Sustainable September allows locals to experiment with their fashion and trending products, all whilst shopping sustainably and contributing to a local charity. Eco fashion helps to reduce environmental impacts, protest workers who are producing garments and uphold animal welfare.

00:00We've got 16 shops across Somerset, North Somerset. And we've got a range of different
00:05stores going from super stores that are kind of 9,000 square feet, right down to clearance stores,
00:12which are kind of like 500 square feet, so they're quite small. And they all sell different products
00:17depending as to where they are. So we cater to the local need essentially. So we've got some
00:21really high end stores in Clevedon. And we've got our clearance stores, which is where our
00:27end of line products go that have been donated in. And essentially, we are responsible for
00:34generating income for the hospice. So the hospice receives about 20% of its income that it needs to
00:41keep running from the government. And everything else is down to retail and fundraising to raise
00:47to be able to continue to provide the services that patients need. So last year, we had a top
00:53income across the stores of 2.8 million. And because of that, we were able to really go out
01:00and help a significant amount of patients across the area that we serve, not just for the core
01:06services, but also we help to fund things like wellbeing, which is where we have patients and
01:12their families come in for complementary therapies and day services. So we're kind of like the cherry
01:19on top, but we're becoming a bit more of the cake just due to the lack of government funding that
01:23there currently is for hospices. And in terms of the shops then, what can people expect when
01:28visiting one of these charity shops? So the lovely thing that we tend to get fed back about our
01:34stores is that you wouldn't necessarily know that they're charity stores. We have some amazing items
01:40donated to us from the local community. We're really well supported, which is brilliant. We've
01:45got a large donation centre in Weston, which is purely there to accept donations over the
01:50doors from customers. That's then sorted and everything that's saleable then goes out across
01:56the estate. We also accept donations into all of our stores.
