You'll never see these movies quite the same way again.

00:00These movie mistakes certainly seem obvious when they're pointed out like this
00:05Even though the overwhelming majority of viewers have seemingly been too wrapped up in all the excitement to notice
00:11And in some cases, you have to wonder what the cast and crew were thinking
00:15During both shooting and editing, that they ended up missing something so blatant
00:21All the same, they are well and truly in your brain now
00:24Because I am Gareth, this is WhatCulture
00:27And here are 10 more movie mistakes you can't believe you didn't spot
00:3210. The lifeguard's magic shoe jaws
00:35Steven Spielberg's jaws is such a perfect organism of a movie
00:40That it's incredibly easy to forgive its flaws
00:42Or perhaps even gloss over them entirely
00:45Case in point, almost exactly halfway through the film
00:48The shark enters a pond area and attacks a man who is out rowing a boat near Michael Brody
00:54The man's boat is overturned and he falls into the water with the shark fast approaching him
00:59At which point we can clearly see that the man is barefoot and definitely not wearing any shoes
01:05Except a few shots later when the shark devours him
01:08And we see his severed leg hit the bottom of the ocean floor
01:11He's very clearly wearing a white tennis shoe
01:14Considering how iconic and, to kids of a certain age, traumatizing
01:18The shot of the severed leg actually is
01:21It's honestly surprising that more viewers haven't noticed this discrepancy over the years
01:26We can assume there was probably some miscommunication between Spielberg and the movie's prop team here
01:31Or that the actor playing the victim simply removed his shoes without anyone noticing
01:36But we have now
01:389. Aragorn's vanishing sword, The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers
01:42Now this one's really weird
01:44And will forever change how you view the battle of Helm's Deep in the second Lord of the Rings movie
01:50Early on in the battle when Aragorn signals his archers to fire
01:53He does so with his sword
01:55Which strangely vanishes into thin air on the downstroke
01:59As Aragorn swings it towards the screen
02:02Only the hilt remains visible in his hand
02:05With the actual blade components of the weapon magically nowhere to be seen
02:09Fans have theorized that this was most likely a VFX-related gaffe
02:13That part of the shot was masked to enhance the background of the scene
02:16Likely adding more archers behind Aragorn
02:19With the sword's blade accidentally getting erased also
02:22For a film that's so meticulously crafted, it's quite the odd mistake
02:26And yet the moment passes quickly enough that it's relatively easily missed
02:30Amid all the battle's excitement
02:32Now I want to know, what is your favorite moment in The Lord of the Rings?
02:36Was it the battle of Helm's Deep or something else?
02:39Or none of it, you do you
02:40Either way, let me know in the comments section below what you think
02:448. Bubba's Lip, Forrest Gump
02:46Michael T. Williamson gives an unforgettable performance in Forrest Gump
02:50As Forrest's tragically ill-fated war buddy Bubba
02:53And one of the character's most distinctive physical characteristics
02:56Is his prominently protruding lip
02:58This wasn't achieved by simply having Williamson jut out his lip
03:02For the entirety of the shoot though
03:04He actually wore a subtle lip prosthetic during filming
03:07So he didn't have to consciously perform the affectation at all times
03:11And yet there's one scene where the production presumably forgot to fit
03:15The actor with the false lip
03:17When Bubba and Forrest are riding in a chopper in Vietnam as they go to war
03:21Look closely at Bubba and his lip isn't sticking out at all
03:25Quite what went wrong here is anyone's guess
03:27Hell, perhaps the prosthetic just fell off Williamson's lip during filming
03:31And nobody caught it while cameras were rolling
03:34A minor mistake, for sure
03:36But one that'll nag you every time you watch it now
03:38So, sorry for that
03:407. Mikey calls brand Josh the Goonies
03:43The Goonies is one of the greatest films of the 1980s
03:47And one that touts an hilarious instance of a young actor
03:50Accidentally breaking character in the middle of a take
03:53Roughly 40 minutes into the film
03:55Sean Astin's Mikey says to Bran, played by Josh Brolin
03:58There's something buried under there, Josh
04:01Unintentionally referring to the actor by his real name
04:04Ah, it happens
04:05While you might not understand how you could have missed such a glaring mistake
04:09It's worth pointing out that Mikey and Bran talk over each other during this exchange
04:14So the word Josh is ever so slightly garbled when it comes out of Sean Astin's mouth
04:18All the same, once you know it's there, there's no unhearing it at all
04:22We can assume the director Richard Donner didn't hear it during editing
04:26Or felt it was concealed enough through their banter
04:28That it didn't need to be redubbed in post-production
04:316. The Premature Bloodstain – The Matrix
04:34Like any effects-heavy blockbuster
04:36The Matrix has a mind-boggling number of moving parts
04:40And so it's little surprise that the film is packed to the gills with momentary mistakes
04:44That the Wachowski sisters simply hoped you'd be too enthralled to pay much attention to
04:49This being the internet, though
04:51Of course, people spotted each and every single one of them
04:54There is one especially noticeable continuity gaffe late in the film
04:58When Neo is shot twice by Agent Smith and stumbles backwards into the wall behind him
05:03Look closely as Neo stumbles, though
05:06And you'll see that there's already a bloodstain on the wall
05:09Which Neo is then falling backwards into
05:12Despite prior shots of the wall showing no blood whatsoever
05:15Clearly, this was a continuity issue
05:17Where the shots were filmed out of order and a crew member either forgot to clean the blood
05:21From the wall
05:22Or the Wachowskis simply assumed that nobody would notice
05:26Again, we did
05:27Either way, it's very much a glitch in The Matrix itself
05:29That Neo's blood smears itself on the wall before he's even made contact with it
05:34You showing up here is no glitch, though, and we thank you for that
05:37If you like what you're watching, then hit that subscribe button down below, my friends
05:41Number 5. The visible contrail
05:43Marie Antoinette
05:45Shooting a period film is just a massive pain in the ass, really
05:48And one of the many reasons that historical movies tend to have higher budgets than contemporary fare
05:53Is the effort they must make to accurately capture the period
05:56And even accepting that Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette
06:00Is willingly packed with anachronistic music and fashion choices
06:03There is one scene where an out-of-time artifact was most certainly not intended
06:08Roughly 85 minutes into the film, when Marie is playing outside in a meadow with her daughter
06:13A low-angle shot shows her looking up to the sky
06:17Where the contrail of an aircraft is very obviously visible cutting through the skyline
06:22This is the sort of gaffe which could be removed with relative ease on even home computers these days
06:27And yet, back in 2006, Coppola either simply didn't notice
06:31Or didn't consider it disruptive enough to spend any of the movie's
06:34Svelte $40 million budget correcting it
06:37Number 4. Woody Harrelson's blatant dubbing, Triangle of Sadness
06:42Generally speaking, automated dialogue replacement, or ADR
06:46Is a basic enough part of movie production
06:48That audiences can't tell when an actor has re-recorded their lines
06:52Most of the time, that is
06:54But despite winning the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or
06:57And scoring numerous Oscar nominations
06:59Including Best Picture
07:01Recent class satire, Triangle of Sadness
07:03Features one of the most egregiously bad instances of ADR
07:07In any major recent movie
07:09And yet, you probably somehow missed it
07:12When the imperiled ship's captain is shown discussing politics with Russian oligarch Dmitry
07:17He says, never argue with an idiot
07:18They'll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience
07:22Before attributing the quote to Mark Twain
07:25However, if you look at Woody Harrelson's mouth movement
07:27It's incredibly obvious he doesn't say Mark Twain
07:31And if you're even a half-skilled lip reader
07:34You can probably tell that he's actually saying George Carlin
07:37It's a baffling re-dub, honestly
07:39Firstly, because it would have been completely consistent with Harrison's character
07:43To incorrectly attribute the quote to Carlin
07:45And the quote doesn't even belong to Twain, anyway
07:48This is one of those head-scratching mistakes
07:50You'll never be able to unsee on repeat viewings
07:53So, uh, sorry about that
07:55Number three, Ian Malcolm can't handle binoculars
07:57The Lost World Jurassic Park
08:00Okay, now this one is real funny, folks
08:02Can you even remotely blame Jeff Goldblum for goofing around on the set of The Lost World?
08:07Or if you want to be less generous to him
08:09Failing to operate a pair of binoculars
08:11Despite his Dr. Ian Malcolm being a genius mathematician
08:15Shortly after he arrives on Isla Sauna
08:17He picks up Eddie Carr's binoculars to look at the arriving InGen fleet
08:22Yet he's actually hilariously holding them to his face backwards
08:25In reality, this would only make the choppers look further away
08:29And certainly ensure he couldn't spot the InGen logo on them
08:32Yet the film itself suggests that Malcolm is indeed operating the binoculars as intended
08:38What a guy
08:39One can't put it past Goldblum for seeing what he could get away with here
08:42And accidentally getting a minor prank into the final cut of the movie
08:46But at the same time, it's entirely possible
08:48He just fumbled picking up the binoculars and ran with it
08:51Because why not?
08:52Number two, obvious library facade is obvious
08:56Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
08:58Much as we all love watching 4K restorations of classic movies
09:02I know I do
09:03It creates an absolute cluster headache for the filmmakers themselves
09:08Because higher resolution releases ensure that audiences can pick out mistakes
09:12Which were not visible on lower detail earlier versions
09:16Case in point, we have Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
09:19Roughly 30 minutes into the movie
09:21Indy heads to a Venetian library in pursuit of his father, Henry
09:25And when he climbs a staircase and discovers the giant X on the library's floor
09:29Take a look at the bookshelf behind him
09:31In the 4K version of the film in particular
09:34It's hilariously obvious that the bookshelf is just a thin facade
09:38With the books all being superficial semblances of actual books at absolute best
09:43Fans went decades never noticing this on prior releases of the movie
09:47But in its ultra HD glory, it's incredibly obvious
09:51Sure, you can try to convince yourself that it's a mere intentional decoration
09:55In the world of the movie itself
09:57But let's be honest
09:58It was simply that the production designers never expected that viewers
10:01Would be able to fixate on a crystal clear high resolution screen grab of their work
10:06But here we are
10:07Number one, the visible soundstage, G.I. Joe Retaliation
10:11The extended cut of G.I. Joe Retaliation opens with a longer fight scene
10:15Between Snake Eyes and his apprentice, Jinx
10:18But amid the snappily edited fisticuffs
10:21You'll kick yourself for not spotting this outrageous mistake
10:24When Snake Eyes flips away from one of Jinx's attacks
10:27The rigging of the soundstage where the scene was shot is blatantly visible at the top
10:32Complete with the lights used for the scene
10:34Evidently a VFX artist forgot to mask out the roof of the soundstage
10:38And replace it with something that made sense
10:40Possibly because this scene wasn't completed during post-production for the theatrical version
10:45And only hastily finished for the home video extended cut later on
10:49Either way, considering how damn cool this shot is otherwise
10:52It's a shame that due diligence wasn't undertaken to actually get it done properly
10:57Then again, how many of you like this movie enough to even bother with the extended cut at all?
11:02Sorry Joe
