00:00:00Previously, just testing out the toilets.
00:00:04This week we are doing the mezzanine en suite, our first room upstairs.
00:00:09I want to do like a striped shower, so the stripes kind of come down the wall, go on
00:00:13the bench.
00:00:14That's cool, right?
00:00:15Yeah.
00:00:16After seven long weeks, some teams are lacking motivation.
00:00:20I have design block.
00:00:21I'm feeling really uninspired and I have no idea what to do.
00:00:26Kylie and Brad had Tyler troubles.
00:00:29We've had a toilet have a baby, a toilet have a car accident, a toilet not show up.
00:00:38And videos were uncovered that changed the game.
00:00:40It's had the opportunity to be up front and be transparent, but they didn't do that.
00:00:45None of us have ever tried to mislead or tell sort of lies about what we do.
00:00:50They've lied.
00:00:51They've lied.
00:00:52It's sneaky.
00:00:53Tonight.
00:00:54Four minutes.
00:00:55Four minutes.
00:00:56Our blockheads race to the finish line.
00:00:58Come on, quick.
00:00:59We don't need the pressure.
00:01:00Just come when it's done.
00:01:01Sibling rivalry takes hold.
00:01:02She doesn't know how to carry a ladder.
00:01:05Charlotte, that's not fair.
00:01:06I feel so incapable.
00:01:07Charlotte, without me, there is no room.
00:01:08So, would you like to win?
00:01:09And when the judges arrive.
00:01:10Oh.
00:01:11It's a book.
00:01:12It's hot.
00:01:13It looks awesome.
00:01:14This is in a league of its own.
00:01:15I don't know.
00:01:16I don't know.
00:01:17I don't know.
00:01:18I don't know.
00:01:19I don't know.
00:01:20I don't know.
00:01:21I don't know.
00:01:22I don't know.
00:01:23I don't know.
00:01:24I don't know.
00:01:25Marty's feedback packs a punch.
00:01:27I absolutely hate it.
00:01:33Oh.
00:01:45You look so fresh and beautiful.
00:01:46You always do.
00:01:51Morning, Brad.
00:01:52How are you?
00:01:53Oh.
00:01:58Fine.
00:01:59Saturday, we have everything to do in this room.
00:02:08Everything.
00:02:09With just over 24 hours until reveal, House 4 need to transform their guest en-suite from
00:02:15this to this.
00:02:18They aren't the only team that will need to push hard today to bring their designs to
00:02:23life.
00:02:24Morning, boys.
00:02:25Good morning.
00:02:26Good morning.
00:02:27We have tiling to finish.
00:02:28We have a vanity and a stone top to install.
00:02:31And it's all just a little bit of history repeated.
00:02:35We have sanding, painting.
00:02:37We have shopping.
00:02:39The news people shout, a new style is brought.
00:02:42So we've got to grout, get the basin, get the mirror hung on the wall.
00:02:47Hi, everybody.
00:02:48I had seven hours sleep.
00:02:50I'm a new woman.
00:02:52The glass shower screen has to be put in.
00:02:55The plumber and lekkies will have to get their feet off.
00:02:58No time to waste until we get a message from Mr. Scotty himself saying.
00:03:04Morning, Blockheads.
00:03:05There's no better way to start your day than with some exercise.
00:03:08Put on your active wear, jump in your Ford, meet us at the end of Gat Road.
00:03:12In the Ford, we have to leave.
00:03:14How far away is it?
00:03:15Oh, dear.
00:03:16Well, I don't know if I have any clean active wear.
00:03:19We were going to be leaving to go to another challenge.
00:03:23I was like, what?
00:03:24It's Saturday.
00:03:25We're delivering a bathroom tomorrow.
00:03:29Guys.
00:03:30Mims.
00:03:32Mimi.
00:03:33We have a challenge.
00:03:37No, you're ****ing me.
00:03:38I'm not joking.
00:03:40We can't go anywhere.
00:03:43Do you know we've got a challenge?
00:03:46Yeah, we do.
00:03:47No, we don't.
00:03:48Yeah.
00:03:49You're joking.
00:03:50No, I'm not.
00:03:51On a Saturday.
00:03:52Come on.
00:03:53That's not fair.
00:03:54We'll be fine.
00:03:55Yeah.
00:03:56We'll win the challenge and we'll win the room.
00:03:57Can you not be so cocky?
00:03:58It's weird.
00:03:59Just be quiet.
00:04:00We'll try and let him know real softly.
00:04:05Hayden.
00:04:07Hayden.
00:04:10Hayden.
00:04:12We've got a challenge, mate.
00:04:16It's no surprise that Hayden is struggling to get out of bed this morning as last night
00:04:21the block was buzzing.
00:04:22They have not been through what we've been through.
00:04:26Videos of Maddie and Charlotte were discovered by the rest of the teams who were shocked
00:04:30to learn the extent of the sisters' renovating experience.
00:04:33Starting out with an ambitious full reno they sold for a tidy profit, this entrepreneurial
00:04:38duo is now transforming a house into a safe and comfortable home ready for future tenants.
00:04:43None of it adds up.
00:04:45Straight away them hiding it is just damaging their character.
00:04:48It's just dumb.
00:04:49They had the opportunity to be up front and be transparent but they didn't do that.
00:04:55It just felt a bit deceitful.
00:04:57It's sneaky.
00:05:01Seasoned renovators it calls them.
00:05:03Just the way that they're cagey about it makes you go like, what are you playing at?
00:05:09They said they were just accountants.
00:05:11Yeah.
00:05:12They're in renovation.
00:05:13Yeah.
00:05:15What do you guys do for work?
00:05:17We both have business degrees and so we've just done like a whole different range.
00:05:20Mortgage broking, accounting, all that kind of random stuff.
00:05:24You like the idea of flying under the radar?
00:05:26Yeah.
00:05:27You don't have like the target on your back.
00:05:28I think it also covers that part because I'm like if we like flop then like well, oh well.
00:05:32We can just tell them what else we do.
00:05:34We work in finance.
00:05:35Yeah.
00:05:37We do.
00:05:38We just also have another huge hobby on the side.
00:05:41Don't look me up on social media.
00:05:44Having grown up watching the block, the girls are aware that withholding information has been a well-established strategy over the past 20 seasons to get an edge on the competition.
00:05:54We don't know what they're doing.
00:05:56They don't know what we're doing.
00:05:58Our evil plan has worked.
00:06:00So we're asking if you guys would mind if we worked forward.
00:06:04How do you get a unanimous yes?
00:06:06Don't tell them all the facts.
00:06:07Don't tell them everything.
00:06:09Nobody knows I'm a tradesperson and also a qualified tiler.
00:06:12I am a former tiler that I haven't told anybody.
00:06:14Everyone else is kind of trying to call their tiler in.
00:06:16I can be in there at 2, 3 in the morning, whatever, getting away with it.
00:06:21We got a real estate agent.
00:06:22Yeah, we spoke to a real estate prior to coming on the show.
00:06:26Are you going to tell your fellow neighbours about that?
00:06:29Well, we're like, you know, it's like a need-to-know basis.
00:06:33But it seems what's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander.
00:06:38I don't know why you'd hide it.
00:06:39There's no need to hide anything.
00:06:41It's just, yeah, it's a weird way to go about it.
00:06:45My thing has always been, OK, you can do whatever you want.
00:06:48Everyone has advantages here, but like, don't lie to my face.
00:06:53Hang on a minute, Mimi.
00:06:54I seem to recall the girls actually did tell you a bit about their experience
00:06:58when they first arrived two weeks ago.
00:07:02There's been a rumour flying around that you guys flip houses.
00:07:06Lol.
00:07:08We have multiple jobs, but we do have investment properties.
00:07:13What?
00:07:15At your age?
00:07:16Yeah, we started saving when we were really little.
00:07:18Our dad's a mortgage broker and our parents have always just been super, like,
00:07:22encouraged us to save.
00:07:23So the properties that we're flipping are like going for $800,000.
00:07:27I bought a kitchen off Facebook Marketplace,
00:07:29dismantled it from someone else's kitchen and put it into our property.
00:07:33We don't really see it as a huge advantage because it's completely different to this.
00:07:38Like, this feels very overwhelming to us still.
00:07:40Yeah.
00:07:41But I think that that's awesome.
00:07:42We're, like, so happy if people, like, want to ask questions and stuff,
00:07:45we're so happy to, like, answer them.
00:07:47And so I kind of was like, whatever, let it go.
00:07:49That's fine.
00:07:50And they've told me now.
00:07:52But clearly it wasn't fine and she didn't let it go.
00:07:55And in fact, Mimi is now at the eye of the storm.
00:07:59Where did the video come from?
00:08:01Where did the video come from?
00:08:02Mimi sent the video to Courtney.
00:08:06I did not find this video.
00:08:07The video was shown to me.
00:08:12How did you find it?
00:08:14Secret.
00:08:15Secrets, girls.
00:08:16It's a secret.
00:08:17Our little investigators were out there looking.
00:08:20Our outside source.
00:08:21Who is your outside source?
00:08:22It was the AFP.
00:08:24We hide people to look because we knew that there was something.
00:08:28Last week was talking with Kylie.
00:08:31When I met her and Hayden, they were out doing some shopping.
00:08:34And Kylie said to me, I need you to do some digging.
00:08:38A bit sus on these new girls.
00:08:40And I said, all right.
00:08:42Did you ask Chelsea to do anything for you?
00:08:45Sure.
00:08:46Probably.
00:08:47I don't know.
00:08:48I don't remember.
00:08:51You don't remember?
00:08:52Yeah, I remember.
00:08:58So I did and I found a video.
00:09:02We're just going to keep squeezing until it turns grey and then it's ready to use.
00:09:06I get shown this video and it's them doing things that I don't know how to do.
00:09:11Why couldn't you have told me this information?
00:09:15What's the benefit of holding back?
00:09:17I don't like that.
00:09:19So I was up at the car and Maddie and Charlotte came past.
00:09:22And I just took the opportunity to ask them exactly what was on my mind.
00:09:26I was in bed and they said we're doing a marathon.
00:09:28Were you in bed still?
00:09:29What time did you stay in bed till?
00:09:31I don't know.
00:09:32Eight o'clock?
00:09:33Maybe.
00:09:34I was watching videos of you girls last night.
00:09:36A media outlet did some digging and found that we have done an ad with Seeker Australia.
00:09:43It's all private.
00:09:44I don't know how they found that.
00:09:45On YouTube?
00:09:46They're real diggers.
00:09:47Yeah, but how do they put two and two together?
00:09:48Are you their ambassadors?
00:09:49No.
00:09:50Yeah, I think they danced around it a little bit and were a bit embarrassed and tried to
00:09:51explain to me this and they're not affiliated with any brands in any way and they were just
00:09:52sort of brought in for no good reason.
00:09:53So I didn't explain much at all.
00:09:54Yeah.
00:09:55Yeah, no, that was pretty funny.
00:09:56I can't believe they found that.
00:09:57I'm like, ew, I don't want people to see this.
00:09:58I'm like, ew, I don't want people to see this.
00:09:59I'm like, ew, I don't want people to see this.
00:10:00I'm like, ew, I don't want people to see this.
00:10:01I honestly can't read Hayden.
00:10:02I don't know if he wants to know what we do, like, more in detail.
00:10:03The whole situation kind of confuses me.
00:10:04Okay, we'll see you soon.
00:10:05See you there.
00:10:06Toodles.
00:10:07Toodles.
00:10:08I haven't watched any videos of Hayden or Rikki.
00:10:09No.
00:10:10No.
00:10:11No.
00:10:12No.
00:10:13No.
00:10:14No.
00:10:15No.
00:10:16No.
00:10:17No.
00:10:18No.
00:10:19No.
00:10:20No.
00:10:21No.
00:10:22No.
00:10:23No.
00:10:24No.
00:10:25No.
00:10:26No.
00:10:27No.
00:10:28No.
00:10:29No.
00:10:30Well, I don't understand that.
00:10:31I feel like…
00:10:32It's kinda of a bit weird.
00:10:33Yeah.
00:10:34I'd like to know something.
00:10:35Like, I'm happy to tell you but just ask.
00:10:36So what do we do about the girls situation?
00:10:43I'd have spoke to him.
00:10:52So what do we do about the girl's situation?
00:10:58I'd have spoke to him. I'd have said, are you the ambassador for Sika?
00:11:02They played it off like it was nothing. Like, oh, this guy just asked us to do it.
00:11:07It was like, I'm so embarrassed that those videos are going around.
00:11:11I'm like, they're on YouTube.
00:11:12I don't even know who they are, let alone all of a sudden they're brand ambassadors
00:11:18and they're doing these ads.
00:11:20And then how many are there of these?
00:11:23They've lied about what background they've got, the experience they've got.
00:11:27And who knows what else?
00:11:28We love challenges, so we were pumped up.
00:11:48It's a good chance to get off the block and have a bit of fun
00:11:50and do something a bit different.
00:11:52And today's challenge will take place right beside Phillip
00:11:56Island's world-famous racetrack.
00:11:58Morning. G'day, g'day. Hello, hello.
00:12:01Morning.
00:12:02I'm sure you clocked our two guns warming up on the Dream Court.
00:12:05Maddie Rotschi and Steph Reid from the Opals,
00:12:08Australia's women's basketball team.
00:12:11Girls, great to have you with us.
00:12:13Thanks for having us.
00:12:15Now, Maddie, you won the WNBL championship this year.
00:12:18That must be very exciting for you.
00:12:20Yeah, it definitely was. It was good fun, pretty special.
00:12:23And Steph, you debuted for the Opals as well.
00:12:26It was definitely an honour.
00:12:27And to help us qualify for the Olympics was pretty special.
00:12:30Today's challenge, gang, is a basketball game thanks to Ford.
00:12:34So you'll be playing in games of four.
00:12:36Each game will go for four minutes.
00:12:37And the two teams that win the most games during the round, Robin,
00:12:41will then have a final Ford shootout for $5,000 cash.
00:12:48We were jacked.
00:12:50Oh, yeah. We weren't going to leave anything in the tank for this one.
00:12:53Mali people!
00:13:02It was pretty crazy.
00:13:12And it was very, very clear from the beginning that Hayden and Ricky
00:13:15are very, very good.
00:13:17Hayden, Hayden!
00:13:19Oh, nice pass.
00:13:24And they did barge over a couple of people.
00:13:43There was five counter lines, so everyone was going hard.
00:13:51I did not enjoy it at all.
00:13:54Do what you gotta do.
00:14:01After a chaotic round, Robin,
00:14:03the two teams going head to head in the final are Maddie and Charlotte
00:14:07from house one and Ricky and Hayden from house three,
00:14:10making this their second showdown this morning.
00:14:14The first team to score three baskets in a shootout
00:14:16will take home the $5,000 prize.
00:14:19OK, let's go.
00:14:23That's a six!
00:14:25Here we go.
00:14:30One for the boys.
00:14:34Yes, Charlotte!
00:14:37Come on, Charlotte.
00:14:47This is for the win.
00:14:48How many have I got? How many have I got?
00:14:50Class closed.
00:14:53Good game.
00:14:55It's probably a good game for us.
00:14:57Very good.
00:14:59Yeah, boys. Yeah, boys.
00:15:01Challenge beasts.
00:15:03$5,000 cash.
00:15:05You still actually get a set of the red.
00:15:07The boys won, which rightly so,
00:15:09because they were actually the best.
00:15:11And they were bound to win.
00:15:13They did a great job.
00:15:15You're a good shooter.
00:15:17You're a good shooter.
00:15:19You're a good shooter.
00:15:21They did a great job.
00:15:23You're a good shooter.
00:15:27With the reveal of their guest ensuites
00:15:29now just hours away,
00:15:31the Blockheads all head back to site
00:15:33and get straight back into it.
00:15:37We get back from the challenge and we kind of
00:15:39see our room coming together.
00:15:41I've just got to finish sanding this
00:15:43for our professional painter Mimi
00:15:45to come in and finish the job off.
00:15:47But yeah, just sanding, painting,
00:15:49styling.
00:15:51And we're like, wow, I think we can actually
00:15:53finish early tonight.
00:16:05The boys are under control.
00:16:07The bathroom's going well.
00:16:09We're definitely going to finish.
00:16:11We're probably not going to finish the ensuite
00:16:13as well as the bathroom this week,
00:16:15but we've still made really good progress
00:16:17this week.
00:16:19But when it comes to styling and shoes,
00:16:21we wanted to have as many options as we could.
00:16:23Hello again.
00:16:25It was wise of me to head out
00:16:27and do the final shopping before the shop's closed.
00:16:29What are you looking for?
00:16:31Just everything silk.
00:16:33This is quite nice.
00:16:35Oh yeah, it's quite nice.
00:16:37Our three are making bold moves in their guest
00:16:39ensuite, which will feature pops of
00:16:41custard and mustard throughout.
00:16:43Darren's advice was
00:16:45to stop being vanilla and
00:16:47to have a bit of a crack with some colours.
00:16:49We've got to take a risk here if we're going to be able to compete
00:16:51for a win.
00:16:53Beautiful.
00:16:55I'll see you soon, man. Thanks again, dude.
00:16:59It's our first bathroom
00:17:01on the block. This one's our
00:17:03first official full week
00:17:05with our own design.
00:17:07There is obviously a little bit of pressure there.
00:17:09We've never been judged on a bathroom, so we don't
00:17:11even know what they're looking for this season.
00:17:13This is their third
00:17:15round of feedback about bathrooms,
00:17:17so you think by now they would have theirs
00:17:19perfect.
00:17:21Okay, I won't be long.
00:17:23If you need anything, call me.
00:17:25Wanting to do their best to impress the judges,
00:17:27Maddie heads out to pick up
00:17:29some more styling items.
00:17:31Oh gosh, how am I going to decide?
00:17:33They're all so pretty. My strategy when shopping
00:17:35is I don't really know how this room
00:17:37is going to pull together at the last minute, so I would
00:17:39rather have more options than
00:17:41not.
00:17:43Option one. Option two.
00:17:45If I see something that I like and I think
00:17:47I could possibly make it work, I'll just
00:17:49buy it. Of course I have to have
00:17:51four options. That's how I shop.
00:17:53Ah!
00:17:55We just need to hurry up. Time is not our friend.
00:17:57Time is not our friend.
00:17:59On Saturday,
00:18:01we can't have power tools after 3.30,
00:18:03so I was slightly stressing out because we're
00:18:05creeping up to 3.30, and we had a lot
00:18:07of work left to do with power tools.
00:18:09What have we got? 40 minutes.
00:18:11Of tools.
00:18:13Let's keep working. Come on.
00:18:15We are.
00:18:1740 minutes.
00:18:19I called Mal and was like, I need you
00:18:21to come home to help move things along.
00:18:23Hello?
00:18:25Hey, how far away are you?
00:18:27Ah, well I can come
00:18:29back if you need. Well I just need you to
00:18:31send the roof, the ceiling.
00:18:33What are you doing?
00:18:35Helping. Doesn't matter what I'm doing.
00:18:37Yeah, I know, but I've got to get stuff, so
00:18:39if it's urgent, I can come back. What are you getting?
00:18:41I'm a bit confused. I'm getting
00:18:43styling.
00:18:45Okay, well, it's kind of stressful here,
00:18:47and we're on a time crunch.
00:18:49Okay, well I'll get back as soon as possible, but I just...
00:18:51Someone's not very happy.
00:18:53I just don't
00:18:55understand what she's doing.
00:18:57Still shopping.
00:18:59I don't think she sees the value as much in shopping,
00:19:01so I think she thinks I'm just out here having a great
00:19:03time, but I also
00:19:05need to have everything that I need
00:19:07for the room, otherwise it's going to look unfinished.
00:19:11Make way for my olive tree.
00:19:13I took the whole tree.
00:19:15Ah, the bathroom.
00:19:17It's coming together really well. It's a credit to
00:19:19our builders and to the tilers in
00:19:21particular. We're in a good spot.
00:19:23We're in a good spot.
00:19:25Last week I was doing this at like
00:19:274am. No sleep, so
00:19:29I mean... You looked a lot scarier then.
00:19:31I think I need a hair tie to... Actually, do you have a
00:19:33hair tie?
00:19:37In house four, after
00:19:39only locking in a tiler yesterday,
00:19:41Carly and Brad have some catching up to do.
00:19:43I never expected to
00:19:45excel this week. Like, we just want to
00:19:47produce a room. A whole
00:19:49day and a half we're behind, but
00:19:51our tiler seems to be
00:19:53really onto it and very precise.
00:19:55Johnny said to us that
00:19:57he was going to bring a third tradie,
00:19:59which we were like, whatever needs to happen,
00:20:01we're okay with because we also want to
00:20:03present a room. So they were
00:20:05working really hard to try and get it
00:20:07done. Adding to
00:20:09the pressure, the 3.30 deadline
00:20:11for using power tools is looming
00:20:13and they still haven't finished cutting
00:20:15their tiles.
00:20:17Dan is always there
00:20:19when we're working right up to tools down.
00:20:21Every time.
00:20:23Keep cutting.
00:20:27In house five,
00:20:29Christian and Mummy are also racing
00:20:31to straighten up their shaving cabinet
00:20:33while they can still use power tools.
00:20:35Maybe a tiny bit more.
00:20:37Oh, hold it there.
00:20:39It's going to be
00:20:41loud.
00:20:45Four minutes.
00:20:47Do you need to do
00:20:49anything else before it cools down?
00:20:51Yeah, that's why I'm doing this, because it's loud.
00:20:53What about the toilet roll?
00:20:55Literally.
00:20:57Three and a half.
00:20:59We don't need the pressure.
00:21:01Just come when it's done.
00:21:03You got this.
00:21:07Three minutes.
00:21:11What? Just one hole?
00:21:13It's two holes.
00:21:15Oh, **** me.
00:21:17What?
00:21:19One minute.
00:21:23Good one.
00:21:25Alright.
00:21:27Woo!
00:21:29Good call, though. We missed that.
00:21:33That's it.
00:21:35Hey!
00:21:37Not good.
00:21:39You're guilty.
00:21:41Get the ute.
00:21:43Ute's there. Let's go.
00:21:45Offside.
00:21:47Are you going to finish?
00:21:49We'll give it a go.
00:21:51Coming up.
00:21:53Oh, wow.
00:21:55That's a lot.
00:21:57That's a hell of a lot.
00:21:59The guest en-suites leave the judges divided.
00:22:01There's a lot of wins here for me.
00:22:03They're on the money here.
00:22:05They have something special.
00:22:07For me, it just feels a bit off.
00:22:09I'm not picking up what they're putting down.
00:22:11I think that's a mistake.
00:22:19It's late Saturday afternoon,
00:22:21and with next week's being delivered tomorrow morning,
00:22:23Charlotte is frustrated that Maddie
00:22:25has spent most of the day out shopping.
00:22:29Where is she now?
00:22:31I'm stressing out.
00:22:33I told her, can we try next week,
00:22:35not go shopping on Saturday,
00:22:37because we have a lot of people in our house on Saturday
00:22:39that we need help with.
00:22:41Let me finish.
00:22:43Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
00:22:45I'll even let you have Friday.
00:22:47Charlotte, that's not fair.
00:22:49What are you doing?
00:22:51Sanding.
00:22:53I was like, can you go and sand this part of the ceiling?
00:22:55I've done the rest.
00:22:57She was like, how am I going to reach the ceiling?
00:22:59I said, don't.
00:23:01Get a ladder.
00:23:03Am I putting another ladder in here?
00:23:05Would you like to jump to the ceiling?
00:23:07What is your problem?
00:23:09You're asking stupid questions.
00:23:11How do you expect me to put another ladder in here?
00:23:13I'm going to leave that up to you.
00:23:15Charlotte, what is your problem?
00:23:17Charlotte, that's not fair.
00:23:19Let me speak.
00:23:21I'll put on your makeup.
00:23:23She said,
00:23:25I can't carry the ladder.
00:23:27Can you tell her to shut up?
00:23:29I'm telling you,
00:23:31there's an urgency to get it done.
00:23:33You need to help me by moving the ladder.
00:23:35It's right here.
00:23:37Why are you in such a mood?
00:23:39I just needed you to show initiative
00:23:41and not ask silly questions about
00:23:43how do I sand a ceiling.
00:23:45You're not getting the sense of urgency.
00:23:47We have all night.
00:23:49We'll be fine.
00:23:51The corker is coming.
00:23:53That was so hard to get that past.
00:23:55Stop being so rude.
00:23:57She told us that we did nothing.
00:23:59I did not say that.
00:24:01You're incapable of walking.
00:24:03Why can't you do anything on your own?
00:24:05I did.
00:24:07I did this bathroom on my own.
00:24:09Charlotte, without me,
00:24:11there is no room.
00:24:13If you're having a go at me for going out styling,
00:24:15would you like to win?
00:24:17Because we can deliver a room
00:24:19with no tiles and no styling if you like.
00:24:21I don't think you understand
00:24:23the weight of what I'm carrying.
00:24:25Of course I understand it.
00:24:27You're telling me not to go shopping,
00:24:29but I have to.
00:24:31Just on a Saturday.
00:24:33You can go shopping the other five days of the week.
00:24:35I'd like to see you go shopping next week.
00:24:37We can swap.
00:24:39You would hate that.
00:24:41Oh my gosh!
00:24:59Gran hasn't slept.
00:25:01Granny's fine.
00:25:03I don't know how you're doing it.
00:25:05You stayed up all night.
00:25:07Because you're a hard worker.
00:25:11Gran, I'm sorry.
00:25:13I just f***ed up your paint.
00:25:15Are you for real?
00:25:17Sorry.
00:25:19Where?
00:25:21The door.
00:25:23I didn't do it on purpose.
00:25:25You've been up all f***ing night.
00:25:27Seriously?
00:25:29You're going to throw a paintbrush?
00:25:31I was rushing.
00:25:33I've just scratched off all the paint.
00:25:35And I was like...
00:25:37Oh God.
00:25:41I was scared for my life.
00:25:43Carry one in at a time maybe.
00:25:45Sorry for arguing with you this morning.
00:25:47I think it was the lack of sleep
00:25:49which got in the way.
00:25:55Morning.
00:25:57Are you guys going to sleep?
00:25:59We are going this morning.
00:26:01Did you guys sleep last night?
00:26:03Nope.
00:26:05No sleep.
00:26:07I didn't think it was going to be done this morning.
00:26:09But now I guess anything is possible.
00:26:11Here we are.
00:26:13Let's make it happen.
00:26:15Look, we're pretty proud of where we're at.
00:26:17Like a few things
00:26:19that hopefully
00:26:21the judges can see past.
00:26:25Don't lean on the nude coasting.
00:26:27Don't touch the basin.
00:26:29Don't try the toilet.
00:26:31Oh isn't she sexy?
00:26:35But we got way further than we ever
00:26:37and we actually thought we were going to present
00:26:39just waterproofing.
00:26:41Morning ladies.
00:26:43Morning.
00:26:45How are we?
00:26:47Very tired.
00:26:49We are on track.
00:26:51We got three hours sleep
00:26:53and we really just had to do some caulking,
00:26:55some cleaning,
00:26:57a few little bits here and there
00:26:59which actually always take longer
00:27:01than you expect.
00:27:03Thanks.
00:27:07How are you this morning, H?
00:27:09Good.
00:27:11Had some sleep last night.
00:27:13There's a wind.
00:27:15Clean this up and we're good.
00:27:17Do you like your bathroom?
00:27:19Yeah, we like it.
00:27:21We're just not sure if it's got enough wow factor.
00:27:23I think just after last week's roasting
00:27:25when we thought we'd presented a pretty good kitchen.
00:27:27It's definitely
00:27:29shot our confidence and our belief
00:27:31of whether we can win a room or not for sure.
00:27:33Yeah.
00:27:39You gotta keep them separated.
00:27:41Can you grab me
00:27:43that other stuff please?
00:27:45This is the 500th time I've mopped this floor
00:27:47so let's hope it stays clean.
00:27:51Look at that. Touch up complete.
00:27:55One last tile.
00:28:03Come on.
00:28:07Almost there.
00:28:11Quick, we only got 10 seconds.
00:28:17Tools down.
00:28:19Wow!
00:28:23Nice.
00:28:25Yay!
00:28:29I'm very happy. I think it's a beautiful bathroom.
00:28:31I'm in the middle.
00:28:33I'm still a bit uninspired by it
00:28:35but I would love a 10.
00:28:37So you don't like it but now you're going to give it a 10.
00:28:39Yeah.
00:28:41Have a week, brother.
00:28:43Nice work, mate. Nicely done.
00:28:45We're going down to Aldi to prepare for
00:28:47tonight's roasting.
00:28:49Even though we've done
00:28:51probably our best bathroom or our best finish yet
00:28:53we're still prepared for a roasting
00:28:55otherwise.
00:28:57Tools down.
00:28:59I'm proud of you, baby.
00:29:01There's things that we didn't finish.
00:29:03Yeah, there is heaps of caulking.
00:29:05But I love how it's come together.
00:29:07Yeah, I'm happy with how it's come out.
00:29:09It looks really good.
00:29:17You alright?
00:29:19I'm broken.
00:29:21I feel broken.
00:29:23We volunteered to do this.
00:29:25We gave up jobs that pay us money.
00:29:35Scotty!
00:29:37Hello!
00:29:43It's alright.
00:29:45Hello, guys.
00:29:49Settle down, everybody.
00:29:51Come on.
00:29:53Good girl.
00:29:55Good evening, everybody.
00:29:57Good evening, Scotty.
00:29:59What have we got there, boys?
00:30:01Some roast potatoes, mate.
00:30:03We know you can't have a good Sunday night roast
00:30:05without some good veg.
00:30:07So before you roast us
00:30:09we've got the veg, we've got the meat here.
00:30:11You've got the veg, you're ready to go.
00:30:13The good news is
00:30:15you've done your last bathroom.
00:30:21Easily the hardest room in your house to do
00:30:23and they're all done.
00:30:25Yay!
00:30:27I bet you when you first came into this competition
00:30:29you thought, how on earth
00:30:31am I going to build a bathroom in a week?
00:30:33And now you've done three of them.
00:30:35Well, two and a half.
00:30:37Nearly, mate, nearly.
00:30:39It won't be long.
00:30:41Maddy and Charlotte, your first room on your own
00:30:43without any other input. How'd you go?
00:30:45I think we did good. We made it to Waterproof Wednesday.
00:30:47It's finished. Fantastic.
00:30:49Well done. Well, you're all proper blockheads now.
00:30:51But you're a big competitive bunch,
00:30:53aren't you?
00:30:55$10,000 from Ford
00:30:57for the best bathroom.
00:30:59Crucial money to win now.
00:31:01Let's find out who that's going to be,
00:31:03shall we?
00:31:11Let's get into it.
00:31:19Let's get into it. House one, Maddy and Charlotte.
00:31:25This week was smooth sailing.
00:31:27Yeah, good one.
00:31:31Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
00:31:33Wow. This is stunning.
00:31:35We technically
00:31:37won in terms of
00:31:39points before the penguin was here.
00:31:41The little Philip was brought out
00:31:43by Kylie and Brad. They stole
00:31:45our win, but they had a beautiful
00:31:47room, too, and they won the penguin, so they
00:31:49deserve it. So, yeah, it's fair game.
00:31:53This week, we are doing our
00:31:55first bathroom on the block,
00:31:57which is exciting. Walk in here,
00:31:59showerhead coming off that wall.
00:32:01And then this one's our first official full week
00:32:03with our own design.
00:32:05And so there is obviously a little bit
00:32:07of pressure there. And, like, I'm going to work my
00:32:09butt off, but if that's not good enough,
00:32:11then, well, soz.
00:32:13This is a new
00:32:15colour that no one's ever used
00:32:17before. So it's not a brush brass,
00:32:19but it's not brush nickel. It's, like,
00:32:21in between, like a champagne kind of colour.
00:32:23I would rather have
00:32:25more options than
00:32:27not. See, this is...
00:32:29The colouring is better for this one.
00:32:31I got every colour of green towel
00:32:33you could possibly find.
00:32:35I think I'll get this dress in case, too.
00:32:37We've
00:32:39kept the floor tile consistent
00:32:41with the other bathrooms. We have
00:32:43a vanity that's bringing timber, which is
00:32:45very much us. See, this is the first
00:32:47real look at what you guys are going to deliver
00:32:49for us. It is. Trying to mesh
00:32:51our style with theirs. What was
00:32:53previously done. What's already created. Yeah.
00:33:01I feel like it's
00:33:03a beautiful room. It feels like
00:33:05a holiday home bathroom.
00:33:07That's kind of what we're going for, so
00:33:09I'm excited to hear what the judges have to say
00:33:11about it.
00:33:17Mmm. Smells
00:33:19good.
00:33:23You can see a real shift
00:33:25in style now, can't you? Yeah.
00:33:27We've got a little bit of
00:33:29greenery, but that's the only colour
00:33:31in here.
00:33:39It's time for you to
00:33:41decide which contestants you think
00:33:43have created this week's winning room.
00:33:45All you have to do is head to the
00:33:47Block website now to cast your vote.
00:33:49And don't miss the results a little
00:33:51later in the show.
00:33:57Let's get into it. House one,
00:33:59Maddy and Charles.
00:34:07You can see a real shift in
00:34:09style now, can't you? Yeah.
00:34:11We've got a little bit of greenery,
00:34:13but that's the only colour in here.
00:34:15Everything is completely
00:34:17neutral and textured.
00:34:21And works.
00:34:25It really does.
00:34:27I find that this is a more sophisticated
00:34:29palette to what Jesse and Paige
00:34:31were doing, and so marketable
00:34:33to a very broad range of
00:34:35buyer.
00:34:37It's good.
00:34:41I think the mirror's gorgeous.
00:34:43I love the vanity. I love the marble
00:34:45on the bench top.
00:34:47Maddy did have one small issue,
00:34:49and that was where the toilet was positioned.
00:34:53Having that toilet the moment you walk in,
00:34:55as opposed to being hidden by the
00:34:57vanity, I think they're actually the wrong way around.
00:35:01As judging went on, Darren liked this
00:35:03bathroom more and more.
00:35:05There's really not a lot to
00:35:07fault. I like the tile choices, both
00:35:09in the large format is gorgeous.
00:35:11All the brass detailing.
00:35:13It's a lovely colour palette.
00:35:15It's subtle and simple and sophisticated.
00:35:17It's beautiful.
00:35:19Shona continued the praise.
00:35:21I do love their actual
00:35:23sconces there. They're beautiful.
00:35:25I love the girls' direction, and I'm really
00:35:27glad that they found their own personality
00:35:29because this is the first space that is
00:35:31truly theirs.
00:35:33This is what they're delivering. I'm really
00:35:35happy.
00:35:37And to be the youngest
00:35:39couple we've ever had on the block...
00:35:41Is it true? Yes, and to produce
00:35:43this standard. They're 22 and
00:35:4524. To produce this standard,
00:35:47I think it's absolutely
00:35:49remarkable.
00:35:51But I feel it's also
00:35:53their experience
00:35:55in doing this in their own lives, and it's
00:35:57really starting to shine through. We see so
00:35:59many people get frazzled on the block
00:36:01that these guys have just taken it to a
00:36:03duck to water because
00:36:05this is what they do. Yeah.
00:36:11Shona has come up with a new style
00:36:13name for you, Maddie and Charlotte.
00:36:15The girls inherited the style of modern
00:36:17colonial, and that's what we've been saying.
00:36:19But I'd like to give
00:36:21the girls their own style.
00:36:23And to me, this is
00:36:25classic simplicity.
00:36:27Yeah, and it's shifted for the better.
00:36:31That's it. A great start.
00:36:33I'll take that.
00:36:35Just to know
00:36:37that the judges have, like, positive
00:36:39stuff to say fills me with confidence. I'm like,
00:36:41no, I can give this a shot.
00:36:43We're on the right track. Yeah.
00:36:45Yeah.
00:36:47Uh, house two caught you grumpy.
00:36:49Hello. Let's do it.
00:36:55As always, this week has been chaotic.
00:36:57You say that every week. Because it
00:36:59always is.
00:37:03I don't see how this is modern
00:37:05Terranian. I
00:37:07particularly don't feel like this kitchen
00:37:09matches the level and quality
00:37:11and sophistication that I have seen
00:37:13in the previous rooms.
00:37:17Upstairs, we wanted to create
00:37:19a second main bedroom
00:37:21area with an en suite. So to
00:37:23get that larger en suite, we've
00:37:25taken a bit from the office.
00:37:27I want to do, like, a striped shower.
00:37:29So the stripes kind of come down the wall, go on the
00:37:31bench, and then that's a feature
00:37:33in the shower.
00:37:35I'm trying to keep it a little bit consistent
00:37:37with what we did in the last one. Similar
00:37:39cabinetry. We've got the nude co
00:37:41basins and sand colour.
00:37:43And then the flooring, what it's going to do, like a travertine
00:37:45look floor.
00:37:47It sounds really intense, but
00:37:49I think it's going to work. Terracotta
00:37:51and, like, this bone coloured tile
00:37:53which is going to be striped. Yeah, it'll pop out nice.
00:37:55Yeah.
00:37:57First prize goes
00:37:59to the green and white stripes.
00:38:01Yay!
00:38:03We won!
00:38:05Bonus point for you as well.
00:38:07We won a penguin. This is our first
00:38:09challenge that we won.
00:38:11We'll go one way or another.
00:38:13It could, couldn't it? Yeah, I'm nervous about it.
00:38:15A little bit 80s. We'd love a reef.
00:38:17I do love a stripe, and we've got stripes
00:38:19in some of the other rooms. I'm like, oh,
00:38:21we can tie that in a little bit. Sure.
00:38:23If anyone can make it work, you can, Courtney.
00:38:25So tell me where
00:38:27to put my love.
00:38:29Do I waste
00:38:31my time to do what it does?
00:38:33I want Marty
00:38:35to walk in and say,
00:38:37they're back. They've used their stone
00:38:39and it's more Mediterranean
00:38:41than ever. They're back, baby. That's all I want to hear.
00:38:43They're back, baby. Here's a ten.
00:38:45You're going to dinner with Scotty. That'll be the perfect
00:38:47scenario.
00:38:53Whoa.
00:38:57Boom. Hit them.
00:38:59Boom.
00:39:03Wow. This is
00:39:05full on.
00:39:07But
00:39:09is it for the right reasons?
00:39:15This marble and the vanity
00:39:17is probably the only thing
00:39:19that I'm loving about this bathroom.
00:39:23Because it's much bigger
00:39:25than house one, so they've taken
00:39:27space out of a second
00:39:29living room. So I think that
00:39:31fundamentally, doing that
00:39:33is a massive error from a real estate
00:39:35perspective.
00:39:39Then, when I look at everything
00:39:41that they've done, being Mediterranean,
00:39:43I feel that this
00:39:45is just pushing it too far.
00:39:47That will not translate well into
00:39:49a marketing campaign. I feel like,
00:39:51you know when you drive into Phillip Island, you go past that
00:39:53kid's maze?
00:39:57This is like
00:39:59walking into the Phillip Island maze
00:40:01and I absolutely
00:40:03hate it.
00:40:07Oh.
00:40:09What do you really think?
00:40:11Exactly that, Shaina.
00:40:13Exactly that.
00:40:15For me, it's just a miss.
00:40:17And this is now
00:40:19two weeks in a row where
00:40:21Grumpy and Courtney are actually making
00:40:23me a bit grumpy.
00:40:25I'm not picking up what they're putting down.
00:40:27Anyway,
00:40:29I've said my piece.
00:40:31I'll let you go, Darren, because I'm still trying to take it all in
00:40:33myself. Which is a problem. That's how a buyer
00:40:35feels.
00:40:39You could open any number
00:40:41of magazines right now
00:40:43and see that. It's hot.
00:40:45It looks awesome.
00:40:47It's so good
00:40:49and so exciting.
00:40:51It'll look fantastic on a marketing brochure.
00:40:53Yeah.
00:40:55Shaina was incredibly torn.
00:40:57It definitely has
00:40:59impact. I do have to agree
00:41:01for a secondary ensuite.
00:41:03This is such a waste of space.
00:41:05It's too much. But visually,
00:41:07to me, this is incredibly
00:41:09unique. The people that appreciate
00:41:11beauty will appreciate
00:41:13this house. This is
00:41:15in a league of its own.
00:41:17But for me, today, this is
00:41:19form over function. I think this floor
00:41:21plan is a big mistake in layout.
00:41:23It's a big mistake in the real estate they've taken
00:41:25from the living space. I'm going
00:41:27to stand by their design
00:41:29choice, but I'm not going to stand by their
00:41:31floor plan choice.
00:41:33Marty's major concern is about
00:41:35polarising buyers. It's about
00:41:37having a lot of bidders on auction day.
00:41:39The first few weeks, they really
00:41:41did coin Mediterranean.
00:41:43But I think now,
00:41:45it has come off course and it's not feeling
00:41:47at that same level of sophistication
00:41:49and it's starting to just
00:41:51get a little gimmicky for me.
00:41:53Darren disagreed
00:41:55on that. He thinks
00:41:57aesthetically, House 2
00:41:59is the most coherent home
00:42:01on the block this year.
00:42:03This is absolutely one of the most beautifully
00:42:05finished, luxurious
00:42:07design-centric homes
00:42:09that I've seen on
00:42:11the block ever, and it
00:42:13is definitely my favourite
00:42:15on this season.
00:42:17They've
00:42:19swung hard for
00:42:21a designer market here, and they have
00:42:23struck it out of the park.
00:42:25Mixed feedback from our
00:42:27judges. That's it though.
00:42:31That was disappointing. That was really disappointing.
00:42:33Not the way we expected it to go.
00:42:35Yeah. I'm still really proud of what we
00:42:37produced, and I still think it's a very
00:42:39sellable bathroom.
00:42:45Hope you're like an
00:42:47empress. You've got
00:42:49fire running down your cheeks.
00:42:51It's
00:42:53roast time. Have you had the oven
00:42:55on, mate? We're ready for it.
00:42:57180, fan-forced. Perfect.
00:42:59Preheated.
00:43:03This week was better than last
00:43:05week.
00:43:09We always say the kitchen is
00:43:11the heart of the home, and this heart needs a little
00:43:13bit of a defibrillator.
00:43:15Probably not the feedback you're expecting
00:43:17or hoping for, boys. That's it, fellas.
00:43:19Sorry. I like your kitchen.
00:43:21Yeah, it's definitely
00:43:23savage working your butt off
00:43:25to get a roasting on a Sunday night.
00:43:27It's a small space to work
00:43:29with, so we're going to try not to overcrowd it.
00:43:31Sort of a less is more type of
00:43:33bathroom, and I'm going to feature subway tile,
00:43:35a nice big round mirror,
00:43:37and try and mix it up with a little bit of colour.
00:43:39It's a lot of yellow tiles.
00:43:41But, you know,
00:43:43if you want to go bold, go bold.
00:43:45Go hard or go home.
00:43:47So we're going
00:43:49a nice pastel
00:43:51sort of daffodil yellow
00:43:53tile. We got absolutely hammered last week
00:43:55for styling, so confidence is low,
00:43:57but been leaning on some experts around
00:43:59me, and hopefully this week we'll turn it around.
00:44:03Vanity and base, and we've gone a little bit
00:44:05more colour pop. Oh, it's like a
00:44:07buttercup or something, is it?
00:44:09Marigold?
00:44:11There you go. Yeah, that's cool.
00:44:13Yeah, and I'm desperate to win a bathroom, Shell, because I've
00:44:15been doing bathrooms for 16 years now.
00:44:17And I'd love to be able to say that I went and did
00:44:19a bathroom on the block and won, so desperate
00:44:21to get a win.
00:44:29We nailed it this week. The finish was elite.
00:44:31Can't really
00:44:33fault the room, so I think what it's
00:44:35going to come down to this week is whether the judges
00:44:37like our bowl, our custard tart.
00:44:39Yeah, so we just want to be better than last week.
00:44:47Wow.
00:44:49Wow. Bit of yellow.
00:44:57This is a good layer.
00:44:59Great layer.
00:45:01That's a really
00:45:03nice, expansive shower.
00:45:05We have the toilet in an
00:45:07appropriate position.
00:45:09Nice big vanity with lots of
00:45:11space on either side.
00:45:13Beautiful
00:45:15nude basin. Look at that.
00:45:17Look at that form. That's a really
00:45:19gorgeous shape. I love that.
00:45:21That's cool. Very cool.
00:45:23Oh, I like that.
00:45:25Great design decisions
00:45:27in here. This is a really, really
00:45:29exciting room.
00:45:31And I'm really proud of the boys
00:45:33for their styling, because I feel like they
00:45:35have listened and they've played
00:45:37around and balanced. So I feel
00:45:39like they've upped the ante
00:45:41in their shapes, their connection,
00:45:43in their layout. I think there's a
00:45:45lot of good, good things
00:45:47in here.
00:45:49There are just a couple of things
00:45:51for me. I feel like the yellows
00:45:53are clashing.
00:45:55Because you look at that and that.
00:45:57That is a cool yellow.
00:45:59That's a warm yellow.
00:46:01And that yellow and that yellow work together.
00:46:03Maybe repaint the inside
00:46:05of the door to match the tile colour
00:46:07was their suggestion.
00:46:09I really like the layout.
00:46:11I really can't fault them.
00:46:13The materiality, it's a bit of a sway
00:46:15from the masculine sort of rooms
00:46:17that we've seen. So it's got a little bit more femininity,
00:46:19which I really like.
00:46:21That's all I'd say.
00:46:23Is it
00:46:25an amazing bathroom
00:46:27that gets the senses going? No.
00:46:29But is it
00:46:31marketable to a large range of buyers?
00:46:33Yes, it is.
00:46:35Marty thinks the circles are becoming a theme
00:46:37in your house and it's quite
00:46:39subtle and makes the house cohesive.
00:46:41The circle in the ceiling
00:46:43in the main bedroom.
00:46:45The circles in the bathrooms.
00:46:47Even their island bench top in the kitchen.
00:46:49Everything was circular so
00:46:51they've got their own little
00:46:53quirky style that they're running with
00:46:55and it's actually working for them.
00:46:57I like the materials
00:46:59palette. I like the tile decisions.
00:47:01It's well finished and it's been
00:47:03nicely painted.
00:47:05I feel like the boys' natural
00:47:07style has a sense
00:47:09of play in it and I think they need
00:47:11to embrace that and
00:47:13I think they could have something really fun and really
00:47:15popular and really saleable.
00:47:17I'd say a big tick to the
00:47:19boys because we were very hard on them last week
00:47:21and I think they've done a great job.
00:47:23And they've finished the bathroom. And it's finished!
00:47:25Yes! I'm so happy for them.
00:47:27Well that wasn't a roasting boys. That's it.
00:47:29That's it.
00:47:31I think we're on now.
00:47:33I think we're delivering quality
00:47:35spaces. I think that Hayden
00:47:37is starting to nail his design
00:47:39and his style choices so
00:47:41kudos to H for
00:47:43doing that.
00:47:53Okay, Kylie and Brad.
00:47:55A big week last week.
00:47:57Taking out the win with your amazing
00:47:59black kitchen. Let's see
00:48:01how you go this week.
00:48:05Um, I don't like
00:48:07bathrooms.
00:48:11What we
00:48:13were sort of looking at trying to achieve with
00:48:15the guest bathroom
00:48:17was just somewhere that is like a
00:48:19little bit more of a getaway. Like a little bit
00:48:21more of like maybe like a sauna or like a
00:48:23little bit more of a day spa.
00:48:25Alright, door. Toilet.
00:48:27Toilet will be this way because we can't put it that way.
00:48:29Flower. Yeah.
00:48:31I am dabbling
00:48:33in a little bit of colour. The basin.
00:48:35It's sort of a dusty pink.
00:48:37A blush pink.
00:48:41So I've got a great piece of art and it's you know this
00:48:43like moody woman that I actually think is a bit
00:48:45like me. She's got this like electric
00:48:47black smokey eye. And she's
00:48:49stroking a fish. And she's stroking a fish.
00:48:51We don't
00:48:53have a tiler. Guess what?
00:48:55Approved. Approved.
00:48:57Without a tiler. But you don't have a tiler.
00:48:59No. Do you know of anyone?
00:49:01So we're still
00:49:03sticking with the original deckton floor
00:49:05up to pretty much where the panelling
00:49:07is. Wow. And then we're going to do the timber
00:49:09tile right to the ceiling in the shower.
00:49:11And now we've finally got a
00:49:13tiler on the way. House number four
00:49:15we've got to find, yeah?
00:49:17So they started tiling at two o'clock on
00:49:19Friday afternoon.
00:49:27Like I want the judges
00:49:29to still recognise that we're
00:49:31trying to evolve.
00:49:33But we're also still bringing
00:49:35in the same of what we've done in previous
00:49:37bathrooms as well.
00:49:39I just want top five. That'd be good.
00:49:41Top five.
00:49:45Oh wow!
00:49:47That's a lot.
00:49:53That's a hell of a lot.
00:49:59This is exactly
00:50:01what I thought Carly and Brad
00:50:03were aiming for in their very first
00:50:05bathroom.
00:50:07This is the right bathroom
00:50:09for this house.
00:50:11I really like the use of the timber look tiles
00:50:13going all the way up
00:50:15that vast ceiling in the shower.
00:50:17I think
00:50:19that it's encapsulated that
00:50:21shower space so beautifully
00:50:23and it needs this balance.
00:50:25It needs that softness. Even if it's
00:50:27not a real timber, I think it's a really
00:50:29beautiful use of this tile.
00:50:31So I really, really
00:50:33like it. Marty
00:50:35however, isn't a big fan of materials
00:50:37masquerading
00:50:39as something else.
00:50:41I think that's a mistake.
00:50:43Using the timber
00:50:45look tile is
00:50:47not what I would have done. And I think the buyers
00:50:49after seeing that kitchen will feel that this
00:50:51is a totally different level when they come upstairs.
00:50:53And it's not a level up, it's a level down.
00:50:57Wow, we're all going to battle on this
00:50:59one. To me,
00:51:01this nude co-column basin is the
00:51:03hero. And it adds this
00:51:05impact of colour and
00:51:07softness. It's beautiful.
00:51:09I love this art choice
00:51:11and I love the fact that they haven't
00:51:13tiled the whole thing and they've done this board here
00:51:15which looks fantastic, the Hardy Group.
00:51:17My only problem
00:51:19is I would have taken the deck down
00:51:21all the way through to the shower because it breaks
00:51:23it up.
00:51:25But I think it's so much
00:51:27more sophisticated. I feel like they've grown in
00:51:29their sophistication from week
00:51:31one. Will everyone love it? I don't
00:51:33think so. But to me
00:51:35there's a lot of wins here for me.
00:51:38Yeah, look, for me
00:51:40it just feels a bit off.
00:51:42I think it's
00:51:44better than the first bathroom.
00:51:46The layout's good.
00:51:48Yes, it will shoot well.
00:51:50I can appreciate the basin, but
00:51:52it seems a bit random. It just seems to be
00:51:54sort of plonked there.
00:51:56And I do like the fact that
00:51:58they've got the Hardy Group here, but
00:52:00I don't know if the colour is right.
00:52:02Marty wondered
00:52:04how it is you managed to deliver
00:52:06a kitchen last week, finished
00:52:08to perfection, and then a bathroom
00:52:10this week that isn't fully grouted.
00:52:12Is the grouting not
00:52:14done? Not in the shower.
00:52:16It's missing its grouting.
00:52:18The finish is up there, and they
00:52:20really stand out.
00:52:22It's hard to
00:52:24feel like you're in a completed room
00:52:26when it's just not.
00:52:28What happened?
00:52:30We had a couple of unfortunate
00:52:32occurrences with toilets, so
00:52:34we were lucky to even get a toilet
00:52:36this week. Rightio.
00:52:38I've just got one tip for Carly and Brad.
00:52:40It's attention to fine
00:52:42detail, because
00:52:44I keep going to the Column
00:52:46Basin as the hero, because that's what it is.
00:52:48It's the bright, shining light
00:52:50in this room. I'm looking at the shampoo
00:52:52and conditioner in this lolly
00:52:54pink, and it detracts
00:52:56from what the basin is doing.
00:52:58If you've got a hero, leave it alone.
00:53:00You don't have to match it with anything else.
00:53:02In finishing,
00:53:04Darren Palmer said there's a lot to love
00:53:06in this room.
00:53:08They're in the game now.
00:53:10This look and this style
00:53:12sets them apart from the other houses.
00:53:14It defines this house.
00:53:16They've done this beautifully in terms of
00:53:18the materials palette and linking those spaces
00:53:20together. They're on the money
00:53:22here. They have something special.
00:53:24They really do.
00:53:26I 100% agree.
00:53:28That's it. Well done.
00:53:33Couldn't ask for better than that.
00:53:46OK, here we go. Christian and Mimi.
00:53:53This week
00:53:55started off a nightmare
00:53:57and ended up OK.
00:53:59This is our last wet room.
00:54:03We're doing the guest en suite,
00:54:05which is downstairs for us.
00:54:07And it is a small bathroom,
00:54:09compared to the ones that we've already done.
00:54:11To be honest, I'm feeling
00:54:13really uninspired. I have design block
00:54:15and I have no idea what to do.
00:54:21OK, I'm going to go floor to ceiling.
00:54:23I'm going to do this entire wall a feature tile.
00:54:25We've done floor to ceiling tiles
00:54:27everywhere in all of our other bathrooms.
00:54:29I thought, why don't we just do that
00:54:31again? Because it's such a teeny weeny
00:54:33bathroom.
00:54:35Can we try the same stone that we had
00:54:37in the first bathroom? We kept all
00:54:39of our topware consistent. We've used the same
00:54:41vanity in different colours
00:54:43in all three bathrooms that we've done. Different colours,
00:54:45different stones. Yeah, I think
00:54:47that's cool. You keep it consistent
00:54:49but then you change it up a little bit.
00:54:51Wow, amazing. OK,
00:54:53we'll do that.
00:54:55We're definitely going to make waterproof Wednesday.
00:54:57Waterproof Wednesday.
00:55:01We just thought, if this can serve as a pool,
00:55:03we're thinking about doing a little shower out here as well.
00:55:05When you go to the beach, you can use this as an entryway
00:55:07to the house as well. That's a good idea.
00:55:09A bit of a tropical mudroom. Yes, exactly.
00:55:11Coming back from that,
00:55:13you can call it a sandroom. Yeah.
00:55:15Do you like that? That's a great idea.
00:55:17I just made that up. There you go.
00:55:27I'm happy with
00:55:29the room.
00:55:31I just don't go in there and I'm like, oh my god.
00:55:33I have the opposite
00:55:35feeling. You said it's his favourite bathroom.
00:55:37I actually think it's my favourite one that we've
00:55:39done.
00:55:51Now this
00:55:53is what I like.
00:55:55This
00:55:57is clean,
00:55:59marketable. It's just so
00:56:01well put together.
00:56:03Shona praised the colour choices throughout
00:56:05the room. I love
00:56:07the beautiful blue and green
00:56:09and they've done, you know, the blue basin and they've done
00:56:11the green in the vanity.
00:56:13But she felt there was something
00:56:15about this off-centre ceiling
00:56:17panelling that's disconnected.
00:56:19I love it. I liked
00:56:21it in the other room because it balanced with
00:56:23the way the vanity went. I'm just sort of like
00:56:25it feels a bit
00:56:27odd because it's off-centre to
00:56:29the vanity. If you're going to do it, you have to line
00:56:31it up with something. It just
00:56:33doesn't line up with anything here.
00:56:35I really
00:56:37dislike it. Dislike?
00:56:39I really don't like it.
00:56:41It just, it's an inclusion for the sake
00:56:43of an inclusion that doesn't relate to anything
00:56:45else. I just, I have a problem with
00:56:47it. It makes the room
00:56:49imbalanced.
00:56:51For me, it actually warms up the room
00:56:53and I really like it.
00:56:55It tells the story of the
00:56:57house because it's consistent with
00:56:59all the other bathrooms and buyers do love
00:57:01consistency. He's all about
00:57:03the real estate, Marty Fox. He's all about
00:57:05selling.
00:57:07Jarrod thinks there is a lot to like
00:57:09in this bathroom.
00:57:11I like the consistency. I like that on their
00:57:13marketing brochure, on their website,
00:57:15on social media, that it's going to look like
00:57:17each room belongs to each other. The bathrooms
00:57:19belong to the bedrooms, the bedrooms
00:57:21belong to the kitchen, the kitchens belong to
00:57:23these bathrooms. I like that they have
00:57:25tweaked each colour palette as well.
00:57:27There's, you know, it's not the same as the other
00:57:29bathrooms. This is, you know, that teal green.
00:57:31But
00:57:33there are details in here that I don't
00:57:35love. I think the basin's too big.
00:57:37There should have been more bench space.
00:57:39You then notice that the mirror is not
00:57:41installed properly. It's not
00:57:43even level.
00:57:45Oh my gosh.
00:57:47It's actually not in properly.
00:57:49That's very wonky.
00:57:51See, the attention to detail and fixing,
00:57:53that's actually not straight.
00:57:55He thinks that it seems like
00:57:57your attention to detail is a bit
00:57:59off this week. And
00:58:01I'm underwhelmed by
00:58:03this aesthetic
00:58:05purely because
00:58:07I have seen it before
00:58:09in this house.
00:58:11Shona
00:58:13agreed saying she thinks this bathroom
00:58:15is a bit too formulaic
00:58:17for the competition.
00:58:19It's not excited me because I've seen
00:58:21them do it. It's rinse, lather,
00:58:23repeat. Is it a wow factor?
00:58:25Absolutely not. Does it work?
00:58:27Absolutely yes. Is it consistent?
00:58:29100%.
00:58:31But what does excite
00:58:33me is their consistency
00:58:35because come
00:58:37auction week, I want to see a house
00:58:39that actually fits in
00:58:41its whole and not have rooms
00:58:43that are jarring. And I find that House 5
00:58:45really has nailed
00:58:47their consistency. They've delivered something
00:58:49saleable and something that is desirable
00:58:51but there's just
00:58:53little things I think
00:58:55that go against this
00:58:57otherwise very nice
00:58:59room. Very nice.
00:59:01Very nice.
00:59:03But is nice going to be good enough to win week
00:59:057 on the block?
00:59:07That's it. Scores.
00:59:09I've
00:59:11said the whole week
00:59:13this room has
00:59:15me felt lacklustre.
00:59:17I was uninspired and I
00:59:19knew it. Our builder called it hump
00:59:21week. It was hard.
00:59:23I think I was feeling it.
00:59:25I feel like a camel's trotted on my head.
00:59:27A camel? Yeah, hump.
00:59:29Oh, okay.
00:59:39Okay, scores.
00:59:41Here we go. Darren Palmer,
00:59:43Maddie and Charlotte.
00:59:45It's a lovely colour palette.
00:59:47It's subtle and simple and sophisticated.
00:59:49It's beautiful.
00:59:53It's poo.
00:59:55You're kidding.
00:59:57No.
00:59:59No.
01:00:01Courtney
01:00:03and Grumpy. You could open
01:00:05any number of magazines
01:00:07right now and see that.
01:00:11Ricky and Hayden.
01:00:13Great design decisions
01:00:15in here. This is a really, really
01:00:17exciting room.
01:00:21Yeah, good idea.
01:00:23Colin and Brad. This look
01:00:25and this style sets them apart from the
01:00:27other houses. They're on the money.
01:00:33Is it a six?
01:00:35Eight and a half.
01:00:37It's quite a cycle.
01:00:39Christian and Mimi.
01:00:41I like the consistency. I like
01:00:43that on their marketing brochure
01:00:45that it's going to look like each room belongs
01:00:47to each other.
01:00:53Here we go. Is that your first nine, boys?
01:00:55Second. Second.
01:00:57We'll take it. You'll take it.
01:00:59Who's counting?
01:01:01Me.
01:01:03Yeah.
01:01:05Mighty Fox. Here we go.
01:01:07Matt and Charlotte.
01:01:09This is a more sophisticated palette
01:01:11to what Jessie and Paige were doing
01:01:13and so marketable to a
01:01:15very broad range of buyer.
01:01:21I don't want to take your breath away.
01:01:23Courtney and Grumpy.
01:01:25This is like walking into the Phillip Island maze.
01:01:27It's an optical illusion
01:01:29and I absolutely
01:01:31hate it.
01:01:41Is it an amazing bathroom?
01:01:43No, but
01:01:45is it marketable to a large
01:01:47range of buyers? Yes, it is.
01:01:49I'm
01:01:51going to
01:01:53wait.
01:01:55I'm going to win.
01:01:59Courtney and Brad.
01:02:01It's missing its grouting.
01:02:03The finishes aren't there and they
01:02:05really stand out.
01:02:11Christian and Mimi.
01:02:13Now this
01:02:15is what I like. This is
01:02:17clean, marketable.
01:02:25Rightio.
01:02:27Phil's available.
01:02:29Not today.
01:02:31I think I've been eating the roast.
01:02:33Shayna Blaze.
01:02:35Matty and Charlotte.
01:02:37I love the girls' direction and I'm really
01:02:39glad that they found their own personality.
01:02:41Courtney and Grumpy.
01:02:43For a secondary en suite.
01:02:45This is such a waste of space.
01:02:47It's too much.
01:02:53Nikki and Hayden.
01:02:55I feel like they've
01:02:57upped the ante in their shapes,
01:02:59their connection, in their layout.
01:03:01Courtney and Brad.
01:03:03Will everyone love it? I don't think so.
01:03:05But to me, there's
01:03:07a lot of wins here for me.
01:03:09Christian and Mimi.
01:03:11Is it a wow factor? Absolutely not.
01:03:13Will it work? Absolutely yes.
01:03:17Okay, here we go.
01:03:19Winner of week seven on the blog, Bathroom Week,
01:03:21and taking home $10,000
01:03:23from Ford is... Here we go.
01:03:29Matty and Charlotte.
01:03:35I'm so excited.
01:03:37I still don't believe it.
01:03:39This is not our room. I'm like, we won a room
01:03:41block. This is something that we used to watch on TV
01:03:43and now we're actually...
01:03:45won. Well done.
01:03:59I guess there's some people you just
01:04:01don't get along with and
01:04:03they rubbed us up the wrong way, so
01:04:05I don't trust them.
01:04:07They put up a great front, but
01:04:09we know there's something brewing.
01:04:13Matty and Charlotte scored 27.5
01:04:15points from the judges for their guest
01:04:17en suite.
01:04:19There was no roast for house three this week
01:04:21with the boys taking out second place
01:04:23on 25 points.
01:04:25Third place was tied with both Christian
01:04:27and Mimi and Kylie and Brad
01:04:29on 24.5 points.
01:04:31And Courtney and Grant's bold design
01:04:33choice didn't quite pay off,
01:04:35coming in last place on 24
01:04:37points.
01:04:39Congratulations, girls.
01:04:41First room on your own
01:04:43and you take out the win. That must feel great.
01:04:45Yeah, it does. And you're going to have
01:04:47a fantastic forward getaway with me
01:04:49tomorrow night. I've got some very
01:04:51special guests and some very
01:04:53special surprises as
01:04:55well. You are going to love it.
01:04:59I'm like, they liked it.
01:05:01And technically we kind of won last
01:05:03week too, so I'm like,
01:05:05by score, it was two weeks in a row
01:05:07by the judges.
01:05:09That makes me so happy. It gives me so much more confidence
01:05:11because that really is our style,
01:05:13that room up there.
01:05:15Now, gang, next week is going to be
01:05:17a huge one.
01:05:19So get some rest
01:05:21and get prepared.
01:05:23Good luck. Good night.
01:05:25See ya. Thanks, guys.
01:05:29Congrats, girls.
01:05:31No roasting.
01:05:33I'm proud of you boys.
01:05:35It was our lowest score
01:05:37to date, obviously coming last.
01:05:39The more the weeks go on, like, the
01:05:41less confident I am.
01:05:43Yeah, it seems like we started
01:05:45really high.
01:05:47Hey, relax.
01:05:51I know, but I'm just like,
01:05:53you do all these all-nighters and then you just feel
01:05:55****ed.
01:05:57It'll be worse at the end.
01:05:59Sorry.
01:06:01Kylie and Brad didn't, like,
01:06:03clap or didn't have any kind of response.
01:06:05Like, the common decency to,
01:06:07like, be a good sport would have
01:06:09been nice.
01:06:11You're telling me the girls have a winning bathroom?
01:06:15Their first actual room and it wins?
01:06:17It was only Kylie and Brad who didn't
01:06:19say congratulations. Everyone else said congratulations.
01:06:21But to have someone
01:06:23completely ignore you,
01:06:25not even crack a smile,
01:06:27that is, like, a bit hurtful because, like,
01:06:29what have I done to get that kind of
01:06:31response, you know?
01:06:33I think they're the most hated people on the block at the moment.
01:06:35Yeah, literally.
01:06:37So I just have to lose every week just to be friends with you?
01:06:39No, I don't know. I think
01:06:41they're the most overly warm.
01:06:43We have no idea who the **** these girls are.
01:06:45Oh, well.
01:06:47If people can't be happy for us,
01:06:49then that's not my problem.
01:06:51Next week...
01:06:53Ah, it's the exciting week.
01:06:55It's a very, very important room
01:06:57that we need to get right.
01:06:59Living and Dining brings some of the biggest rooms
01:07:01we've ever seen on the block.
01:07:03I'm nervous for this week, to be honest. It's a massive room.
01:07:05Whoever wins this week is whoever finishes.
01:07:07I have to put in a light order. I have to look for lights.
01:07:09I have to look for the TV unit.
01:07:11Why?
01:07:13Issues with materials
01:07:15causes major setbacks.
01:07:17There's no plaster.
01:07:19It's touch and go whether we get something today or not.
01:07:21For everyone or...? For every house.
01:07:23It is an absolute disaster.
01:07:25Also, this year's sisters
01:07:27meet last year's all-stars
01:07:29Liberty and Eliza.
01:07:31God, you look so much nicer
01:07:33than what we used to look like.
01:07:35Just to hang out with them.
01:07:37It was so fun.
01:07:39And when the rooms are revealed...
01:07:41It's unbelievable.
01:07:43Our Phillip Island is this.
01:07:45The winner will be
01:07:47rolling in it.
01:07:49A 30 grand week. Wow.
01:07:51Our room reveal galleries
01:07:53are now open for inspection
01:07:55exclusively at the block website.
