00:00Sean Diddy Combs' mom is coming to her son's defense.
00:03Amid her son's legal troubles, Janice Small Combs is speaking out on behalf of their family,
00:08claiming the charges against the music mogul have been blown out of proportion.
00:12Through her attorney, Natalie G. Figures, in a statement on her behalf to The Hollywood Reporter
00:17October 6, she says, quote,
00:18To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the
00:24opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human
00:29being, my son deserves to have his day in court to finally share his side and to prove his innocence.
00:35Janice's statement comes as Diddy remains behind bars following his September 16 arrest on charges
00:40of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
00:45Since then, 120 people have also come forward with new
00:49sexual assault allegations against the music producer.
00:52Attorney Tony Busbee, who's representing the 120 accusers,
00:56told reporters at an October 1 press conference per NBC News, quote,
01:01We will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors.
01:05We will pursue this matter no matter who the evidence implicates.
01:09During the press conference, Tony also stated that 25 of the accusers were minors at the time
01:14of the alleged incidents, adding that one accuser was allegedly just nine years old.
01:19Diddy's legal team denies the claims, releasing a statement to E! News shortly thereafter, saying,
01:24quote, As Mr. Combs's legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every
01:28meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr.
01:33Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim
01:38that he sexually abused anyone, including minors.
01:41She adds, he looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court
01:45if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based
01:48on evidence, not speculation. Diddy is next due in court October 9th.
