00:08The farmers are preparing the expensive ingredients of bread.

00:12And if this continues, they might be forced to raise the prices.

00:20By the afternoon, more people are buying bread in this bakery in Gagalangin, Tondo, Manila.

00:29But the challenge in this bakery is to raise the prices of some ingredients of bread.

00:35One sack of flour is now up to Php 40.

00:39The eggs from the previous batch of 2,400 are now at Php 2,800.

00:45The price of sugar also increased.

00:48However, they did not raise the prices and reduced the weight.

00:52One pandesal costs Php 5 in their bakery.

00:55We still need the dough.

00:58Bread is the favorite snack of Filipinos, just like pandesal.

01:02But some pandesal makers are asking for a higher price

01:06because of the high price of some ingredients in making it.

01:09According to Chito Chavez, President of the Association of Filipino Bakers,

01:14as of now, the price of pandesal is at Php 3.50 to Php 4 in community bakeries.

01:21The price of raw materials, which are mostly imported, should not increase

01:26so that their products will not be affected.

01:29Agri products should be subsidized by our government.

01:33They should be sold to us at a low price.

01:36We asked the Department of Trade and Industry to issue a statement,

01:39but they did not respond to us.

01:41First, the Trade Department said that they are trying their best not to raise the prices until Christmas.

01:47Second, the big manufacturer of bread with a high price of Php 5

01:52issued a statement for each pack of Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pandesala.
