Florida locals are stockpiling sandbags and wooden boards and clearing out supermarket shelves and petrol stations ahead of Hurricane Milton.

Video filmed in Fort Lauderdale showed empty shelves at a Costco store in Fort Lauderdale on Monday (Oct 7).

The storm has intensified to a Category 4 storm and is projected to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday night.

Stores are running low on essential supplies, and local officials are urging the public to follow evacuation orders where applicable.
