00:00The Faculty of Agriculture of Gajah Mada University has created an innovative program,
00:08which is the formation of new local chickens,
00:11to meet the needs of the people,
00:14while supporting the national food security independently.
00:18The chickens that are targeted have a weight of 0.8 kg,
00:22can be farmed in less than 70 days,
00:25do not rot and withstand diseases,
00:28and have the characteristics of village chickens.
00:32New local chickens are produced from the breeding of male local chickens from Kalimantan,
00:37which has excellent growth characteristics,
00:41and female local chickens from West Java, which have high egg production.
00:48The head of the formation team of new local chickens, Prof. Diyah Maharani,
00:52introduced the results of his team's research in Seleman, the Special Region of Yogyakarta,
00:57to us on the evening of September 26th, saying,
01:00the presence of new local chickens is not to replace broiler chickens,
01:05but as a substitute for meat production as an alternative protein source for the people,
01:12which comes from local Indonesian products.
01:16Why are we so optimistic that the market will be good?
01:26Because there are groups of people who prefer chicken from local chickens.
01:35Why? Because of the taste.
01:37The taste is different from commercial chickens.
01:43After reaching the fourth generation,
01:45the chicken performance is expected to be stable and ready to be developed.
01:50However, at the moment, new local chickens are still in the second generation research stage
01:55and cannot be released to the market.
01:58From Seleman, the Special Region of Yogyakarta,
