04:11Desperate to speak to his children.
04:12How's your dad doing?
04:14How's your dad doing?
04:15Family members appeared somber as they arrived at federal court in Manhattan today.
04:19According to media outlet TMZ,
04:21Diddy is currently not in a good place mentally.
04:24It's said that Combs' primary concern is for his children.
04:27TMZ sources have purported that the dad of seven is deeply worried about his kid's well-being
04:32as he spends his time in a 10 by 8 foot cell,
04:36so much so that he is desperately wanting to speak with them.
04:39The outlet notes that the family is leaning on each other for support
04:42and turning to their faith for strength.
04:45While Combs' sons, Quincy, Justin, Christian and Chance are all legal adults,
04:49Love, Delilah and Jesse are still minors.
04:52And while it's clear that his family and friends can visit periodically,
04:56it's unclear how often Diddy can call them.
04:59Arrest footage leaked.
05:01New surveillance video shows Combs being taken into custody
05:04in a Manhattan hotel last week.
05:07Have we been given a glimpse at Diddy's last moment of freedom for the foreseeable future?
05:11In footage published by TMZ, a man, allegedly Sean Diddy Combs,
05:16can be seen in a black trench coat walking into the Park Hyatt New York lobby with an entourage.
05:21It's here that we see him quickly led away by two men.
05:25A short time later, he is seen being escorted by four men out of the hotel
05:29with his hands seemingly cuffed behind his back.
05:32This as his crew look on confused.
05:34The hotel's security camera recorded the incident on Monday, September 16th, 2024.
05:40Diddy had been staying at the hotel for over a week at this point.
05:43His lawyers have asserted that Combs specifically traveled to New York to,
05:47quote,
05:47surrender to authorities,
05:49thus making the arrest unnecessary and unexpected.
05:52Why doesn't the government want him to turn himself in?
05:54Because then they can't ask for detention.
05:56So they go and they arrest him.
05:58They arrest the guy who came to New York to turn himself in.
06:01In the moments and days before the arrest,
06:03footage shows Diddy enjoying his time in NYC,
06:06engaging and posing with pictures with fans on the streets.
06:10Alleged texts released.
06:12We're going to begin tonight with the alarming images now emerging of Sean Diddy Combs.
06:15The new video obtained exclusively by CNN.
06:19Four months after a 2016 surveillance video of Sean Diddy Combs
06:23allegedly assaulting his ex, Cassie Ventura, was made public,
06:26new details of the incident have emerged.
06:29This during Combs' second bail request hearing.
06:31The texts were revealed on September 18th while Diddy was in federal court
06:35to appeal his denial of pretrial release
06:38following his arrest and indictment earlier this week.
06:41Amid the proceedings, prosecutors read aloud alleged text messages
06:44between Diddy and Ventura.
06:46These were purportedly sent following the brutal altercation
06:49that saw Cassie violently attacked as she attempted to leave in an elevator.
06:53That shows Combs brutally beating his then girlfriend, singer Cassie,
06:57who prosecutors say was attempting to escape from one of Combs' so-called freak-offs,
07:02elaborated coerced sex parties that he often recorded.
07:06Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson, referencing the texts,
07:09claimed Diddy sent a message after the shocking assault
07:12where he pleaded with Cassie to call off the police.
07:14The texts reportedly read,
07:16quote,
07:16Call me. The cops are here.
07:18And, quote,
07:19I have six kids. I'm surrounded.
07:21The alleged victim responded in part,
07:24quote,
07:24You think it's okay to do what you've done.
07:26It's believed more messages will be brought forth during Combs' federal trial.
07:30Adding that the two had loved each other, in which the judge responded,
07:34What's love got to do with that?
07:35Calling the video disturbing.
07:37A minor legal victory.
07:39Why Sean Diddy Combs no longer has to pay $100 million in a sexual assault case.
07:44Amid his onslaught of troubles,
07:46Diddy has secured a minor legal victory during a motion hearing on September 18, 2024.
07:52It was here that one of his attorneys, David Fink,
07:54persuaded the judge to overturn a large judgment.
07:58The case, separate from the federal charges,
08:00involves inmate Derek Lee Cardello-Smith,
08:03who has accused Diddy of indecently assaulting him after a 1997 Detroit party.
08:07Alleged that he had encountered Combs while working at a Detroit-area restaurant in 1997.
08:12However, the judge ruled that Cardello-Smith
08:15failed to properly serve the lawsuit according to Michigan law.
08:18The judge also lifted a temporary restraining order
08:21that had prevented Diddy from selling assets to cover damages.
08:24The case will now move forward as a standard lawsuit,
08:27with Diddy expected to file for its dismissal.
08:30Regardless, it's believed Diddy will win the case due to the statute of limitations,
08:35as the alleged incident occurred over 26 years ago.

08:55Self-harm surveillance.
08:56It was revealed that upon his detention at New York's Metropolitan Detention Center,
09:01Sean Diddy Combs was placed on self-harm surveillance.
09:04However, Diddy's attorney Mark Agnifilo says that the watch directive issued by officials
09:09is nothing more than a routine measure for, quote, new high-profile inmates.
09:13It's routine. They're going to keep him outside of the general population
09:17to monitor his psychological health, as well as to protect him,
09:21because he's such a high-profile figure that he would be a target of violence.
09:25Furthermore, Agnifilo says that after spending six hours with the music magnate
09:29at the federal lockup, he can assert that Diddy is in no danger of harming himself at all.
09:34More so, Combs' defense attorney says that he was, quote,
09:37strong, healthy, confident, and focused on his defense.
09:41Agnifilo believes self-harm is not a concern for his client,
09:44and comparisons to the likes of accused trafficker Jeffrey Epstein should not be made.
09:49His team just released a statement saying that he is strong and he's looking forward to his defense.

10:02He can continue to appeal this and can appeal the bond, right? But you saw that with Ghislaine
10:07Maxwell. She continued to appeal and was not successful. Now two federal judges saying,
10:11you got to stay behind bars.
10:24You got to stay behind bars.
