00:00He won the Democratic primaries earlier this year, but that does not make Joe Biden the
00:04party's official candidate.
00:07He still needs to be endorsed at the Democratic National Convention, taking place on the 19th
00:11of August in Chicago.
00:13Although Biden has indicated that he has no plans to leave the campaign, whispers have
00:18been rippling among Democrats about potentially replacing him.
00:22But it's far from a consensus.
00:24California Governor Gavin Newsom says the party stands by Biden, telling MSNBC that
00:29such talk is unhelpful.
00:31You don't turn your back because of one performance.
00:34What kind of party does that?
00:37The only plausible scenario to replace Joe Biden as the Democrats' official candidate
00:41would be for the president to withdraw voluntarily and allow the delegates voting to choose someone
00:46else.
00:47In the scenario that he were to step aside, it would create a scuffle among Democrats,
00:52as there is no mechanism to anoint a successor.
00:56This notion among Democrats that we should replace Biden simply proves my point, that
01:01the Democrats have absolutely no spine, they panic and run at the first sign of adversity.
01:09They are rushing and panicking at the first sign of danger.
01:14The party has, however, already announced that it will hold a virtual roll call to formally
01:18nominate Biden before in-person voting begins in Chicago.
01:22The exact date for the roll call has not yet been set.
