00:00My name is Richard Anderton. I'm the Digital Transformation Lead at the Arthur Terry Learning
00:09Partnership. I lead and project manage our equitable one-to-one device programme which
00:13is called Learning Futures. Within that, we are providing each and every child and member
00:18of staff with an iPad with the goal of enhancing opportunities for all. We've deployed over
00:2311,500 devices at our 21 schools across the Midlands.
00:29I'm in Year 12. I've been using the iPads since the start of this year. I use it for
00:34a lot of my coursework to help keep track of all my subjects.
00:38I'm in Year 6 and I use it at home as well as in school. Quite recently, we started making
00:45model playgrounds with light cardboard and I used Freeform to plan it all out and I think
00:51my ideas became a lot better with that.
00:54All of my schoolwork is like all comprised in one specific place instead of having to
00:59write it all out on paper. I'm not having to carry around big folders that I would usually
01:04have to in Sixth Form.
01:06In music, we started using GarageBand and we had to create our own rap. I'm just going
01:11to show a little bit.
01:12This is the rap that makes your body tingle. This is the rap that makes chatter move. So
01:16come on, come on. I know you're excited but you should be because you're all invited.
01:20That's awesome.
01:22At the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, one of our core drivers is that children are at
01:27the heart of everything we do. That's why we launched Learning Futures to address any
01:31inequality and ensure that we're enhancing opportunities and outcomes for all those within
01:36our family of schools.
01:38Education technology is immersed into teaching and learning to enhance current practice,
01:42providing children with the skills to be able to succeed both now and in the future.
01:47We have an app called Showbee on our iPads. All of our lessons are on there and all my
01:52homework will be on there.
01:54We get a lot of our homework on Showbee as well. Sometimes we'll do it together. We can
01:58look at the same things and we can edit each other's work. It's easier as well to get teacher
02:03feedback.
02:06We recently surveyed our pilot and phase one teachers and the feedback we had was overwhelmingly
02:11positive. Over 78% of teachers agreed that explanation and modelling has been enhanced
02:16since using Apple TV and iPad, with over 80% stating that they believe learning has become
02:21more accessible since all children have received a device.
02:27Having the iPads makes it a lot easier to follow lessons when a teacher's doing work.
02:31You get to look at the same things they're doing instead of having to get loads of books
02:35out and find which page you're on.
02:37If I'm, for example, not sure on something, I can look over it later because I have the
02:41lesson on the iPad. It's a lot easier to look back and go over things I want a bit more
02:46practice on.
02:47Using the iPads has made a really big impact on the teachers and on the class.
02:52I'd never had an iPad before, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. It's really easy
02:57to use. I'm a lot better with tech now because of the iPads.
03:02When we were deciding who to work with as an Apple authorised education specialist,
03:07Sync really stood out for us because of their experience with working with other large multi-academy
03:12trusts and also their commitment to professional development and knowledge within teaching
03:16and learning.
03:17For us, this isn't a short-term project. This is something we see being successful
03:21over the next 15, 20 years.
03:23Looking to the future, whatever technology we use, it always needs to be underpinned
03:27by teaching and learning and ensuring that the skills, the values and knowledge we provide
03:31children support them in engaging in society.
