00:00Luke Bryan is weighing in on how Beyonce was snubbed by the CMA Awards.
00:05The country music star recently sat down for an interview on Andy Cohen's Sirius XM radio show,
00:11where Cohen asked him about his thoughts on Beyonce's lack of CMA nominations for her Cowboy
00:15Carter album. Obviously Beyonce made a country album and Beyonce has a lot of fans out there
00:25that have her back and if she doesn't get something they want, man, they come at you
00:31as fans should do." While the Play It Again singer is, quote,
00:34all for everybody coming in and making country albums, he said that doesn't necessarily mean
00:39they'll automatically get nominated for their work. Just because I make one, I don't get any
00:44nominations. A lot of great music is sometimes overlooked. A lot of great music's overlooked,
00:52sometimes you don't get nominated. Bryan then shared a theory on why
00:56the Country Music Association voting body may have passed on the Texas Hold'em singer.
01:00He said,
01:01"...everybody loved that Beyonce made a country album. Nobody's mad about it. But where things
01:06get a little tricky, if you're gonna make country albums, come into our world and be
01:10country with us a little bit." He went on to say this,
01:12Like Beyonce can do exactly what she wants to. She's probably the biggest star in music. But
01:21come to an awards show and high-five us and have fun and get in the family too. And I'm not saying
01:27she didn't do that. I didn't know. I didn't ever see, you know. I understand.
01:30Ahead of the release of Cowboy Carter back in March, Beyonce wrote on Instagram that the album
01:35was, quote, born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed in the
01:39country music genre and it was very clear that I wasn't. In 2016, Beyonce received hateful comments
01:45from some country music fans after she performed Daddy Lessons with the Chicks at the 50th Annual
01:50CMA Awards. For more on this story, go to THR.com. This is The Hollywood Reporter News.
