Innoscentia developed sensor-based analogue and digital indicators of real time food status to prolong shelf and consumption time, thereby reducing waste costs and food waste.
Transcript
00:00A large reason to why we see so much food waste is that we're not measuring the shelf
00:13life of food accurately enough, and we're not providing consumers with the right information
00:18for them to make decisions.
00:31We have developed what we call dynamic shelf life labels.
00:35It's a label printed with our reactive ink that reacts with the gases emitted in the
00:40degradation process of food.
00:42The label is introduced inside a package and gives a color reaction that guides the end
00:47consumer whether or not the food product is good to eat.
00:51So when the food degrades, it lets go of gases that provokes a reaction in our ink, and it
00:57creates a color shift that you can follow from the outside.
01:02Right now we're wasting about 20% of all the meat that we produce on an annual basis, which
01:07is equivalent to about 5.7 billion animals that are bred, fed, and slaughtered to become
01:13waste.
01:22We are now preparing for our first commercial pilot test.
01:27Once that is done, we are ready to take this global as fast as we possibly can.
