00:14Welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.

00:17You've been playing the violin for 5 years.

00:19Yes.

00:20How did you learn?

00:21Initially, I started playing the violin when I was 8 years old.

00:27But from those first 2 years, starting from 8 until late 10 years old,

00:34I wasn't taking it seriously.

00:36And my lessons were inconsistent.

00:39Until I was 11 years old, that's when I started taking violin seriously.

00:45What are the genres that you usually play?

00:48Usually, in violin, any genre, I also play classical music.

00:56Mainly for competitions.

00:58But what I enjoy the most is the new music.

01:02Do you have a favorite song or your go-to?

01:08If I just want to enjoy playing the violin at home,

01:13my favorite is the Korean song, Only by Lee Hi.

01:18Why is that?

01:19Because I remember it.

01:21Oh, you remember it.

01:22I thought you were joking.

01:24Anyway, congratulations, Willie.

01:26You were selected for a competition.

01:29Tell us about it.

01:31You were in the finals, right?

01:33Yes.

01:34So, NAMSHA is the National Music Competition for Young Artists.

01:40So, that's the competition here.

01:43It's a national competition for us violinists.

01:48How was the experience?

01:51I'd say it was fun.

01:53It was nerve-wracking.

01:55But it was really fun.

01:57This was my first competition where I got to play the violin.

02:03I made new friends with the competitors.

02:07We had a very fun time there.

02:09And you also play at other events.

02:12Yes.

02:13Many events, like at Doha.

02:16Doha?

02:17Doha Qatar.

02:19They have an event called PID.

02:21Philippine Independence Day.

02:23I played there.

02:25And usually, the Philippine Embassy invited me to play at their events.
