00:00:00Previously...
00:00:03Just testing out the toilets.
00:00:04This week, we are doing the mezzanine en suite, our first room upstairs.
00:00:09I want to do like a striped shower, so the stripes kind of come down the wall, go on
00:00:13the bench.
00:00:14That's cool, right?
00:00:15Yeah.
00:00:16After seven long weeks, some teams are lacking motivation.
00:00:20I have design block.
00:00:21I'm feeling really uninspired and I have no idea what to do.
00:00:25Kylie and Brad had Tyler troubles.
00:00:29We've had a toilet have a baby, a toilet have a car accident, a toilet not show up.
00:00:38And videos were uncovered that changed the game.
00:00:40It's had the opportunity to be upfront and be transparent, but they didn't do that.
00:00:45None of us have ever tried to mislead or tell sort of lies about what we do.
00:00:50They've lied.
00:00:51They've lied.
00:00:52It's sneaky.
00:00:53Tonight...
00:00:54Four minutes.
00:00:55Four minutes.
00:00:56Our blockheads race to the finish line.
00:00:58Come on, quick.
00:00:59We don't need the pressure.
00:01:00Just come when it's done.
00:01:01Sibling rivalry takes hold.
00:01:02She doesn't know how to carry a ladder.
00:01:05Charlotte, that's not fair.
00:01:06I feel so incapable.
00:01:07Charlotte, without me, there is no room.
00:01:08So, would you like to win?
00:01:09And when the judges arrive...
00:01:10Goal.
00:01:11It's a book.
00:01:12It's hot.
00:01:13It looks awesome.
00:01:14This is in a league of its own.
00:01:15It's a game.
00:01:16It's a game.
00:01:17It's a game.
00:01:18It's a game.
00:01:19It's a game.
00:01:20It's a game.
00:01:21It's a game.
00:01:22It's a game.
00:01:23It's a game.
00:01:24It's a game.
00:01:26Marty's feedback packs a punch.
00:01:27I absolutely hate it.
00:01:32Oh.
00:01:45You look so fresh.
00:01:46You're beautiful.
00:01:47You always do.
00:01:51Morning, Brad.
00:01:52How are you?
00:01:53Oh.
00:01:58Fine.
00:01:59Saturday, we have everything to do in this room.
00:02:08Everything.
00:02:09With just over 24 hours until reveal, House 4 need to transform their guest en-suite from
00:02:15this to this.
00:02:18They are the only team that will need to push hard today to bring their designs to life.
00:02:24Morning, boys.
00:02:25Good morning.
00:02:26Good morning.
00:02:27We have tiling to finish.
00:02:28We have a vanity and a stone top to install.
00:02:31And it's all just a little bit of history repeated.
00:02:35We have sanding, painting.
00:02:37We have shopping.
00:02:39The newspapers shout a new style is here.
00:02:42So we've got to grout, fit the basin, get the mirror hung on the wall.
00:02:47Hi, everybody.
00:02:48I had seven hours sleep.
00:02:51I'm a new woman.
00:02:53The glass shower screen has to be put in.
00:02:55The plumber and lekkies will have to get their feet off.
00:02:58No time to waste until we get a message from Mr. Scotty himself saying...
00:03:04Morning, Blockheads.
00:03:05There's no better way to start your day than with some exercise.
00:03:08Put on your active wear, jump in your Ford, meet us at the end of Gat Road.
00:03:12In the Ford, we have to leave.
00:03:14How far away is it?
00:03:15Oh, dear.
00:03:16Well, I don't know if I have any clean active wear.
00:03:19We were going to be leaving to go to another challenge.
00:03:23I was like, what?
00:03:24It's Saturday.
00:03:25We're delivering a bathroom tomorrow.
00:03:29Guys.
00:03:30Mims.
00:03:32Mimi.
00:03:33We have a challenge.
00:03:37No, you're ****ing me.
00:03:38I'm not doing anything.
00:03:40We can't go anywhere.
00:03:44Do you know we've got a challenge?
00:03:46No.
00:03:47Yeah, we do.
00:03:48No, we don't.
00:03:49Yeah.
00:03:50You're joking.
00:03:51No, I'm not.
00:03:52On a Saturday.
00:03:53Come on.
00:03:54That's not fair.
00:03:55We'll be fine.
00:03:56Yeah.
00:03:57We'll win the challenge and we'll win the room.
00:03:58Can you not be so cocky?
00:03:59It's weird.
00:04:00Just be quiet.
00:04:01We'll try and let him know real softly.
00:04:06Hayden!
00:04:08Hayden!
00:04:11Hayden!
00:04:12What?
00:04:13We've got a challenge, mate.
00:04:16It's no surprise that Hayden is struggling to get out of bed this morning.
00:04:20Last night, the block was buzzing.
00:04:22I have not been through what we've been through.
00:04:26Videos of Maddie and Charlotte were discovered by the rest of the teams
00:04:29who were shocked to learn the extent of the sisters' renovating experience.
00:04:33Starting out with an ambitious full reno they sold for a tidy profit,
00:04:37this entrepreneurial duo is now transforming a house
00:04:40into a safe and comfortable home ready for future tenants.
00:04:44None of it adds up.
00:04:45So straight away, them hiding it is just damaging their character.
00:04:48It's just dumb.
00:04:49They had the opportunity.
00:04:51To be up front.
00:04:52To be up front and be transparent, but they didn't do that.
00:04:55It just felt a bit deceitful.
00:04:57It's sneaky.
00:05:01Seasoned renovate, as it calls them.
00:05:03Why?
00:05:04Just the way that they're cagey about it makes you go like,
00:05:06why?
00:05:07What are you playing at?
00:05:09They said they were just accountants.
00:05:11Yeah.
00:05:12They're in renovation.
00:05:13Yep.
00:05:15What do you guys do for work?
00:05:17We both have business degrees and so we've just done a whole different range.
00:05:20Mortgage broking, accounting, all that kind of random stuff.
00:05:24You like the idea of flying under the radar?
00:05:26Yeah.
00:05:27Then you don't have the target on your back.
00:05:28I think it also covers that part because I'm like,
00:05:30if we flop then well, oh well.
00:05:32We can just tell them what else we do.
00:05:34We work in finance.
00:05:35Yeah.
00:05:37We do.
00:05:38We just also have another huge hobby on the side.
00:05:41Don't look me up on social media.
00:05:43Having grown up watching the block,
00:05:45the girls are aware that withholding information
00:05:47has been a well-established strategy over the past 20 seasons
00:05:51to get an edge on the competition.
00:05:54We don't know what they're doing.
00:05:55They don't know what we're doing.
00:05:57Our evil plan has worked.
00:05:59So we're asking if you guys would mind if we worked forward.
00:06:03How do you get a unanimous yes?
00:06:05Don't tell them all the facts.
00:06:07Don't tell them everything.
00:06:08Nobody knows.
00:06:09I'm a tradesperson and also a qualified tiler.
00:06:12I am a former tiler that haven't told anybody.
00:06:14Everyone else is kind of trying to call their tiler in.
00:06:16I can be in there at 2, 3 in the morning,
00:06:18whatever, getting away with it.
00:06:21We got a real estate agent.
00:06:23Yeah, we spoke to a real estate prior to coming on the show.
00:06:26Are you going to tell your fellow neighbours about that?
00:06:29Well, we're like, you know, it's like a need-to-know basis.
00:06:34But it seems what's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander.
00:06:38I don't know why you'd hide it.
00:06:40There's no need to hide anything.
00:06:42It's just, yeah, it's a weird way to go about it.
00:06:46My thing has always been, okay, you can do whatever you want.
00:06:49Everyone has advantages here, but like, don't lie to my face.
00:06:53Hang on a minute, Mimi.
00:06:55I seem to recall the girls actually did tell you a bit about their experience
00:06:59when they first arrived two weeks ago.
00:07:02There's been a rumour flying around that you guys flip houses.
00:07:06Lol.
00:07:08We have multiple jobs, but we do have investment properties.
00:07:12What?
00:07:13That we flip.
00:07:15At your age?
00:07:16Yeah, we started saving when we were really little.
00:07:18Our dad's a mortgage broker, and our parents have always just been
00:07:21super, like, encouraged us to save.
00:07:23So the properties that we're flipping are, like, going for $800,000.
00:07:27I bought a kitchen off Facebook Marketplace,
00:07:29dismantled it from someone else's kitchen, and put it into our property.
00:07:34We don't really see it as a huge advantage,
00:07:37because it's completely different to this.
00:07:39Like, this feels very overwhelming to us still.
00:07:41Yeah, but I think that that's awesome.
00:07:43We're, like, so happy.
00:07:44If people, like, want to ask questions and stuff,
00:07:46we're so happy to, like, answer them.
00:07:48And so I kind of was like, whatever, let it go.
00:07:50That's fine.
00:07:51And they've told me now.
00:07:53But clearly it wasn't fine, and she didn't let it go.
00:07:56And in fact, Mimi is now at the eye of this storm.
00:08:00Where did the video come from?
00:08:01Mimi sent the video to Courtney.
00:08:05I did not find this video.
00:08:07The video was shown to me.
00:08:11How did you find it?
00:08:13Secret.
00:08:14Secrets, girls.
00:08:15It's a secret.
00:08:16Our little investigators were out there looking.
00:08:19Our outside source.
00:08:20Who is your outside source?
00:08:21It was the AFP.
00:08:22Yeah.
00:08:23We hired people to look, because we knew that there was something.
00:08:27Last week was talking with Kylie.
00:08:31When I met her and Hayden, they were out doing some shopping.
00:08:34And Kylie said to me, I need you to do some digging.
00:08:37A bit sus on these new girls.
00:08:40And I said, oh, all right.
00:08:42Did you ask Chelsea to do anything for you?
00:08:45Sure.
00:08:46Probably.
00:08:47I don't know.
00:08:48I don't remember.
00:08:50You don't remember?
00:08:53You don't remember?
00:09:00So, I did.
00:09:02And I found a video.
00:09:04We're just going to keep squeezing until it turns grey.
00:09:06And then it's ready to use.
00:09:08I get shown this video, and it's them doing things that I don't know how to do.
00:09:12Why couldn't you have told me this information?
00:09:16What's the benefit of holding back?
00:09:19I don't like that.
00:09:23So, I was up at the car, and Maddie and Charlotte came past.
00:09:26And I just took the opportunity to ask them exactly what was on my mind.
00:09:30I was in bed, and they said we're doing a marathon.
00:09:32Were you in bed still?
00:09:33What time did you stay in bed till?
00:09:34I don't know.
00:09:35Eight o'clock?
00:09:36Maybe.
00:09:37I was watching videos of you girls last night.
00:09:39A media outlet did some digging and found that we have done an ad with Seeker Australia.
00:09:49It's all private.
00:09:50I don't know how they found that.
00:09:51On YouTube?
00:09:52How do they put two and two together?
00:09:54Are you their ambassadors?
00:09:56No.
00:09:57Yeah, I think they danced around it a little bit.
00:09:59And were a bit embarrassed and tried to explain to me this.
00:10:01And they're not affiliated with any brands in any way.
00:10:03And they were just sort of brought in for no good reason.
00:10:07So, I didn't explain much at all.
00:10:09Yeah.
00:10:10Yeah, no, that was pretty funny.
00:10:11I can't believe they found that.
00:10:12I'm like, ew, I don't want people to see that.
00:10:13Anyway, it doesn't matter.
00:10:14Everything's going to come out.
00:10:15I know.
00:10:16I honestly can't read Hayden.
00:10:18I don't know if he wants to know what we do, like, more in detail.
00:10:21The whole situation kind of confuses me.
00:10:23Okay, we'll see you soon.
00:10:24See you there.
00:10:25Toodles.
00:10:26Toodles.
00:10:27I haven't watched any videos of Hayden or Rikki.
00:10:42Wow, like, they'd have to look up to find that stuff.
00:10:47I don't understand that.
00:10:48I feel like...
00:10:49It's a bit renal.
00:10:50Yeah.
00:10:51I'd like to know something.
00:10:52Like, I'm happy to tell you, but just ask.
00:10:56So, what do we do about the girls' situation?
00:10:58F***ing horrible.
00:10:59I'd have spoke to them.
00:11:00I'd have said, are you the ambassador for Sika?
00:11:03They're like, oh, they played it off like it was nothing.
00:11:05Like, oh, this guy just asked us to do it.
00:11:07It was like, I'm so embarrassed that those videos are going around.
00:11:11I'm like, they're on YouTube.
00:11:14I don't even know who they are.
00:11:15Let alone all of a sudden they're brand ambassadors.
00:11:18And they're doing these ads.
00:11:19And then how many are there of these?
00:11:23They've lied about what background they've got.
00:11:25The experience they've got.
00:11:26And who knows what else?
00:11:45We love challenges, so we were pumped up.
00:11:48It's a good chance to get off the block and have a bit of fun.
00:11:50And do something a bit different.
00:11:52And today's challenge will take place right beside
00:11:55Phillip Island's world famous racetrack.
00:11:57Morning.
00:11:58G'day, g'day.
00:11:59Hello, hello.
00:12:00Morning.
00:12:02I'm sure you clocked our two guns warming up on the Dream Court.
00:12:05Maddie Roche and Steph Reed from the Opals,
00:12:08Australia's women's basketball team.
00:12:11Girls, great to have you with us.
00:12:13Thanks for having us.
00:12:14Thanks for helping us out.
00:12:15Now, Maddie, you won the WNBL championship this year.
00:12:18That must be very exciting for you.
00:12:20Yeah, it definitely was.
00:12:21It was good fun.
00:12:22Pretty special.
00:12:23And Steph, you debuted for the Opals as well.
00:12:25It was definitely an honour.
00:12:27And to help us qualify for the Olympics was pretty special.
00:12:29Today's challenge, gang, is a basketball game thanks to Ford.
00:12:33So you'll be playing in games of four.
00:12:35Each game will go for four minutes.
00:12:37And the two teams that win the most games during the round,
00:12:41Robin, will then have a final Ford shootout for $5,000 cash.
00:12:49We were jacked.
00:12:50We knew exactly what the challenge was.
00:12:52We weren't going to leave anything in the tank for this one.
00:13:02It was pretty crazy.
00:13:11Um, and it was very, very clear from the beginning
00:13:14that Hayden and Rikki are very, very good.
00:13:17Hayden, Hayden, Hayden!
00:13:19Oh, nice pass.
00:13:24And they did barge over a couple of people.
00:13:271, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
00:13:30Oh, no!
00:13:34Are you okay?
00:13:35Yeah, I'm fine.
00:13:36And a change for the Amdermans.
00:13:389-1-1, it's emergency.
00:13:40You've got to believe that.
00:13:42It was five counter lines, so everyone was going hard.
00:13:51I did not enjoy it at all.
00:14:01After a chaotic round, Robin,
00:14:03the two teams going head-to-head in the final...
00:14:05Oh, good pass.
00:14:06..are Maddie and Charlotte from House 1
00:14:08and Rikki and Hayden from House 3,
00:14:10making this their second showdown this morning.
00:14:13The first team to score three baskets in a shootout
00:14:16will take home the $5,000 prize.
00:14:19Okay, let's go.
00:14:22Oh!
00:14:25Here we go.
00:14:30One for the boy.
00:14:32Oh!
00:14:34Yes, Charlotte!
00:14:37Come on, Charlotte.
00:14:42Knock it back.
00:14:45Oh!
00:14:47This is for the win.
00:14:48How many have I got? How many have I got?
00:14:50Class closed.
00:14:51Oh!
00:15:01Oh!
00:15:03Good game.
00:15:04It's probably a good game.
00:15:05Very good.
00:15:06Yeah, boys.
00:15:08Yeah, boys.
00:15:09Challenge beasts.
00:15:10$5,000 cash award.
00:15:12This will actually get us out of the red.
00:15:14The boys won, which, rightly so...
00:15:16Devastated.
00:15:17..because they were actually the best
00:15:19and they were bound to win.
00:15:21They did a great job.
00:15:22You're a good shooter.
00:15:27With the reveal of their guest on switch now just hours away,
00:15:30the Blockheads all head back to site
00:15:32and get straight back into it.
00:15:36We get back from the challenge
00:15:38and we kind of see our room coming together.
00:15:41I've just got to finish sanding this
00:15:43for our professional painter Mimi
00:15:45to come in and finish the job off.
00:15:48Painting, cleaning, styling.
00:15:51And, you know, we're like, wow,
00:15:53I think we can actually finish early tonight.
00:16:05The boys are under control.
00:16:07The bathroom's going well.
00:16:09We're definitely going to finish.
00:16:11We're probably not going to finish the en suite
00:16:13as well as the bathroom this week,
00:16:15but, you know, we've still made really good progress
00:16:17in our guest en suite.
00:16:19But when it comes to styling and shoes,
00:16:21we wanted to have as many options as we could.
00:16:23Hello again.
00:16:24How are you?
00:16:25So it was wise of me to head out
00:16:27and do the final shopping before the shops close.
00:16:29What are you looking for?
00:16:31Oh, just everything silk.
00:16:33This is quite nice.
00:16:34Oh, yeah, it's quite nice.
00:16:36Yeah.
00:16:37Our three are making bold moves in their guest en suite,
00:16:40which will feature pops of custard and mustard throughout.
00:16:44Darren's advice was to stop being vanilla.
00:16:46And to have a bit of a crack with some colours.
00:16:48So we've got to take a risk here
00:16:50if we're going to be able to compete for a win.
00:16:52There you are.
00:16:53Beautiful.
00:16:54Awesome.
00:16:55I'll see you soon, man.
00:16:56Thanks again, dude.
00:16:59It's our first bathroom on the block.
00:17:02This one's our first official full week
00:17:04with, like, our own design.
00:17:06And so there is obviously a little bit of pressure there.
00:17:08We've never been judged on a bathroom,
00:17:10so we don't even know what they're looking for this season.
00:17:12The other contestants have.
00:17:15This is their third round of feedback about bathrooms.
00:17:18So you think by now they would have theirs.
00:17:20Perfect.
00:17:22OK, I won't be long.
00:17:24If you need anything, call me.
00:17:26Wanting to do their best to impress the judges,
00:17:28Maddie heads out to pick up some more styling items.
00:17:32Oh, gosh.
00:17:33How am I going to decide?
00:17:34They're all so pretty.
00:17:35My strategy when shopping is I don't really know
00:17:37how this room is going to pull together at the last minute,
00:17:39so I would rather have more options than not.
00:17:43Yeah, that's pretty.
00:17:45If I see something that I like
00:17:47and I think I could possibly make it work,
00:17:49I'll just buy it.
00:17:50Of course I have to have four options.
00:17:52That's how I shop.
00:17:54We just need to hurry up.
00:17:56Time is not our friend.
00:18:00On Saturday, we can't have power tools after 3.30.
00:18:03So I was slightly stressing out
00:18:05because we're creeping up to 3.30,
00:18:07and we had a lot of work left to do with power tools.
00:18:09What have we got, 40 minutes?
00:18:12Oh, cool.
00:18:13Let's keep working, come on.
00:18:15Oh, where are we?
00:18:16You're the one coming in.
00:18:1740 minutes.
00:18:18Who the hell are you?
00:18:20I called Mel and was like,
00:18:21I need you to come home to help move things along.
00:18:24Hello?
00:18:25Hey, how far away are you?
00:18:27Uh, well, I can come back if you need.
00:18:31Well, I just need you to send the roof, the ceiling.
00:18:34What are you doing?
00:18:35Helping, doesn't matter what I'm doing.
00:18:37Yeah, I know, but I've got to get stuff,
00:18:39so if it's urgent, I can come back.
00:18:41What are you getting?
00:18:42I'm a bit confused.
00:18:43I'm getting starling.
00:18:45Okay, well, it's kind of stressful here,
00:18:47and we're on a time crunch.
00:18:49Okay, well, I'll get back as soon as possible,
00:18:51but I just...
00:18:52Someone's not very happy.
00:18:54I just don't understand what she's doing.
00:18:57Oh, still shopping.
00:18:59I don't think she sees the value as much in shopping,
00:19:01so I think she thinks I'm just out here having a great time,
00:19:04but I also need to have everything that I need for the room.
00:19:08Otherwise, it's going to look unfinished.
00:19:11Make way for my olive tree.
00:19:14I took the whole tree.
00:19:16The bathroom, it's coming together really well.
00:19:18It's a credit to our builders,
00:19:20and to the tilers in particular.
00:19:22We're in a good spot.
00:19:24We're in a good spot.
00:19:26Last week, I was doing this at, like, 4 a.m.
00:19:28Yeah, exactly.
00:19:29No sleep, so, I mean...
00:19:30You look a lot scarier.
00:19:31I think I need a hair tie, too.
00:19:33Actually, do you have a hair tie?
00:19:35In house four, after only locking in a tiler yesterday,
00:19:38Carly and Brad have some catching up to do.
00:19:41I never expected to excel this week.
00:19:43Like, we just want to produce a room.
00:19:46A whole day and a half we're behind,
00:19:48but our tiler seems to be really on to it and very precise.
00:19:53Johnny said to us that he was going to bring a third tradie,
00:19:56which we were like, whatever needs to happen,
00:19:58we're okay with, because we also want to present a room.
00:20:02Adding to the pressure,
00:20:03the 3.30 deadline for using power tools is looming,
00:20:06and they still haven't finished cutting their tiles.
00:20:09Nice.
00:20:11Dan is always there when we're working right up to tools down.
00:20:15Every time.
00:20:17Keep cutting.
00:20:21In house five, Christian and Mumi are also racing to score.
00:20:25We're in a good spot.
00:20:27We're in a good spot.
00:20:29We're in a good spot.
00:20:31They're racing to straighten up their shaving cabinet
00:20:33while they can still use power tools.
00:20:35A tiny bit more.
00:20:37Oh, hold it there.
00:20:41It's going to be loud.
00:20:43Ah!
00:20:45Four minutes.
00:20:49Do you need to do anything else before it cools down?
00:20:51Yeah, that's why I'm doing this, because it's loud.
00:20:53What about the toilet roll?
00:20:55Literally.
00:20:57Three and a half.
00:21:01We don't need the pressure. Just come when it's done.
00:21:03You got this.
00:21:09Three minutes.
00:21:11What? Just one hole?
00:21:13It's two holes.
00:21:15Oh, **** me.
00:21:17What?
00:21:19One minute.
00:21:21Good one.
00:21:23All right.
00:21:25Whoo!
00:21:27Good call, though.
00:21:29We missed that.
00:21:31That's it.
00:21:33Hey!
00:21:35Hey!
00:21:37Not good.
00:21:39You're guilty.
00:21:41Get the ute.
00:21:43Ute's there. Let's go.
00:21:45Offside.
00:21:47Are you going to finish?
00:21:50We'll give it a go.
00:21:52Coming up...
00:21:54Oh, wow.
00:21:56That's a lot.
00:21:58That's a hell of a lot.
00:22:00The guest en-suites leave the judges divided.
00:22:02There's a lot of wins here for me.
00:22:04They're on the money here.
00:22:06They have something special.
00:22:08Yeah, look, for me, it just feels a bit off.
00:22:10I'm not picking up what they're putting down.
00:22:12I think that's a mistake.
00:22:14It's late Saturday afternoon,
00:22:16and with guest en-suites being delivered
00:22:18tomorrow morning,
00:22:20Charlotte is frustrated that Maddie
00:22:22has spent most of the day out shopping.
00:22:24Where is she now?
00:22:26I'm stressing out.
00:22:28I told her,
00:22:30can we try next week,
00:22:32not go shopping on Saturday,
00:22:34because we have a lot of people
00:22:36in our house on Saturday
00:22:38that we need help with.
00:22:40Let me finish.
00:22:42Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
00:22:44I'll even let you have Friday.
00:22:46Charlotte, that's not fair.
00:22:48Hello.
00:22:50What are you doing?
00:22:52Sanding?
00:22:54I was like, can you go and sand
00:22:56this part of the ceiling?
00:22:58I've done the rest.
00:23:00And she was like,
00:23:02how am I going to reach the ceiling?
00:23:04And I said, get a ladder.
00:23:06Would you like to jump to the ceiling?
00:23:08What is your problem?
00:23:11Why do you expect me to put another ladder in here?
00:23:13I'm going to leave that up to you.
00:23:15Charlotte, what is your problem?
00:23:17She doesn't know how to carry a ladder.
00:23:19Charlotte, that's not fair.
00:23:21Let me speak.
00:23:23I'll ruin your makeup.
00:23:25She said,
00:23:27I can't carry the ladder.
00:23:29Can you tell her to shut up?
00:23:31I'm telling you there's an urgency
00:23:33to get it done.
00:23:35You need to help me by moving the ladder.
00:23:37It's right here.
00:23:39I just need you to show initiative
00:23:41and not ask silly questions
00:23:43about how do I sand a ceiling.
00:23:45Maybe get a ladder.
00:23:47You're not getting the sense of urgency.
00:23:49We have all night.
00:23:51We'll be fine.
00:23:53The corker is coming.
00:23:55That was so hard to get that past.
00:23:57Stop being so rude.
00:23:59Then she told us that we did nothing.
00:24:01I did not say that.
00:24:03You're incapable of walking a ladder past me.
00:24:05Why can't you do anything on your own?
00:24:07I have a bathroom on my own.
00:24:09Charlotte, without me,
00:24:11there is no room.
00:24:13If you're having a go at me
00:24:15for going out styling,
00:24:17would you like to win?
00:24:19We can deliver a room
00:24:21with no tiles and no styling.
00:24:23I don't think you understand
00:24:25the weight of what I'm carrying.
00:24:27You're telling me not to go shopping,
00:24:29but I have to.
00:24:31Just on a Saturday.
00:24:33You can go shopping the other five days of the week.
00:24:36We can swap.
00:24:38Okay, fine.
00:24:40You would hate that.
00:24:42I would come back and she'd be like,
00:24:44oh my gosh, Charlotte, what did you get?
00:25:00Grant hasn't slept.
00:25:02Granny's fine.
00:25:04Why are you doing it?
00:25:08You need to stay up all night.
00:25:10You're a hard worker.
00:25:14Grant, I'm sorry.
00:25:16I just f***ed up your paint.
00:25:18Are you for real?
00:25:20Sorry.
00:25:22For f***s sake, call it.
00:25:24I didn't do it on purpose.
00:25:26I've been up all f***ing night.
00:25:28Seriously?
00:25:30You're going to throw a paintbrush?
00:25:32I've been scattered.
00:25:34I've had no sleep.
00:25:36I've just scratched off all the paint.
00:25:38I was like, oh god.
00:25:40I was scared for my life.
00:25:42Carry one in at a time maybe.
00:25:44That'll help.
00:25:46Sorry for arguing with you this morning.
00:25:48I think it was the lack of sleep
00:25:50which got in the way.
00:25:56Morning.
00:25:58Are you going to go inside?
00:26:01We were going this morning.
00:26:03Did you guys sleep last night?
00:26:05Nope. No sleep.
00:26:09I didn't think it was going to be done this morning
00:26:11but now I guess anything's possible.
00:26:13Here we are.
00:26:15Let's make it happen.
00:26:17We're pretty proud of where we're at.
00:26:19A few things that hopefully
00:26:21the judges can see past.
00:26:27Don't lean on the nude coasting.
00:26:29Don't touch the basin.
00:26:31Don't try the toilet.
00:26:33Isn't she sexy?
00:26:35But we got way further
00:26:37than we ever and we actually thought
00:26:39we were going to present just waterproofing.
00:26:43Morning ladies.
00:26:45How are we?
00:26:47Very tired.
00:26:49We are on track.
00:26:51We got three hours sleep
00:26:53and we really just had to do some
00:26:55caulking, some cleaning,
00:26:57a few little bits here and there
00:26:59which actually always take longer
00:27:01than you expect.
00:27:03Thanks.
00:27:07How are you this morning, Hank?
00:27:09Good.
00:27:11Had some sleep last night.
00:27:13There's the wind.
00:27:15Just need to clean this up and we're good.
00:27:17Do you like your bathroom?
00:27:19Yeah, we like it.
00:27:21We're just not sure if it's got enough wow factor.
00:27:23I think just after last week's roasting
00:27:26when we thought we'd presented a pretty good kitchen.
00:27:28Yeah, it's definitely
00:27:30shot our confidence and our belief
00:27:32of whether we can win a room or not for sure.
00:27:34Yeah.
00:27:42Can you grab me
00:27:44that other stuff please?
00:27:46This is the 500th time I've mopped this floor
00:27:48so let's hope it stays clean.
00:27:52Look at that. Touch up complete.
00:27:56One last tile.
00:28:04Come on.
00:28:08Almost there.
00:28:12Quick, we only got 10 seconds.
00:28:18Tools down.
00:28:20Wow!
00:28:22This is nice.
00:28:24Yay!
00:28:26Oh, Jesus.
00:28:28I was not expecting it.
00:28:30I'm very happy. I think it's a beautiful bathroom.
00:28:32I'm in the middle.
00:28:34I'm still a bit uninspired by it.
00:28:36But I would love a 10.
00:28:38So you don't like it but now you're going to give it a 10.
00:28:40Yeah.
00:28:42Have a week, brother.
00:28:44Nice work, mate. Nicely done.
00:28:46We're going down to Aldi to prepare for tonight's
00:28:48roasting.
00:28:50Even though we've done probably our best bathroom
00:28:52or our best finish yet,
00:28:54we're still prepared for a roasting otherwise.
00:28:58Tools down.
00:29:00I'm proud of you, baby.
00:29:02There's things that we didn't finish.
00:29:04Yeah, there's heaps of caulking.
00:29:06But I love how it's come together.
00:29:08Yeah, I'm happy with how it's come out.
00:29:10It looks really good.
00:29:13You all right?
00:29:15I'm broken.
00:29:17I feel broken.
00:29:19We volunteered to do this.
00:29:21We gave up jobs that pay us money.
00:29:33Hello.
00:29:35Frankie.
00:29:37Frankie.
00:29:41He's getting in the way. It's all right.
00:29:43It's all right.
00:29:45Hello, guys.
00:29:49Settle down, everybody.
00:29:51Come on.
00:29:55Good girl. Good evening, everybody.
00:29:57Good evening.
00:29:59What have we got there, boys?
00:30:01Some roast potatoes, mate.
00:30:03We know you can't have a good Sunday night roast
00:30:05without some good veg.
00:30:07So before you roast us,
00:30:09we've got the veg, we've got the meat here.
00:30:11You've got the veg. You're ready to go.
00:30:13The good news is you've done your last bathroom.
00:30:15That is good news.
00:30:21Easily the hardest room in your house to do
00:30:23and they're all done.
00:30:25I bet you when you first came into this
00:30:27competition, you thought,
00:30:29how on earth am I going to build a bathroom
00:30:31in a week? And now you've done three of them.
00:30:34Well, two and a half.
00:30:36Nearly, mate. Nearly.
00:30:38Nearly there. It won't be long.
00:30:40We're getting there. Maddie and Charlotte,
00:30:42your first room on your own without any other input.
00:30:44How'd you go? I think we did good.
00:30:46We made it to Waterproof Wednesday. It's finished.
00:30:48Fantastic. Well done.
00:30:50Well, you're all proper blockheads now,
00:30:52but you're a big competitive bunch, aren't you?
00:30:56$10,000 from Ford for the best bathroom.
00:30:58Crucial money
00:31:00to win now.
00:31:02Let's find out who that's going to be, shall we?
00:31:18Let's get into it.
00:31:20House one, Maddie and Charlotte.
00:31:26This week was smooth sailing.
00:31:28Yeah, good one.
00:31:32Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:31:34Wow. This is stunning.
00:31:36We technically won
00:31:38in terms of points
00:31:40before the penguin was here.
00:31:42The little Phillip was bought out by Kylie and Brad.
00:31:44They stole our win,
00:31:46but they had a beautiful room too
00:31:48and they won the penguin, so they deserve it.
00:31:50So, yeah, it's fair game.
00:31:52This week,
00:31:54we are doing our first bathroom
00:31:56on the block, which is exciting.
00:31:58Walk in here, showerhead
00:32:00coming off that wall.
00:32:02And then this one's our first official full week
00:32:04with our own design,
00:32:06and so there is obviously a little bit of pressure there.
00:32:08And I'm going to work my butt off,
00:32:10but if that's not good enough,
00:32:12then, well, soz.
00:32:14This is a new
00:32:16colour that no one's ever used before.
00:32:18So it's not a brushed brass,
00:32:20but it's not brushed nickel.
00:32:22It's in between, like a champagne kind of colour.
00:32:24I would rather have more options
00:32:26than not.
00:32:29The colouring is better for this one.
00:32:31I got every colour of green towel
00:32:33you could possibly find.
00:32:35Maybe I get this dress in case too.
00:32:39We've kept the floor tile
00:32:41consistent with the other bathrooms.
00:32:43We have a vanity that's bringing timber,
00:32:45which is very much us.
00:32:47See, this is the first real look at what you guys
00:32:49are going to deliver for us.
00:32:51Trying to mesh our style with theirs.
00:32:53What was previously done.
00:32:55What's already created.
00:32:59All of the emotion
00:33:01hit me in the...
00:33:03I feel like it's a beautiful room.
00:33:05It feels like a holiday home bathroom.
00:33:07That's kind of what we're going for.
00:33:09So I'm excited to hear
00:33:11what the judges have to say about it.
00:33:19Smells good.
00:33:25You can see a real shift in style now, can't you?
00:33:27Yeah, we've got a little bit of greenery,
00:33:29but that's the only colour in here.
00:33:39It's time for you to decide
00:33:41which contestants you think
00:33:43have created this week's winning room.
00:33:45All you have to do is head
00:33:47to the Block website now to cast your vote.
00:33:49And don't miss the results
00:33:51a little later in the show.
00:33:57Let's get into it.
00:33:59House 1, Maddy and Charles.
00:34:07You can see a real shift
00:34:09in style now, can't you?
00:34:11Yeah, we've got a little bit of greenery,
00:34:13but that's the only colour in here.
00:34:17Everything is completely neutral
00:34:19and textured.
00:34:21And works.
00:34:23It really does.
00:34:25I find that
00:34:27this is a more sophisticated palette
00:34:29to what Jessie and Paige were doing.
00:34:31And so marketable
00:34:33to a very broad range of buyer.
00:34:35It's good.
00:34:41I think the mirror's gorgeous.
00:34:43I love the vanity.
00:34:45I love the marble on the bench top.
00:34:47Maddy did have one small issue
00:34:49and that was where the toilet was positioned.
00:34:52Having that toilet
00:34:54the moment you walk in
00:34:56as opposed to being hidden by the vanity,
00:34:58I think they're actually the wrong way around.
00:35:00As judging went on,
00:35:02Darren liked this bathroom
00:35:04more and more.
00:35:06There's really not a lot to fault.
00:35:08I like the tile choices, both of them.
00:35:10The large format is gorgeous.
00:35:12All the brass detailing.
00:35:14It's a lovely colour palette.
00:35:16It's subtle and simple and sophisticated.
00:35:18It's beautiful.
00:35:20We're going to continue the praise.
00:35:22I do love their actual sconces there.
00:35:24They're beautiful.
00:35:26I love the girl's direction and I'm really glad
00:35:28that they found their own personality
00:35:30because this is the first space that is truly theirs.
00:35:32So if this is what they're delivering,
00:35:34I'm really happy.
00:35:38And to be the youngest couple
00:35:40we've ever had on the block.
00:35:42Is that true?
00:35:44Yes, and to produce this standard.
00:35:46They're 22 and 24.
00:35:48I think it's absolutely remarkable.
00:35:50Remarkable.
00:35:52I feel it's also their
00:35:54experience
00:35:56in doing this in their own lives
00:35:58and it's really starting to shine through.
00:36:00We see so many people get frazzled on the block
00:36:02but these guys have just taken it to a duck
00:36:04to water because
00:36:06this is what they do.
00:36:12Shona has come up with a new style name
00:36:14for you, Maddie and Charlotte.
00:36:17The girls inherited the style of modern colonial
00:36:19and that's what we've been saying
00:36:21but I'd like to give the girls their own style
00:36:23and to me this is
00:36:25classic simplicity.
00:36:27Yeah, and it's shifted
00:36:29for the better.
00:36:31That's it, a great start.
00:36:33I'll take that.
00:36:37Just to know that the judges have
00:36:39positive stuff to say fills me with confidence.
00:36:41I'm like, no, I can give this a shot.
00:36:43We're on the right track.
00:36:47Uh, house two caught you grumpy.
00:36:49Hello.
00:36:51Let's do it.
00:36:55As always, this week has been chaotic.
00:36:57You say that every week.
00:36:59Because it always is.
00:37:03I don't see how this is
00:37:05modern-terranean.
00:37:07I particularly don't feel like
00:37:09this kitchen matches the level
00:37:11and quality and sophistication that I have
00:37:13seen in the previous rooms.
00:37:17Upstairs we wanted
00:37:19to create a second main
00:37:21bedroom area with an en suite
00:37:23so to get that larger en suite
00:37:25we've taken a bit from the office.
00:37:27I want to do like a striped shower
00:37:29so the stripes kind of come down the wall
00:37:31go on the bench and then
00:37:33that's a feature in the shower.
00:37:35I'm trying to keep it a little bit
00:37:37consistent with what we did in the last one.
00:37:39Similar cabinetry, we've got the
00:37:41Nude Co. basins and sand colour
00:37:43and then the flooring we're just going to do
00:37:45like a travertine look floor.
00:37:47It sounds really intense
00:37:49but I think it's going to work.
00:37:51Terracotta and like this bone coloured tile
00:37:53which is going to be striped.
00:37:55Yeah, it'll pop out nice.
00:37:57First prize goes
00:37:59to the green and white stripes.
00:38:05Bonus point for you as well.
00:38:07We won a penguin.
00:38:09This is our first challenge that we won.
00:38:11It could go one way or another.
00:38:13It could, couldn't it?
00:38:15I'm nervous about it.
00:38:17I do love a stripe
00:38:19and we've got stripes in some of the other rooms
00:38:21so we can tie that in a little bit.
00:38:23If anyone can make it work, you can Courtney.
00:38:35I want Marty to walk in and say
00:38:37guys are back, they've used their stone
00:38:39and it's more Mediterranean than ever.
00:38:42They're back baby, that's all I want to hear.
00:38:44They're back baby, here's a 10.
00:38:46You're going to dinner with Scotty.
00:38:48That'd be the perfect scenario.
00:39:04Wow, this is full on.
00:39:08But
00:39:10is it for the right reasons?
00:39:14This marble
00:39:16and the vanity is probably the
00:39:18only thing that I'm loving
00:39:20about this bathroom
00:39:22because
00:39:24it's much bigger than house one
00:39:26so they've taken space
00:39:28out of a second living room
00:39:30so I think that fundamentally
00:39:32doing that is a massive error
00:39:34from a real estate perspective.
00:39:36Then
00:39:38when I look at everything
00:39:40that they've done being
00:39:42Mediterranean, I feel that
00:39:44this is just pushing it too
00:39:46far. That will not translate
00:39:48well into a marketing campaign.
00:39:50I feel like, you know when you drive into Phillip Island
00:39:52and you go past that kids maze?
00:39:58This is like walking into the Phillip Island maze
00:40:00and I absolutely
00:40:02hate it.
00:40:06Oh
00:40:08What do you
00:40:10really think?
00:40:12Exactly that Shayna, exactly that.
00:40:14For me it's just
00:40:16a miss
00:40:18and this is now two weeks in a row
00:40:20where Grumpy and Courtney
00:40:22are actually making me a bit grumpy.
00:40:24I'm not picking up
00:40:26what they're putting down.
00:40:28Anyway, I've said my piece.
00:40:30I'll let you go Darren because I'm still
00:40:32trying to take it all in myself.
00:40:35Imagine how a buyer feels.
00:40:40You could open any number of
00:40:42magazines right now and see that.
00:40:44It's hot.
00:40:46It looks awesome.
00:40:48It's so good
00:40:50and so exciting.
00:40:52It'll look fantastic on a marketing brochure.
00:40:54Yeah.
00:40:56Shayna was incredibly torn.
00:40:58It definitely has impact.
00:41:00I do have to agree for
00:41:02a secondary en suite.
00:41:04It's such a waste of space.
00:41:06It's too much but visually
00:41:08to me this is incredibly unique.
00:41:10The people that appreciate beauty
00:41:12will appreciate this house.
00:41:14This is in a league of its own.
00:41:16But for me
00:41:18today this is form over function.
00:41:20I think this floor plan is a big mistake
00:41:22in layout. It's a big mistake
00:41:24in the real estate they've taken from the living space.
00:41:26I'm going to stand by
00:41:28their design choice
00:41:30but I'm not going to stand by their floor plan choice.
00:41:32Marty's major concern
00:41:34is about polarising buyers.
00:41:36It's about having a lot of bidders on auction day.
00:41:38The first few weeks
00:41:40they really did coin
00:41:42Mediterranean but I think
00:41:44now it has come off course
00:41:46and it's not feeling at that same level
00:41:48of sophistication and it's starting
00:41:50to just get a little gimmicky for me.
00:41:54Darren disagreed on that.
00:41:56He thinks aesthetically
00:41:58House 2 is the most coherent
00:42:01home on the block this year.
00:42:03This is absolutely one of the most
00:42:05beautifully finished, luxurious
00:42:07design centric
00:42:09homes that I've seen
00:42:11on the block ever
00:42:13and it is definitely my favourite
00:42:15on this season.
00:42:19They've swung hard
00:42:21for a designer market here
00:42:23and they have struck it out of the park.
00:42:25Mixed feedback
00:42:27from our judges. That's it though.
00:42:31That was disappointing.
00:42:33Not the way we expected it to go.
00:42:35I'm still really proud of what we produced
00:42:37and I still think it's a very
00:42:39sellable bathroom.
00:42:53It's roast time.
00:42:55Have you got the oven on mate?
00:42:57180, fan forced. Perfect, pre-heated.
00:43:03This week was better than last week.
00:43:09We always say the kitchen is the heart
00:43:11of the home and this heart needs a little bit
00:43:13of a defibrillator.
00:43:15Probably not the feedback you're expecting
00:43:17or hoping for boys. That's it fellas, sorry.
00:43:19I like your kitchen.
00:43:21It's definitely savage
00:43:23working your butt off to get
00:43:26a roasting on a Sunday night.
00:43:28It's a small space to work with
00:43:30so we're going to try not to overcrowd it.
00:43:32Sort of a less is more type of bathroom
00:43:34and I'm going to feature subway tile
00:43:36and a nice big round mirror
00:43:38and try and mix it up with a little bit of colour.
00:43:40It's a lot of yellow tiles.
00:43:42But you know,
00:43:44if you want to go bold, go bold.
00:43:46Go hard or go home.
00:43:48So we're going a nice
00:43:50pastel sort of
00:43:52daffodil yellow tile.
00:43:54We got absolutely hammered last week for styling
00:43:56so confidence is low but I've been leaning
00:43:58on some experts around me and hopefully
00:44:00this week we'll turn it around.
00:44:04Vanity and Basin, we've gone a little bit more colour pop.
00:44:06Oh, it's like a buttercup
00:44:08or something is it?
00:44:10Marigold custard.
00:44:12Yeah, that's cool.
00:44:14I'm desperate to win a bathroom show because I've been doing bathrooms
00:44:16for 16 years now and I'd love to be able
00:44:18to say that I went and did a bathroom on the block
00:44:20and won so desperate to get a win.
00:44:24Bring the, bring the light out.
00:44:26Bring the light out.
00:44:28Bring the, bring the light out.
00:44:30We nailed it this week. The finish was elite.
00:44:32Can't really fault the room so
00:44:34I think what's going to come down to
00:44:36this week is whether the judges like our bowl,
00:44:38our custard tart. Yeah, so
00:44:40we just want to be better than last week.
00:44:48Wow.
00:44:50Bit of yellow.
00:44:54This is a
00:44:56good layer.
00:44:58Great layer.
00:45:00That's a really nice
00:45:02expansive shower.
00:45:04We have the toilet in an
00:45:06appropriate position.
00:45:08Nice big vanity with lots of space
00:45:10on either side.
00:45:12Beautiful
00:45:14nude basin. Look at that.
00:45:16Look at that form.
00:45:18That's a really gorgeous shape. I love that.
00:45:20That's cool.
00:45:22Very cool. Oh, I like that.
00:45:24Great design
00:45:26decisions in here. This is a really,
00:45:28really exciting room.
00:45:30And I'm really
00:45:32proud of the boys for their styling because I
00:45:34feel like they have listened and
00:45:36they've played around and balanced.
00:45:38So I feel like they've
00:45:40upped the ante in their shapes,
00:45:42their connection, in their layout.
00:45:44I think there's a lot of
00:45:46good, good things in here.
00:45:48There are just a
00:45:51couple of things for me. I feel like
00:45:53the yellows are clashing
00:45:55because you look at that
00:45:57and that. That is a cool
00:45:59yellow. That's a warm yellow.
00:46:01And that yellow and that yellow work
00:46:03together. Maybe repaint the
00:46:05inside of the door to match the tile
00:46:07color was their suggestion.
00:46:09I really like the
00:46:11layout. I really can't fault them.
00:46:13The materiality, it's a bit
00:46:15of a sway from the masculine sort
00:46:17of rooms that we've seen. So it's got a little bit more
00:46:19femininity, which I really like.
00:46:21That's all I'd paint.
00:46:23That's all I'd paint.
00:46:25Is it an amazing bathroom
00:46:27that gets the senses going?
00:46:29No. But is it
00:46:31marketable to a large range of buyers?
00:46:33Yes, it is.
00:46:35Marty Fix, the circles are becoming
00:46:37a theme in your house and it's
00:46:39quite subtle and makes the house
00:46:41cohesive. The circle in the
00:46:43ceiling in the main bedroom,
00:46:45the circles in the bathrooms,
00:46:47even the island bench top in the kitchen.
00:46:49Everything was circular so
00:46:51they've got their own
00:46:53little quirky style that they're running with
00:46:55and it's actually working for them.
00:46:57I like the
00:46:59materials palette. I like the tile decisions.
00:47:01It's well finished and
00:47:03it's been nicely painted.
00:47:05I feel like the boyish natural
00:47:07style has
00:47:09a sense of play in it and I think
00:47:11they need to embrace that and
00:47:13I think they could have something really fun
00:47:15and really popular and really saleable.
00:47:17I'd say a big
00:47:19tip to the boys because we were very hard on them
00:47:21last week and I think they've done a great job
00:47:23and they've finished a bathroom. And it's
00:47:25finished. Yes. I'm so happy for them.
00:47:27Yeah. Well that wasn't a roasting boys
00:47:29that's it.
00:47:31I think we're on now.
00:47:33I think we're delivering
00:47:35quality spaces. I think that
00:47:37Hayden's starting to nail his
00:47:39design and his style choices
00:47:41so kudos to
00:47:43Paige for doing that.
00:47:53Okay, Kylie and Brad
00:47:55a big week last week
00:47:57taking out the win with your
00:47:59amazing black kitchen.
00:48:01Let's see how you go this week.
00:48:07I don't like bathrooms.
00:48:13What we were sort of looking at trying to achieve
00:48:15with the guest bathroom
00:48:17was just somewhere that is
00:48:19like a little bit more of a getaway.
00:48:21Like a little bit more of like maybe like a sauna
00:48:23or like a little bit more of a day spa.
00:48:25Alright, door, toilet
00:48:27Toilet will be this way because we can't
00:48:29put it that way. Shower.
00:48:31I am dabbling
00:48:33in a little bit of colour.
00:48:35The basin, it's sort of a dusty pink.
00:48:37A blush pink.
00:48:40So I've got a great piece
00:48:42of art and it's you know this like moody woman
00:48:44that I actually think is a bit like me.
00:48:46She's got this like electric black smoky
00:48:48eye. And she's stroking a fish.
00:48:50And she's stroking a fish.
00:48:52We don't have a tiler.
00:48:54Guess what? Approved.
00:48:56Approved. Without a tiler.
00:48:58But you don't have a tiler. No.
00:49:00Do you know of anyone?
00:49:02So we're still sticking with the
00:49:04original deckton floor up to
00:49:06pretty much where the panelling is. Wow.
00:49:08And then we're going to do the timber tile
00:49:10right to the ceiling of the shower.
00:49:12And now we've finally got a tiler on the way.
00:49:14House number four we've got to find, yeah?
00:49:16So they started
00:49:18tiling at two o'clock on Friday afternoon.
00:49:28Like I want the judges to still
00:49:30recognise that we're trying to
00:49:32evolve.
00:49:34But we're also still bringing in the same
00:49:36quality of what we've done in previous bathrooms
00:49:38as well. I just want top five.
00:49:40That'd be good.
00:49:42Top five.
00:49:46Oh wow. That's
00:49:48a lot.
00:49:54That's a hell of a lot.
00:50:00This is exactly what
00:50:02I thought Carly and Brad were
00:50:04looking for in their very first bathroom.
00:50:08This is the right bathroom for this house.
00:50:10Darren really
00:50:12liked the use of the timber look tiles
00:50:14going all the way up that
00:50:16vast ceiling in the shower.
00:50:18I think
00:50:20that it's encapsulated that
00:50:22shower space so beautifully
00:50:24and it needs this balance.
00:50:26It needs that softness. Even if it's not
00:50:28a real timber, I think it's a really beautiful
00:50:30use of this tile.
00:50:32I really, really like it.
00:50:34Marty, however, isn't
00:50:36a big fan of materials
00:50:38masquerading as something
00:50:40else.
00:50:42I think that's a mistake.
00:50:44Using the timber look
00:50:46tile is not what I would have
00:50:48done. And I think the buyers after seeing that kitchen
00:50:50will feel that this is a totally different
00:50:52level when they come upstairs.
00:50:54And it's not a level up, it's a level down.
00:50:58Wow, we're all going to battle on this one.
00:51:00To me, this
00:51:02nude co-column basin is the hero.
00:51:04And it adds this impact
00:51:06of colour and softness.
00:51:08It's beautiful.
00:51:10I love this art choice.
00:51:12And I love the fact that they haven't tiled the whole thing.
00:51:14They've done this board here which looks
00:51:16fantastic, the hearty groove.
00:51:18My only problem is
00:51:20I would have taken the deck down all the way
00:51:22through to the shower because it breaks it up.
00:51:24But I
00:51:26think it's so much more sophisticated.
00:51:28I feel like they've grown in their sophistication
00:51:30from week one.
00:51:32Will everyone love it? I don't think so.
00:51:34But to me, there's a
00:51:36lot of wins here for me.
00:51:38Yeah,
00:51:40look, for me it just feels a bit off.
00:51:42I think
00:51:44it's better than the first bathroom.
00:51:46The layout's good.
00:51:48Yes, it will shoot well.
00:51:50I can appreciate the basin, but
00:51:52it seems a bit random.
00:51:54It seems to be sort of plonked there.
00:51:56And I do like
00:51:58the fact that they've got the hearty groove here, but
00:52:00I don't know if the colour is right.
00:52:02Marty wondered
00:52:04how it is you managed
00:52:06to deliver a kitchen last week
00:52:08finished to perfection and then
00:52:10a bathroom this week that isn't fully grouted.
00:52:12Is the grouting
00:52:14not done? Not in the shower.
00:52:16It's missing its grouting.
00:52:18The finishes aren't there and
00:52:20they really stand out.
00:52:22So it's hard to
00:52:24feel like you're in a completed room
00:52:26when it's just not.
00:52:28What happened?
00:52:30We had a couple of unfortunate
00:52:32occurrences with toilets,
00:52:34so we were lucky to even get
00:52:36a toilet this week. Rightio.
00:52:38I've just got one tip for Carly
00:52:40and Brad, is attention
00:52:42to fine detail.
00:52:44Because I keep going to
00:52:46the Column Basin as the hero because that's what
00:52:48it is. It's the bright, shining
00:52:50light in this room. I'm looking at the
00:52:52shampoo and conditioner in this
00:52:54lolly pink and it detracts
00:52:56from what the basin is doing.
00:52:58If you've got a hero, leave it alone.
00:53:00You don't have to match it with anything else.
00:53:02In finishing,
00:53:04Darren Palmer said there's a lot
00:53:06to love in this room.
00:53:08They're in the game now.
00:53:10This look and this style
00:53:12sets them apart from the
00:53:14other houses. It defines this
00:53:16house. They've done this beautifully in terms
00:53:18of the materials palette and linking
00:53:20those spaces together. They're on
00:53:22the money here. They have something special.
00:53:24They really do.
00:53:26I 100% agree.
00:53:28That's it. Well done.
00:53:34Couldn't ask for better than that.
00:53:46Okay, here we go. Christian
00:53:48and Mimi.
00:53:54This week
00:53:56started off a nightmare and
00:53:58ended up okay. This is our
00:54:00last wet room.
00:54:02We're doing the
00:54:04guest en suite, which is downstairs
00:54:06for us and it is a small
00:54:08bathroom compared to
00:54:10the ones that we've already done.
00:54:12To be honest, I'm feeling really uninspired.
00:54:14I have design block and
00:54:16I have no idea what to do.
00:54:18Ah!
00:54:20Okay, I'm going to go
00:54:22floor to ceiling. I'm going to do this entire
00:54:24wall a feature tile. We've done floor
00:54:26to ceiling tiles everywhere in
00:54:28all of our other bathrooms. I thought,
00:54:30why don't we just do that again?
00:54:32Because it's such a teeny weeny bathroom.
00:54:34Can we try the
00:54:36same stone that we had in the first bathroom?
00:54:38We kept all of our tap work consistent.
00:54:40We've used the same vanity
00:54:42in different colours in all three bathrooms
00:54:44that we've done. Different colours, different stones.
00:54:46Yeah, I think that's cool.
00:54:48You keep it consistent, but then you change
00:54:50it up a little bit. Wow!
00:54:52Amazing! Okay, we'll do that.
00:54:54We're definitely going to make
00:54:56waterproof Wednesday. Waterproof Wednesday!
00:55:00We just
00:55:02thought if this can service the pool, we think about doing a
00:55:04little shower out here as well. When you go to the beach
00:55:06you can use this as an entry way to the house.
00:55:08That's a good idea. A bit of a tropical
00:55:10mudroom. Yes, exactly!
00:55:12You can call it a sandroom.
00:55:14Yeah, there you go.
00:55:16That's a good idea! Thank you, I just made that up.
00:55:18There you go!
00:55:28I'm happy with the room.
00:55:30I just don't go in
00:55:32and I'm like, oh my god!
00:55:34I have the opposite feeling.
00:55:36You said it's his favourite bathroom. I actually think it's
00:55:38my favourite one that we've done.
00:55:42Now this
00:55:44is what I like.
00:55:48This is clean,
00:55:50marketable.
00:55:52It's just so well put together.
00:55:54Shona praised the colour choices
00:55:56throughout the room.
00:55:58I love the beautiful
00:56:00blue and green and they've done, you know, the blue
00:56:02basin and they've done the green
00:56:04and the green and the green.
00:56:06It's just so well put together.
00:56:08It's just so well put together.
00:56:10The blue basin and they've done the green
00:56:12and the vanity.
00:56:14But she felt there was something about this
00:56:16off-centre ceiling panelling
00:56:18that's disconnected.
00:56:20I love it! I liked it in the other room
00:56:22because it balanced with the way the vanity
00:56:24went. I'm just sort of like, it feels a bit
00:56:26odd because it's
00:56:28off-centre to the vanity.
00:56:30If you're going to do it, you have to line it up with something
00:56:32that just doesn't line up
00:56:34with anything here.
00:56:36I really dislike it.
00:56:38Dislike?
00:56:40I really don't like it.
00:56:42It's an inclusion for the sake of an inclusion
00:56:44that doesn't relate to anything else.
00:56:46I have a problem with it.
00:56:48It makes the room imbalanced.
00:56:50See, for me, it actually
00:56:52warms up the room and
00:56:54I really like it.
00:56:56It tells the story of the house
00:56:58because it's consistent with all the other bathrooms
00:57:00and buyers do love consistency.
00:57:02He's all about the real estate, Marty Fox.
00:57:04He's all about selling.
00:57:06Darren thinks
00:57:08there is a lot to like in this bathroom.
00:57:10I like the consistency.
00:57:12I like that on their marketing
00:57:14brochure, on their website, on social
00:57:16media, that it's going to look like each room
00:57:18belongs to each other. The bathrooms belong
00:57:20to the bedrooms, the bedrooms belong to the kitchen,
00:57:22the kitchens belong to these bathrooms.
00:57:24I like that they have tweaked
00:57:26each colour palette as well.
00:57:28It's not the same as the other bathrooms.
00:57:30This is that teal green.
00:57:32But there are
00:57:34details in here that I don't love.
00:57:36I think the basin's too big. There should be more
00:57:38bench space.
00:57:40You then notice that the mirror is not installed properly.
00:57:42It's not even level.
00:57:46Oh my gosh.
00:57:48It's actually not in properly.
00:57:50That's very wonky.
00:57:52See, the attention to detail and fixing,
00:57:54that's actually not straight.
00:57:56He thinks that it seems like your attention
00:57:58to detail is a bit off this week.
00:58:00And I'm underwhelmed
00:58:02by this
00:58:04aesthetic purely
00:58:06because I have
00:58:08seen it before in this house.
00:58:12Shona agreed saying
00:58:14she thinks this bathroom is a bit too
00:58:16formulaic for the competition.
00:58:18It's not exciting
00:58:20me because I've seen them do it.
00:58:22It's rinse, lather, repeat.
00:58:24Is it a wow factor? Absolutely not.
00:58:26Does it work? Absolutely yes.
00:58:28Is it consistent?
00:58:30100%.
00:58:32But what does excite me
00:58:34is their consistency.
00:58:36Because come auction
00:58:38week, I want to see a house that actually
00:58:40fits in its whole
00:58:42and not have rooms that are jarring.
00:58:44And I find that House 5
00:58:46really has nailed their consistency.
00:58:48They've delivered something saleable
00:58:50and something that is desirable
00:58:52but there's just little
00:58:54things, I think,
00:58:56that go against this otherwise
00:58:58very nice
00:59:00room. Very nice.
00:59:02Very nice. But is nice
00:59:04going to be good enough to win week 7
00:59:06on the block? That's it.
00:59:08Scores.
00:59:12I've said the whole week
00:59:14this room has
00:59:16me felt lacklustre. But it's just
00:59:18I was uninspired and I knew it.
00:59:20Our builder called it hump week
00:59:22but yeah, it's sort of, yeah I think
00:59:24I was feeling it. I feel like a camel
00:59:26trodden on my head. A camel?
00:59:28Yeah, hump. Oh, okay.
00:59:40Okay, scores, here we go.
00:59:42Darren Palmer, Maddy and
00:59:44Charlotte.
00:59:46It's a lovely colour palette. It's subtle
00:59:48and simple and sophisticated.
00:59:50It's beautiful.
00:59:53It's poo.
00:59:56You're kidding.
00:59:58F*** no.
01:00:02Courtney and Grumpy.
01:00:04You could open
01:00:06any number of magazines right now
01:00:08and see that.
01:00:12Ricky and Hayden.
01:00:14Great design decisions in here.
01:00:16This is a really, really exciting room.
01:00:18I'm nervous.
01:00:20Yeah, good idea.
01:00:22Colin and Brad.
01:00:24This look and this style
01:00:26sets them apart from the other houses.
01:00:28They're on the money.
01:00:34It was a six. I know.
01:00:36It's bad as I thought.
01:00:40Christian and Mimi.
01:00:42I like the consistency. I like that on their
01:00:44marketing brochure that it's going to look
01:00:46like each room belongs to each other.
01:00:52Here we go.
01:00:54Is that your first nine, boys?
01:00:56Second. We'll take it.
01:00:58You'll take it.
01:01:00Who's counting?
01:01:02Me.
01:01:04Maddy Fox.
01:01:06Here we go. Maddy and Charlotte.
01:01:08This is a more sophisticated
01:01:10palette to what Jesse and Paige
01:01:12were doing and so marketable
01:01:14to a very broad range of
01:01:16buy-in.
01:01:20I don't want to
01:01:22take your breath away. Courtney and Grumpy.
01:01:24This is like walking into the
01:01:26Phillip Island maze. It's an
01:01:28optical illusion and I absolutely
01:01:30hate it.
01:01:36I don't think we'll be using our bedroom this week.
01:01:38Ricky and Hayden.
01:01:40Is it
01:01:42an amazing bathroom?
01:01:44No, but is it
01:01:46marketable to a large range of buyers?
01:01:48Yes, it is.
01:02:00Courtney and Brad.
01:02:02It's missing its grouting. The finishes
01:02:04aren't there and they really stand
01:02:06out.
01:02:10Christian
01:02:12and Mimi.
01:02:14Now this is what I like.
01:02:16This is clean,
01:02:18marketable.
01:02:22Oi, oi, oi.
01:02:24Rightio.
01:02:26Phil's available.
01:02:28It's a definite. Not today. Not today.
01:02:30Not today. I think I've been eating the roast.
01:02:32Shana
01:02:34Blaze. Maddy and Charlotte.
01:02:36I love the girls' direction
01:02:38and I'm really glad that they've found
01:02:40their own personality. Courtney and
01:02:42Grumpy. For a
01:02:44secondary en suite. This is such
01:02:46a waste of space. It's too much.
01:02:54Ricky and Hayden. I feel like
01:02:56they've upped the ante
01:02:58in their shapes, their connection
01:03:00and their layout.
01:03:02Courtney and Brad. Will everyone love it?
01:03:04I don't think so, but
01:03:06to me, there's a lot of wins here
01:03:08for me. Christian and Mimi.
01:03:10Is it a wow factor?
01:03:12Absolutely not. Does it work?
01:03:14Absolutely yes.
01:03:16Okay, here we go.
01:03:18Winner of week seven
01:03:20on the blog, Bathroom Week,
01:03:22taking home $10,000 from Ford is
01:03:24here we go.
01:03:28Maddy and Charlotte.
01:03:30Woo!
01:03:36I'm so excited. We did it.
01:03:38I still don't believe it. I just, this is not our
01:03:40I'm like, we won a room on the block.
01:03:42Like this is something that we used to watch on TV
01:03:44and now we actually won.
01:03:46Well done. Well done girls.
01:03:48Well done.
01:04:00I guess there's some people you just don't get along with
01:04:02and they rubbed us up the wrong way.
01:04:04So I don't trust
01:04:06them. They put up a
01:04:08great front, but we know there's
01:04:10something brewing.
01:04:12Maddy and Charlotte
01:04:14scored 27 and a half points from
01:04:16the judges for their guest en suite.
01:04:18There was no
01:04:20roast for house three this week,
01:04:22with the boys taking out second place on 25
01:04:24points. Third place was
01:04:26tied with both Christian and Mimi
01:04:28and Kylie and Brad on 24
01:04:30and a half points. And Courtney
01:04:32and Grant's bold design choice
01:04:34didn't quite pay off, coming in
01:04:36last place on 24 points.
01:04:40Congratulations girls. First
01:04:42room on your own and you take out
01:04:44the win. That must feel great.
01:04:46And you're going to have a fantastic forward
01:04:48getaway with me tomorrow night.
01:04:50I've got some very special guests
01:04:52and some very special
01:04:54surprises as well. You are
01:04:56going to love it.
01:04:58I'm like, they liked it.
01:05:00That was fun.
01:05:02And technically we kind of won last week too,
01:05:04so I'm like, two weeks in a row?
01:05:06By score, it was two weeks in a row by the judges.
01:05:08That makes me
01:05:10so happy. It gives me so much more confidence
01:05:12because that really is our style, that room up
01:05:14there. Now gang, next
01:05:16week is going to be a huge
01:05:18one. So get
01:05:20some rest and get
01:05:22prepared.
01:05:24Good luck. Good night. See ya.
01:05:36It was our lowest score to date,
01:05:38obviously coming last. The more the weeks go
01:05:40on, the less
01:05:42confident I am.
01:05:44It seems like we started really high.
01:05:46Just starting to slide. Yeah.
01:05:48Hey, relax.
01:05:50I know,
01:05:52but I'm just like, you do all these
01:05:54all-nighters and then you just feel f***ed.
01:05:56It'll be alright. It'll be worth it
01:05:58in the end. Sorry.
01:06:00Kylie and
01:06:02Brad didn't clap or didn't
01:06:04have any kind of response.
01:06:06The common decency to be a good
01:06:08sport would have been
01:06:10nice. You're telling me
01:06:12the girls have a winning bathroom?
01:06:14Their first actual
01:06:16room and it wins?
01:06:18It was only Kylie and Brad who didn't say congratulations.
01:06:20Everyone else said congratulations.
01:06:22But to have someone completely
01:06:24ignore you, not even
01:06:26crack a smile, that is
01:06:28a bit hurtful because what have I done
01:06:30to get that kind of response, you know?
01:06:32They're f***ing Greek. I think
01:06:34they're the most hated people on the block at the moment. Yeah, literally.
01:06:36I'm like, what? So I just have to lose
01:06:38every week just to be friends with you? No, I don't know.
01:06:40I think they're the most
01:06:42overly warm. Babe, we have no idea
01:06:44who the f*** these girls are.
01:06:46Eh, well, if people can't
01:06:48be happy for us, then that's not
01:06:50my problem.
01:06:52Next week. Ah, it's their exciting week.
01:06:54Ha-ha!
01:06:56It's a very, very important room to get right.
01:06:58Living and dining brings some of the biggest
01:07:00rooms we've ever seen on the block.
01:07:02I'm nervous for this week, to be honest. It's a massive
01:07:04room. Whoever wins this week is whoever finishes.
01:07:06I have to put in a light order.
01:07:08I have to look for lights. I have to look for the TV unit.
01:07:10Why?!
01:07:12Issues with materials
01:07:14causes major setbacks.
01:07:16There's no plaster. It's touch and go whether we get
01:07:18some today or not. For everyone or...? For every
01:07:20house. It is an absolute
01:07:22disaster. They need to be plastering
01:07:24yesterday.
01:07:26Also, this year's sisters
01:07:28meet last year's all-stars, Liberty
01:07:30and Eliza.
01:07:32Oh, you look so much nicer than what we
01:07:34used to look like.
01:07:36Just to hang out with them. It was so fun.
01:07:38And when the rooms
01:07:40are revealed...
01:07:42It's unbelievable.
01:07:44Our Phillip Island is this.
01:07:46The winner will be rolling in it.
01:07:48A $30,000
01:07:50week. Wow!
01:07:52Ah!
01:07:54Our room reveal galleries
01:07:56are now open for inspection
01:07:58exclusively at the block website.
