00:00In Bayumbong, Nueva Ecija, several kilos of bell peppers were discarded by the roadside
00:05following a similar incident with tomatoes. According to the Department of Agriculture,
00:10or DA, the produce was left to rot after a trader who had promised to buy it failed to show up.
00:17The DA plans to monitor and blacklist such traders who leave farmers in a bind.
00:22They are also working to process the affected products to add value.
00:27Additionally, the Sugar Regulatory Board, or SRA, has increased fees for imported
00:34sweeteners to support local farmers and boost the domestic sugar industry.
00:57We are hoping that these policies will be strengthened by our trading posts
01:03that were given assistance by the Department of Agriculture.
