Outlook Exclusive with Former Deputy CM of Haryana Dushyant Chautala

For #JannayakJannataParty (JJP) leader #DushyantChautala, the road to re-election from the #UchanaKalanAssembly constituency is far from smooth. The former #Haryana deputy chief minister became a key political figure after the last Assembly polls when it helped the #BJP return to power in the agrarian state.

His party faced backlash when it did not support the farmers during their protests against the now-repealed farm laws.

In an interview with Outlook, #Chautala shares his thoughts on the October 5 elections, his partnership with #ChandrashekharAzad's Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), and the challenges that lie ahead for him.

00:30Dushyant ji, you are fighting the elections with the Azad Samaj Party, why have you allianced with them?
00:41When we went to Rajasthan, before that their alliance was with Hanuman Baniwal ji's RLP.
00:48We always wanted two youths who will lead the state for the next 40-45 years, how will they lead the state?
00:57I feel that the youths will have a huge contribution in the development of the state and the country.
01:04And I feel that the role of the Kisan Kamere is very big in that contribution.
01:09And the Kisan Kamere alliance will give the state a new direction for the future, which is of progress.
01:18I am very happy that we have converted SC Chopal into a digital library and 18 kids have got jobs in the village.
01:28This is a change that we have wanted for a very long time.
01:35And the youth will be educated when the country moves forward.
01:37In 2019, you had an alliance with BJP, that alliance was broken.
01:43Do you feel that you have been cheated?
01:47This was our post-poll alliance and it was for the stable government of the state.
01:52When there was no agreement on seat sharing in our Lok Sabha, both the parties decided to separate.
01:59And the decision to separate decided that we will fight 10 Lok Sabhas and they will fight 10 Lok Sabhas.
02:05We fought.
02:07All the vote shares were divided between India and NDA.
02:11And it was not divided in Haryana.
02:13You take UP, you take Punjab, you take Rajasthan.
02:17People voted in two parties.
02:19One party was of the NDA and the other was of the government.
02:23And there was a whole party to save the constitution, to save the country, to save minority rights.
02:29In this way, the divided vote was consolidated and India was blocked.
02:36The alliance that you are doing with the ASP, will the votes be distributed?
02:43I don't think so. Neither you nor I have to distribute the votes.
02:47The voter has to use the vote.
02:51And if the voter does it with dedication, if the voter thinks who is responsible for his progress, then he will vote for our alliance.
02:58You and Mr. Chandrashekhar are both 36 years old and both are very popular among the youth.
03:04Do you think this will be a very important issue for Haryana?
03:11Let's talk about youth unemployment.
03:13We have done it in Haryana.
03:15In 4.5 years, we were able to bring an investment of 44,000 crores in Haryana.
03:20And that investment was not small.
03:23A company like Maruti, which left Haryana, brought Maruti back.
03:29Maruti is investing 15,000 crores in Haryana.
03:33And they are investing in the world's largest car manufacturing plant in Karkhoda.
03:37They are planning to build 10 lakh cars in one plant.
03:41I agree that we have achieved it.
03:43But employment does not happen in one day.
03:45The Maruti factory that was built in 1992, its employment came in 1998.
03:51The acquisition that took place in 1982, the first car was manufactured in 1988.
03:58We gave them land in 2022.
04:00Employment will start in 2025.
04:02And in the first factory, they have promised 4,500 jobs.
04:08After 4,500 jobs, when their phase 2 and phase 3 will come,
04:14about 18,000 to 19,000 people will work there in three installments.
04:18The city will be built on its own.
04:20This is the development.
04:22A few days ago, Ranjit Chautala left the BJP and is fighting independently.
04:30Do you have anything to say about that?
04:33We are in cooperation with them.
04:35Our party has also decided to support them as a coalition.
04:43You have received a lot of votes on the JAT vote base.
04:51My vote base is youth.
04:56And the youth are 55% voters of Haryana.
05:02If I can bring those 55% voters together,
05:07and if two youths can form a coalition of 1 and 11,
05:11then you can see how Haryana will progress.
05:16There was some anger.
05:19Farmers were against the BJP.
05:23The youth were against the BJP in Haryana.
05:27There was some anger.
05:29Some people were angry with you as well.
05:32Can all the readers of Outlook be happy with you?
05:36No, no.
05:37Some will be angry, some will be happy.
05:39But your readers are our voters.
05:41If I can make my 2,00,000-4,000 voters happy,
05:45then I will be able to win.
05:47If they don't form a coalition,
05:49and if there is some disagreement among them,
05:52they will go against me.
05:53And many times, there are situations like farmer agitation,
05:57where people get angry.
05:59And this is not the first time.
06:01Today, after 10 years of the TRS administration,
06:03how did they go out of Andhra?
06:05So, there will be political parties.
06:08People will support you and stay away from you.
06:11But you will have to work hard for those voters.
06:14We are ready.
06:16We are working with that strength.
06:18And by working with that strength,
06:20I think this time,
06:22more than ever,
06:23our members will be elected.
06:26Is there any expansion plan for the BJP?
06:30We have fought elections in Rajasthan.
06:32We were very successful.
06:34And in the coming days,
06:37I think we will go wherever we need to go.
06:40Today, Chandrashekhar is with us.
06:42If he needs to go to UP, we will go.
06:45If we feel we can do something together in Delhi,
06:47we will go to Delhi.
06:48This is just the beginning.
06:50I remember, Chaudhary Devilal ji
06:52brought Kashiram ji from Punjab
06:54and got him elected in Haryana.
06:56And at that time,
06:58one BSP of that time
07:00and three Samta Party of that time
07:02won the seat.
07:03And after that,
07:04Kashiram ji left Punjab
07:06and went to UP.
07:08And in UP, he got so much support
07:10from the public that
07:12with the help of BJP,
07:14Mayawati ji became the Chief Minister of the country.
07:16So when did politics take a new turn?
07:18Who used to say that Modi ji will become
07:20the Prime Minister of the country from Gujarat for the third time?
07:22Hemanto Biswa
07:24was the leader of Assam Ganapurishad.
07:26And today he is the Chief Minister of the BJP.
07:28Today, the TDP which the BJP
07:30had left behind,
07:32has come under the TDP rule.
07:34He came with the BJP.
07:36The JDU which he had left behind,
07:38he went with the RJD
07:40and came back to the BJP.
07:42Shiv Sena
07:44whose mentality was never of the Congress,
07:46he formed an alliance with them.
07:48Aam Aadmi Party
07:50which was born against the Congress,
07:52is still a supporter of the Congress
07:54in the India Alliance.
07:56So I think the country has seen
07:58a lot of political changes.
08:00I think the country has seen it.
08:04If a party from the BJP or Congress
08:06forms a new government
08:08in Haryana,
08:10will you form an alliance?
08:12I believe that if someone
08:14becomes our ally in our government,
08:16we will think about it.
08:18And this time will tell.
08:20Right now, our job is to work hard for 14 days.
08:22And after working hard for 14 days,
08:24we will take this target and move forward.
08:26That how we can
08:28elect more MLA's
08:30of the JDU and RJD
08:32and become
08:34the central face of the next government.
08:36The government is ours,
08:38anyone can be our ally.
