00:00Tuesday night's debate in New York between JD Vance and Tim Walz was mostly a cordial
00:05affair.
00:07The evening started off with a handshake and a discussion on the latest tensions in the
00:11Middle East, with both candidates agreeing on the threat to Israel posed from Iran.
00:16Shots, however, were fired soon by the Democratic nominee when it came to who's going to uphold
00:21the constitution.
00:24He is still saying he didn't lose the election.
00:26I would just add to that.
00:27Did he lose the 2020 election?
00:29Tim, I'm focused on the future.
00:31Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 COVID situation?
00:39That is a damning non-answer.
00:41Immigration and the Ohio town of Springfield made its way into Tuesday's debate after Donald
00:46Trump's assertion during his face-off with Kamala Harris that immigrants there were eating
00:51pets.
00:53In Springfield, Ohio, and in communities all across this country, you've got schools that
00:58are overwhelmed.
00:59You've got hospitals that are overwhelmed.
01:01You have got housing that is totally unaffordable because we brought in millions of illegal
01:06immigrants.
01:07I believe Senator Vance wants to solve this.
01:09But by standing with Donald Trump and not working together to find a solution, it becomes
01:14a talking point.
01:15And when it becomes a talking point like this, we dehumanize and villainize other human beings.
01:20JD Vance's claim Haitian migrants were illegal was fact-checked as false by moderators.
01:27And as he continued to speak, his mic was eventually cut.
01:30Donald Trump's running mate sought to use his time on the debate stage to soften his
01:35image after coming under fire for his extreme views on abortion.
01:39First of all, I never supported a national ban.
01:41I did during when I was running for Senate in 2022 talk about setting some minimum national
01:45standard.
01:46Kamala Harris's running mate was eager to brush off misstatements he'd made in the past
01:51on whether he was in China during the Tiananmen Square massacre.
01:55The recent reports he got there later.
01:57Can you explain the discrepancy?
02:00All I said on this was I got there that summer and misspoke.
02:03Tuesday's debate comes nearly a month before November's election.
02:07And despite the civility seen on stage, the performance is unlikely to make an impact.
