00:00Italy has called for the acceleration of the implementation of the U-Space, an advanced system for the management of low-cost drone traffic, especially in view of major events such as the Jubilee 2025 and the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina 2026.
00:18This is the appeal launched during the U-Space workshop held in Rome, where experts and institutional representatives discussed the challenges related to the security and integration of drones in the airspace.
00:30The low-cost airspace is fundamental for the entire national strategy on advanced air mobility, which will not only allow electric drones to carry people and drastically change everything that is air mobility, but will also allow drones to make deliveries, especially important deliveries that can be of medical goods, tumoral medicines or even defibrillators.
00:58The U-Space system, regulated by the European Union, allows the strict monitoring and control of drones, avoiding illicit use, which would be a threat to national security. During the event, the importance of a system structured for the management of the growing number of operational drones was emphasized, which in Italy has already exceeded 100,000, with a particular focus on the need for investment in training for professionals in the sector.
01:25This is an important event for ENAV because it is an opportunity to focus on the relationship between the management of conventional flight and the management of low-cost flight. It is an opportunity to focus on the state of the art in the relationship between ENAV, which is the mother company, and D-Flight, which is a controlled company that specializes in remote-controlled flying vehicles.
01:52Collaboration between companies such as Strada AI, which specializes in the management of drone flight, and institutional realities is crucial to face future challenges.
02:22The workshop also highlighted the central role of advanced aerial mobility, a rapidly evolving sector that could transform urban and interurban transport, contributing to economic development and the security of the country.
