A day out with friends took a tragic turn when a 14-year-old boy drowned in a 4-metre-deep lake near Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Friday (Sept 27).

00:00A 14-year-old boy drowned in a four-metre deep lake near Kota Kinabalu on Friday.
00:07The victim was among the 20 students from the SMK Tebobon Secondary School who visited
00:12the lake for a day trip.
00:14The Lintas Fire Station said as the students engaged in water activities, two of them began
00:19to struggle in the lake.
00:21It said one of them was rescued by his friends, who performed CPR while waiting for medical
00:26assistance, but the other boy could not be located.
00:30The fire station received a distress call at 12.44pm and dispatched rescuers to the
00:35scene.
00:36They found the victim's body at 2.48pm, about three metres underwater.
00:41The body was taken to a nearby hospital for post-mortem.
