00:00:00I am so excited to welcome today's guest,
00:00:02local interior designer, Bethany Kane.
00:00:04Welcome, Bethany.
00:00:06Thank you so much for having me.
00:00:07Hi, everybody.
00:00:09Bethany has developed a system
00:00:11for home design and organization
00:00:14called MAP, the Map System.
00:00:17Can you tell us a little more about it?
00:00:19Sure. The Map System uses creative visualization
00:00:23to help people bring meaning, abundance,
00:00:25and peace into their homes.
00:00:27Pretty simple.
00:00:28Just put the name of your kid on the outside of the drawer,
00:00:30and you would be surprised.
00:00:32It's like magic.
00:00:33Dad, this is a good idea.
00:00:35What's a good idea?
00:00:36This candy thing with the cute jars.
00:00:38You know, your grandma used to try and hide the candy from me
00:00:40by putting it in a cracker box in the pantry?
00:00:43She thought she was so sneaky.
00:00:45You've been promising we can finally get some stuff
00:00:47to decorate the kitchen.
00:00:49What are you talking about?
00:00:50What's wrong with the kitchen?
00:00:51It's functional.
00:00:52Don't forget, we're going to have a party tonight.
00:00:54Dad, what's wrong with the kitchen?
00:00:56It's functional.
00:00:57Don't forget, I have skating practice after school today.
00:00:59How could I forget?
00:01:00I washed your skating dress last night.
00:01:07Hey, Zoey.
00:01:08How would you feel about being a flamingo
00:01:10instead of a swan for your exhibition?
00:01:12Dad, not again.
00:01:13Uh-huh.
00:01:14There is a culprit.
00:01:16Sorry.
00:01:17Can you flip your pancake?
00:01:19Yeah, yeah.
00:01:20Hold on a sec.
00:01:25All right.
00:01:27Perfect.
00:01:32Hey, Dad.
00:01:33Can you tell me the bowl story again?
00:01:35Oh, the bowl story.
00:01:37Well, your mom used to make pancakes
00:01:39in this bowl every Sunday.
00:01:42With chocolate chips.
00:01:43So many chocolate chips.
00:01:45One day, I was washing the bowl, and it slipped out of my hands,
00:01:47of course, because I'm a klutz, and it hit the edge of the sink,
00:01:49and it chipped.
00:01:50I was going to throw the bowl away, and your mom said,
00:01:52what are you doing?
00:01:53It's just a chip.
00:01:54Now the bowl has a story.
00:01:56And it makes the pancakes taste even better.
00:01:58They do taste pretty awesome.
00:02:00Good, because I'm hungry.
00:02:03This is the book.
00:02:05And I believe you had one more announcement.
00:02:07Yes, I do.
00:02:08In conjunction with my book, I'm very
00:02:10happy to announce my new year new home makeover contest.
00:02:14So I am offering a local Denver family a complete home
00:02:19makeover using my map system.
00:02:21And we'll be posting regular video updates so all of you
00:02:24guys can follow along, too.
00:02:26OK, so how do we enter this fabulous contest?
00:02:30Just go to my website, bethanyonthemap.com.
00:02:32There's a little icon that says New Year New Home Makeover.
00:02:36Click on that.
00:02:37It has all the information.
00:02:40Oh, man.
00:02:41We got to go.
00:02:42Wait, I want to see the rest of this.
00:02:43I can't, sweetie.
00:02:44I've got a full day of tours at the Lodge, OK?
00:02:46You got any school stuff packed up?
00:02:47Yeah.
00:02:48OK, I'm going to warm up the party and meet me outside.
00:02:50OK, you heard it here, folks.
00:02:52Go to bethanyonthemap.com.
00:02:54Enter the contest.
00:02:55Thank you so much, Bethany, for coming on the show
00:02:57and for all your great ideas.
00:02:59I'm Sullivan Davenport.
00:03:00This is Hello Today.
00:03:01We will be right back after this break.
00:03:07Bethany, this is big.
00:03:09I know.
00:03:10She shook my hand.
00:03:11No, no, this is bigger than being on Hello Today again.
00:03:14What are you talking about?
00:03:15I just got a call from Beautiful Homes Magazine.
00:03:17And they want to feature your book in their next issue.
00:03:20Tell me you're not kidding.
00:03:21I'm so not kidding.
00:03:22And, and, they're going to tie in the contest, too.
00:03:26They say it's perfect for their getting a fresh start
00:03:29on the new year issue.
00:03:31They're going to do a spread on the whole transformation.
00:03:34This is a national magazine.
00:03:35I know.
00:03:36This could be a game changer.
00:03:38There's just one little hitch.
00:03:40Oh, now what?
00:03:41In order to get into the issue, we
00:03:43have to get it done in three weeks.
00:03:46Three weeks?
00:03:47Yeah.
00:03:48Wait a minute.
00:03:49That would mean we'd have to pick the winner in, like,
00:03:51two days.
00:03:52Mm-hmm.
00:03:53And then we've got prep.
00:03:54We've got demo.
00:03:55I mean, that leaves absolutely no time for tweaking.
00:03:57Or eating, or breathing, or sleeping.
00:03:58But we can get it done.
00:04:01OK, OK.
00:04:02We can get this done.
00:04:03OK.
00:04:04We can do this.
00:04:05Can we do this?
00:04:06Yeah, we can do this.
00:04:07We're going to get it done.
00:04:08We're going to get it done.
00:04:09We're going to get it done.
00:04:10We're going to get this done.
00:04:11We're going to get this done.
00:04:16All the snow cabins are booked to capacity
00:04:18for the next three months.
00:04:19So let's add more shuttles to the ski runs,
00:04:22a few more snowshoeing excursions, some winter hikes.
00:04:25And let's open the fire pits for marshmallow roasting.
00:04:27I'll order some more roasting sticks.
00:04:29Good call.
00:04:30Also, have you had a chance to inventory
00:04:31the snow sleds and tubes?
00:04:33Oh, that'll be on the schedule for today.
00:04:35OK.
00:04:36It's my first year as activities director.
00:04:38You know, I just want to make sure everything
00:04:40runs like clockwork.
00:04:41Hey.
00:04:42Hey.
00:04:43I noticed we have 35 guests reserved for the snowflake tea.
00:04:45We only have seating for 30.
00:04:46All right.
00:04:47Can we squeeze another five in there?
00:04:48Not unless you want to open up a window
00:04:50and attach an igloo to the side of the restaurant.
00:04:52Could be cute.
00:04:54OK.
00:04:55Um, let's do a second seating.
00:04:56That way, we could accommodate more guests.
00:04:58I forgot to tell you.
00:04:59We have to cut the sleigh rides.
00:05:01The sleigh lost a runner.
00:05:02And it's going to take a month to get a replacement.
00:05:04What?
00:05:05OK.
00:05:06I just need the final head count from my staff.
00:05:07Yes.
00:05:08Um, wait.
00:05:09Can we get another sleigh?
00:05:10Everything's booked.
00:05:11Let's brainstorm about it later.
00:05:12All right?
00:05:16You doing OK?
00:05:18Yeah.
00:05:19Yeah.
00:05:20Great.
00:05:21You seem pretty stressed.
00:05:22I don't know.
00:05:23Just busy.
00:05:24I got everything going on here.
00:05:26And then I'm playing both parents to Zoe.
00:05:28Just feel like there needs to be two of me.
00:05:30Hey, Grant.
00:05:31I've been your best friend since high school.
00:05:34You know I'm here if you need any help.
00:05:36Yeah.
00:05:37I appreciate that.
00:05:39I'm trying out some new stuff for the winter tasting menu.
00:05:41Will you and Zoe be my guinea pigs tonight?
00:05:43100%.
00:05:44That way I don't have to make mac and cheese again.
00:05:46I told Zoe I'd give her a cooking lesson anyway.
00:05:48She's picking up.
00:05:53Hey, Zoe.
00:05:54Everything OK?
00:05:55Did you get the book?
00:05:57What book?
00:05:58From my book report.
00:06:00If I don't show the feature tomorrow,
00:06:01I'll get points off.
00:06:02OK, sweetie.
00:06:03I'm sorry.
00:06:04But you've got to give me a little bit more warning.
00:06:06But I told you about it yesterday.
00:06:10OK.
00:06:11Don't worry.
00:06:12I'm sure we'll figure everything out.
00:06:18So don't be fooled into thinking you
00:06:20have to pick between practicality and style,
00:06:23because you don't.
00:06:25Your home can and should be a beautiful reflection
00:06:28of you and your family.
00:06:37Unfortunately, Bethany will be leaving us soon.
00:06:40But there's still time to get signed copies
00:06:43of To the Neat of Your Own Drum on sale here this evening.
00:06:50Why can't we go to the library?
00:06:52Because the library is closed.
00:06:55Besides, I'm sure we can find something here.
00:06:59Oh, look at that.
00:07:02Fairytale University.
00:07:03Dad, that's a princess book.
00:07:05I thought you liked princesses.
00:07:06When I was eight.
00:07:08I'm sorry.
00:07:10I want this one.
00:07:11That story sounds like it ends in nightmares for a week.
00:07:14No thanks.
00:07:15Dad.
00:07:16Zoe.
00:07:17I'm sorry.
00:07:18Excuse me.
00:07:19I hate to eavesdrop, but I couldn't help but overhear
00:07:22you looking for a book.
00:07:23I need something for my book report.
00:07:25Dad is picking a bedtime story.
00:07:27Hm.
00:07:28Apparently, I have no idea what a 13-year-old needs.
00:07:30Sorry.
00:07:31Well, do you mind if I make a suggestion?
00:07:33Oh, please do.
00:07:34OK.
00:07:35Well, when I was your age, which was a very,
00:07:37very long time ago, I used to love this series.
00:07:40I don't know if they have now.
00:07:42Oh, they do.
00:07:43Yeah, here it is.
00:07:44So it's called Zelda Xanders.
00:07:46Now, by day, she's this 13-year-old straight-A student.
00:07:50Ooh, I like that.
00:07:51OK.
00:07:52By night, she's this international spy.
00:07:55Oh, yeah.
00:07:56So this is the first book in the series, Drama Club Double
00:07:59Agent.
00:08:00It is so good.
00:08:01I promise you, you're going to love it.
00:08:02You were on TV this morning.
00:08:04Yeah.
00:08:05You saw that?
00:08:06With the contest.
00:08:07That was me.
00:08:08Contest?
00:08:09What contest?
00:08:10Thanks so much for the book.
00:08:11I better start reading this right away.
00:08:13OK.
00:08:14OK.
00:08:16You're so welcome.
00:08:17Happy reading.
00:08:24Well, hopefully that book works out for you.
00:08:27It probably will.
00:08:28She has good taste.
00:08:29Who?
00:08:30The woman in the bookstore.
00:08:32Oh.
00:08:34Oh.
00:08:35Oh.
00:08:38Is it always this cold in January?
00:08:40Yep.
00:08:41I got a surprise for you.
00:08:43Mm-hmm.
00:08:44Joel's coming over to cook dinner tonight.
00:08:45Oh, that's great.
00:08:46I want to talk to him about something.
00:08:48Oh, yeah?
00:08:49What's that?
00:08:50It's for a paper about restaurants.
00:08:53Hm.
00:08:54Speaking of.
00:08:55Oh.
00:08:56Hey.
00:08:57Oh, thank you.
00:08:58Oh, Ted.
00:08:59What do you got in here?
00:09:00I got a lot of good stuff going on in here.
00:09:02Can you hold this?
00:09:03That's not a fair trade.
00:09:04Hey, Zoe.
00:09:05Is it time for my cooking lesson?
00:09:06Yeah.
00:09:07Tonight we cook turmeric chicken and pho.
00:09:10Good.
00:09:11Because we need to talk.
00:09:12Cool.
00:09:13You can start by chopping the onions.
00:09:14OK.
00:09:15But I need goggles.
00:09:16They always make me cry.
00:09:17Yeah.
00:09:18They make me cry, too.
00:09:19Do you know who Bethany Kane is?
00:09:21What?
00:09:22Is she like a singer or something?
00:09:23No.
00:09:24She's this really cool designer.
00:09:25And I want her to come makeover our house.
00:09:27I'll talk to your dad.
00:09:28But you know how he is about this place.
00:09:30You can't tell my dad anything.
00:09:31What are you up to, Zoe?
00:09:33Hey.
00:09:34You guys need any help?
00:09:35No.
00:09:36We got it covered.
00:09:37Yeah?
00:09:38You guys are cooking soon, though, right?
00:09:40We're going to cook.
00:09:41Did I mention I was starving?
00:09:42Yeah.
00:09:43We know.
00:09:44We got it.
00:09:45Just a little hint.
00:09:47It's a contest.
00:09:48I'll be at the lodge tomorrow before my skating practice.
00:09:50We can go over it when Dad's not around.
00:09:52All right.
00:09:53Cool.
00:09:54Hey, Joel.
00:09:55I'm starving.
00:09:57Just saying.
00:09:58Let's cook.
00:10:00He's hungry.
00:10:05Hey.
00:10:06Hey.
00:10:08How's my baby sister?
00:10:10Oh, just freaking out a little bit.
00:10:13I thought you wanted to be rich and famous.
00:10:16Well-respected and universally admired
00:10:18is what I was going for.
00:10:21Hey, where are the kids?
00:10:23Oh, I left them at home with Charlotte.
00:10:25Oh, OK.
00:10:26I'm assuming you want some cocoa?
00:10:29You got any whipped cream?
00:10:31No, but I can make you some fresh.
00:10:33Oh, I just spray the canned stuff right in my mouth.
00:10:36How are we related?
00:10:37Oh, what can I say?
00:10:39You got all the designer genes, and I got all the awesome.
00:10:42Oh.
00:10:44Thanks.
00:10:45OK, so what do you want to talk to me about?
00:10:50Just wanted to check in on you with the whole book release
00:10:52thing.
00:10:53Oh, yeah.
00:10:54I didn't want you obsessing over sales stats or order clicks
00:10:57or what color napkins you're going to use
00:10:59at your next dinner party.
00:11:01Mulberry with an antique brass napkin ring.
00:11:04Cute.
00:11:06And then there's this makeover.
00:11:08I just feel like it's so rushed, you know?
00:11:10And if it doesn't turn out well, then the magazine
00:11:13doesn't have to use it.
00:11:14There's that.
00:11:15You know it'll turn out perfectly.
00:11:16It always does.
00:11:17I just don't do my best work under this kind of pressure.
00:11:19Bethany.
00:11:20And when I'm under this kind of pressure,
00:11:21I miss final touches.
00:11:22And final touches are very important.
00:11:24Stop.
00:11:25You got this.
00:11:26And even if there are hiccups along the way,
00:11:28you'll just turn them into designer wall
00:11:30sconces or something.
00:11:33I prefer table lamps to sconces, bud.
00:11:36You're hopeless.
00:11:38I love you.
00:11:39But you're hopeless.
00:11:47Excuse me, mademoiselle.
00:11:48You have a reservation?
00:11:50I'm just waiting for dad to take me to skating practice.
00:11:52Zoe was wondering if she could just hang out with you
00:11:54for a bit.
00:11:55Yeah, both a seat.
00:11:56Thanks, Lisa.
00:12:00Look, did she catch on?
00:12:02No way.
00:12:03I'm super sneaky.
00:12:04What about your dad?
00:12:05He doesn't have a clue.
00:12:06OK.
00:12:07Well, we got about 10 minutes if we're lucky.
00:12:09OK.
00:12:10I made a rough draft.
00:12:14This is pretty good.
00:12:17You read.
00:12:18I'll type.
00:12:19My dad Grant could really use some help.
00:12:21My mom passed away a few years ago.
00:12:23We had just moved into our new house,
00:12:25so we never got to decorate anything.
00:12:26Now my dad's kind of stuck.
00:12:28I think you're right that when your house looks pretty,
00:12:30it makes you feel good.
00:12:31My dad deserves to feel good.
00:12:33He just got a promotion, and he's so busy now
00:12:35that he never gets to have any fun.
00:12:37Sometimes he messes things up because he
00:12:39has to be my dad and my mom.
00:12:41But I think he's doing a pretty good job.
00:12:43Anyways, please pick my dad to win the contest.
00:12:45Thanks, Zoe.
00:12:47Hey, Emerson?
00:12:48Yeah.
00:12:49Come here for a second.
00:12:51What's up?
00:12:53Read this.
00:12:56It's from a girl about her dad.
00:12:59And I guess what really struck me about it
00:13:01is that she didn't write in for herself.
00:13:03She wrote in for somebody else.
00:13:06This is beautiful.
00:13:07Yeah, it really is.
00:13:08I mean, look at what she says about him.
00:13:10I don't know.
00:13:11I just feel like I could really do something
00:13:12great for that family.
00:13:13Look at the house.
00:13:15It's got great bones.
00:13:16Yeah, it does.
00:13:17You could do a lot with this.
00:13:21This is it.
00:13:22It's perfect.
00:13:23Yeah.
00:13:24OK.
00:13:25All right, well, then just call him tomorrow.
00:13:27Let him know.
00:13:28And I think we can get started by Tuesday.
00:13:29Will do.
00:13:30OK.
00:13:32We got it.
00:13:34Yeah.
00:13:45That's enough for today, Zoe.
00:13:47But I didn't get it.
00:13:48Give it more time before the exhibition.
00:13:50Can I try one more time?
00:13:52I'm sorry, Zoe.
00:13:53My next student's here.
00:13:54It's already 5.
00:13:58Come on.
00:13:59We have to go.
00:14:01Clock's ticking, Dad.
00:14:04What's the hurry?
00:14:10Hi, guys.
00:14:12Hey.
00:14:14Oh, yeah.
00:14:16This is going to be perfect.
00:14:17Yeah.
00:14:18A home makeover contest?
00:14:20I can't believe you did this without telling me.
00:14:23That's what made it a surprise.
00:14:25I don't need a surprise.
00:14:26And I don't need a home makeover.
00:14:28Don't act mad, OK?
00:14:29Be nice.
00:14:30The house is fine just the way it is.
00:14:34Is it?
00:14:39You're about to meet our winners.
00:14:41Very exciting.
00:14:43OK.
00:14:45Oh.
00:14:49Hi.
00:14:50Hey.
00:14:52Bookstore, right?
00:14:54Wait.
00:14:55You guys know each other?
00:14:57Well, we haven't been formally introduced.
00:15:00My name's Bethany.
00:15:01Nice to meet you.
00:15:02And this is Emerson.
00:15:03Hi.
00:15:04Grant.
00:15:05And this little bookworm here is Zoe, my daughter.
00:15:07I totally love Zelda Zanders.
00:15:09Yeah?
00:15:10Does she ever end up defeating Chrome McThunderson?
00:15:12Wait.
00:15:13Don't tell me.
00:15:14Well, you couldn't drag it out of me.
00:15:16This is amazing.
00:15:19Well, I guess we were just destined to be friends, huh?
00:15:23Uh, yeah.
00:15:26I guess you guys need to see the inside of the house.
00:15:28Yeah.
00:15:29That would be helpful.
00:15:31Come on in.
00:15:32OK.
00:15:33Come on, guys.
00:15:35Watch your step.
00:15:36Watch your step.
00:15:37Excuse the mess.
00:15:38I wasn't expecting company.
00:15:40At all.
00:15:41Come with me, Bethany.
00:15:42I'll show you my room.
00:15:43Just so you know, I normally would have pinned
00:15:45all my stuff under the bed first.
00:15:47But I figured you'd want to see how it really looks.
00:15:50Well, you are correct.
00:15:52See you soon.
00:15:58Who exactly is that?
00:15:59And why are they taking so many pictures of my house?
00:16:02Uh, it's for the spread in Beautiful Homes magazine.
00:16:06Zoe didn't say anything about that.
00:16:09Zoe didn't say anything about a magazine?
00:16:11She didn't?
00:16:12No.
00:16:13Oh, well, don't worry.
00:16:14They won't be here the whole time.
00:16:17Oh, this is going to look great on the website.
00:16:30All right.
00:16:31Well, I have got some really big ideas already,
00:16:34starting with this entryway.
00:16:36I'm going to get a hall tree for her skates
00:16:38and school supplies.
00:16:39Keep it real organized over here.
00:16:42And then a piece of artwork over the mantel.
00:16:45OK.
00:16:46Oh, yeah.
00:16:47And what do you think about putting
00:16:48some wallpaper on that wall?
00:16:50Something patterned, bright, warm it up in here?
00:16:53Yes.
00:16:54OK, a little artwork over the mantel's fine,
00:16:55but we don't need any wallpaper.
00:16:58Ooh.
00:16:59Ooh.
00:17:00Look at this patio.
00:17:01This is nice.
00:17:02This is beautiful.
00:17:03I love this patio.
00:17:04I can do so much with this.
00:17:06Yeah, we don't use that very much.
00:17:08Well, we're going to change that.
00:17:11It's all part of the transformation.
00:17:13What if I don't want a transformation?
00:17:17Uh, well, uh, why did you enter the contest?
00:17:24I didn't enter the contest.
00:17:25Come on, Dad.
00:17:26Bethany said I can get a new bedspread,
00:17:28vanity, and curtains.
00:17:29What are you talking about?
00:17:30I thought you loved that purple comforter.
00:17:32OK, well, if it's meaningful to you, that's great.
00:17:35It's the end part of my map system.
00:17:37We can just repurpose it.
00:17:38Maybe some throw pillows for your bed.
00:17:41How about that?
00:17:42Yeah.
00:17:43OK.
00:17:44Wait, you just want to cut it up?
00:17:45And I think that we're definitely going to have
00:17:46to get rid of this furniture.
00:17:47No, most definitely.
00:17:48And is this what you're using as an office?
00:17:52Yeah.
00:17:53Yeah, it works great.
00:17:55OK, well, I'm going to make it work even better for you,
00:17:57OK?
00:17:58I'm going to give you your own dedicated
00:18:00space in the front room, I'm thinking.
00:18:02Yeah.
00:18:03It's going to be nice and quiet and peaceful.
00:18:05OK, this, honestly, this is a lot.
00:18:08Look, simple little things like lighting
00:18:11can just warm up a room.
00:18:13You would be surprised.
00:18:14This is just a lamp.
00:18:15There's not much difference that's going to make.
00:18:17Makes a lot of difference.
00:18:20Listen, Grant, I know that this is going
00:18:22to be really overwhelming.
00:18:23I get it, OK?
00:18:24But I promise you, it's all going to be worth it in the end.
00:18:27You just have to be open to some possibilities, that's all.
00:18:30Oh, um, except for an extra set of keys.
00:18:33We're going to be in and out.
00:18:34I don't want to bother you, so.
00:18:35I don't have an extra set of keys.
00:18:38OK, well, we'll just have some made tomorrow.
00:18:41You know what?
00:18:42I think I have enough to get started for today.
00:18:44Good.
00:18:45So I'll just leave you guys to your family time.
00:18:48Uh, wait, we should, um, we should get a picture
00:18:51of the three of you together.
00:18:53Oh, OK.
00:18:54Oh, here, you get in the middle.
00:18:57All right, actually, Bethany, can you go in the middle?
00:18:59Are you sure?
00:19:00Yep.
00:19:01All right, and let's see, a little closer.
00:19:04A little closer, Grant, this way.
00:19:07Closer still.
00:19:08Yep.
00:19:09Ah, OK, ready?
00:19:101, 2, 3, say cheese.
00:19:12Cheese.
00:19:13Cheese.
00:19:14Great.
00:19:19I like Bethany.
00:19:20I'm happy she's helping us.
00:19:21You don't care that she's going through all your stuff?
00:19:24What if she wants to give some of it away?
00:19:26Joel says we have to let things go to grow.
00:19:29Oh, really?
00:19:30Joel's been reading too many self-help books.
00:19:33Don't you think she's pretty?
00:19:35Who, Joel?
00:19:36No, Dad, Bethany.
00:19:38Yeah, I know.
00:19:39Look, it's a little late for 20 questions.
00:19:41You need to go to bed.
00:19:42Wait, we have to say Mom's prayer.
00:19:45Yes, we do.
00:19:47OK, ready?
00:19:49God bless this home.
00:19:51God bless this girl.
00:19:52God bless the people.
00:19:53God bless the people of this world.
00:19:55Teach us to love the way you do.
00:19:57And trust your love will see us through.
00:19:59Amen.
00:20:00Amen.
00:20:01OK, now you go to sleep.
00:20:04Night.
00:20:05And sleep well, OK?
00:20:08See you tomorrow.
00:20:18OK.
00:20:24Oh.
00:20:30There is so much that you can do with that house.
00:20:33It's really beautiful, Bethany.
00:20:36You see it, don't you?
00:20:39Why don't we just get somebody else?
00:20:42Why would we get someone else?
00:20:43Because this guy doesn't even want a makeover.
00:20:45The Olivers are kind of a perfect family.
00:20:47But it's such a big job.
00:20:49Yeah, but it'll be a very dramatic transformation.
00:20:52How am I going to do this in two weeks?
00:20:54With a lot of overnight deliveries and a copious amount of caffeine.
00:20:57And some wine.
00:20:59I'm just used to people being excited to get my help, you know?
00:21:03I mean, people pay me to decorate their house.
00:21:05I can't even give this guy free furniture.
00:21:07Yeah, Grant just can't picture it.
00:21:10Yeah.
00:21:12What did you say?
00:21:13Grant can't picture it yet?
00:21:15He can't picture it.
00:21:18That's it.
00:21:19What's it?
00:21:20I have not even been following my own map system this whole time.
00:21:25When you get off track, you need to get back on your map.
00:21:31Cheers to that.
00:21:32Cheers to that.
00:21:38After you, watch your step.
00:21:41I'm going to take you off to the left here.
00:21:43Lisa's going to be handling all your paperwork.
00:21:46Hold on one sec.
00:21:48This is Grant.
00:21:49Hey, Grant.
00:21:50It's Bethany Kane.
00:21:52Oh, hi.
00:21:54Listen, I know that we got off to a bit of a rough start last night.
00:21:58Did we?
00:21:59So I was just wondering if maybe you would want to come shopping with me this afternoon to buy a sofa?
00:22:05Okay, great.
00:22:06Make sure they get out with Alan.
00:22:08He's our best guy.
00:22:10Grant?
00:22:11Yeah.
00:22:12Look, Zoe's got ice skating practice at 3 at the ice rink.
00:22:15So why don't you meet me there?
00:22:17It's Arbor Ice Rink.
00:22:19Okay?
00:22:20Okay.
00:22:21Meeting abundance and peace.
00:22:22Hello?
00:22:23Hello?
00:22:27Meeting abundance and peace.
00:22:37Full extension.
00:22:38Make sure you place attention here.
00:22:40And straighten the back of the chin up.
00:22:42Off you go.
00:22:47Okay.
00:22:52Hi.
00:22:53Hi.
00:22:56Well, this is a unique meeting spot.
00:23:00Yeah.
00:23:01I'm not at the office and I'm with Zoe.
00:23:03And if Zoe's not at school, then she's usually here at practice.
00:23:08Look, I know that you're not exactly over the moon about all the changes that we're going to be making.
00:23:15You know, think of it this way.
00:23:17You're not doing this just for you.
00:23:19You're doing it for Zoe.
00:23:20I would do anything for Zoe.
00:23:22But this all just feels like a giant commercial.
00:23:28I know that that can seem a little odd.
00:23:31But listen, all I want you to know from me is that I'm just trying to make your house a special place for you and Zoe.
00:23:38That's it.
00:23:39But I need you to be on board if I'm going to be able to make that happen.
00:23:43Okay.
00:23:44Well, Zoe's going to double practice today.
00:23:46And I told her we were going shopping.
00:23:48So we've got about two hours.
00:23:52Let's go.
00:23:53Okay.
00:23:55Let's get this thing done.
00:24:00So what do you think about this?
00:24:03It's...
00:24:04beige.
00:24:06Well, it's actually more grayish.
00:24:08I mean, ash.
00:24:09Ash.
00:24:10Okay, so would you prefer it maybe if it were in a darker shade?
00:24:13I just don't understand what's wrong with the one that I have.
00:24:16Well, there's nothing wrong with the couch that you have now, per se.
00:24:20It's just...
00:24:21Hey, how about this?
00:24:22Why don't you try it?
00:24:27Go ahead.
00:24:35What do you think?
00:24:37Yeah, it's pretty comfy.
00:24:38It's comfy.
00:24:39Yay.
00:24:40Okay, so in my map system,
00:24:42I like to do something called visualizing your environment.
00:24:46Okay?
00:24:47So, close your eyes.
00:24:51Come on, please.
00:24:54Okay.
00:24:55Visualize yourself on this sofa in your house.
00:24:59Okay, why are you laughing?
00:25:00It's just goofy.
00:25:01Can you please try it?
00:25:03Okay.
00:25:04Okay.
00:25:05You're on this sofa in your house.
00:25:07You're sitting with Zoe and she's all curled up.
00:25:10You are excited because you're telling her you went snowboarding.
00:25:13Um, I don't snowboard.
00:25:15It's just an exercise.
00:25:17I'm a skier, not a snowboarder.
00:25:19Well, it's just an exercise.
00:25:20That's all we're doing right now.
00:25:21Visualizing your environment.
00:25:23Do you see yourself?
00:25:24Zoe?
00:25:25Sofa?
00:25:26Any of it?
00:25:27Yeah, I can see the inside of my eyelids.
00:25:32Okay.
00:25:33Okay.
00:25:35Maybe we should just, uh...
00:25:37You can open your eyes.
00:25:39I think that we should just move on from the furniture
00:25:41and we'll try something else.
00:25:43Okay?
00:25:49Do you have a preference here?
00:25:51I don't know.
00:25:52All the same to me.
00:25:53They're just pillows.
00:25:54Well, they are pillows, but they're not the same.
00:25:57Okay?
00:25:58They're different.
00:25:59Army, moss, fern, forest, lime.
00:26:03Green.
00:26:05Just all green.
00:26:07Let me try something.
00:26:09Okay.
00:26:10Like, for instance, this pillow right here.
00:26:12This reminds me of the time that my grandparents took me to the park
00:26:15and we had this all-day picnic.
00:26:17It was amazing.
00:26:18And this shade of green is the exact same shade of green as the grass.
00:26:22Hmm.
00:26:23Okay, and...
00:26:24Oh, oh.
00:26:25Here.
00:26:26This pillow has got a very luxurious fabric on it,
00:26:29so this would maybe make someone feel abundant
00:26:33if they had that in their house.
00:26:34That's the A part of my map system.
00:26:36Yeah, I don't get the whole map system.
00:26:38When Rebecca and I moved into the house,
00:26:39we just wanted it to be comfortable.
00:26:41Well, being beautiful doesn't have to mean uncomfortable.
00:26:44Yeah, but being comfortable doesn't need to mean not good enough.
00:26:48Sorry.
00:26:49I don't know.
00:26:50I just like the pillows that we have.
00:26:51That's all.
00:26:52Okay, well, we can keep some of those
00:26:54and we'll just add some new ones in.
00:26:56Why don't we move on to lamps?
00:27:00Lamps are fun.
00:27:01Yeah.
00:27:04Either this could add, um, just a little...
00:27:12By the way, you're not gonna get anything from this.
00:27:14Don't worry. I can edit something together.
00:27:16Come on. Get back out there.
00:27:18You got this. Come on.
00:27:21Well, I was just thinking that this lamp right here,
00:27:25I mean, this could add the perfect pop of color that we need.
00:27:28Okay.
00:27:30What?
00:27:31You always talk like that?
00:27:33Talk? Talk like what?
00:27:34Well...
00:27:35You mean like a designer?
00:27:37Oh, yeah. Yeah, I do.
00:27:39Because I am a designer.
00:27:40It's how we all talk. Yeah.
00:27:42Got it.
00:27:43Sorry.
00:27:44Yeah, it's great.
00:27:46What are you doing?
00:27:47You don't have to take the lamp just because I said...
00:27:50Here you go. We'll take this one.
00:27:56Oh, um, by the way, I made these for you.
00:28:00What are these?
00:28:01Spare keys to the house.
00:28:09Great. It's a nice lamp.
00:28:11Love it.
00:28:12Yeah.
00:28:13The whole thing is just goofy to me.
00:28:15She asked me to imagine sitting in the sofa,
00:28:18and I'm actually sitting in the sofa,
00:28:21so how am I supposed to imagine it?
00:28:23Would you ask Da Vinci why he held his brush a certain way?
00:28:26Maybe.
00:28:27Let the genius do her work, Grant.
00:28:30Joe, you just don't get it.
00:28:31She's turning my house upside down.
00:28:34Well, you haven't really given her a chance.
00:28:38Why don't you invite her to dinner at the restaurant?
00:28:40Why don't you invite her to dinner at the restaurant?
00:28:42If you sit down and talk to Bethany about her plans,
00:28:44you might feel a little better about the changes.
00:28:49Well, maybe you're right.
00:28:59So, that's what I was planning.
00:29:01What do you think?
00:29:02That's a great idea.
00:29:03Yeah? Okay, well, go ask her.
00:29:06No, Dad. You have to ask her.
00:29:07That's how she'll know you're not mad anymore.
00:29:09Well, I was never mad.
00:29:11Just go. It's no big deal.
00:29:13Go. Go.
00:29:20Um, actually, could you put that one back, please?
00:29:23Oh, yeah, we're going to put everything back.
00:29:26I was just clearing out the cabinets,
00:29:27making room for the organizers,
00:29:28but then I saw this one has a chip,
00:29:30so maybe if we toss it?
00:29:31Yeah, no, that one is my wife Rebecca's bowl, so...
00:29:35Oh. Oh, yeah, of course.
00:29:38We'll keep this.
00:29:44Seems we just keep getting off on the wrong foot here.
00:29:48Sorry.
00:29:49Yeah, I know.
00:29:51Um, I know how much you've been doing for Zoey and me,
00:29:54and, um, you know, I just want to ask you
00:29:56if you want to maybe come to dinner with us
00:29:58tomorrow night at the lodge.
00:30:00You know, start over, say thank you.
00:30:03Uh...
00:30:05Yeah. Yes.
00:30:07Yeah?
00:30:08Yeah, I would like that a lot.
00:30:10Okay. Um, let's say 7 o'clock.
00:30:13Perfect.
00:30:14Okay. All right.
00:30:16Um, okay, I'll see you tomorrow.
00:30:18Okay, yeah, tomorrow.
00:30:197 o'clock.
00:30:20Yeah, 7. I'll be there.
00:30:22Okay.
00:30:33Hey.
00:30:38Bethany?
00:30:39Hi.
00:30:40Grant and Zoey are waiting for you. May I?
00:30:42Oh, yeah. Thank you.
00:30:43This way.
00:30:46Hi.
00:30:47Hi.
00:30:48Hi, Zoey.
00:30:49Thanks for coming.
00:30:50I can take that for you.
00:30:51Oh, thank you.
00:30:53Sure.
00:30:54Um...
00:30:56Thank you for having me.
00:30:58This place is beautiful.
00:30:59I-I can't believe I've never been here to have dinner.
00:31:01Joel even made us a special menu.
00:31:03So fancy.
00:31:04Voila. Here he is.
00:31:06Welcome.
00:31:08We'll be starting off tonight with an amuse-bouche.
00:31:10This is an apricot canapé with goat cheese, almonds, and rosemary.
00:31:15Ooh.
00:31:16This looks too pretty to eat.
00:31:18But I will.
00:31:20Zoey, we're making bananas foster tonight.
00:31:22You want to watch the pastry chef set something on fire?
00:31:24Yeah.
00:31:25Is that okay, Dad?
00:31:27As long as it's not you.
00:31:30You be careful.
00:31:31Listen to Joel, all right?
00:31:32Okay, Dad.
00:31:33I'll be careful.
00:31:34Bye.
00:31:35So, um...
00:31:37You look really nice.
00:31:38Oh, uh, thank you.
00:31:41You, too.
00:31:45Some wine?
00:31:46Yes, I would love some.
00:31:48Great.
00:31:49So, I just have to tell you.
00:31:51Zoey's so excited.
00:31:53And she can't stop talking about how much she loves what you're planning for her room.
00:31:57Yeah, and she's being very cute about it.
00:31:59Yeah.
00:32:00And I hate to admit, I actually think the kitchen is going to turn out well.
00:32:05You do?
00:32:06Oh, I'm so glad you think so.
00:32:08You know, I was thinking about something today.
00:32:11I want to honor Rebecca's bowl in some way.
00:32:13So, how do you feel about maybe putting it in a shadow box over the stove up against the wall?
00:32:22How about this?
00:32:23How about a compromise?
00:32:24In order to honor the bowl, maybe we build a special shelf.
00:32:27That way, it can still be used.
00:32:29That's not a bad idea.
00:32:31No?
00:32:32No.
00:32:33Maybe I should be a designer.
00:32:35No, you leave that up to me.
00:32:38That's a good idea.
00:32:40And I've also decided that I'm going to get more on board with things.
00:32:45Yeah?
00:32:46Yeah.
00:32:47Well, I have decided that I need to be a little bit more sensitive to all the changes that are happening.
00:32:53Because I know that there's a lot.
00:32:54Yeah.
00:32:55And I feel like, you know, if we could just communicate like this, then that would be great.
00:32:59And that way, there'd be more of you in the house.
00:33:03That's what I want, you know?
00:33:05That's the way it should be.
00:33:09Deal.
00:33:10To making a house a home.
00:33:12To making a house a home.
00:33:15Mm-hmm.
00:33:23Thanks for coming over, Ryder.
00:33:25Ugh, I just can't figure this guy out.
00:33:28Well, it sounds like you two are finding some common ground.
00:33:32I don't know. We haven't actually done anything yet.
00:33:35Sometimes adversity breeds genius.
00:33:37Well, I just prefer everyone gets along and does what I say every once in a while.
00:33:43I'm a dad. Nobody does what I say.
00:33:45Somehow I'm surviving.
00:33:47Here you go.
00:33:48Thanks.
00:33:50I've just got a lot riding on these next few weeks.
00:33:52I need everything to move smoothly, you know?
00:33:55What if they don't?
00:33:57They have to.
00:33:58But they probably won't.
00:34:00And then you know what'll happen?
00:34:01What?
00:34:02You'll still finish.
00:34:04And the house won't burn down.
00:34:05And somehow it'll still be better than it was before.
00:34:07Everyone wins.
00:34:09I don't like it when you're all calm and logical
00:34:11when I'm trying to worst-case scenario a situation.
00:34:13You know that?
00:34:14That's just what big brothers do.
00:34:17Well, it's annoying.
00:34:19Then my work here is done.
00:34:23Seriously, Bethany, you're gonna have to learn to be okay with just mostly perfect.
00:34:27Or you'll go nuts.
00:34:34What do you think this is supposed to be?
00:34:38I like what the artist has done here.
00:34:41There's a real sense of movement.
00:34:45Mm.
00:34:46A bit like an octopus swallowing through a wind or not.
00:34:49I was gonna say octopus.
00:34:51Maybe a squid?
00:34:52Oh, any of the cephalopods, really.
00:34:54Cephalopod.
00:34:55Nice word.
00:34:56I'm impressed.
00:34:57How much do you think this masterpiece is?
00:34:59Ooh.
00:35:00Ouch.
00:35:01I'm sure it doesn't do anything else.
00:35:02It's one expensive calamari.
00:35:04Oh, you know.
00:35:05Well, it's like my grandma always said.
00:35:07There's a hat for every head.
00:35:09What's that mean?
00:35:10Well, it means there's someone to love everything.
00:35:13Oh.
00:35:14And I do mean everything.
00:35:16Excuse me.
00:35:22Looks like somebody found their hat.
00:35:26Okay, so there's a table right up here
00:35:31that I believe actually would be perfect in the...
00:35:37Hmm.
00:35:44You like this?
00:35:45I do.
00:35:48What do you like about it?
00:35:49Uh...
00:35:51Well, before I lived here in Windermere,
00:35:53my parents had a cabin up here.
00:35:54Mm.
00:35:55Some of my favorite memories are up there.
00:35:58That cabin reminds you of it?
00:36:00Yeah, it's pretty close.
00:36:03My sister and I would go out in the snow,
00:36:05and we would make snowballs and snowmen,
00:36:07and our hands would freeze.
00:36:08We'd be out there for hours.
00:36:10And that light in the window...
00:36:12Yeah?
00:36:13Reminds me of this huge fire my mom used to make.
00:36:16And she'd warm these blankets next to the fire,
00:36:18and then she'd have hot cocoa waiting for us
00:36:20when we got in the house.
00:36:22Oh, it was great.
00:36:23She still does that.
00:36:25Yeah, it looks peaceful.
00:36:27It was.
00:36:29You should get it.
00:36:31Really?
00:36:32Yes.
00:36:33Are you sure it goes with the whole theme?
00:36:36Yes.
00:36:37It goes with the whole theme.
00:36:40Because you love it.
00:36:44Okay.
00:36:46Yeah.
00:36:47I can't believe somebody bought that thing.
00:36:50What do you even put in it?
00:36:52I've got a couple rusty pipes and a hammer in the garage.
00:36:54Maybe I should become a sculptor.
00:36:56I'd buy it.
00:36:58Hey!
00:36:59Perfect timing.
00:37:00Your desk just arrived.
00:37:01You should come see.
00:37:02Good.
00:37:15I just, uh...
00:37:16I thought you'd like to be able to look out on nature.
00:37:20And also...
00:37:23something meaningful...
00:37:25from Zoe's room.
00:37:39That's perfect.
00:37:42I love it.
00:37:44I love it.
00:37:46I love it.
00:37:48Perfect.
00:37:52You're welcome.
00:37:57Hello, everyone.
00:37:58How are you?
00:37:59Thank you so much for joining us,
00:38:00and thank you for your patience.
00:38:01We're gonna get started in about five minutes.
00:38:03Okay.
00:38:07Is that him?
00:38:08Yeah.
00:38:09The Arroyo Pass is iced over.
00:38:11The Sommelier is not gonna make it.
00:38:13Great.
00:38:15Okay, uh...
00:38:16you wouldn't happen to have
00:38:17your Sommelier certificate, would you?
00:38:19No, but you do.
00:38:21Okay.
00:38:22Do me a favor.
00:38:23Can you entertain them for a little bit
00:38:24while I call Zoe?
00:38:25Okay.
00:38:27All right, everyone.
00:38:29While we wait for the wine tasting to begin...
00:38:31Hi, Dad.
00:38:34You're late.
00:38:35Hey, sweetie.
00:38:36I know.
00:38:37I'm sorry I'm stuck here at the lodge.
00:38:38Anyway, you can hang out there for a little while longer.
00:38:40I'll call Joel.
00:38:41He'll come get me.
00:38:42If you can't reach him,
00:38:43let me know.
00:38:44We'll figure out something else.
00:38:45Okay.
00:38:46Okay, sweetie.
00:38:52This is Joel.
00:38:53Leave a message at the beep.
00:39:04This is Bethany.
00:39:05Hi.
00:39:07Zoe?
00:39:08Dad's stuck at work and Joel isn't answering.
00:39:10Can you come pick me up from skiing practice?
00:39:13Do you think that'll be okay with your dad?
00:39:15Yeah.
00:39:16I'll text him and tell him you're coming.
00:39:17I just don't want you to think he's irresponsible or anything
00:39:20because he's 100% responsible.
00:39:22Okay.
00:39:23All right, yeah.
00:39:24I can be there in, like, 10 minutes?
00:39:26Cool.
00:39:27Thanks.
00:39:28Okay.
00:39:29All right.
00:39:30Bye.
00:39:32So, where was it?
00:39:34Oh, it's here.
00:39:35This was my favorite part.
00:39:36It's so good.
00:39:38I cannot believe she got out of that.
00:39:40I know.
00:39:41That's exactly what I was thinking.
00:39:43There's so many great things about this book.
00:39:48Hello.
00:39:50Hi, Dad.
00:39:51Hi.
00:39:52How are you?
00:39:53Good.
00:39:54How are you?
00:39:55Good.
00:39:56How are you?
00:39:57Good.
00:39:58How are you?
00:39:59Good.
00:40:00Hi, Dad.
00:40:01Thank you so much for helping out.
00:40:03I really appreciate you picking up Zoey.
00:40:05Not a problem.
00:40:06A little something to say thank you?
00:40:08Mm.
00:40:09Cookies.
00:40:11Oh, wow.
00:40:14This is nice.
00:40:15You like it?
00:40:16Yeah, good work.
00:40:18Thank you very much.
00:40:19I knew you would.
00:40:28Oh, this is just too good to be true.
00:40:35There you go.
00:40:36Oh, hi.
00:40:37What's that?
00:40:38Negative comments?
00:40:39Oh, I never read those.
00:40:41It's not that.
00:40:42You getting pushed back for the magazine?
00:40:44Nope.
00:40:45It's not that either.
00:40:46Well, you're not being very convincing.
00:40:48Okay, it's not that bad, really.
00:40:50Just brace yourself a little, okay?
00:40:52I don't really like the sound of that.
00:40:54What are you talking about?
00:40:55Well, our video updates are getting some serious traction on your website
00:40:59because you and Grant are getting shipped.
00:41:03Where?
00:41:05It's like when people want you to get together like a couple,
00:41:08you get relation-shipped.
00:41:11What?
00:41:13Oh, no, wait.
00:41:14This one is so good.
00:41:15It's like watching an old black-and-white movie
00:41:17where they argue until they fall in love.
00:41:21Wait, wait, wait.
00:41:22What's that last one say?
00:41:23Just kiss already.
00:41:25That's enough.
00:41:27I mean, it's just a silly online thing anyway.
00:41:30She probably doesn't have that many followers.
00:41:31Oh, she's been gaining followers since the contest started.
00:41:34How many could she possibly have?
00:41:37200,487.
00:41:4288.
00:41:44This is what people think?
00:41:45Well, who cares what people think?
00:41:46It's getting us subscribers.
00:41:47I care what people think.
00:41:48I mean, I want to be...
00:41:50Whoa.
00:41:51That is a lot of people.
00:41:53Wow.
00:41:55Yeah.
00:41:57The magazine is very happy
00:41:59with all the attention the contest is getting.
00:42:03Oh, they are.
00:42:04Mm-hmm.
00:42:05You, my friend, are trending.
00:42:08You, my friend, are trending.
00:42:11Mm-hmm.
00:42:16I'm trending.
00:42:19Okay, so we're gonna do another visualization.
00:42:22Okay?
00:42:23Don't you dare.
00:42:25Okay, I'm sorry.
00:42:26Okay.
00:42:27All right, close your eyes.
00:42:29Okay.
00:42:30All right, now take this pillow.
00:42:32Now, rub your hand over the pillow.
00:42:35Mm-hmm.
00:42:36Okay.
00:42:37Give me that one.
00:42:39All right.
00:42:40Now take this one.
00:42:41Do the same thing.
00:42:44Okay.
00:42:46Last pillow.
00:42:48Do the same thing with this one.
00:42:49Mm.
00:42:50Now tell me which one of those pillows speaks to you.
00:42:53Oh, these are these new fancy talking pillows.
00:42:56You gonna be difficult?
00:42:58No, sorry.
00:43:00Uh, I like the first one better.
00:43:01Okay, so it's the first one, okay.
00:43:03Mm-hmm.
00:43:04Take this again.
00:43:05Ooh.
00:43:06Huh?
00:43:07This is so comfy.
00:43:08Nice.
00:43:09So we have a winner.
00:43:13Okay.
00:43:15Oh, I see.
00:43:16I think you think you're funny.
00:43:17Is that funny to you?
00:43:18No, no.
00:43:19This is very serious business.
00:43:20I'm sorry.
00:43:21Be very serious.
00:43:22Excuse me.
00:43:23Miss, can we...
00:43:24Stop.
00:43:25Don't you dare.
00:43:26Oh, you don't want to get this started, Mr. Oliver.
00:43:28Okay, children.
00:43:29Yep.
00:43:31What?
00:43:32That's enough.
00:43:33Ah-ha!
00:43:35Completely alone, snow-covered tree limbs,
00:43:38little critters running around.
00:43:39Little critters.
00:43:41Oh, there he is.
00:43:42I got your coffee waiting for you.
00:43:44Thanks, man.
00:43:45You guys don't know each other, do you?
00:43:46No.
00:43:47Emerson, Joel.
00:43:48Joel, Emerson.
00:43:49Hi.
00:43:50Nice to meet you.
00:43:51Nice to meet you.
00:43:52Taking a little break from our home makeover shopping.
00:43:54So, how'd it go today?
00:43:55We bought pillows.
00:43:56Lots of pillows.
00:43:57Did we ever.
00:43:58Did you know that there are approximately
00:44:00nine million shades of the color green?
00:44:02But they are all equally important.
00:44:04Mm.
00:44:05Mm.
00:44:06You're learning.
00:44:07I'm very enthusiastically mad.
00:44:10Oh, we got the update status
00:44:12called with Beautiful Homes Magazine.
00:44:14And we still have five more days,
00:44:15so I don't know why they're micromanaging.
00:44:17Welcome to the big times, Miss Kane.
00:44:19All right, guys, sorry.
00:44:21I need to caffeinate and leave, but...
00:44:23Well, they're talking about doing an online release
00:44:26before the issue comes out.
00:44:27So, I can just pick up the internet
00:44:29before I come tomorrow morning.
00:44:30Will you be there?
00:44:31Ah, no, I doubt it.
00:44:32I mean, I was lucky enough to get away today.
00:44:34At least it deserves to be sainted.
00:44:36But I should be home by dinner,
00:44:38if you're still there then.
00:44:39Uh...
00:44:41Uh, I can be if...
00:44:43Yeah, okay, yes, I'll be there.
00:44:45Okay.
00:44:46Yeah?
00:44:47All right, good.
00:44:48Yeah.
00:44:49Okay, yeah.
00:44:50Yeah.
00:44:51I will just see you when I see you.
00:44:53I will see you then.
00:44:54See you then.
00:44:55Oh, hey.
00:44:56We're gonna go now.
00:44:57Okay.
00:44:58Nice to meet you.
00:44:59Bye, guys.
00:45:00Bye.
00:45:01Bye.
00:45:02Bye.
00:45:03Oh, wow, she's been working so hard
00:45:05trying to get everything done on time.
00:45:07She's great.
00:45:08Maybe you should do something
00:45:09to take her mind off the house for a couple hours, you know?
00:45:12Something just for fun.
00:45:14That's a good idea.
00:45:15What does Bethany like to do?
00:45:17Work.
00:45:18I don't even know if she'd have time for fun.
00:45:21Maybe she needs a little nudge, you know?
00:45:23Sometimes you have to encourage people to have a good time.
00:45:26I don't know when I'd do it.
00:45:28I've got the cross-country ski tour at the lodge tomorrow.
00:45:31I've got that snowman-making workshop.
00:45:33Why don't you invite her to come along?
00:45:35But then I'd have to ask Lisa to step up again, and that's...
00:45:38I'm sure she won't mind.
00:45:40I guess I would be there to put out any fires
00:45:43if she really needed me.
00:45:44That sounds fun.
00:45:45Can I come?
00:45:46Yeah.
00:45:47Yeah, we'll make a day of it.
00:45:49Good idea.
00:45:50Good.
00:45:51Well, I'm looking for something.
00:45:53Okay, dinner's ready.
00:45:55Thanks, sis.
00:45:56Hey, I appreciate you taking care of me
00:45:58while the kids are away.
00:46:00You can answer it.
00:46:01No, no, no, it's fine.
00:46:03But it could be the president calling to ask you
00:46:05to redecorate the White House.
00:46:07I doubt that.
00:46:09What if it is?
00:46:10I mean, it could be a huge social...
00:46:12Just, okay, stop, stop.
00:46:14And what's going to happen to this home decor?
00:46:17Uh...
00:46:19Hey.
00:46:20Hey.
00:46:21Speak up.
00:46:23Uh, so I changed my mind.
00:46:25Uh, about the end tables?
00:46:28Uh, about tomorrow, yeah.
00:46:30I'm going to be at the house when you get here.
00:46:33Oh, okay, uh, great.
00:46:36We have a surprise for you.
00:46:38You have a surprise for me?
00:46:40What kind of surprise?
00:46:42Well, that's for us to know.
00:46:44I don't really like surprises.
00:46:47Oh, really?
00:46:48Miss, I like to plan my life down to the molecule.
00:46:51Okay, I see where this is going.
00:46:53You're not going to tell me, are you?
00:46:55Nope.
00:46:56See you tomorrow.
00:46:58Oh, and dress warmly.
00:47:00I love surprises.
00:47:02I know.
00:47:03Not the White House?
00:47:05Uh, no, it was not.
00:47:07Ahem.
00:47:08So, uh, what are you going to do?
00:47:11Uh, no, it was not.
00:47:13Ahem.
00:47:14He just has a surprise for me.
00:47:17Who?
00:47:18Mr. Home-do-over?
00:47:19Mm.
00:47:20He said to dress warm.
00:47:23Do we have to come up with a clever excuse?
00:47:27No.
00:47:28It could be anything.
00:47:29Could be candles askew, you stubbed your toe.
00:47:32You think I'm going to chicken out?
00:47:34Who, me?
00:47:35You know what?
00:47:36I think it sounds like fun.
00:47:38And I think you like this guy.
00:47:41What?
00:47:42Oh, Mona, I do not like him.
00:47:46I think you think he's cute and it makes you like surprises.
00:47:49Stop.
00:47:50Just stop being ridiculous.
00:47:51Let's just eat.
00:47:52Can we just have a nice dinner, please?
00:47:54Hi, guys.
00:47:57Hi, Bethany.
00:48:00Uh, why are you both looking at me like that?
00:48:16Are you ready for your surprise?
00:48:19Yeah.
00:48:20Uh, should we bring in the tables first?
00:48:23Uh, no.
00:48:27All right.
00:48:28Well, what is going on?
00:48:32Is the surprise out here?
00:48:34Nope.
00:48:35It's at the lodge.
00:48:36Oh.
00:48:37Oh, OK.
00:48:38So we're going to the lodge.
00:48:39You are on a need-to-know basis.
00:48:41And we haven't decided whether or not you need to know.
00:48:44Don't worry.
00:48:45You're going to like it.
00:48:49What are you up to?
00:48:51Oh.
00:49:14Come on.
00:49:19Surprise.
00:49:20Surprise.
00:49:24OK.
00:49:25Let's go get changed.
00:49:27So why isn't Zoe coming?
00:49:28Oh, she, uh, didn't want to take the chance of injuring
00:49:31herself before her exhibition.
00:49:33Injuring herself?
00:49:35Well, how hard are these runs?
00:49:38Don't worry.
00:49:39I'll take it slow.
00:49:41In that case, good luck keeping up.
00:49:46Hold on.
00:49:47Something tells me you've done this before.
00:49:49Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
00:49:54Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
00:49:58Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
00:50:00Do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
00:50:04There I was skydiving down the avenue.
00:50:08I saw your red den and your blue.
00:50:10So I knew I had to talk to you, yeah.
00:50:14You look like you've been crying every single day.
00:50:17Hot cocoa.
00:50:18Yes, yes, yes.
00:50:19Wipe your tears away and say you need a little pumpkin pie.
00:50:28Hello?
00:50:29Hey.
00:50:30Just checking in to see how everything's going.
00:50:32You're supposed to be having fun right now,
00:50:34not thinking about the house.
00:50:35No, I'm just taking a little break in the fun.
00:50:38Have you got the curtains on yet?
00:50:39Yeah, I'm setting it up right now.
00:50:41How's your day going?
00:50:42Is it filled with all kinds of frozen delights?
00:50:44Yeah, it is.
00:50:45We just got through making a snowman.
00:50:47I haven't done that since I was 10.
00:50:50Then it sounds like it was high time.
00:50:52Stephanie, come on.
00:50:53That's enough work.
00:50:54Let's go.
00:50:55Oh, you know what?
00:50:56I have to go.
00:50:57Roasting marshmallows.
00:50:58Marshmallows.
00:50:59Ooh, yummy.
00:51:00I'll talk to you later.
00:51:01Bye.
00:51:02All right, bye.
00:51:04You want one or two marshmallows?
00:51:06Three.
00:51:07Three?
00:51:08Yeah.
00:51:09Oh, the trifecta.
00:51:12There you go.
00:51:14Sure.
00:51:15So are you a golden brown or a charred and crispy
00:51:19kind of marshmallow roaster?
00:51:21Well, I'm more of the accidentally
00:51:22catch it on fire kind.
00:51:24Oh, I see that.
00:51:26See?
00:51:28OK, OK, OK.
00:51:29Put this one down.
00:51:31We'll concentrate on this one.
00:51:33Are you going to teach me?
00:51:34I'm going to teach you.
00:51:35Yeah, that's perfect.
00:51:36All right, now keep it about 10 inches away.
00:51:39And slowly just rotate it.
00:51:53Well, thank you for taking Zoe to skating practice.
00:51:55No, it's no problem.
00:51:56And I'll pick her up after 2.
00:51:58And stay with her until you get back home tonight.
00:52:00What are you two up to next?
00:52:02Oh, I haven't quite figured that out yet.
00:52:04But if we don't come back in a couple hours,
00:52:06send out a search party.
00:52:07Oh, no.
00:52:08Will do.
00:52:09Bye, Dad.
00:52:10Bye, Bethany.
00:52:11Bye.
00:52:12Bye, Zoe.
00:52:14So you really don't know what we're doing.
00:52:16I figured we'd take a walk around the mountain.
00:52:18Walk around the mountain?
00:52:19It's dark.
00:52:20Well, I've got a flashlight.
00:52:22But it's cold.
00:52:24Oh, all right.
00:52:27I can fix that.
00:52:29Boom.
00:52:30There you go.
00:52:31Nice and cozy.
00:52:32Come on.
00:52:33Come on.
00:52:36So there's this great path that we
00:52:38use mostly in the summer and the spring.
00:52:40But it's beautiful in the snow, too.
00:52:42Yeah?
00:52:43I've got my own private little tour.
00:52:45Yes, you do.
00:52:48Oh, wow.
00:52:49Look at that.
00:52:50Come here.
00:52:51See that right there?
00:52:53That's the Orion Nebula.
00:52:54Wow.
00:52:55It's beautiful.
00:52:56Uh-huh.
00:52:57Why does it look so much different
00:52:59than all the other stars?
00:53:00Well, it's actually stars that are surrounded
00:53:02by gases and dust.
00:53:03And that's why it has that glow.
00:53:05Really?
00:53:06Yeah.
00:53:07Gosh, they're all so bright tonight.
00:53:09When it's this cold out, all the moisture in the air freezes.
00:53:13And that's why it's so clear.
00:53:15Do you spend all your free time on the internet?
00:53:18I wish I had free time.
00:53:21No, I'd like to get out here as much as I possibly can.
00:53:25Stand out under this big sky.
00:53:27It just reminds me of how little my problems actually are.
00:53:32Yeah.
00:53:33Well, I'll have to remember that the next time
00:53:36I'm in the middle of a deadline.
00:53:41So did you have fun today?
00:53:44Yeah.
00:53:45You know what?
00:53:46I have had fun.
00:53:48And it's crazy, because I honestly
00:53:50thought I'd be freaking out about not being at the house.
00:53:52But I haven't.
00:53:54I haven't.
00:53:55I've barely even thought about the house.
00:53:59Feels good to live in the moment, doesn't it?
00:54:02Yeah.
00:54:05I guess I needed this.
00:54:13Oh.
00:54:15Did you plan this too?
00:54:16Yes.
00:54:17It's all part of my master plan.
00:54:21OK, well, let's keep going.
00:54:22Where are we going?
00:54:23We're going to follow this path down to this
00:54:25incredible natural cavern.
00:54:27That sounds dangerous.
00:54:28No, no.
00:54:29No, don't worry.
00:54:30The bears are friendly.
00:54:31Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
00:54:32I don't do bears.
00:54:33Yes, you do.
00:54:34I'm joking.
00:54:35I'm joking.
00:54:36Come on.
00:54:37No bears out here.
00:54:39Stop it.
00:54:41Got you back in one piece.
00:54:43Yeah, I guess you did.
00:54:45Well, I had a great day.
00:54:49Yeah, me too.
00:54:51You know what?
00:54:52Stay right there for one second.
00:54:56Wait, where are you going?
00:54:58What?
00:54:59What?
00:55:03That's very sweet of you.
00:55:08You're welcome.
00:55:09Follow me.
00:55:11Uh-uh, follow me.
00:55:13Come on.
00:55:15What are we doing?
00:55:16Watch your step.
00:55:17It's so dark.
00:55:18I know, I know.
00:55:19OK, stand right here.
00:55:20OK.
00:55:21All right, hold on.
00:55:22Hold on.
00:55:23All right.
00:55:24And.
00:55:27Ah.
00:55:29I didn't know we hung these yet.
00:55:31Oh, no, no, no.
00:55:32I did it last night.
00:55:33You did it?
00:55:34Yeah, don't worry.
00:55:35I checked with Emerson first.
00:55:36She said it was OK.
00:55:37Well, of course it's OK.
00:55:40Oh, wow.
00:55:42Look at this.
00:55:43You did a really good job.
00:55:44They're beautiful.
00:55:46Well, we wouldn't have any of this if it wasn't for you.
00:55:48So thank you.
00:55:50Oh, you're welcome.
00:55:53However, I think maybe I should get you some heaters, too.
00:55:58Oh.
00:56:00What else?
00:56:05Oh, thank you.
00:56:08I got you nice and cozy.
00:56:21Ah.
00:56:24I'm so sorry.
00:56:25I thought it might be a raccoon.
00:56:27No, no, no, no.
00:56:28No problem.
00:56:29I was just leaving.
00:56:30I have to get some sleep.
00:56:31I missed a whole day of work.
00:56:33So a lot of catching up to do.
00:56:36So.
00:56:37I'm just going to go back in the house.
00:56:40Good night, guys.
00:56:41Good night.
00:56:43So, well, yeah, I should get going.
00:56:45But I had a really great day.
00:56:47Me, too.
00:56:48Yeah.
00:56:49I'll see you tomorrow.
00:56:50Oh.
00:56:51Here.
00:56:52This bar.
00:56:54Bye.
00:56:55Good night.
00:56:56Good night.
00:57:04What are you doing?
00:57:20Hey.
00:57:21Hey.
00:57:22Why are we meeting here?
00:57:23I could have just brought you a coffee.
00:57:24I mean, we've got to get to the house.
00:57:26I know.
00:57:27I know.
00:57:28I just wanted to talk to you before we got to the house.
00:57:31Uh-oh.
00:57:32Why do you look so serious?
00:57:33Grant.
00:57:35What about him?
00:57:37We almost kissed.
00:57:41I knew it.
00:57:42You do like him.
00:57:43I don't want to like him.
00:57:44Why?
00:57:45Because.
00:57:46For starters, he clearly really, really loved his wife.
00:57:49I mean, what if he's not ready to move on?
00:57:52Oh, and then not to mention, I'm working on his house.
00:57:54Yes.
00:57:55I'm a professional.
00:57:56And I'm trying to build an empire here, you know?
00:57:59I'm going to have big meetings.
00:58:00I'm going to have to fly away.
00:58:02This is all going to be very complicated.
00:58:05No.
00:58:06It's not.
00:58:08It's not.
00:58:09OK, look.
00:58:10Let me break it down for you so it's less complicated, OK?
00:58:12OK.
00:58:13Yeah, sure.
00:58:14Do that.
00:58:16His wife passed before her time.
00:58:19So he will always love her.
00:58:22That's what makes him a good man.
00:58:25And it doesn't mean that there isn't
00:58:27room in his heart for you, too.
00:58:30Look, sometimes, sometimes things
00:58:34just happen unexpectedly.
00:58:36It's a bit of a surprise.
00:58:38I don't like surprises.
00:58:40I know you don't.
00:58:42But they're not all bad.
00:58:45They really aren't.
00:58:50Why do you make so much sense?
00:58:53OK, this is the part where I'm supposed
00:58:55to tell you you're brilliant, listen to you,
00:58:57and follow all your brilliant advice?
00:58:59Yes.
00:59:00We're at that moment.
00:59:03I love you.
00:59:04I love you, too.
00:59:06Anytime.
00:59:07Now let's go finish this house makeover, OK?
00:59:08Oh, we're late.
00:59:09Yeah, we are.
00:59:10We've got to go.
00:59:12Ah, here we are at the end of another project.
00:59:16Oh, no.
00:59:17I'm thinking I want to revisit the hardware in the kitchen.
00:59:20I don't know if it's 100%.
00:59:22Bethany, we have to finish.
00:59:24The magazine wants pictures like yesterday.
00:59:26Well, I'm sorry.
00:59:27This stuff is too important to rush.
00:59:29Well, they're very happy with all the traffic
00:59:31we've gotten to our website.
00:59:32And they want to harness that momentum
00:59:34to launch the online spread.
00:59:36OK, well, then they can just give us a few extra days.
00:59:39Oh, honey, we don't have a few extra days.
00:59:42And besides, the viewers, they just
00:59:44want to know how the house turned out
00:59:46and what happens next.
00:59:48Well, I don't know what happens next.
00:59:51Maybe I, uh, maybe I write a second book.
00:59:54That would be good, but I was talking about you and Grant.
00:59:57Oh, yeah.
00:59:58There's that, huh?
00:59:59Yeah.
01:00:00I don't know.
01:00:02I'd like to know the answer to that, too.
01:00:05Hey, guys.
01:00:06Hey.
01:00:07I nailed my routine today.
01:00:09Coach said I embodied at least a duck.
01:00:12That is almost a swan.
01:00:14I am so close.
01:00:16That's awesome.
01:00:17Hey, you should come to my exhibition.
01:00:19Uh, I don't know.
01:00:22Isn't that just for family?
01:00:24We'd love it if you could come.
01:00:26Yeah, I'd love it.
01:00:27I'd love it.
01:00:28I'd love it.
01:00:29I'd love it.
01:00:30I'd love it.
01:00:31I'd love it.
01:00:32Family?
01:00:33We'd love it if you could come.
01:00:34Right, Dad?
01:00:37Yeah.
01:00:38Yeah, you should definitely come.
01:00:42OK, then.
01:00:43Yeah.
01:00:44Yes, of course I would love to come and watch you.
01:00:46Great.
01:00:53I want to thank all of you for coming
01:00:55to support your skaters today and see their progress.
01:00:58They've all worked really hard.
01:01:00The first to skate today is Zoe Oliver.
01:01:20She only started skating three months ago.
01:01:22Oh, you must be so proud.
01:01:24This is her mom.
01:01:25She looks great.
01:01:26Oh, I love this part.
01:01:31I love that part.
01:01:32She looks so good.
01:01:33Uh-huh.
01:01:36OK.
01:01:37OK, now she starts.
01:01:43She's doing great, having done this
01:01:44in such a short period of time, huh?
01:01:46Oh.
01:01:47Oh, she looks so good.
01:01:48She definitely didn't get her coordination from me.
01:01:51She's going to win.
01:01:52She's going to win the gold medal.
01:01:54No, no.
01:01:55It's just exhibition.
01:01:56There's no medals.
01:01:57What?
01:01:58Well, she would win if there was a medal.
01:01:59OK, yes, she would.
01:02:01All right, that's a big finish.
01:02:08Yes!
01:02:09Yes!
01:02:10Yes!
01:02:11Yes!
01:02:12Yes!
01:02:18Yes!
01:02:22Come on, guys.
01:02:23It's not like I was skating in the Olympics.
01:02:25Well, I still say if there was a gold medal,
01:02:28then you would have won it.
01:02:30Oh, OK, Zoe.
01:02:32Now, this is your spot.
01:02:33OK.
01:02:34And you get to organize this however you'd like.
01:02:36OK.
01:02:42Good job.
01:02:44And Dad, this is your spot.
01:02:49Who's the extra spot for?
01:02:51Well, today, that would be me.
01:02:56Oh, look, guys.
01:03:01Just a few more things to do to get
01:03:03the house perfect for the magazine spread,
01:03:05and more importantly, for the both of you.
01:03:12Yes, later on today, they'll be coming
01:03:14by to take the pictures for the magazine, and then, um.
01:03:18And then, after that, you're done.
01:03:22Yeah.
01:03:23So that's it.
01:03:26It'll be weird not having you around all the time.
01:03:28Will you come back?
01:03:30No, I hope so.
01:03:47And so our new year, new home transformation
01:03:50is finally complete.
01:03:52And I've done my very best to help Grant and Zoe turn
01:03:55their house into a home using my map system,
01:03:59incorporating meaning, abundance, and peace
01:04:02into their living space.
01:04:05Cut.
01:04:06That was great.
01:04:07Zoe, Grant, do you mind coming in?
01:04:12Oh, Zoe, I love that dress.
01:04:15Wow.
01:04:17You guys look great.
01:04:20OK, you ready?
01:04:21Yeah.
01:04:22OK, don't be nervous.
01:04:23OK.
01:04:24OK?
01:04:25You're talking to her, aren't you?
01:04:27And we're rolling.
01:04:29So I'm here with the Olivers, and I just
01:04:32wanted to take time, first of all,
01:04:33to say thank you for letting me come into your home
01:04:36and do all of this.
01:04:38I know it wasn't easy some of the time, so thank you.
01:04:42And I just wanted to ask you both, um,
01:04:45what was the experience like for you?
01:04:47What was your favorite part?
01:04:48I love my new bedroom and your hot cocoa.
01:04:51My hot cocoa is good, I will say.
01:04:54For me, it was all the free furniture.
01:04:56I figured that was the answer.
01:04:58I'm just kidding.
01:04:59Actually, the best part, I think, for both of us,
01:05:02especially myself, best part of it was having you here.
01:05:10That was the best part.
01:05:14Well, uh, well, thank you.
01:05:16That means a lot.
01:05:18Never had that answer before.
01:05:20Uh, well, uh, you heard it here, and we're finally finished.
01:05:24So thank you.
01:05:29And cut.
01:05:30That was great, guys.
01:05:32Uh, let's take some pictures.
01:05:34Hey, can I grab you guys over there on the sofa?
01:05:37Come on, guys.
01:05:38All right.
01:05:40Yeah, that looks great.
01:05:41Ready?
01:05:42And we got it.
01:05:45That's a wrap.
01:05:46We did it.
01:05:47Can I change back to my normal clothes?
01:05:49Yes, you can get out of these fancy clothes.
01:05:52Make sure you hang them up.
01:05:54Quick learner.
01:05:56Learn from the best.
01:05:59Do you guys feel like staying for dinner?
01:06:01Maybe order some pizzas or something?
01:06:03Uh, yeah.
01:06:05Yeah, that would be great, but no pizzas.
01:06:07Let's cook.
01:06:08It's more fun.
01:06:09Ooh, fancy.
01:06:12I'm going to help them pack up and drop them off at the studio.
01:06:15So I can be back here in 30 minutes?
01:06:16Sure, that's perfect.
01:06:17Great, thanks.
01:06:18Yeah, of course.
01:06:19See you soon.
01:06:20So, uh, we're going to make some pasta?
01:06:22No way.
01:06:23It's taco Tuesday.
01:06:25Tacos it is.
01:06:27Sounds like it.
01:06:28Uh, hold on one second.
01:06:30Ooh, that's Lisa.
01:06:31I'm going to grab her in the office.
01:06:32Excuse me.
01:06:33Hey, Lisa.
01:06:35Uh-huh.
01:06:37OK, yeah.
01:06:46OK.
01:06:59This is so cool.
01:07:00I've never made tortillas from scratch before.
01:07:02Yeah, well, they're actually pretty easy.
01:07:04And to be honest with you, they're way more yummy.
01:07:07OK, I think we're all prepped.
01:07:09Good, that's a great job.
01:07:10Uh, OK, now we have to brown the meat.
01:07:12And then we'll cook those.
01:07:13And in the meantime, I'm going to make a salad.
01:07:15So could you grab me a cutting board and a bowl?
01:07:19Yes.
01:07:22Great.
01:07:31Oh.
01:07:32Mom's bowl.
01:07:33Oh, no, no, no.
01:07:34It's OK.
01:07:35We can fix this.
01:07:36Dad's going to be so mad at me.
01:07:37No, he's not.
01:07:38No, he's not.
01:07:39Hey, you guys OK?
01:07:40Uh, yeah.
01:07:45What happened to Mom's bowl?
01:07:48Um, it's my fault. Yeah, I was going to wash the lettuce.
01:07:53And then some water sprayed on me.
01:07:55And then I backed into her.
01:07:56And I knocked the water over her head.
01:07:57Dad, it wasn't her.
01:07:58And she tried to catch it.
01:07:59But it was too late.
01:08:00Look, let me help you.
01:08:01I know we can fix it.
01:08:02Just stop, OK?
01:08:04Stop.
01:08:05I'll handle it.
01:08:10Rebecca wanted to do so much with this house.
01:08:12This was her dream house.
01:08:13She didn't get to do any of it.
01:08:16Sorry for that.
01:08:17Dad.
01:08:18Let's just do dinner another night, OK?
01:08:21Hey, hey.
01:08:22The magazine showed me the pictures from today.
01:08:24They look so good.
01:08:28Everything OK?
01:08:29Dad, you have to listen to me.
01:08:30Hey, silly.
01:08:31Um, why don't you just give me and your dad a second, OK?
01:08:36OK.
01:08:39Where's the glue?
01:08:40Where's the glue?
01:08:41The glue was in this drawer.
01:08:42It's always been in this drawer.
01:08:46Sorry.
01:08:51Grant, I'm just going to go.
01:09:07Hey, Zoe.
01:09:08I don't want you to worry about anything.
01:09:10We can fix this, OK?
01:09:11Promise?
01:09:12Yeah, I promise.
01:09:13I promise.
01:09:14And he is not mad at you.
01:09:16Just give him a little while, OK?
01:09:27OK.
01:09:37OK.
01:09:44You ready?
01:09:47Yeah.
01:09:51He'll get over it.
01:09:52He just needs time to process.
01:09:55Are you OK?
01:09:58I don't know.
01:10:07Dad?
01:10:09What's up, sweetie?
01:10:10I have to tell you something.
01:10:13It's about Bethany.
01:10:18Look.
01:10:21It's late.
01:10:22But Dad.
01:10:23We should go to bed and we can talk in the morning.
01:10:25You always say that when you don't
01:10:26want to talk about grown-up stuff.
01:10:31Should we sit down?
01:10:34Should we say your mom's prayer?
01:10:38God bless this home.
01:10:39God bless this girl.
01:10:41God bless the people of the world.
01:10:43Teach us to love the way you do.
01:10:45And trust your love will see us through.
01:10:47Amen.
01:10:48Amen.
01:10:50OK.
01:10:55Night.
01:10:56Night.
01:10:57Night.
01:11:04Night.
01:11:07Good night.
01:11:17Good morning.
01:11:19Morning.
01:11:20Morning.
01:11:26It turned out great, huh?
01:11:28Yeah.
01:11:31You should just call him.
01:11:34Hey.
01:11:35You want some tea?
01:11:36Bethany, I.
01:11:37I got some great tea in here that I think
01:11:39you're really going to like.
01:11:40It's chai.
01:11:42OK.
01:11:44Are you ready?
01:11:45Your session's about to start.
01:11:47Dad, I have to tell you something.
01:11:50OK.
01:11:52It wasn't Bethany's fault the bowl broke.
01:11:55I put it on the counter and it fell off.
01:12:02OK.
01:12:03Well, thanks for telling me.
01:12:06It's not my fault.
01:12:08OK.
01:12:09Well, thanks for telling me.
01:12:12So now you don't have to be mad at her anymore.
01:12:14We can all be friends again.
01:12:19Yeah, I think it's a little more complicated than that.
01:12:21Why?
01:12:26I don't even know if she wants to be friends.
01:12:28Did you ask her?
01:12:31Dad, you have to tell Bethany you like her.
01:12:33But just do it.
01:12:35There's nothing confusing about it.
01:12:38OK.
01:12:42Get out there.
01:12:43Your practice is about to start.
01:12:46Like a guru.
01:12:55It's my fault. I mean, I'm fine.
01:12:57I should have known better than to get in a relationship.
01:13:00You know, the contest is over.
01:13:03I got to get my head back in the game.
01:13:06You could try to work things out with him.
01:13:08He doesn't want to.
01:13:10How do you know?
01:13:11He kind of just ran away.
01:13:14I didn't run away.
01:13:16Do you intend to go back?
01:13:20No.
01:13:21Then that's away.
01:13:22The running's just metaphorical.
01:13:24No, but you don't understand.
01:13:26That relationship came with so much baggage
01:13:28and I would have been over my head.
01:13:30Bethany, I've seen you take places
01:13:32that are falling apart and turn them into something wonderful.
01:13:34That's different.
01:13:35Not really.
01:13:36It's just that you know you can do it
01:13:38so you aren't ever scared.
01:13:41I don't know where his head is.
01:13:42Exactly.
01:13:44You don't know.
01:13:55You know, if you stare at that too long,
01:13:57you're going to get those strobe light things in your eyes
01:13:59like when you look into a flash.
01:14:03Ahem.
01:14:05Let me ask you something.
01:14:08What do you really think of Bethany?
01:14:11I think she's great.
01:14:13It's just all the changes at the house,
01:14:15the stress here at work.
01:14:18It just all seems so crazy.
01:14:20Is there a point in here somewhere?
01:14:22Sonia and I have just been doing so well lately.
01:14:26I don't know.
01:14:27I'm just afraid to upset the apple cart.
01:14:29When did we start talking about apples?
01:14:31You know what?
01:14:32You're right.
01:14:33I'm not ready.
01:14:34Oh, whoa, whoa.
01:14:35Hang on there one second.
01:14:37What?
01:14:38Don't pretend like I'm the one convincing you
01:14:40not to take a chance on Bethany.
01:14:42I'm not trying to pretend.
01:14:43You've got a million excuses,
01:14:44but I'm not going to be one of them.
01:14:45What are you talking about?
01:14:46I don't have any excuses.
01:14:48You can't stop time, Grant.
01:14:51Life just keeps going.
01:14:56And it's time for you to live it again.
01:14:58Stop burying yourself in your work.
01:15:00And stop hiding behind Zoey
01:15:02like she's the reason you can't move on.
01:15:07I don't know.
01:15:08All right.
01:15:10Then do something about it.
01:15:18You okay?
01:15:20It's just Sullivan.
01:15:22You don't want to sound like a robot.
01:15:24Yeah, I know.
01:15:25I just need to remember to talk about the book
01:15:28and to mention the contest.
01:15:30I can't forget about the contest.
01:15:32Okay.
01:15:35Can we be present for a minute?
01:15:38Okay, but they're getting ready to call me, so...
01:15:40Yeah, I know, I know.
01:15:43Do you see where you are right now?
01:15:45This is everything you've ever dreamt of.
01:15:48The TV show, the magazine, the book.
01:15:52You've worked so hard to get here, and look at you.
01:15:57You're miserable.
01:16:01You're missing the one thing you need.
01:16:08We're ready for you now.
01:16:10Okay, all right. Be right out.
01:16:14Meeting abundance and peace.
01:16:16Meeting abundance and peace.
01:16:18Hey.
01:16:21Meaning abundance and being present.
01:16:27I'm ready.
01:16:28This way.
01:16:30Welcome back.
01:16:32As promised before the break,
01:16:33Bethany is going to give us the lowdown
01:16:35on the Oliver family new year, new home makeover.
01:16:39Yeah, uh, well, they were great.
01:16:42I mean, the Oliver family, they were a real pleasure to work with.
01:16:45Well, I'm sure you know the question on everyone's minds.
01:16:48Yes, you can find out where to buy all of the furniture
01:16:52and the home on my website, bethanyonthemap.com.
01:16:57That's not it.
01:16:59We all want to know if there's really something going on
01:17:01between you and Grant.
01:17:03Oh, uh...
01:17:05Um...
01:17:07No, no. No, there's not.
01:17:09Uh, actually, I haven't...
01:17:11No, no. No, there's not.
01:17:13Uh, actually, I haven't spoken to Grant since the contest.
01:17:18I'm pretty sure you're disappointing a lot of our viewers.
01:17:21Oh, well, how can I make it up to them?
01:17:26Let's take a question from the audience.
01:17:29Okay.
01:17:30Oh, the gentleman over there.
01:17:33Um...
01:17:35It's, uh, more of a statement, really, than a question.
01:17:39Go right ahead. We're all ears.
01:17:42Um, bethany, we miss you.
01:17:48I miss you.
01:17:50You said you were gonna help turn our house into a home,
01:17:53but it-it can't be that unless you're around.
01:17:57So I just wanted to know if you were willing to come by for dinner.
01:18:06I'm making pancakes.
01:18:09Well, I-I don't know.
01:18:11I mean, I've got a very robust schedule, you know?
01:18:16So I think that you would have to ask my assistant.
01:18:21You know she's gonna say you should come over.
01:18:24Yep.
01:18:25You're all clear.
01:18:28Then I guess the answer is yes.
01:18:40Ooh.
01:18:42Come here.
01:18:51Hello.
01:18:54Hey.
01:18:55Surprise.
01:18:57Wow.
01:18:59Dad's outside.
01:19:01Okay. Did you do all this?
01:19:03I sure did. I read your book.
01:19:06It's really good.
01:19:08Thanks.
01:19:16Hey.
01:19:17Hey.
01:19:18This turned out nice, huh?
01:19:21Couldn't be more perfect.
01:19:24Ah, thank you.
01:19:26Yeah.
01:19:27Bethany, next time we do my room, I think we should paint it turquoise.
01:19:31Oh.
01:19:32You got it.
01:19:35Okay.
01:19:38Till next time.
01:19:40Till next time.
01:19:57Let's go inside.
01:20:03Ouch.
