It comes just a couple of weeks after the release of her third album Botanical Garden. She was also in the UK this time last year.

00:00Good afternoon, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Really lovely
00:07to speak again to Anna Earhart in Berlin and heading to the UK before long. And we've got
00:13a date coming up in Brighton at the Rossi Bar on October 12th. And this, Anna, is on
00:19the back of your new album, your third album. What's happening on that new album?
00:26The album is called Botanical Garden. And what's happening on it? It's hard to break
00:35down in a few phrases, but I guess it's a bunch of pretty random, lyrically random songs
00:42about mundane, daily things.
00:46But you're saying there's also a theme of comparing, the way we do compare and look
00:52at ratings, and that's not necessarily a good thing.
00:56No, I'm not saying it's not. Of course, there's like a theme, I would say, like, I had this
01:03single called 170, which was about me being taller than my friend. And I have this other
01:10song called Botanical Garden, which is the title track. And it's again about this topic,
01:16a bit of our metric culture, about rating everything, basically, right? In this case,
01:24a botanical garden and a person who goes there and isn't even pleased with the flowers or
01:31the parking situation and everything. So it's kind of all these kind of frustration moments.
01:37Do we look too much at ratings then, do you think? We do, don't we?
01:41Yeah, I guess so. Yeah, of course. I don't know. Like sometimes when I'm really like
01:50having a bad, bad Uber drive or something, I will also give a bad rating. But I guess
01:59usually it's unnecessary. Yeah.
02:01Absolutely. Now, you're really pleased to be back in the UK because you're saying you
02:05do get good audiences, that there is an appreciation for your music over here, isn't there?
02:10Yeah, I'm very happy to come again. A couple of the shows are already sold out and that's just
02:17a new feeling for me to know, oh, I'm going to go on tour and the room is going to be full and
02:22that feels really great. That's fantastic. How do you account for the fact that you're
02:26going down so well in the UK? I think I would blame the six music DJs for that.
02:35Not necessarily blame, but it's the exposure.
02:41Blame and that's, yeah, that's really fantastic. And I can see that's really the only promo I
02:49did at the beginning and it worked really well. And that's so nice. Yeah.
02:53Fantastic. Well, enjoy your latest tour to the UK and let's speak again this time next year when
02:59you do your third tour to the UK. Yeah.
03:01To speak to you again, Anna. Thank you.
03:03Let's do that. Bye.
