Prince William ‘tyres’ his best with Earthshot eco-wheel

  • last week
The Prince of Wales fitted a car with an eco-tyre made by one of the finalists from his Earthshot Prize and was dubbed a “professional” for his efforts. William got to grips with the 17-inch alloy wheel fitted with a tyre made by ENSO, a start-up shortlisted last year in the Clean Our Air category of William’s global environmental competition. The company has announced a three-year partnership with Uber, and thousands of drivers in the UK and US will be offered access to ENSO tyres. Report by Covellm. 00:00It's an honor to meet you.
00:25If we show them how scalable this is, I think there's, it's undoubted that we would have
00:32interest in building this in the UK.
00:33Looking very dapper today.
00:34Oh, thank you.
00:35You too.
00:36I try, I try, I try.
00:37We're going to change some tires.
00:38First and foremost, would you like to say hello to Simi?
00:39We'll do the first round and you just follow along.
00:40Have you changed many tires before?
00:41Oh, loads of times.
00:42This should be a walk-in car.
00:43Not necessarily with quite as much pressure as this.
00:44Oh yeah.
00:45Hey, let's go.
00:47Make sure the tire doesn't fall off.
00:48Of course not.
00:49I've got it.
00:50I've got it.
00:51How big is it now?
00:52There you go.
00:53Great job.
00:54Just to deal with life and the road.
00:55Now I'm going to put it back on.
00:56So I'm going to ask for some assistance.
00:57When I put it on, can you just pull?
00:58Yeah.
00:59Oh.
01:00Oh.
01:01Oh.
01:02Oh.

01:36Yeah.
01:37Oh, thanks.
01:38I don't want to do that much.
01:39No, you won't.
01:40You know you've been to the gym, you know.
01:43You both look like you have.
01:44And the next one, here we go.
01:50Fantastic.
01:51There you go.
01:51You've got some spare time on the homework of us.
01:53Unless they want to drive it just yet.
01:54Oh, no, no.
01:55I'm going to secure it after.
01:56Yeah, make sure there's no problem.
01:57Yeah, but it looks very good.
01:59Even with an electric motor, that's not very good.
02:00You never know what you're doing, yeah?
02:01Riding around, giving it a chuck, you could.
02:03I'll give you a chuck later.
02:06Oh, thank you.
02:09Honestly, on an electric car, it can become faster than a normal car.
02:13So ultimately, the critical thing is to advance the technology for electric vehicles,
02:17which is the weight and torque,
02:18and increase the time that the tire lasts on the vehicle.
02:22That increases that.
02:23You double the durability of a tire, you halve the pollution.
02:26And this is actual pollution?
02:28This is actual tire crumb worn down to represent, basically, the pollution.
02:36California, if we focus on tire pollution.
02:38Yeah.
02:39Don't do this.
02:40It's not a new result.
02:41It's not a great discovery.
02:42So we're going to watch it.
02:43We're going to have to watch this car.
02:45We're going to start with it.
02:49Oh, we're looking at him.
02:50Thank you very much.
02:51Thank you so much.
02:52Have a lovely day.
02:56Thank you so much.
02:57You've done well done.
02:59Thank you so much.
03:00Thank you very much.
03:03So, we'll do that.
