OUTSTANDING TEAM WIN for the Chiefs! Troy Aikman _ Joe Buck react to KC's MNF win _ SC with SVP
Transcript
00:00All right we say hello from the field to the booth. Joe is Troy there? Did he stay?
00:05He stayed! I can see him! Well that's fantastic! It's so good of you to stick
00:09around, Troy. Joe can leave now, right? Not quite yet. All right, Joe, I want to start
00:16with a thought on this Chiefs team. They're 5-0 and I feel like they've
00:19reached that incredibly rare space in sports where they're perfect and yet
00:24their imperfection is what people squint at, right? They say, ah, they plan their
00:27best. How do you assess what you saw from this team tonight as they move to
00:315-0 heading into the bye? Yeah, I mean, they're 5-0 and they, you know,
00:35we talked about it when we sat down on Monday Night Countdown. They have a head
00:38coach that is very creative and has the ability to cover for what they don't
00:43have. They've done an amazing job of not only creating through the draft and
00:49developing here, but bringing guys back that have been here before that seem to
00:53fit right back in like they never left. So they're thin on the outside. There's
00:58no denying that, but they still have creative ways to get the ball down the
01:03field. They showed it tonight and like Patrick just said, their defense deserves
01:08credit for being, I think, really, really good and coordinated by a guy who's done
01:13a heck of a job his whole career. That's perfect segue, Troy. I feel like I so
01:18often ask you questions about the quarterback, but as a guy that played
01:21that position and go up against defense and all the schemes that Steve
01:24Spagnuolo is trying to deploy, where's Jones? They move him around a lot. Just how
01:28difficult are the questions that that Chiefs defense asks of the
01:33opposition that they face? Well, Joe talked a little bit about it earlier in
01:37the game that, you know, Steve Spagnuolo kind of got his break under Jim
01:42Johnson, who was a defensive coordinator for a long time under Andy Reid there in
01:46Philadelphia, and a lot of similar things. And as someone who played against Jim
01:49Johnson and those styles of defenses, you know, they come after you. And so as a
01:54quarterback, the looks aren't always the same and they're not the same
01:58each week. So you don't know when they're coming and you don't know what they're
02:00going to be, and he mixes them up really well. And that's why at the end of that
02:04game, when the game's on the line, he usually has something that he's going to
02:08do that you're not quite ready for. You know you're gonna get something, but
02:11you're not sure exactly what it is. And I think he utilizes his personnel really
02:15well. He's got some good players. You talk about Chris Jones, who's just a
02:19disruptive force, but he had the Saints on their heels the entire game and they
02:24really just didn't get anything going. They had under 200 yards of offense
02:27until Hainer came in at quarterback to replace Derek Carr. So just an
02:32outstanding, really, team win offensively, what they were able to do without some
02:37key players. But Steve Spagnuolo was every bit Andy Reid's equal tonight in
02:43this game. And I think certainly has been to date in these five wins. Scary thought
02:47there's probably room for this team to grow, but they are perfect at 5-0.
02:51Complimentary football. The Chiefs are playing it better than anybody right now.
02:54Joe, Troy, I look forward to seeing y'all in MetLife next week for the Jets and
02:57the Bills. All right, be well. Thank you, Scott. See you then. Thank you, gentlemen.
03:00Chiefs are perfect. They are 5-0. Another victory for the reigning Super Bowl
03:06champion, Kansas City Chiefs, as they get the victory and head into their bye week.
03:13Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs probably figured they could be a little better
03:22than they've been, but you can't be any better than five wins in five games. And
03:28it's a monster night here in Kansas City as the Royals get the victory, and so too
03:34do the Chiefs.
