00:00The word wadud comes from the word wud and it means to love and to be
00:06affectionate. In Arabic there are many words that describe the concept of love.
00:11The word hub and wud are just two examples of expressing love but there is
00:18a delicate difference between the two. Hub is the inner feeling of love for
00:23someone in your heart whereas wud is a higher degree than hub. It is an intense
00:28love expressed in actions and in conduct. In other words if you love someone your
00:34inner feelings towards them are called hub i.e. love that exists in your heart.
00:40But when you translate such love into action by smiling at them, buying them
00:46gifts and helping them this would be wud. So wadud means a high degree of love
00:52translated into action. So when we say Allah is al wadud it means his love is
00:59intense and continuous and translates into blessings, favours, mercy, guidance
01:06and forgiveness that Allah has granted us with. Al wadud is loving towards the
01:11believers and caring towards them even when they disobey him. He especially
01:16loves the righteous servants and those who obey him. He is also the one who is
01:21worthy of being loved and he is the source of all love and kindness. How
01:27should we live by this name? 1. The Holy Prophet has guided hundreds of
01:32millions of people and the people at his time offered him financial needs to help
01:38him in his mission but never did he take anything. Then Allah subhana wa ta'ala
01:43revealed this verse to the Prophet. Say I do not ask of you any reward for it
01:49except muwadda for my new relatives. The word muwadda also comes from the root
01:56word wud. Muwadda is a high degree of love which is followed by action and new
02:03relatives refer to the Ahlulbayt alayhimusalam. So in this verse the
02:08Prophet has asked us for one thing muwadda for his Ahlulbayt. This high
02:14degree of love has to be with action so if we claim to love and follow the
02:20Prophet we must also follow the footsteps of his Ahlulbayt. 2. Imam Ali
02:25alayhis salam is reported to have said three things bring about love good
02:31character kindness and humbleness. If you apply these three things Allah will love
02:37you and you will find the lovers of Allah will also love
